PURPOSE: The 100,000 Genomes Project diagnosed a quarter of affected participants, but 26% of diagnoses were not on the applied gene panel(s); with many being de novo variants. Assessing biallelic variants without a gene panel is more challenging. METHODS: We sought to identify missed biallelic diagnoses using GenePy, which incorporates allele frequency, zygosity, and a user-defined deleterious metric, generating an aggregate GenePy score per gene, per participant. We calculated GenePy scores for 2862 recessive disease genes in 78,216 100,000 Genomes Project participants. For each gene, we ranked participant GenePy scores and scrutinized affected participants without a diagnosis, whose scores ranked among the top 5 for each gene. In cases which participant phenotypes overlapped with the disease gene of interest, we extracted rare variants and applied phase, ClinVar, and ACMG classification. RESULTS: 3184 affected individuals without a molecular diagnosis had a top-5-ranked GenePy score and 682 of 3184 (21%) had phenotypes overlapping with a top-ranking gene. In 122 of 669 (18%) phenotype-matched cases (excluding 13 withdrawn participants), we identified a putative missed diagnosis (2.2% of all undiagnosed participants). A further 334 of 669 (50%) cases have a possible missed diagnosis but require functional validation. CONCLUSION: Applying GenePy at scale has identified 456 potential diagnoses, demonstrating the value of novel diagnostic strategies.

Betalains are attractive natural pigments with potent antioxidant activity, mainly extracted from the roots, tubers, leaves, flowers, and fruits of certain plants and some fungi. They constitute a reliable alternative to synthetic dyes used in the food industry and are considered toxic for consumers. In addition, there is convincing evidence of their health benefits for consumers. However, betalains are highly unstable to environment factors, such as light, heat, oxygen, water activity, and pH change which can be degraded during food processing, handling, storage, or delivery. Therefore, newly developed extraction methods and micro/nano-encapsulation techniques are currently applied to enhance the extraction yield, solve their instability problems, and improve their application in the food industry. This article aims to summarize the new advanced extraction methods of betalains, discussing the recent encapsulation techniques concerning the different encapsulating materials utilization. Betalains, natural pigments with potent antioxidant activity, are increasingly extracted from the roots, tubers, leaves, flowers, and fruits of certain plants and some fungi as safe alternatives to synthetic food dyes used in the food industry. However, their susceptibility to degradation during food processing, storage, and delivery poses challenges. Recent developments in extraction methods (e.g., supercritical fluid, pressurized liquid, ultrasound- and microwave-assisted, and enzyme-assisted) enhance betalain recovery, minimizing degradation. Encapsulation techniques using biopolymers, proteins, lipids, and nanoparticles protect betalains from environmental factors, extending shelf life and enabling controlled release. These advancements offer improved extraction efficiency, reduced solvent use, shorter processing times, and enhanced stability. Integration of these techniques in the food industry presents opportunities for incorporating betalains into various products, including functional foods, beverages, and dietary supplements. By addressing stability challenges, these developments support the production of innovative, healthier food items enriched with betalains. This article provides an overview of recent advancements in betalain extraction and encapsulation, highlighting their potential applications in the food industry.

Extensive use of α-pinene in cosmetics, and medicine, especially for its antioxidant/antibacterial, and anti-cancer properties, and also as a flavoring agent, has made it a versatile product. α-Pinene (one of the two pinene isomers) is the most abundant terpene in nature. When extracting α-pinene from plants and, to a lesser extent, fruits, given that its purity is essential, purification methods should also be used as described in this study. Also, an attempt has been made to describe the extraction techniques of α-pinene, carried out by conventional and novel methods. Some disadvantages of conventional methods (such as hydrodistillation or solvent extraction) are being time consuming, low capacity per batch and being labor intensive and the requirement of trained operators. Most novel methods, such as supercritical fluid extraction and microwave-assisted extraction, can reduce the extraction time, cost, and energy compared to conventional methods, and, in fact, the extraction and preservation efficiency of α-pinene in these methods is higher than conventional methods. Although the above-mentioned extraction methods are effective, they still require rather long extraction times. In fact, advanced methods such as green and solvent-free ultrasonic-microwave-assisted extraction are much more efficient than microwave-assisted extraction and ultrasound-assisted extraction because the extraction efficiency and separation of α-pinene in these methods are higher; furthermore, no solvent consumption and maximum extraction efficiency are some crucial advantages of these techniques. However, the application of some novel methods, such as ultrasound-assisted extraction, in industry scale is still problematic because of their intricate design data.

