Introduction. Leclercia adecarboxylata is a member of Enterobacterales, often considered an opportunistic pathogen. Recent reports have highlighted L. adecarboxylata as an emerging pathogen harbouring virulence and resistance determinants.Gap statement. Little information exists on virulence and resistance determinants in L. adecarboxylata strains isolated from environmental, food, and clinical samples.Aim. To determine the presence of resistance and virulence determinants and plasmid features in L. adecarboxylata strains isolated from environmental, food, and clinical samples, as well as their phylogenetic relationship.Results. All strains tested showed resistance to ß-lactams and quinolones but were sensitive to aminoglycosides and nitrofurans. However, even though fosfomycin resistance is considered a characteristic trait of L. adecarboxylata, the resistance phenotype was only observed in 50â% of the strains; bla TEM was the most prevalent BLEE gene (70â%), while the quinolone qnrB gene was observed in 60â% of the strains. Virulence genes were differentially observed in the strains, with adhesion-related genes being the most abundant, followed by toxin genes. Finally, all strains carried one to seven plasmid bands ranging from 7 to 125 kbps and harboured several plasmid addiction systems, such as ParDE, VagCD, and CcdAB in 80â% of the strains.Conclusions. L. adecarboxylata is an important emerging pathogen that may harbour resistance and virulence genes. Additionally, it has mobilizable genetic elements that may contribute to the dissemination of genetic determinants to other bacterial genera.

BACKGROUND: This study evaluated the effects of concurrent isolated training (T) or training combined with the antioxidant N-acetylcysteine (NAC) on cardiac remodeling and oxidative stress in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR). METHODS: Six-month-old male SHR were divided into sedentary (S, n = 12), concurrent training (T, n = 13), sedentary supplemented with NAC (SNAC, n = 13), and concurrent training with NAC supplementation (TNAC, n = 14) groups. T and TNAC rats were trained three times a week on a treadmill and ladder; NAC supplemented groups received 120 mg/kg/day NAC in rat chow for eight weeks. Myocardial antioxidant enzyme activity and lipid hydroperoxide concentration were assessed by spectrophotometry. Gene expression of NADPH oxidase subunits Nox2, Nox4, p22 phox, and p47 phox was evaluated by real time RT-PCR. Statistical analysis was performed using ANOVA and Bonferroni or Kruskal-Wallis and Dunn. RESULTS: Echocardiogram showed concentric remodeling in TNAC, characterized by increased relative wall thickness (S 0.40 ± 0.04; T 0.39 ± 0.03; SNAC 0.40 ± 0.04; TNAC 0.43 ± 0.04 *; * p < 0.05 vs T and SNAC) and diastolic posterior wall thickness (S 1.50 ± 0.12; T 1.52 ± 0.10; SNAC 1.56 ± 0.12; TNAC 1.62 ± 0.14 * mm; * p < 0.05 vs T), with improved contractile function (posterior wall shortening velocity: S 39.4 ± 5.01; T 36.4 ± 2.96; SNAC 39.7 ± 3.44; TNAC 41.6 ± 3.57 * mm/s; * p < 0.05 vs T). Myocardial lipid hydroperoxide concentration was lower in NAC treated groups (S 210 ± 48; T 182 ± 43; SNAC 159 ± 33 *; TNAC 110 ± 23 *# nmol/g tissue; * p < 0.05 vs S, # p < 0.05 vs T and SNAC). Nox 2 and p22 phox expression was higher and p47 phox lower in T than S [S 1.37 (0.66-1.66); T 0.78 (0.61-1.04) *; SNAC 1.07 (1.01-1.38); TNAC 1.06 (1.01-1.15) arbitrary units; * p < 0.05 vs S]. NADPH oxidase subunits did not differ between TNAC, SNAC, and S groups. CONCLUSION: N-acetylcysteine supplementation alone reduces oxidative stress in untreated spontaneously hypertensive rats. The combination of N-acetylcysteine and concurrent exercise further decreases oxidative stress. However, the lower oxidative stress does not translate into improved cardiac remodeling and function in untreated spontaneously hypertensive rats.

