RESUMEN

The emergence of social robots in gerontology has introduced new playful and reassuring media into nursing homes and geriatric wards. Despite promising results, their complexity hinders their widespread adoption. The Intelligent Interactive Care System aims to remedy these limitations by offering interactive therapeutic workshops. This study evaluates residents' involvement in these workshops within an adapted activity and care center, revealing a high level of involvement and satisfaction.

RESUMEN

A teacher of adapted physical activity and health (EAPAS) is a paramedical professional. A professional degree in sciences and techniques of physical and sports activities, with a specialization in adapted physical activity and health, is a prerequisite for this profession. These studies can be supplemented by a professional master's degree. EAPAS practitioners can work in the medico-social, somatic, psychiatric, geriatric and functional rehabilitation sectors. In mental health, they work as part of multi-disciplinary teams, with institutional support. They act on medical prescription to achieve psychological, physical, motivational and social benefits.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to assess the prevalence of healthcare professionals engaging in insufficient levels of physical activity (PA) and to identify sociodemographic, professional and health characteristics associated with insufficient PA levels. METHODS: We conducted a nationwide online cross-sectional study targeting healthcare professionals in France from May 2021 to June 2021. Participant recruitment involved outreach through social networks, professional networks, and email invitations. PA levels were assessed using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), with insufficient PA defined as weekly PA totaling less than 600 mets/week. RESULTS: The study included a total of 10,325 participants, of whom 3939 (38.1%, 95% confidence interval 37.1-39.0%) exhibited insufficient levels of PA. In the multivariable analysis, we identified factors associated with insufficient PA: ages between 35-44 (aOR=1.58, 95%CI [1.21-2.06], p=.001) and 45-54 years (aOR=1.40, 95%CI [1.07-1.83], p =.015), gender (female aOR=1.47, 95%CI [1.12-1.44], p<.001), and professions including health executive (aOR=1.27, 95%CI [1.32-1.64], p<.001), nurse assistant (aOR=1.25, 95%CI [1.07-1.47], p=.006), and physician (aOR=1.18, 95%CI [1.03-1.34], p=.015). Additionally, burnout (aOR=1.32, 95%CI [1.21-1.44], p<.001), tobacco use (aOR=1.33, 95%CI [1.20-1.58], p<.001), being overweight (aOR=1.39, 95%CI [1.28-1.52], p<.001), major depression (aOR=1.44, 95%CI [1.20-1.47], p<.001), and sleep disorders (aOR=1.14, 95%CI [1.05-1.25], p=.002) were associated with insufficient PA. Work night shifts was associated with sufficient PA. CONCLUSION: Our study has revealed a substantial prevalence of healthcare professionals with insufficient PA levels. This prevalence, coupled with various associated health-damaging behaviors and mental health issues, underscores the importance of acknowledging the barriers they encounter in adopting a physically active lifestyle.

RESUMEN

Hormone therapy provides an excellent survival rate after cancer but has many side effects, including joint pain in one out of two women. This leads about 13 % of women to stop their treatment within the first 6 months, impacting on its effectiveness, survival and the risk of recurrence. In order to better manage pain and quality of life, physical activity is highly recommended. In this context, the present review proposes a state of the art on the effects of adapted physical activity, based on the works referenced in PubMed. These studies show that physical activity has proved its worth in the primary prevention of cancer and is being evaluated in secondary prevention, particularly in the reduction of adverse effects. Overall, there is a reduction in joint pain, an improvement in quality of life and fatigue. Physical activity also plays a role in tertiary prevention. Paradoxically, oncologists and educators often note a reduction in the practice of physical activity due to fear of the onset of pain. It seems necessary to reinforce communication with patients and health professionals and to recommend the practice of physical activity in an appropriate setting.

RESUMEN

AIM: Prostate cancer is a frequent disease and one of the main treatments used is androgen deprivation therapy, which is a therapy with disabling side effects. Non-pharmacological interventions (NPIs) are evidenced based, non-invasive interventions on human health. They are classified into five categories (physical, psychological, nutritional, digital, elemental). The NPIs sphere is booming and still remains underused in this context. METHODS: A systematic review concerning randomized controlled trials was executed according to the PRISMA guidelines (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses). We used the "Medline" and "Kalya Research" databases. After searching and selecting eligible publications, we included 37 randomized controlled trials. RESULTS: The majority of articles concerned physical NPIs with 30 clinical studies, 3 publications dealt with nutritional NPIs, 2 with psychological NPIs and 2 articles concerned elemental NPIs. No publication about digital NPI was found. All of the studies aimed to manage and improve the side effects of treatment. No elemental NPI has demonstrated benefit. Only one psychological NPI and one nutritional NPI were effective. Five types of physical NPI protocols have shown efficacy. The main benefits related to physical abilities, body composition, osteoporosis, quality of life, fatigue, reduced cardiovascular risk and finally anxiety and depression. CONCLUSION: Non-pharmacological interventions, especially physical ones, are effective in managing and reducing the side effects associated with androgen deprivation therapy and should be offered to patients in this context.