Epidemiologic methods have advanced tremendously in the last several decades. As important as they are, even the most sophisticated approaches are unable to provide meaningful answers when the user lacks a clear study question. Yet, instructors have more and more resources on how to conduct studies and analyze data but few resources on how to ask clearly defined study questions that will guide those methods. Training programs have limited time for coursework, and if novel statistical estimation methods become the focus of instruction, programs that go this route may end up underemphasizing the process of asking good study questions, designing robust studies, considering potential biases in the collected data, and appropriately interpreting the results of the analysis. Given the demands for space in curricula, now is an appropriate time to reevaluate what we teach epidemiology doctoral students. We advocate that programs place a renewed focus on asking good study questions and following a comprehensive approach to study design and data analysis in which questions guide the choice of appropriate methods, helping us avoid methods for methods' sake and highlighting when application of a new method can provide the opportunity to answer questions that were intractable with traditional approaches.

In this work, we propose an online method to detect and approximately locate an external load induced on the body of a person interacting with the environment. The method is based on a torque equilibrium condition on the human sagittal plane, which takes into account a reduced-complexity model of the whole-body centre of pressure (CoP) along with the measured one, and the vertical component of the ground reaction forces (vGRFs). The latter is combined with a statistical analysis approach to improve the localisation accuracy, (which is subject to uncertainties) to the extent of the industrial applications we target. The proposed technique eliminates the assumption of known contact position of an external load on the human limbs, allowing a more flexible online body-state tracking. The accuracy of the proposed method is first evaluated via a simulation study in which various contact points on different body postures are considered. Next, experiments on human subjects with three different contact locations applied to the human body are presented, revealing the validity of the proposed methodology. Lastly, its benefit in the estimation of human dynamic states is demonstrated. These results add another layer to the online human ergonomics assessment framework developed in our laboratory, extending it to more realistic and varying interaction conditions.

BACKGROUND: Sleep issues such as insomnia affect over 50 million Americans and can lead to serious health problems, including depression and obesity, and can increase risk of injury. Social media platforms such as Twitter offer exciting potential for their use in studying and identifying both diseases and social phenomenon. OBJECTIVE: Our aim was to determine whether social media can be used as a method to conduct research focusing on sleep issues. METHODS: Twitter posts were collected and curated to determine whether a user exhibited signs of sleep issues based on the presence of several keywords in tweets such as insomnia, "can't sleep", Ambien, and others. Users whose tweets contain any of the keywords were designated as having self-identified sleep issues (sleep group). Users who did not have self-identified sleep issues (non-sleep group) were selected from tweets that did not contain pre-defined words or phrases used as a proxy for sleep issues. RESULTS: User data such as number of tweets, friends, followers, and location were collected, as well as the time and date of tweets. Additionally, the sentiment of each tweet and average sentiment of each user were determined to investigate differences between non-sleep and sleep groups. It was found that sleep group users were significantly less active on Twitter (P=.04), had fewer friends (P<.001), and fewer followers (P<.001) compared to others, after adjusting for the length of time each user's account has been active. Sleep group users were more active during typical sleeping hours than others, which may suggest they were having difficulty sleeping. Sleep group users also had significantly lower sentiment in their tweets (P<.001), indicating a possible relationship between sleep and pyschosocial issues. CONCLUSIONS: We have demonstrated a novel method for studying sleep issues that allows for fast, cost-effective, and customizable data to be gathered.

Thermal treatment of food can lead to the formation of potentially harmful chemicals, known as process contaminants. These are adventitious contaminants that are formed in food during processing and preparation. Various food processing techniques, such as heating, drying, grilling, and fermentation, can generate hazardous chemicals such as acrylamide (AA), advanced glycation end products (AGEs), heterocyclic aromatic amines (HAAs), furan, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), N-nitroso compounds (NOCs), monochloropropane diols (MCPD) and their esters (MCPDE) which can be detrimental to human health. Despite efforts to prevent the formation of these compounds during processing, eliminating them is often challenging due to their unknown formation mechanisms. It is critical to identify the potential harm to human health in processed food and understand the mechanisms by which harmful compounds form during processing, as prolonged exposure to these toxic compounds can lead to health problems. Various mitigation strategies, such as the use of diverse pre- and post-processing treatments, product reformulation, additives, variable process conditions, and novel integrated processing techniques, have been proposed to control these food hazards. In this review, we summarize the formation and occurrence, the potential for harm to human health produced by process contaminants in food, and potential mitigation strategies to minimize their impact.