The adaptation of amphibians to diverse environments is closely related to the characteristics of their skin. The complex glandular system of frog skin plays a pivotal role in enabling these animals to thrive in both aquatic and terrestrial habitats and consists of crucial functions such as respiration and water balance as well as serving as a defensive barrier due to the secretion of bioactive compounds. We herein report the first investigation on the skin secretion of Odontophrynus americanus, as a potential source of bioactive peptides and also as an indicator of its evolutionary adaptations to changing environments. Americanin-1 was isolated and identified as a neutral peptide exhibiting moderate antibacterial activity against E. coli. Its amphipathic sequence including 19 amino acids and showing a propensity for α-helix structure is discussed. Comparisons of the histomorphology of the skin of O. americanus with other previously documented species within the same genus revealed distinctive features in the Patagonian specimen, differing from conspecifics from other Argentine provinces. The presence of the Eberth-Katschenko layer, a prevalence of iridophores, and the existence of glycoconjugates in its serous glands suggest that the integument is adapted to retain skin moisture. This adaptation is consistent with the prevailing aridity of its native habitat.

Snake venoms contain various bradykinin-potentiating peptides (BPPs). First studied for their vasorelaxant properties due to angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibition, these molecules present a range of binding partners, among them the argininosuccinate synthase (AsS) enzyme. This has renewed interest in their characterization from biological sources and the evaluation of their pharmacological activities. In the present work, the low molecular weight fraction of Bothrops moojeni venom was obtained and BPPs were characterized by mass spectrometry. Eleven BPPs or related peptides were sequenced, and one of them, BPP-Bm01, was new. Interestingly, some oxidized BPPs were detected. The three most abundant peptides were BPP-Bm01, BPP-Bax12, and BPP-13a, and their putative interactions with the AsS enzyme were investigated in silico. A binding cavity for these molecules was predicted, and docking studies allowed their ranking. Three peptides were synthesized and submitted to vasorelaxation assays using rat aortic rings. While all BPPs were active, BPP-Bm01 showed the highest potency in this assay. This work adds further diversity to BPPs from snake venoms and suggests, for the first time, a putative binding pocket for these molecules in the AsS enzyme. This can guide the design of new and more potent AsS activators.

Multirotors Aerial Vehicles are special class of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles with many practical applications. The growing demand for this class of aircraft requires tools that speed up their development. Simulated environments have gained increasing importance, as they facilitate testing and prototyping solutions, where virtual environments allow real-time interaction with simulated models, with similar behavior to real systems. More recently, the use of Augmented Reality has allowed an increasing experience of immersion and integration between the virtual world and a real scenario. This work proposes the use of Augmented Reality technology and a simulated model of a multirotor to create an interactive flight environment, aiming to improve the user experience in the analysis of simulated models. For this purpose, a smartphone was adopted as a hardware platform, a game engine is used as a basis for the development of the Augmented Reality application, that represents a numerical simulation of the flight dynamics and the control system of a multirotor, and a game controller is adopted for user interaction. The resulting system demonstrates that Augmented Reality is a viable technology that can be used to increase the possibilities of evaluating simulated systems.

