RESUMEN

In this work, we propose a hybrid control scheme to address the navigation problem for a team of disk-shaped robotic platforms operating within an obstacle-cluttered planar workspace. Given an initial and a desired configuration of the system, we devise a hierarchical cell decomposition methodology which is able to determine which regions of the configuration space need to be further subdivided at each iteration, thus avoiding redundant cell expansions. Furthermore, given a sequence of free configuration space cells with an arbitrary connectedness and shape, we employ harmonic transformations and harmonic potential fields to accomplish safe transitions between adjacent cells, thus ensuring almost-global convergence to the desired configuration. Finally, we present the comparative simulation results that demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed control scheme and its superiority in terms of complexity while yielding a satisfactory performance without incorporating optimization in the selection of the paths.

RESUMEN

The coverage path planning (CPP) algorithms aim to cover the total area of interest with minimum overlapping. The goal of the CPP algorithms is to minimize the total covering path and execution time. Significant research has been done in robotics, particularly for multi-unmanned unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) cooperation and energy efficiency in CPP problems. This paper presents a review of the early-stage CPP methods in the robotics field. Furthermore, we discuss multi-UAV CPP strategies and focus on energy-saving CPP algorithms. Likewise, we aim to present a comparison between energy efficient CPP algorithms and directions for future research.

Stably Expressed Genes (SEGs) are a set of genes with invariant expression. Identification of SEGs, especially among both healthy and diseased tissues, is of clinical relevance to enable more accurate data integration, gene expression comparison and biomarker detection. However, it remains unclear how many global SEGs there are, whether there are development-, tissue- or cell-specific SEGs, and whether diseases can influence their expression. In this research, we systematically investigate human SEGs at single-cell level and observe their development-, tissue- and cell-specificity, and expression stability under various diseased states. A hierarchical strategy is proposed to identify a list of 408 spatial-temporal SEGs. Development-specific SEGs are also identified, with adult tissue-specific SEGs enriched with the function of immune processes and fetal tissue-specific SEGs enriched in RNA splicing activities. Cells of the same type within different tissues tend to show similar SEG composition profiles. Diseases or stresses do not show influence on the expression stableness of SEGs in various tissues. In addition to serving as markers and internal references for data normalization and integration, we examine another possible application of SEGs, i.e., being applied for cell decomposition. The deconvolution model could accurately predict the fractions of major immune cells in multiple independent testing datasets of peripheral blood samples. The study provides a reliable list of human SEGs at the single-cell level, facilitates the understanding on the property of SEGs, and extends their possible applications.

This paper tackles the problems of exact cell decomposition and partitioning of a coastal region for a team of heterogeneous Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) with an approach that takes into account the field of view or sensing radius of the sensors on-board. An initial sensor-based exact cell decomposition of the area aids in the partitioning process, which is performed in two steps. In the first step, a growing regions algorithm performs an isotropic partitioning of the area based on the initial locations of the UAVs and their relative capabilities. Then, two novel algorithms are applied to compute an adjustment of this partitioning process, in order to solve deadlock situations that generate non-allocated regions and sub-areas above or below the relative capabilities of the UAVs. Finally, realistic simulations have been conducted for the evaluation of the proposed solution, and the obtained results show that these algorithms can compute valid and sound solutions in complex coastal region scenarios under different setups for the UAVs.