BACKGROUND: Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is a common procedure for treating end-stage degenerative knee osteoarthritis (OA). Despite the generally excellent outcomes, postoperative complications such as loss of muscle strength and joint limitation can occur. Therefore, postoperative physical rehabilitation is crucial for regaining strength, functionality, and managing pain. Various rehabilitation strategies employ different methods to reduce pain severity, regain muscle strength, assist patients in returning to daily activities, and increase functionality. In recent years, technological advancements have transformed rehabilitation methods. In addition to traditional applications, new methods have been incorporated into treatment plans. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to evaluate novel physical rehabilitation methods and options following OA. METHODS: A literature review was conducted to identify and investigate recent and commonly used novel rehabilitation methods. The search terms "Total Knee Arthroplasty," "New Rehabilitation TKA," "Novel Rehabilitation" "Novel Rehabilitation in Arthroplasty" and "Technology Knee Rehabilitation" were searched across PubMed and Google Scholar databases, covering literature from the past 15 years. Studies on telerehabilitation, functional electric stimulation, virtual reality, yoga, and their reported outcomes were evaluated using specific keywords. The results of various studies on novel rehabilitation methods were gathered and compared to traditional treatment plans based on functionality and applicability. RESULTS: Several studies reported that telerehabilitation was not inferior to traditional rehabilitation, with some showing positive outcomes. Telerehabilitation following TKA demonstrated positive effects on functionality and patient satisfaction. Functional electric stimulation showed significant improvements in muscle strength and pain reduction. Virtual reality demonstrated superior effects on proprioception and posture outcomes. The use of yoga in rehabilitation also resulted in improved proprioception and pain reduction. CONCLUSION: In addition to traditional rehabilitation methods, new approaches have shown significant positive outcomes for patients who have received TKA. We are in an era of digital development, and as such, new rehabilitation techniques, particularly those involving digital advancements, will continue to emerge. With the trend toward personalized approaches in medicine, more new techniques or methods will be incorporated into rehabilitation plans, leading to better recovery outcomes from TKA.

BACKGROUND: Cardiovascular safety of marathon running middle-aged amateurs remains unclear. We previously hypothesized that transient release of cardiac troponin I (cTnI) and N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP), in addition to an acute inflammatory response to exercise, may be the cause. OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the effects of running a marathon on inflammatory biomarkers, and its impact on cardiovascular function. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Thirty-three healthy male amateur runners aged ≥50 (mean age: 57 ±7 years) were enrolled in the study. Venous blood samples were obtained before the marathon, just after the race, and 2-4 days and 7 days after the marathon. Using novel single molecule counting (SMC) technology, we measured plasma concentrations of interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α). White blood cell (WBC) count was measured using a certified hematology analyzer. The results were related to previous analyses on cardiovascular stress and endothelial function biomarkers. Transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) and cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) were used to determine myocardial function. RESULTS: We observed a sharp rise of all studied biomarkers after the race, which subsequently normalized after 2-4 days and stayed within the normal range 7 days after the race. We found no correlation between inflammatory and cardiovascular stress biomarkers. Transthoracic echocardiography and CMR did not show ischemic or inflammatory myocardial damage. CONCLUSIONS: Marathon running is associated with a sharp and significant rise in inflammatory and cardiovascular stress biomarkers. We found no connection between immune activation and cardiac biomarker release. Cardiovascular imaging showed no myocardial damage due to ischemia or inflammation.