BACKGROUND: A range of safe and effective vaccines against SARS CoV 2 are needed to address the COVID 19 pandemic. We aimed to assess the safety and efficacy of the COVID-19 vaccine SCB-2019. METHODS: This ongoing phase 2 and 3 double-blind, placebo-controlled trial was done in adults aged 18 years and older who were in good health or with a stable chronic health condition, at 31 sites in five countries (Belgium, Brazil, Colombia, Philippines, and South Africa). The participants were randomly assigned 1:1 using a centralised internet randomisation system to receive two 0·5 mL intramuscular doses of SCB-2019 (30 µg, adjuvanted with 1·50 mg CpG-1018 and 0·75 mg alum) or placebo (0·9% sodium chloride for injection supplied in 10 mL ampoules) 21 days apart. All study staff and participants were masked, but vaccine administrators were not. Primary endpoints were vaccine efficacy, measured by RT-PCR-confirmed COVID-19 of any severity with onset from 14 days after the second dose in baseline SARS-CoV-2 seronegative participants (the per-protocol population), and the safety and solicited local and systemic adverse events in the phase 2 subset. This study is registered on EudraCT (2020-004272-17) and ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT04672395). FINDINGS: 30 174 participants were enrolled from March 24, 2021, until the cutoff date of Aug 10, 2021, of whom 30 128 received their first assigned vaccine (n=15 064) or a placebo injection (n=15 064). The per-protocol population consisted of 12 355 baseline SARS-CoV-2-naive participants (6251 vaccinees and 6104 placebo recipients). Most exclusions (13 389 [44·4%]) were because of seropositivity at baseline. There were 207 confirmed per-protocol cases of COVID-19 at 14 days after the second dose, 52 vaccinees versus 155 placebo recipients, and an overall vaccine efficacy against any severity COVID-19 of 67·2% (95·72% CI 54·3-76·8), 83·7% (97·86% CI 55·9-95·4) against moderate-to-severe COVID-19, and 100% (97·86% CI 25·3-100·0) against severe COVID-19. All COVID-19 cases were due to virus variants; vaccine efficacy against any severity COVID-19 due to the three predominant variants was 78·7% (95% CI 57·3-90·4) for delta, 91·8% (44·9-99·8) for gamma, and 58·6% (13·3-81·5) for mu. No safety issues emerged in the follow-up period for the efficacy analysis (median of 82 days [IQR 63-103]). The vaccine elicited higher rates of mainly mild-to-moderate injection site pain than the placebo after the first (35·7% [287 of 803] vs 10·3% [81 of 786]) and second (26·9% [189 of 702] vs 7·4% [52 of 699]) doses, but the rates of other solicited local and systemic adverse events were similar between the groups. INTERPRETATION: Two doses of SCB-2019 vaccine plus CpG and alum provides notable protection against the entire severity spectrum of COVID-19 caused by circulating SAR-CoV-2 viruses, including the predominating delta variant. Based on the reported nucleation mechanisms for CsPbX3and II-VI/IV-VI quantum dots, CsPbBr3nanoparticles with a higher reaction-yield (up to 393% mass-increment) were synthetized by the hot-injection method. The introduction of diphenylphosphine (DPP) as a reducing agent improved nanoparticle nucleation and growth, giving out evidence for Pb-seeding in CsPbBr3nanoparticles formation. Additionally, a clear influence of the DPP in a CsPbBr3-Cs4PbBr6incomplete phase transformation was observed, marked by the appearance of several PbBr2nanoparticles. This indicated the need for an improved ratio between the stabilizing agents and the precursors, due to the increased number of nucleation sites produced by DPP. The resulting CsPbBr3nanoparticles showed high quality, as they displayed 70%-90% photoluminescence quantum yield; narrow size distribution with an average nanoparticle size ofâ¼10 nm; and the characteristic cubic morphology reported in previous works. This increment in CsPbBr3nanoparticles' reaction yield will contribute to making them a more attractive option for different optoelectronic applications.

Disintegrins comprise a family of small proteins that bind to and alter the physiological function of integrins, especially integrins that mediate platelet aggregation in blood. Here, we report a lysine-glycine-aspartic acid (KGD) disintegrin-like motif present in a 15-amino acid residue peptide identified in a cDNA library of the amphibian Hypsiboas punctatus skin. The original peptide sequence was used as a template from which five new analogs were designed, chemically synthesized by solid phase, and tested for disintegrin activity and tridimensional structural studies using NMR spectroscopy. The original amphibian peptide had no effect on integrin-mediated responses. Nevertheless, derived peptide analogs inhibited integrin-mediated platelet function, including platelet spreading on fibrinogen.

With advancements in medical treatments for cancer, an increase in the life expectancy of patients undergoing new treatments is expected. Consequently, the field of statistics has evolved to present increasingly flexible models to explain such results better. In this paper, we present a lung cancer dataset with some covariates that exhibit nonproportional hazards (NPHs). Besides, the presence of long-term survivors is observed in subgroups. The proposed modeling is based on the generalized time-dependent logistic model with each subgroup's effect time and a random term effect (frailty). In practice, essential covariates are not observed for several reasons. In this context, frailty models are useful in modeling to quantify the amount of unobservable heterogeneity. The frailty distribution adopted was the weighted Lindley distribution, which has several interesting properties, such as the Laplace transform function on closed form, flexibility in the probability density function, among others. The proposed model allows for NPHs and long-term survivors in subgroups. Parameter estimation was performed using the maximum likelihood method, and Monte Carlo simulation studies were conducted to evaluate the estimators' performance. We exemplify this model's use by applying data of patients diagnosed with lung cancer in the state of São Paulo, Brazil.

