RESUMO

The preparation of water-soluble, N-heterocyclic-carbene-stabilized Au-Pd alloy nanoparticles by a straightforward ligand exchange process is presented. Extensive analysis revealed excellent size retention and stability over years in water. The alloy nanoparticles were applied as biomimetic catalysts for aerobic oxidation of d-glucose, for which monometallic Au and Pd nanoparticles showed no or negligible activity. The alloy nanoparticles were further applied as titania-supported heterogeneous catalysts for the mild hydrogenation of nitroarenes and the semihydrogenation of 1,2-diphenylacetylene with a solvent-dependent selectivity switch between E- and Z-stilbene.

RESUMO

N-Heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs), which react with the surface of Au electrodes, have been successfully applied in pentacene transistors. With the application of NHCs, the charge-carrier mobility of pentacene transistors increased by five times, while the contact resistance at the pentacene-Au interface was reduced by 85 %. Even after annealing the NHC-Au electrodes at 200 °C for 2 h before pentacene deposition, the charge-carrier mobility of the pentacene transistors did not decrease. The distinguished performance makes NHCs as excellent alternatives to thiols as metal modifiers for the application in organic field-effect transistors (OFETs).

RESUMO

Syntheses of dictyodendrins A and F have been achieved using a sequential C-H functionalization strategy. The N-alkylpyrrole core is fully functionalized by means of a rhodium(I)-catalyzed C-H arylation at the C3-position, a rhodium(II)-catalyzed double C-H insertion at the C2- and C5-positions, and a Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction at the C4-position. The syntheses of dictyodendrins A and F were completed by formal 6π-electrocyclization to generate the pyrrolo[2,3-c]carbazole core of the natural products.

RESUMO

Flexible composite polymer/oxide hollow fibers are used as flow reactors for heterogeneously catalyzed reactions in organic synthesis. The fiber synthesis allows for a variety of supported catalysts to be embedded in the walls of the fibers, thus leading to a diverse set of reactions that can be catalyzed in flow. Additionally, the fiber synthesis is scalable (e.g. several reactor beds containing many fibers in a module may be used) and thus they could potentially be used for the large-scale production of organic compounds. Incorporating heterogeneous catalysts in the walls of the fibers presents an alternative to a traditional packed-bed reactor and avoids large pressure drops, which is a crucial challenge when employing microreactors.

RESUMO

Catalytic enantioselective methods for the generation of cyclopropanes has been of longstanding pharmaceutical interest. Chiral dirhodium(II) catalysts prove to be an effective means for the generation of diverse cyclopropane libraries. Rh2(R-DOSP)4 is generaally the most effective catalyst for asymmetric intermolecular cyclopropanation of methyl aryldiazoacetates with styrene. Rh2(S-PTAD)4 provides high levels of enantioinduction with ortho-substituted aryldiazoacetates. The less-established Rh2(R-BNP)4 plays a complementary role to Rh2(R-DOSP)4 and Rh2(S-PTAD)4 in catalyzing highly enantioselective cyclopropanation of 3- methoxy-substituted aryldiazoacetates. Substitution on the styrene has only moderate influence on the asymmetric induction of the cyclopropanation.

RESUMO

A silica-supported dirhodium(II) tetraprolinate catalyst was synthesized in four steps from l-proline and used in a range of enantioselective transformations of donor/acceptor carbenoids. These include cyclopropenation, cyclopropanation, tandem ylide formation/[2,3] sigmatropic rearrangement, and a variety of combined C-H functionalization/Cope rearrangement reactions. The products of these transformations were obtained in yields and levels of enantioselectivity comparable to those obtained with its homogeneous counterpart, Rh2(S-DOSP)4. The silica-supported Rh2(S-DOSP)4 derivative was successfully recycled over five reactions.

RESUMO

We describe here the synthesis and evaluation of a series of tetrahydroisoquinolines that show subunit-selective potentiation of NMDA receptors containing the GluN2C or GluN2D subunits. Bischler-Napieralski conditions were employed in the key step for the conversion of acyclic amides to the corresponding tetrahydroisoquinoline-containing analogs. Compounds were evaluated using both two-electrode voltage clamp recordings from Xenopus laevis oocytes and imaging of mammalian BHK cells loaded with Ca(2+)-sensitive dyes. The most potent analogues had EC50 values of 300 nM and showed over 2-fold potentiation of the response to maximally effective concentrations of glutamate and glycine but had no effect on responses from NMDA receptors containing the GluN2A or GluN2B subunits AMPA, kainate, and GABA or glycine receptors or a variety of other potential targets. These compounds represent a potent class of small molecule subunit-selective potentiators of NMDA receptors.
