RESUMO

Drastic increases in myofiber number and size are essential to support vertebrate post-embryonic growth. However, the collective cellular behaviors that enable these increases have remained elusive. Here, we created the palmuscle myofiber tagging and tracking system for in toto monitoring of the growth and fates of ~5000 fast myofibers in developing zebrafish larvae. Through live tracking of individual myofibers within the same individuals over extended periods, we found that many larval myofibers readily dissolved during development, enabling the on-site addition of new and more myofibers. Remarkably, whole-body surveillance of multicolor-barcoded myofibers further unveiled a gradual yet extensive elimination of larval myofiber populations, resulting in near-total replacement by late juvenile stages. The subsequently emerging adult myofibers are not only long-lasting, but also morphologically and functionally distinct from the larval populations. Furthermore, we determined that the elimination-replacement process is dependent on and driven by the autophagy pathway. Altogether, we propose that the whole-body replacement of larval myofibers is an inherent yet previously unnoticed process driving organismic muscle growth during vertebrate post-embryonic development.

RESUMO

Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is the most common autoimmune disorder characterized by decreased platelet counts and impaired platelet production. Eltrombopag has been demonstrated to be safe and effective for children with ITP. It is reported eltrombopag can achieve a sustained response off treatment. However, data on its overall efficacy and safety profile are scarce in children. This study aimed to investigate the long-term efficacy of eltrombopag in children with ITP. Treatment overall response (OR), complete response (CR), response (R), durable response (DR), no response (NR), treatment free remission (TFR), and relapse rate, were assessed in 103 children with ITP during eltrombopag therapy. The OR rate, CR rate, R rate, DR rate, NR rate, TFR rate, and relapse rate were 67.0%, 55.3%, 11.7%, 56.3%, 33.0%, 60%, 36.2%, respectively. Importantly, we discovered that newly diagnosed ITP patients showed a higher DR rate, TFR rate and lower relapse rate compared to persistent and chronic ITP patients. Furthermore, the CR rate, DR rate, and TFR rate of 5 patients under six months were 100%. None of them suffered relapse. The most common adverse event (AEs) was hepatotoxicity (7.77%). Our study highlighted the critical role of eltrombopag as the second-line treatment in children with ITP who were intolerant to first-line therapy.

RESUMO

The glutamate decarboxylase (GAD) system is one of the acid-resistant systems of Listeria monocytogenes (L. monocytogenes), while the regulatory mechanism of GadT2/GadD2, which plays the major role in the GAD system for acid resistance, is not clear. The two-component system (TCS) is a signal transduction system that is also involved in regulating acid resistance in bacteria. By screening the TCSs of L. monocytogenes 10403S, we found that knocking out the TCS LisSR (encoded by lmo1021/lmo1022) led to a significant increase in the transcription and expression of the gadT2/gadD2 cluster. Subsequently, we constructed a complemental strain CΔliaSR. and a complemental strain with LiaS His157 to Ala, which was designated as CΔliaSRH157A. Survival assay, transcriptional and expression analysis and pathogenicity assay revealed that liaSR deletion significantly enhanced the acid resistance and pathogenicity of 10403S and significantly increased the gadT2/gadD2 transcription and expression. Mutating LiaS His157 to Ala significantly enhanced the acid resistance and pathogenicity of CΔliaSR and significantly increased the gadT2/gadD2 transcription and expression. The results suggest that the two-component system LiaSR mediates the acid resistance and pathogenicity in 10403S by inhibiting the gadT2/gadD2 cluster, and the key activation site of LiaS is His157. This study provides novel knowledge on the regulation of GAD system and the control of this foodborne pathogen.

RESUMO

A Cu-catalyzed asymmetric synthesis of silicon-stereogenic benzoxasiloles has been realized via intramolecular Si-O coupling of [2-(hydroxymethyl)phenyl]silanes. Cu(I)/difluorphos is found to be an efficient catalytic system for enantioselective Si-C bond cleavage and Si-O bond formation. In addition, kinetic resolution of racemic substituted [2-(hydroxymethyl)phenyl]silanes using Cu(I)/ PyrOx (pyridine-oxazoline ligands) as the catalytic system is developed to afford carbon- and silicon-stereogenic benzoxasiloles. Ring-opening reactions of chiral benzoxasiloles with organolithiums and Grignard reagents yield various enantioenriched functionalized tetraorganosilanes.