The anti-inflammatory properties of Turnera subulata have been evaluated as an alternative drug approach to treating several inflammatory processes. Accordingly, in this study, aqueous and hydroalcoholic extracts of T. subulata flowers and leaves were analyzed regarding their phytocomposition by ultrafast liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry, and their anti-inflammatory properties were assessed by an in vitro inflammation model, using LPS-stimulated RAW-264.7 macrophages. The phytochemical profile indicated vitexin-2-O-rhamnoside as an important constituent in both extracts, while methoxyisoflavones, some bulky amino acids (e.g., tryptophan, tyrosine, phenylalanine), pheophorbides, and octadecatrienoic, stearidonic, and ferulic acids were detected in hydroalcoholic extracts. The extracts displayed the ability to modulate the in vitro inflammatory response by altering the secretion of proinflammatory (TNF-α, IL-1ß, and IL-6) and anti-inflammatory (IL-10) cytokines and inhibiting the PGE-2 and NO production. Overall, for the first time, putative compounds from T. subulata flowers and leaves were characterized, which can modulate the inflammatory process. Therefore, the data highlight this plant as an option to obtain extracts for phytotherapic formulations to treat and/or prevent chronic diseases.

INTRODUCTION: Fixed orthodontic appliances create areas of stagnation for dental biofilms and make it difficult to clean the teeth; therefore, there is a risk of developing incipient caries lesions during the orthodontic treatment. The objective of this study is to determine if the combination of 2 different therapies, phototherapy by blue light (BL) and the antimicrobial 0.12% chlorhexidine (CHX) on enamel, orthodontic brackets, and elastics, would reduce or inhibit mature Streptococcus mutans biofilms and their regrowth on these substrates 24 hours after the application of the treatment; and if this treatment would interfere with bracket adhesion to the enamel. METHODS: Biofilms of S. mutans UA159 were formed for 5-days over samples composed of a bovine enamel, orthodontic bracket, and orthodontic elastic. Then, the specimens were treated with 0.89% NaCl for 1 minute, BL for 12 minutes (72 J/cm2), 0.12% CHX for 1 minute, and BL for 12 minutes, followed by 0.12% CHX for 1 minute (BL+CHX). Biofilm was evaluated by colonies forming units and dry weight immediately after treatments and 24 hours after treatments (regrowth). The pH of the spent media was measured on the fifth and sixth days. Biofilm formation on the samples after the treatments and regrowth was visually evaluated by confocal laser scanning microscopy. Shear bond strength (SBS) between bracket and enamel was evaluated using a universal testing machine at a crosshead speed of 1 mm/min. After bonding, specimens were thermocycled (500× at 5-55°C), treated, and thermocycled again. RESULTS: After 5 days of biofilm formation, BL+CHX significantly reduced the bacterial viability on enamel compared with NaCl (P = 0.004) and BL (P = 0.014). For bracket and elastic, all the treatments resulted in similar bacterial viability (P ≥0.081). In the regrowth, CHX and BL+CHX significantly reduced the bacterial viability in the enamel compared with the NaCl (P ≤0.015) and BL (P ≤0.013). For bracket, BL+CHX significantly reduced the bacterial viability compared with NaCl (P = 0.008) and BL (P = 0.009). For the elastic, BL+CHX eliminated the biofilms from the substrate. CHX and BL+CHX significantly reduced the bacterial viability 24 hours after treatment for all substrates (P ≤0.05). The media pH significantly increased when samples were treated with CHX and BL+CHX (P ≤0.001). Confocal laser scanning microscopy images visually showed an abundant quantity of red cells in the samples treated with BL+CHX. There was no difference in the SBS between the treatments (P ≥0.932). CONCLUSIONS: The association between BL and CHX reduced S. mutans biofilm and its regrowth on an in vitro orthodontic model and did not influence the bonding strength between bracket and enamel.

