RESUMO

The fifth edition of the World Health Organization Classification of Haematolymphoid Tumours (WHO-HAEM5) is the product of an evidence-based evolution of the revised fourth edition with wide multidisciplinary consultation. Nonetheless, while every classification incorporates scientific advances and aims to improve upon the prior version, medical knowledge remains incomplete and individual neoplasms may not be easily subclassified in a given scheme. Thus, optimal classification requires ongoing study, and there are certain aspects of some entities and subtypes that require further refinements. In this review, we highlight a selection of these challenging areas to prompt more research investigations. These include (1) a 'placeholder term' of splenic B-cell lymphoma/leukaemia with prominent nucleoli (SBLPN) to accommodate many of the splenic lymphomas previously classified as hairy cell leukaemia variant and B-prolymphocytic leukaemia, a clear new start to define their pathobiology; (2) how best to classify BCL2 rearrangement negative follicular lymphoma including those with BCL6 rearrangement, integrating the emerging new knowledge on various germinal centre B-cell subsets; (3) what is the spectrum of non-IG gene partners of MYC translocation in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma/high-grade B-cell lymphoma and how they impact MYC expression and clinical outcome; how best to investigate this in a routine clinical setting; and (4) how best to define high-grade B-cell lymphoma not otherwise specified and high-grade B-cell lymphoma with 11q aberrations to distinguish them from their mimics and characterise their molecular pathogenetic mechanism. Addressing these questions would provide more robust evidence to better define these entities/subtypes, improve their diagnosis and/or prognostic stratification, leading to better patient care. © 2024 The Authors. Several nomenclature and grading systems have been proposed for conjunctival melanocytic intraepithelial lesions (C-MIL). The fourth "WHO Classification of Eye Tumors" (WHO-EYE04) proposed a C-MIL classification, capturing the progression of noninvasive neoplastic melanocytes from low- to high-grade lesions, onto melanoma in situ (MIS), and then to invasive melanoma. This proposal was revised to the WHO-EYE05 C-MIL system, which simplified the high-grade C-MIL, whereby MIS was subsumed into high-grade C-MIL. Our aim was to validate the WHO-EYE05 C-MIL system using digitized images of C-MIL, stained with hematoxylin and eosin and immunohistochemistry. However, C-MIL cases were retrieved from 3 supraregional ocular pathology centers. Adequate conjunctival biopsies were stained with hematoxylin and eosin, Melan-A, SOX10, and PReferentially expressed Antigen in Melanoma. Digitized slides were uploaded on the SmartZoom platform and independently scored by 4 ocular pathologists to obtain a consensus score, before circulating to 14 expert eye pathologists for independent scoring. In total, 105 cases from 97 patients were evaluated. The initial consensus diagnoses using the WHO-EYE04 C-MIL system were as follows: 28 benign conjunctival melanoses, 13 low-grade C-MIL, 37 high-grade C-MIL, and 27 conjunctival MIS. Using this system resulted in 93% of the pathologists showing only fair-to-moderate agreement (kappa statistic) with the consensus score. The WHO-EYE05 C-MIL system (with high-grade C-MIL and MIS combined) improved consistency between pathologists, with the greatest level of agreement being seen with benign melanosis (74.5%) and high-grade C-MIL (85.4%). Lowest agreements remained between pathologists for low-grade C-MIL (38.7%). Regarding WHO-EYE05 C-MIL scoring and clinical outcomes, local recurrences of noninvasive lesions developed in 8% and 34% of the low- and high-grade cases. Invasive melanoma only occurred in 47% of the cases that were assessed as high-grade C-MIL. This extensive international collaborative study is the first to undertake a comprehensive review of the WHO-EYE05 C-MIL scoring system, which showed good interobserver agreement and reproducibility.