RESUMEN

Falls are common among the elderly, and can have serious consequences: fracture, hospitalization, loss of independence, institutionalization and death. However, falls are not inevitable, and they can be prevented. The "autonomy prevention" kit (Equilibr'Age workshops, occupational therapy advice) has helped to reduce the number of falls and improve people's quality of life. The program will now be rolled out to a wider public.

RESUMEN

Alzheimer's disease (AD) brings with it the need to think about the loss of autonomy caused by cognitive impairment, and how to manage it. In this context, adapted physical activity has been shown to benefit the overall quality of life of people suffering from the disease. In our study of thirteen patients with AD or related neurodegenerative diseases, we assessed the impact of physical activity on self-esteem and motivation, with patients taking part in group exercise sessions lasting twelve weeks, one hour a week.

RESUMEN

The actuation of the body and the bodily experience of each experience induce a continuous reshaping of the cerebral configuration of the human being, from birth to death. This ontogenetic dynamic is particularly important during adolescence. The young person's personality, still under construction, can be thrown off balance by traumatic experiences or repeated neglect. Adapted physical activity and psychomotricity, which focus on movement and the body, can help restore balance.

RESUMEN

Physical activity is a determinant of the overall health and well-being of patients with mental disorders. The story of a clinical experience in a physical activity and sports center, recognized as a health and sports center, allows us to highlight the specific issues of adapted physical activity in psychiatry, oriented towards recovery and social integration. The opening of sport-health centres in mental health is an inclusive step forward that contributes to the improvement of care practices in psychiatry.

RESUMEN

The academic success and well-being of young people can be undermined by the use of psychoactive substances (PAS), which is particularly prevalent during adolescence, a period vulnerable to social influences. This article is aimed in particular at school and university preventive medicine nurses. It proposes intervention strategies for adolescents who regularly use such substances. Based on the scientific literature, the aim is to examine how psychological support, coupled with a program of adapted physical activity, could limit the use of APS, a factor in academic failure and health risks.

RESUMEN

Adapted physical activities (APA) in the workplace improve workers' health. Paradoxically, APA remains marginal in the very places where improving health is the central objective of health care workers, namely clinics and hospitals. Promoting physical activity in the workplace is a twofold challenge. Not only does PA improve the health and well-being of caregivers, but it also allows them to be more effective in their daily work with patients.

RESUMEN

Adapted physical activity (APA) appears to be essential for supportive care in oncology. It helps to reduce different side effects inherent to treatment and disease (e.g., fatigue, sarcopenia, balance problems) and could have an impact on patients' survival. However, it is not systematically implemented in daily practice and still too few patients reach the recommendations of physical activity. New tools, such as digital and connected ones, are now developed to overcome barriers to the implementation and daily practice of physical activity (e.g., distance between home and hospital). The aim of this article was to provide an overview of different connected tools that offer exercise training and monitoring programmes in prostate cancer.

RESUMEN

A better knowledge of major neurocognitive disorders and motor learning allows us to propose motor rehabilitation (MR) adapted to subjects with Alzheimer's disease. Recent neuroscientific data on motor functions and cognition allow the construction of physical activity and MR programs, for which the dose-response relationship, content and instructions are determining factors. Further studies are needed to confirm the effectiveness of the methods used.

RESUMEN

For decades, the literature was skeptical about the feasibility of motor rehabilitation and its impact, as well as that of physical activity (PA), in subjects with major neurocognitive disorders (MNCD), including Alzheimer's disease. Now, authors report several benefits of PA, both physical and cognitive, by promoting brain perfusion, neurogenesis and synaptic plasticity, as well as decreasing oxidative stress and inflammation. PA should be recommended in cases of TNCM.

RESUMEN

The positive effects of adapted physical activity (PA) in patients with chronic illness are scientifically recognized, and PA promotion is part and parcel of public policy. In this context, one task in public health research consists in improving knowledge of PA practice in persons with chronic illnesses. As a complement to studies evaluating the importance of various determinants of PA practice, qualitative research is called for. In this framework, the present article will propose a theoretical analytical framework for study of PA in chronic illness. It will be built around two key concepts, namely the "standards of life" drawn from the notion of health in the philosophy of Georges Canguilhem and the "illness trajectory" drawn from the interactionist sociology of Anselm Strauss. We will attempt to improve understanding of the important yet frangible "labor" of patients at work in transformation of their habits and life standards involving PA professionals.

RESUMEN

Nursing leadership is recognised as an essential part of patient care and of the empowerment of the profession. Practising a physical activity, for pleasure, passion or necessity influences our attitude. In this interview, Isabelle Deprez proposes a broad definition of leadership and describes how sport can be an asset in developing it.

RESUMEN

Five million deaths per year worldwide could be prevented if physical activity (PA) recommendations were followed. Scientific studies have shown with a high level of evidence that PA prevents and treats most chronic diseases. It also contributes to the prevention of the main risk factors for these diseases. In France, whatever the age group, physical activity is considered insufficient in relation to the recommendations of the World Health Organisation. However, over the last ten years, public policies have been moving in the direction of promoting physical activity.

RESUMEN

The deployment of adapted physical activity (APA) teaching within universities has enabled the development of research work in this field. The challenge is to demonstrate the effectiveness of APA interventions on health with scientific evidence. Close collaborations are thus established with health institutions and organisations.