ABSTRACT: Contour augmentation and mandibular angle modification surgery is becoming increasingly. The aim of this research is to compare technique and outcomes in augmentations done with standard implants or PEEK-based patient specific implants (PSI) in mandibular angle. Data from surgical planning, operative and post-operative of 6 months follow-up were revised for 21 patients who were submitted to facial surgery using a stock implant obtained from companies currently on the market or 3D implants created with CAD/CAM technology using PEEK 3D printing. Surgical time, intra-operative and post-operative complications were compared, analyzing the advantages and disadvantage of each technique. Statistical analyses using t-test and chi-squared were performed considering P value<â0.05 for statistical differences. Twelve patients were operated on with stock implants and nine patients with PSI. The surgical time was 15 minutes less for the 3D implant surgeries (Pâ=â0.021) and intraoperatively only the stock implants needed modifications with wear and adaptation methods; post-operative infections were observed in both groups with no significant differences (Pâ>â0.05). The 3D implants had greater levels of facial symmetry than the stock implants, although they did not present significant differences.Considering the limitations of this study, mandibular angle implants with a PEEK-based 3D CAD/CAM are efficient, stable and have a low complication rate; the CAD/CAM strategy is useful in facial surgery and can be integrated as a standard for surgical planning in facial makeover surgery.

In this paper, we propose a novel frailty model for modeling unobserved heterogeneity present in survival data. Our model is derived by using a weighted Lindley distribution as the frailty distribution. The respective frailty distribution has a simple Laplace transform function which is useful to obtain marginal survival and hazard functions. We assume hazard functions of the Weibull and Gompertz distributions as the baseline hazard functions. A classical inference procedure based on the maximum likelihood method is presented. Extensive simulation studies are further performed to verify the behavior of maximum likelihood estimators under different proportions of right-censoring and to assess the performance of the likelihood ratio test to detect unobserved heterogeneity in different sample sizes. Finally, to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed model, we use it to analyze a medical dataset from a population-based study of incident cases of lung cancer diagnosed in the state of São Paulo, Brazil.

Toothwear is a growing concern, particularly in young adults. Prevention strategies remain of utmost importance and may involve the use of remineralising agents. If restorative treatment is indicated, adhesive techniques are recommended. It is unknown whether remineralising agents affect adhesion. METHOD: 77 bovine incisors were subjected to simulated toothwear by erosion (0.3% citric acid) and abrasion (oscillating toothbrush). Samples were randomly arranged into 5 test and 2 control groups (n=11). Each test group had a remineralising agent applied. Subsequently, composite was bonded to each sample and subjected to shear bond testing. Shear bond strength, mode of failure and enamel surface changes were analysed. RESULTS: There was no statistically significant difference for bond strength between groups (p=0.262). Mode of failure was statistically significant between groups (p⟨0.0001). Qualitative analysis showed a surface layer on samples remineralised by calcium silicate and stannous fluoride. Both groups had more adhesive failures. CONCLUSION: Within the limitations of this study, it can be concluded that the remineralising agents tested do not affect shear bond strength though surface layers created on the enamel influence the mode of failure. These 'sacrificial' surface layers have the potential to protect the underlying enamel structure.

We compared the influence of aerobic and resistance exercise on cardiac remodelling, physical capacity and skeletal muscle oxidative stress in rats with MI-induced heart failure. Three months after MI induction, Wistar rats were divided into four groups: Sham; sedentary MI (S-MI); aerobic exercised MI (A-MI); and resistance exercised MI (R-MI). Exercised rats trained three times a week for 12 weeks on a treadmill or ladder. Statistical analysis was performed by ANOVA or Kruskal-Wallis test. Functional aerobic capacity was greater in A-MI and strength gain higher in R-MI. Echocardiographic parameters did not differ between infarct groups. Reactive oxygen species production, evaluated by fluorescence, was higher in S-MI than Sham, and lipid hydroperoxide concentration was lower in A-MI than the other groups. Glutathione peroxidase activity was higher in A-MI than S-MI and R-MI. Superoxide dismutase was lower in S-MI than Sham and R-MI. Gastrocnemius cross-sectional area, satellite cell activation and expression of the ubiquitin-proteasome system proteins did not differ between groups. In conclusion, aerobic exercise and resistance exercise improve functional capacity and maximum load carrying, respectively, without changing cardiac remodelling in infarcted rats. In the gastrocnemius, infarction increases oxidative stress and changes antioxidant enzyme activities. Aerobic exercise reduces oxidative stress and attenuates superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase changes.