PURPOSE: The current, 8th edition of the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) anatomic classification and staging model for uveal melanoma does not fully separate survival estimates for patients with advanced stages of the disease (e.g., IIIB and IIIC). Furthermore, some tumors in higher size categories have a smaller volume than tumors in lower categories. Therefore, we developed a novel model for prognostication of metastatic mortality based on estimations of tumor volume. DESIGN: Retrospective, multicenter case series of patients with uveal melanoma involving the choroid, ciliary body, or both. PARTICIPANTS: Six thousand five hundred twenty-eight consecutively registered patients treated at 3 tertiary ocular oncology centers on 2 continents between 1981 and 2022. METHODS: Data on survival, tumor size, and extent were collected for all 6528 patients. Tumor volume was estimated using a simple equation based on largest basal diameter and thickness. Volume-based size categories and stages were developed and validated in independent patient cohorts using competing risk analyses, and correlations with cytogenetic and cytomorphologic features were examined. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURE: Cumulative incidence of metastatic death. RESULTS: The 6528 patients were distributed over 7 stages based on estimated tumor volume and anatomic extent (V stages IA, IB, IIA, IIB, IIIA, IIIB, and IIIC), with a 15-year incidence of metastatic death ranging from 7% to 77%. A new category, V1min, and corresponding stage IA, were introduced, indicating an excellent prognosis. Metastatic mortality in V stage IIIC was significantly higher than that in V stage IIIB (P = 0.03), whereas incidence curves crossed for patients in AJCC stages IIIC vs. IIIB (P = 0.53). Univariable and multivariable competing risk regressions demonstrated higher Wald statistics for V stages compared with AJCC stages (1152 vs. 1038 and 71 vs. 17, respectively). The frequency of monosomy 3, gain of chromosome 8q, and epithelioid cytomorphologic features increased with tumor volume (R2 = 0.70, R2 = 0.50, and R2 = 0.71, respectively; P < 0.001) and showed similar correlations with both AJCC and V stages. CONCLUSIONS: Anatomic classification and staging of ciliary body and choroidal melanomas based on estimation of tumor volume improves prognostication of metastatic mortality. Metastatic uveal melanoma remains incurable at present. We previously demonstrated that loss of BAP1 gene expression in tumour cells triggers molecular mechanisms of immunosuppression in the tumour microenvironment (TME) of metastatic uveal melanoma. Adipophilin is a structural protein of lipid droplets involved in fat storage within mammalian cells, and its expression has been identified in uveal melanoma. We comprehensively evaluated adipophilin expression at the RNA (PLIN2) and protein levels of 80 patients of the GDC-TCGA-UM study and in a local cohort of 43 primary uveal melanoma samples respectively. PLIN2 expression is a survival prognosticator biomarker in uveal melanoma. Loss of adipophilin expression is significantly associated with monosomy 3 status and nuclear BAP1 losses in uveal melanoma tumours. Integrative transcriptomic and secretome studies show a relationship between transient loss of adipophilin expression and increased levels of tumour-associated macrophages and hypoxia genes, suggesting PLIN2-dependent changes in oxygen and lipid metabolism in the TME of low and high-metastatic risk uveal melanoma. We designed four adipophilin-based multigene signatures for uveal melanoma prognostication using a transcriptomic and secretome survival-functional network approach. Adipophilin-based multigene signatures were validated in BAP1-positive and BAP1-negative uveal melanoma cell lines using a next-generation RNA sequencing approach. We identified existing small molecules, mostly adrenergic, retinoid, and glucocorticoid receptor agonists, MEK, and RAF inhibitors, with the potential to reverse this multigene signature expression in uveal melanoma. Some of these molecules were able to impact tumour cell viability, and carvedilol, an adrenergic receptor antagonist, restored PLIN2 levels, mimicking the expression of normoxia/lipid storage signatures and reversing the expression of hypoxia/lipolysis signatures in co-cultures of uveal melanoma cells with human macrophages. These findings open up a new research line for understanding the lipid metabolic regulation of immune responses, with implications for therapeutic innovation in uveal melanoma. © 2023 The Authors. Kimura disease (KD) is a rare, chronic, inflammatory condition, predominantly found in male patients of Asian ethnicity. It typically presents between 50-60 years of age and usually with bilateral disease. Angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophilia (ALHE) remains the main differential diagnosis, although histological analysis is essential in differentiating from other similarly presenting pathologies. In this case, we present an atypical case of unilateral orbital KD in a middle-aged, Caucasian, male gentleman and no evidence of regional lymphadenopathy along with a literature review of orbital KD and the differential diagnoses, histological features and management modalities available, adding to the sparse literature on the topic. At present, no recognised diagnostic criteria for KD are available, with histopathological analysis through incisional or excisional biopsy being the primary diagnostic method. Complete surgical excision with or without corticosteroid management remains the most common treatment modality although management is shifting to steroid-sparing immunomodulatory therapy. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case to describe maintenance therapy of KD using mycophenolate mofetil.