Motor Imagery (MI)-Brain Computer-Interfaces (BCI) illiteracy defines that not all subjects can achieve a good performance in MI-BCI systems due to different factors related to the fatigue, substance consumption, concentration, and experience in the use. To reduce the effects of lack of experience in the use of BCI systems (naïve users), this paper presents the implementation of three Deep Learning (DL) methods with the hypothesis that the performance of BCI systems could be improved compared with baseline methods in the evaluation of naïve BCI users. The methods proposed here are based on Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM)/Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory (BiLSTM), and a combination of CNN and LSTM used for upper limb MI signal discrimination on a dataset of 25 naïve BCI users. The results were compared with three widely used baseline methods based on the Common Spatial Pattern (CSP), Filter Bank Common Spatial Pattern (FBCSP), and Filter Bank Common Spatial-Spectral Pattern (FBCSSP), in different temporal window configurations. As results, the LSTM-BiLSTM-based approach presented the best performance, according to the evaluation metrics of Accuracy, F-score, Recall, Specificity, Precision, and ITR, with a mean performance of 80% (maximum 95%) and ITR of 10 bits/min using a temporal window of 1.5 s. The DL Methods represent a significant increase of 32% compared with the baseline methods (p< 0.05). Thus, with the outcomes of this study, it is expected to increase the controllability, usability, and reliability of the use of robotic devices in naïve BCI users.

Ensuring that racial and ethnic minority women are involved in breast cancer research is important to address well-documented current disparities in cancer incidence, stages of diagnosis, and mortality rates. This study used a novel interactive focus group method to identify innovative communication strategies for recruiting women from two minority groups-Latinas and Asian Americans-into the Komen Tissue Bank, a specific breast cancer biobank clinical trial. Through activities that employed visual interactive tools to facilitate group discussion and self-reflection, the authors examined perspectives and motivations for Asian American women (N = 17) and Latinas (N = 14) toward donating their healthy breast tissue. Findings included three themes that, while common to both groups, were unique in how they were expressed: lack of knowledge concerning breast cancer risks and participation in clinical research, cultural influences in BC risk thinking, and how altruism relates to perceived personal connection to breast cancer. More significantly, this study illuminated the importance of using innovative methods to encourage deeper, more enlightened participation among underrepresented populations that may not arise in a traditional focus group format. The findings from this study will inform future health communication efforts to recruit women from these groups into clinical research projects like the Komen Tissue Bank.

The development and scope of using various food preservation methods depends on the level of consumers' acceptance. Despite their advantages, in the case of negative attitudes, producers may limit their use if it determines the level of sales. The aim of this study was to evaluate the perception of seven different food processing methods and to identify influencing factors, such as education as well as living area and, at the same time, to consider whether consumers verify this type of information on the labels. Additionally, the study included the possibility of influencing consumer attitudes by using alternative names for preservation methods, on the example of microwave treatment. The results showed that conventional heat treatments were the most preferred preservation methods, whereas preservatives, irradiation, radio waves and microwaves were the least favored, suggesting that consumers dislike methods connected with "waves" to a similar extent as their dislike for preservatives. The control factors proved to significantly modify the evaluation of the methods. The analysis of alternative names for microwave treatment showed that "dielectric heating" was significantly better perceived. These research findings are important as the basis for understanding consumer attitudes. Implications for business and directions of future research are also indicated.

Neck of femur fractures have often been termed as "The Unsolved Fractures", since they have a guarded outcome even after improved understanding of biomechanics and biology of this area. Gap-nonunion is one such dreaded complication of this fracture, especially in younger (<60 years) population, where arthroplasty may not be the best go-to option. We have earlier described "The AIIMS BOX" technique to manage such cases of gap non-union in neglected neck femur fractures [1]. Here we intend to describe a more successful modification of this technique. We operated 7 cases of gap non-union with our new "Cage in Box" strategy and followed these cases for 5 years. 6 patients from this group achieved excellent to good outcomes and only 1 reported a poor outcome. All the patients, except the one with poor outcome, could walk without aid and do activities of daily living independently. 3 patients developed AVN but had no evidence of collapse. 3 patients also developed Coxa vara, but it was significant only in one case. 6/7 patients were able to squat. We describe this method in detail and feel this can be a viable option in the armamentarium of orthopedic surgeons, along with valgus osteotomy, vascularized and non-vascularized fibular strut graft as well as Meyer's Graft, to help them solve this unsolved fracture.