We evaluated the influence of aerobic exercise on cardiac remodelling during the transition from compensated left ventricular (LV) hypertrophy to clinical heart failure in aortic stenosis (AS) rats. Eighteen weeks after AS induction, rats were assigned into sedentary (AS) and exercised (AS-Ex) groups. Results were compared to Sham rats. Exercise was performed on treadmill for 8 weeks. Exercise improved functional capacity. Echocardiogram showed no differences between AS-Ex and AS groups. After exercise, fractional shortening and ejection fraction were lower in AS-Ex than Sham. Myocyte diameter and interstitial collagen fraction were higher in AS and AS-Ex than Sham; however, myocyte diameter was higher in AS-Ex than AS. Myocardial oxidative stress, evaluated by lipid hydroperoxide concentration, was higher in AS than Sham and was normalized by exercise. Gene expression of the NADPH oxidase subunits NOX2 and NOX4, which participate in ROS generation, did not differ between groups. Activity of the antioxidant enzyme superoxide dismutase was lower in AS and AS-Ex than Sham and glutathione peroxidase was lower in AS-Ex than Sham. Total and reduced myocardial glutathione, which is involved in cellular defence against oxidative stress, was lower in AS than Sham and total glutathione was higher in AS-Ex than AS. The MAPK JNK was higher in AS-Ex than Sham and AS groups. Phosphorylated P38 was lower in AS-Ex than AS. Despite improving functional capacity, aerobic exercise does not change LV function in AS rats. Exercise restores myocardial glutathione, reduces oxidative stress, impairs JNK signalling and further induces myocyte hypertrophy.

The objective of this study was to understand whether spatial differences in runoff generation mechanisms affect the magnitudes of diurnal streamflow fluctuations during low flow periods and which part of the catchment induces the diurnal streamflow signal. The spatiotemporal variability of the streamflow fluctuations observed at 12 locations in the 66-ha Hydrological Open Air Laboratory experimental catchment in Austria was explained by differences in the vegetation cover and runoff generation mechanisms. Almost a quarter of the volume associated with diurnal streamflow fluctuations at the catchment outlet was explained by transpiration from vegetation along the tributaries; more than three quarters was due to transpiration by the riparian forest along the main stream. The lag times between radiative forcing and evapotranspiration estimated by a solar radiation-driven model increased from 3 to 11 hr from spring to autumn. The recession time scales increased from 21 days in spring to 54 days in autumn. Observations and model simulations suggest that a separation of scales in transpiration effects on low flows exists both in time and space; that is, the diurnal streamflow fluctuations are induced by transpiration from the riparian vegetation, while most of the catchment evapotranspiration, such as evapotranspiration from the crop fields further away from the stream, do not influence the diurnal signal in streamflow.

The Paspalum genus includes several species that are important for livestock in Rio Grande do Sul, such as P. notatum and P. guenoarum, typical of native pastures of the Pampa biome. The aim of this study was to investigate forage production and chemical composition of four ecotypes of these species in relation to the cv. 'Pensacola' (P. notatum). Ecotypes of P. guenoarum (Azulão and Baio) and P. notatum (André da Rocha and Bagual) and the cv. 'Pensacola' were evaluated for two years, during which four cuts/year were made. The work was carried out under field conditions at the Agronomic Experimental Station of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (30°05'S; 51°39'W), in a completely randomized design. P. guenoarum stood out for higher productivity and greater tolerance to cold; the Azulão ecotype showed more autumn production in relation to the other ecotypes. Crude protein content ranged from 14 (Baio) to 15% ('Pensacola'); for neutral detergent fiber, the variation was 68 (Azulão) to 71% ('Pensacola') and for acid detergent fiber there was a variation of 38 ('Pensacola') to 43% (Baio). The data demonstrates the potential of native genotypes for use as cattle feeding in southern Brazil.

Malignant fibrous histiocytoma is a sarcoma with rare occurrence in the oral and maxillofacial region; surgery is the most reliable treatment. Inadequate resection of the sarcoma on the oral and maxillofacial region is associated with a high incidence of local recurrence and a poor prognosis. Only few patients of malignant fibrous histiocytoma of the malar region have been previously reported in the literature. The authors report a new patient of malignant fibrous histiocytoma on the right malar region that treated a complete tumor surgical excision without lymph node dissection. Examination of the resected specimen revealed that the tumor was completely removed.