Immune checkpoint therapies (ICT) can reinvigorate the effector functions of anti-tumour T cells, improving cancer patient outcomes. Anti-tumour T cells are initially formed during their first contact (priming) with tumour antigens by antigen-presenting cells (APCs). Unfortunately, many patients are refractory to ICT because their tumours are considered to be 'cold' tumours-i.e., they do not allow the generation of T cells (so-called 'desert' tumours) or the infiltration of existing anti-tumour T cells (T-cell-excluded tumours). Desert tumours disturb antigen processing and priming of T cells by targeting APCs with suppressive tumour factors derived from their genetic instabilities. In contrast, T-cell-excluded tumours are characterised by blocking effective anti-tumour T lymphocytes infiltrating cancer masses by obstacles, such as fibrosis and tumour-cell-induced immunosuppression. This review delves into critical mechanisms by which cancer cells induce T-cell 'desertification' and 'exclusion' in ICT refractory tumours. Filling the gaps in our knowledge regarding these pro-tumoral mechanisms will aid researchers in developing novel class immunotherapies that aim at restoring T-cell generation with more efficient priming by APCs and leukocyte tumour trafficking. Such developments are expected to unleash the clinical benefit of ICT in refractory patients.

PURPOSE: To report a previously unrecognized choroidal melanoma clinical feature termed tumor-associated retinal pigmentation (TARP) and determine any correlation with tumor biology. DESIGN: Imaging and histologic analysis of a retrospective cohort of patients. PARTICIPANTS: Patients with choroidal melanoma identified as having TARP on funduscopy at the Liverpool Ocular Oncology Centre (LOOC), United Kingdom, from January 2020 through January 2023. METHODS: Clinical and imaging characteristics of patients diagnosed with choroidal melanoma and exhibiting TARP on fundoscopy were documented. Details of these choroidal melanomas were collated and correlated with histopathology and molecular genetic reports. The chromosome 3 status of each tumor was assessed. In enucleated samples, immunostaining was undertaken to determine the nature of the TARP using specific markers (CD68 and MelanA). MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Features of TARP on widefield fundus color imaging, fundus autofluorescence (FAF), and OCT were described. Tumor chromosome 3 status and the immunoprofile of the TARP also were collated. RESULTS: Tumor-associated retinal pigmentation had a prevalence rate of 7.47 per 100 cases of choroidal melanoma at the LOOC. Twenty-three eyes with TARP were analyzed, with a mean age of 71.4 years (range, 51-88 years). The median largest basal diameter was 16.10 mm (range, 9.17-21.32 mm), and the mean tumor thickness was 8.04 mm (range, 1.40-13.80 mm). Tumor-associated retinal pigmentation was observed on widefield color fundus imaging, with hypofluorescence on FAF images and represented hyperreflective foci located in intraretinal and subretinal spaces on OCT scans. Seventeen patients (73.9%) underwent enucleation, and 6 patients (26.1%) underwent globe-sparing treatment. Molecular genetic analysis of 20 choroidal melanomas (after enucleation or radiotherapy biopsy) revealed monosomy 3 in 18 tumors (90%). Immunostaining of the TARP in enucleated eyes showed CD68+ melanophages in all 17 patients appearing as scattered cells and aggregates; MelanA findings were negative. CONCLUSIONS: Tumor-associated retinal pigmentation represents tumor-associated macrophages, not melanocytes, within intraretinal and subretinal spaces of larger choroidal melanomas. Radiation treatments need not involve this area in the treatment plan, minimizing radiation-related complications. This novel clinical sign seems to be linked to tumors of high metastatic-risk clinical and genetic characteristics, with a preponderance having monosomy 3 anomalies. RESUMO

Orbital trauma involving high-pressure grease guns is rare and can cause significant morbidity due to retained intraorbital grease. Grease can appear similar to intraorbital air on cross-sectional imaging, and clinicians should have a high index of suspicion for retained intraorbital grease and know how to recognise this. In this case, we will share the clinical and radiological findings as well as management of retained intraorbital grease.