Since COVID-19 pandemic has been continuously rising and spreading, several original contributions and review articles on COVID-19 started to appear in the literature. The review articles are mainly focus on the current status of the pandemic along with current status of the corona diagnosis and treatment process. Due to some disadvantages of the currently used methods, the improvement on the novel promising diagnosis and treatment methods of corona virus is very important issue. In this review, after briefly discussing the status of current diagnosis and treatment methods, we present to the scientific community, novel promising methods in the diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19. As with other novel approaches, first, the diagnosis potential of mass spectroscopy and optical spectroscopic methods such as UV/visible, infrared, and Raman spectroscopy coupled with chemometrics will be discussed for the corona virus infected samples based on the relevant literature. In vibrational spectroscopy studies, due to complexity of the data, multivariate analysis methods are also applied to data. The application of multivariate analysis tools that can be used to extract useful information from the data for diagnostic and characterisation purposes is also included in this review. The reviewed methods include hierarchical cluster analysis, principal component analysis, linear and quadratic discriminant analysis, support vector machine algorithm, and one form of neural networks namely deep learning method. Second, novel treatment methods such as photodynamic therapy and the use of nanoparticles in the in-corona virus therapy will be discussed. Finally, the advantages of novel promising diagnosis and treatment methods in COVID-19, over standard methods will be discussed. One of the main aims of this paper is to encourage the scientific community to explore the potential of this novel tools for their use in corona virus characterization, diagnosis, and treatment.

Pain is a multidimensional experience of sensory-discriminative, cognitive, and affective processes; however, current basic research methods rely heavily on response to threshold stimuli, bypassing the supraspinal processing that ultimately gives rise to the pain experience. We developed the operant plantar thermal assay (OPTA), which utilizes a novel, conflict-based operant task requiring evaluation and active decision-making to obtain reward under thermally aversive conditions to quantify thermal pain tolerance. In baseline measures, male and female mice exhibited similar temperature preferences, however in the OPTA, female mice exhibited greater temperature-dependent tolerance, as defined by choice time spent in an adverse thermal condition to obtain reward. Increasing reward salience (4% vs 10% sucrose solution) led to increased thermal tolerance for males but not females. To determine whether neuropathic and inflammatory pain models alter thermal tolerance, animals with chronic constriction injury (CCI) or complete Freund's adjuvant (CFA), respectively, were tested in the OPTA. Surprisingly, neuropathic animals exhibited increased thermal tolerance, as shown by greater time spent in the reward zone in an adverse thermal condition, compared with sham animals. There was no effect of inflammation on thermal tolerance. Administration of clonidine in the CCI model led to increased thermal tolerance in both injured and sham animals. In contrast, the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory meloxicam was anti-hyperalgesic in the CFA model, but reduced thermal pain tolerance. These data support the feasibility of using the OPTA to assess thermal pain tolerance to gain new insights into complex pain behaviors and to investigate novel aspects of analgesic efficacy.

BACKGROUND: There is a need to unpack the empirical, practical, and personal challenges within participatory approaches advocated to optimize implementation. The unpredictable, chaotic nature of participatory approaches complicates application of implementation theories, methods, and strategies which do not address researchers' situatedness within participatory processes. As an implementation scientist, addressing one's own situatedness through critical reflection is important to unearth how conscious and unconscious approaches, including ontological and epistemological underpinnings, influence the participatory context, process, and outcomes. Therefore, the aim of this exploratory work is to investigate the heretofore blind spot toward the lived experience of implementation researchers within the participatory process. METHODS: We developed an integrated research-practice partnership (IRPP) to inform the implementation of a gestational weight gain (GWG) control program. Within this IRPP, one investigator conducted a 12-month autoethnography. Data collection and triangulation included field notes, cultural artifacts, and systematic timeline tracking. Data analysis included ethnographic-theoretical dialogue and restorying to synthesize key events and epiphanies into a narrative. RESULTS: Analysis revealed the unpredicted evolution of the GWG program into a maternal health fair and three themes within the researchers' lived experience: (1) permeable work boundaries, (2) individual and collective blind spots toward the ontological and epistemological underpinnings of implementation paradigms, and (3) maladaptive behaviors seemingly reinforced by the research culture. These themes contributed to the chaos of implementation and to researchers' experience of inadequate recovery from cognitive, emotional, and practical demands. These themes also demonstrated the importance of contextual factors, subjectivity, and value-based judgments within implementation research. CONCLUSION: Building on extant qualitative research guidelines, we suggest that researchers anchor their approach to implementation in reflexivity, intentionally and iteratively reflecting on their own situatedness. Through this autoethnography, we have elucidated several strategies based on critical reflection including examining philosophical underpinnings of research, adopting restorative practices that align with one's values, and embracing personal presence as a foundation of scientific productivity. Within the predominant (post-) positivism paradigms, autoethnography may be criticized as unscientifically subjective or self-indulgent. However, this work demonstrates that autoethnography is a vehicle for third-person observation and first-person critical reflection that is transformative in understanding and optimizing implementation contexts, processes, and outcomes.