Nomacopan, a drug originally derived from tick saliva, has dual functions of sequestering leukotriene B4 (LTB4) and inhibiting complement component 5 (C5) activation. Nomacopan has been shown to provide therapeutic benefit in experimental autoimmune uveitis (EAU). Longer acting forms of nomacopan were more efficacious in mouse EAU models, and the long-acting variant that inhibited only LTB4 was at least as effective as the long-acting variant that inhibited both C5 and LTB4, preventing structural damage to the retina and a significantly reducing effector T helper 17 cells and inflammatory macrophages. Increased levels of LTB4 and C5a (produced upon C5 activation) were detected during disease progression. Activated retinal lymphocytes were shown to express LTB4 receptors (R) in vitro and in inflamed draining lymph nodes. Levels of LTB4R-expressing active/inflammatory retinal macrophages were also increased. Within the draining lymph node CD4+ T-cell population, 30% expressed LTB4R+ following activation in vitro, whereas retinal infiltrating cells expressed LTB4R and C5aR. Validation of expression of those receptors in human uveitis and healthy tissues suggests that infiltrating cells could be targeted by inhibitors of the LTB4-LTB4 receptor 1 (BLT1) pathway as a novel therapeutic approach. This study provides novel data on intraocular LTB4 and C5a in EAU, their associated receptor expression by retinal infiltrating cells in mouse and human tissues, and in attenuating EAU via the dual inhibitor nomacopan.

RESUMO

Uveal Melanoma (UM) is the most common primary intra-ocular tumor in adults. New diagnostic procedures and basic science discoveries continue to change our patient management paradigms. A recent meeting of the European Vision Institute (EVI) special interest focus group was held on "Outcome Measures of New Technologies in Uveal Melanoma", addressing the latest advances in UM, starting with genetic developments, then moving on to imaging and treatment of the primary tumor, as well as to investigating the most recent developments in treating metastases, and eventually taking care of the patient's wellbeing. This review highlights the meeting's presentations in the context of the published literature.

Tissue diagnostics is the world of pathologists, and it is increasingly becoming digitalised to leverage the enormous potential of personalised medicine and of stratifying patients, enabling the administration of modern therapies. Therefore, the daily task for pathologists is changing drastically and will become increasingly demanding in order to take advantage of the development of modern computer technologies. The role of pathologist has rapidly evolved from exclusively describing the morphology and phenomenology of a disease, to becoming a gatekeeper for novel and most effective treatment options. This is possible based on the retrieval and management of a wide range of complex information from tissue or a group of cells and associated meta-data. Intelligent and self-learning software solutions can support and guide pathologists to score clinically relevant decisions based on the accurate and robust quantification of multiple target molecules or surrogate biomarker as companion or complimentary diagnostics along with relevant spatial relationships and contextual information from digital H&E and multiplexed images. With the availability of multiplex staining techniques on a single slide, high-resolution image analysis tools, and high-end computer hardware, machine and deep learning solutions now offer diagnostic rulesets and algorithms that still require clinical validation in well-designed studies. Before entering the clinical practice, the 'human factor' pathologist needs to develop trust in the output coming from the 'digital black box of computational pathology', including image analysis solutions and artificial intelligence algorithms to support critical clinical decisions which otherwise would not be available. © 2020 Pathological Society of Great Britain and Ireland. Immunotherapy using immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) induces durable responses in many metastatic cancers. Metastatic uveal melanoma (mUM), typically occurring in the liver, is one of the most refractory tumours to ICIs and has dismal outcomes. Monosomy 3 (M3), polysomy 8q, and BAP1 loss in primary uveal melanoma (pUM) are associated with poor prognoses. The presence of tumour-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) within pUM and surrounding mUM - and some evidence of clinical responses to adoptive TIL transfer - strongly suggests that UMs are indeed immunogenic despite their low mutational burden. The mechanisms that suppress TILs in pUM and mUM are unknown. We show that BAP1 loss is correlated with upregulation of several genes associated with suppressive immune responses, some of which build an immune suppressive axis, including HLA-DR, CD38, and CD74. Further, single-cell analysis of pUM by mass cytometry confirmed the expression of these and other markers revealing important functions of infiltrating immune cells in UM, most being regulatory CD8+ T lymphocytes and tumour-associated macrophages (TAMs). Transcriptomic analysis of hepatic mUM revealed similar immune profiles to pUM with BAP1 loss, including the expression of IDO1. At the protein level, we observed TAMs and TILs entrapped within peritumoural fibrotic areas surrounding mUM, with increased expression of IDO1, PD-L1, and ß-catenin (CTNNB1), suggesting tumour-driven immune exclusion and hence the immunotherapy resistance. These findings aid the understanding of how the immune response is organised in BAP1 - mUM, which will further enable functional validation of detected biomarkers and the development of focused immunotherapeutic approaches. © 2020 The Authors. The teaching of medical pathology has undergone significant change in the last 30-40 years, especially in the context of employing bottled specimens or 'pots' in classroom settings. The reduction in post-mortem based teaching in medical training programs has resulted in less focus being placed on the ability of students to describe the gross anatomical pathology of specimens. Financial considerations involved in employing staff to maintain bottled specimens, space constraints and concerns with health and safety of staff and student laboratories have meant that many institutions have decommissioned their pathology collections. This report details how full-colour surface scanning coupled with CT scanning and 3 D printing allows the digital archiving of gross pathological specimens and the production of reproductions or replicas of preserved human anatomical pathology specimens that obviates many of the above issues. With modern UV curable resin printing technology, it is possible to achieve photographic quality accurate replicas comparable to the original specimens in many aspects except haptic quality. Accurate 3 D reproductions of human pathology specimens offer many advantages over traditional bottled specimens including the capacity to generate multiple copies and their use in any educational setting giving access to a broader range of potential learners and users.

Persistent non-infectious uveitis has a significant morbidity, but the extent to which this is accompanied by inflammation driven remodelling of the tissue is unclear. To address this question, we studied a series of samples selected from two ocular tissue repositories and identified 15 samples with focal infiltration. Eleven of fifteen contained lymphocytes, both B cells (CD20 positive) and T cells (CD3 positive). In 20% of the samples there was evidence of ectopic lymphoid like structures with focal aggregations of B cells and T cells, segregated into anatomically different adjacent zones. To investigate inflammation in the tissue, an analysis of 520 immune relevant transcripts was carried out and 24 genes were differentially upregulated, compared with control tissue. Two of these (CD14 and fibronectin) were increased in ocular inflammation compared to control immune tissue (tonsil). We demonstrate that in a significant minority of patients, chronic persistent uveitis leads to dysregulation of ocular immune surveillance, characterized by the development of areas of local ectopic lymphoid like structures, which may be a target for therapeutic intervention directed at antibody producing cells.

Uveal melanoma (UM) is a rare tumour of the eye, characterised by a high propensity to metastasise in half of all patients, most frequently to the liver. Although there are effective treatment options for the primary tumour, once metastasis has occurred prognosis is poor, with overall survival limited to months. Currently, there are no effective treatments for metastatic UM, despite the tumour having a well-defined signalling pathway to which many therapies have been directed. In an effort to develop novel treatment approaches, understanding the role of other signalling molecules, such as microRNAs, is fundamental. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNA molecules involved in posttranscriptional gene regulation, resulting in reduced target gene expression and subsequent protein translation. In UM, several dysregulated miRNAs have been proposed to play a functional role in disease progression, whereas others have been put forward as clinical biomarkers of high-risk disease following isolation from blood, plasma and exosomes. Most recently, analyses of large datasets have identified promising prognostic miRNA signatures and panels. This review navigates the plethora of aberrant miRNAs disclosed so far in UM, and maps these to signalling pathways, which could be targeted in future therapies for the disseminated disease.

BACKGROUND: Pathology has evolved from a purely morphological description of cellular alterations in disease to our current ability to interrogate tissues with multiple 'omics' technologies. By utilising these techniques and others, 'molecular diagnostics' acts as the cornerstone of precision/personalised medicine by attempting to match the underlying disease mechanisms to the most appropriate targeted therapy. METHODS: Despite the promises of molecular diagnostics, significant barriers have impeded its widespread clinical adoption. Thus, the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) Cellular Molecular Pathology (CM-Path) initiative convened a national Molecular Diagnostics Forum to facilitate closer collaboration between clinicians, academia, industry, regulators and other key stakeholders in an attempt to overcome these. RESULTS: We agreed on a consensus 'roadmap' that should be followed during development and implementation of new molecular diagnostic tests. We identified key barriers to efficient implementation and propose possible solutions to these. In addition, we discussed the recent reconfiguration of molecular diagnostic services in NHS England and its likely impacts. CONCLUSIONS: We anticipate that this consensus statement will provide practical advice to those involved in the development of novel molecular diagnostic tests. Although primarily focusing on test adoption within the United Kingdom, we also refer to international guidelines to maximise the applicability of our recommendations.