The transient nature of the internal pore structure of particulate wall flow filters, caused by the continuous deposition of particulate matter, makes studying their flow and filtration characteristics challenging. In this article we present a new methodology and first experimental demonstration of time resolved in-situ synchrotron micro X-ray computed tomography (micro-CT) to study aerosol filtration. We directly imaged in 4D (3D plus time) pore scale deposits of TiO2 nanoparticles (nominal mean primary diameter of 25 nm) with a pixel resolution of 1.6 µm. We obtained 3D tomograms at a rate of ∼1 per minute. The combined spatial and temporal resolution allows us to observe pore blocking and filling phenomena as they occur in the filter's pore space. We quantified the reduction in filter porosity over time, from an initial porosity of 0.60 to a final porosity of 0.56 after 20 min. Furthermore, the penetration depth of particulate deposits and filtration rate was quantified. This novel image-based method offers valuable and statistically relevant insights into how the pore structure and function evolves during particulate filtration. Our data set will allow validation of simulations of automotive wall flow filters. Evolutions of this experimental design have potential for the study of a wide range of dry aerosol filters and could be directly applied to catalysed automotive wall flow filters.

BACKGROUND: Cardiovascular safety of marathon running in recreational runners remains unclear. We set up this study to comprehensively evaluate the effects of a marathon run on the profile of cardiovascular stress biomarkers in connection with transthoracic echocardiography. DESIGN AND METHODS: Thirty-three healthy male amateur runners, aged ≥50 years (mean age 57 ± 7) were enrolled. Venous blood samples were obtained before the marathon, just after the race, 2-4 and seven days after the marathon. Using novel single molecule counting technology we measured: plasma concentrations of high-sensitivity cardiac troponin I (hs-cTnI) and endothelin-1. N-terminal pro B-type natriuretic peptide was measured using electrochemiluminescence. Each participant had transthoracic echocardiography before and immediately after the race. RESULTS: We observed a sharp rise in the levels of all biomarkers after the race (all p < 0.01), which subsequently normalized after 2-4 days and stayed within normal range after seven days. Runners with intensive training programmes (>169 km/month, a median for the studied group) had lower hs-cTnI leak after the race (median 15.11 ng/ml and 31.2 ng/ml, respectively; p < 0.05). Neither transthoracic echocardiography measures of ventricles nor strain rates changed after the run. We observed a decrease in the left atrial volume index and increase in the maximal right atrial volumes (all p < 0.05). Changes in Doppler indices of diastolic function suggestive of alteration in left ventricular relaxation were observed. CONCLUSIONS: Marathon run is associated with sharp and significant rises in the biomarkers of cardiovascular stress. The profile of these changes, however, along with echocardiographic parameters, does not suggest irreversible myocardial damage.

Advances in consumer display screen technologies have historically been adapted by researchers across the fields of optics as they can be used as electronically controlled spatial light modulators (SLMs) for a variety of uses. The performance characteristics of such SLM devices based on liquid crystal (LC) and digital micromirror device (DMD) technologies, in particular, has developed to the point where they are compatible with increasingly sensitive instrumental applications, for example, Raman spectroscopy. Spatial light modulators provide additional flexibility, from modulation of the laser excitation (including multiple laser foci patterns), manipulation of microscopic samples (optical trapping), or selection of sampling volume (adaptive optics or spatially offset Raman spectroscopy), to modulation in the spectral domain for high-resolution spectral filtering or multiplexed/compressive fast detection. Here, we introduce the benefits of different SLM devices as a part of Raman instrumentation and provide a variety of recent example applications which have benefited from their incorporation into a Raman system.