PURPOSE: GNAQ mutations have been identified in port wine stains (both syndromic and nonsyndromic) and melanocytic ocular neoplasms. This study investigates the presence of GNAQ mutations in diffuse (those associated with Sturge-Weber syndrome [SWS]) and solitary choroidal hemangiomas. PARTICIPANTS: Tissue from 11 patients with the following diagnoses: port wine stain (n = 3), diffuse choroidal hemangioma (n = 1), solitary choroidal hemangioma (n = 6), and choroidal nevus (n = 1). METHODS: Ten specimens were interrogated with Memorial Sloan Kettering-Integrated Mutation Profiling of Actionable Cancer Targets, a hybridization capture-based next-generation sequencing assay for targeted deep sequencing of all exons and selected introns of 468 key cancer genes in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tumors. Digital polymerase chain reaction was used to detect GNAQ Q209 mutation in 1 specimen. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Detection of GNAQ codon-specific mutation. RESULTS: Activating somatic GNAQ mutations (c.547C > T; p.Arg183Cys) were found in 100% (3 of 3) of the port wine stain and in the diffuse choroidal hemangioma. Somatic GNAQ mutations (c.626A > T; p.Gln209Leu) were found in 100% (6 of 6) of the solitary choroidal hemangiomas and (c.626A > C; p.Gln209Pro) in the choroidal nevus. CONCLUSIONS: GNAQ mutations occur in both diffuse and solitary hemangiomas, although at distinct codons. An R183 codon is mutant in diffuse choroidal hemangiomas, consistent with other Sturge-Weber vascular malformations. By contrast, solitary choroidal hemangiomas have mutations in the Q209 codon, similar to other intraocular melanocytic neoplasms.

Sebaceous carcinoma is an aggressive malignancy with a high mortality rate that commonly arises in the periorbital area. Rarely, the lacrimal apparatus may be involved by either contiguous or noncontiguous spread. The authors describe 2 unusual cases of sebaceous carcinoma in the lacrimal sac, presenting as a medial canthal mass simulating chronic dacryocystitis. In Case 1, the sebaceous carcinoma occurred primarily in the lacrimal sac, in the absence of concurrent or previous ocular adnexal sebaceous neoplasia. Mapping biopsies found no evidence of intraepithelial disease. Case 2 developed a late noncontiguous disease recurrence involving the lacrimal sac 5 years postprimary resection of an ipsilateral eyelid sebaceous carcinoma. These cases demonstrate atypical mode of spread of sebaceous carcinoma in lacrimal excretory system. It is important to regard the nasolacrimal drainage system as a potential reservoir for neoplastic sebaceous cells and minimize the risk of tumor cell dissemination during surgical management of eyelid or conjunctival sebaceous cell tumors.

The objective was to evaluate the relative efficacy of dialectical behavior therapy modified for stalking offenders (DBT-S) versus a cognitive-behavioral anger management intervention for the treatment of stalking offenders. We expected DBT to result in significantly lower rates of renewed stalking behavior and significantly greater improvements in impulsivity, aggression, anger, and empathy. We randomly assigned individuals charged with stalking-related offences (N = 109) to one of two study interventions: DBT-S and anger management. Recidivism (renewed stalking, violence, and other offences) was monitored for 1 year following the baseline assessment, and participants completed a battery of self-report questionnaires before and after treatment and at a 1-year follow-up assessment. We found relatively low rates of reoffence when compared to past studies of untreated stalking offenders in the U.S., but type of treatment had no impact on the likelihood of reoffence, nor did completion of the treatment program. Likewise, there was no between-groups difference in rates of treatment completion, or on changes in self-report measures. Intensive treatment focused on reducing problematic behaviors in stalking offenders may be effective regardless of treatment modality, but the mechanism by which treatment impacts criminal behavior is not yet clear.