RESUMO

The electrochemical performances of lithium metal batteries are determined by the kinetics of interfacial de-solvation and ion transport, especially at low-temperature environments. Here, a novel electrolyte that easily de-solvated and conducive to interfacial film formation is designed for low-temperature lithium metal batteries. A fluorinated carboxylic ester, diethyl fluoromalonate (DEFM), and a fluorinated carbonate, fluoroethylene carbonate (FEC) are used as solvents, while high concentrated lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (LiTFSI) is served as the solute. Through tailoring the electrolyte formulation, the lithium ions in the high concentrated fluorinated carboxylic ester electrolyte are mainly combined with anions, which weakens the bonding strength of lithium ions and solvent molecules in the solvation structure, beneficial to the de-solvation process at low temperature. The fluorinated carboxylic ester (FCE) electrolyte enables the LiFePO4 (LFP) | Li half-cell achieves a high capacity of 91.9 mAh g-1 at -30 °C, with high F content in the interface. With optimized de-solvation kinetics, the LFP | Li full cell remains over 100 mAh g-1 at 0 °C after cycling 100 cycles. Building new solvents with outstanding low-temperature properties and weaker solvation to match with Li metal anode, this work brings new possibilities of realizing high energy density and low temperature energy storage batteries.

RESUMO

In this multi-institutional retrospective cohort study, we compared the long-term risk of osteonecrosis of the jaw following the use of denosumab vs. bisphosphonates in osteoporotic patients. After 2-year use, the likelihood of osteonecrosis of the jaw is lower with denosumab compared to bisphosphonates, and the difference increases with time. PURPOSE: To compare the long-term risk of osteonecrosis of the jaw (ONJ) between osteoporotic patients treated with bisphosphonates (BPs) and denosumab. METHODS: This multi-institutional retrospective cohort study included patients aged > 40 years with osteoporosis between January 2010 and December 2018. Patients who met the eligibility criteria were divided into BPs and denosumab groups by propensity score matching (PSM). The risk of ONJ of denosumab vs. BPs was estimated using a Cox proportional hazards model and was described by the cumulative incidence rate using the Kaplan-Meier method. RESULTS: A total of 84,102 patients with osteoporosis were enrolled, among whom, 8962 were eligible for inclusion based on their first-line drug use (denosumab, n = 3,823; BPs, n = 5,139). Following PCM matching (1:1), the BPs and denosumab groups included 3665 patients each. The incidence density of ONJ in the denosumab and BPs matching groups was 1.47 vs. 2.49 events (per 1000 person-years), respectively. The hazard ratio of ONJ in the denosumab vs. BPs group was estimated as 0.581 (95% confidence interval: 0.33-1.04, p = 0.07). The cumulative incidence rates of ONJ in both groups were similar for the first and second years of drug use (p = 0.062), but significantly different from the third year onwards (p = 0.022). The severity of ONJ was not significantly different between the two groups. CONCLUSION: In osteoporotic patients, after 2 years of use, the likelihood of ONJ being induced by denosumab is lower than that of BPs, and the difference increases with time.

RESUMO

Adulteration by Bacopa monnieri (BM) in Portulaca oleracea (PO) plants frequently occurs; it decreases the efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and leads to fraud in the herbal marketplace. In this study, a diagnostic PCR assay was established for the rapid authentication of PO and BM in the herbal market. The sequence divergences in internal transcribed spacer 2 (ITS2) between PO and its adulterant species were used to design diagnostic PCR primers. The specific designed primer sets were evaluated and show that the diagnostic PCR assay can be used to verify the authenticity of PO and BM. The detection limits of the primer set for PO and BM identification were 10 pg and 1 pg, respectively. The reactivity of diagnostic PCR was 0.1% PO genomic DNA and 0.01% BM genomic DNA in the test sample during DNA amplification. In addition, multiplex PCR (mPCR) for PO and BM identification was also established. The samples were more susceptible to the effect of steaming in authentication by singleplex PCR and mPCR than boiling and drying treatment. Furthermore, commercial samples from the market were used to demonstrate the applicability of the developed diagnostic PCR for PO authentication and diagnose BM adulteration, and the investigation found that approximately 72.2% (13/18) of PO plants in the herbal market were adulterated. In conclusion, the diagnostic PCR assay was successfully developed and its specificity, sensitivity and reactivity for PO and BM authentication were proven. These developed PCR-based molecular methods can be applied as an identification tool for PO authenticity and can be practically applied for inspection of BM adulteration in the herbal market in the future.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Endovascular recanalization in patients with symptomatic nonacute intracranial large artery occlusion (ILAO) has been reported to be feasible, but technically challenging. This study aimed to determine the predictors of successful endovascular recanalization in patients with symptomatic nonacute ILAO. METHODS: The outcomes of endovascular recanalization attempts performed in 70 consecutive patients showing symptomatic nonacute ILAO with hemodynamic cerebral ischemia between January 2016 to December 2022 were reviewed. Potential variables, including clinical and radiological characteristics related to technical success, were collected. Univariate analysis and multivariate logistic regression were performed to identify predictors of successful recanalization for nonacute ILAO. RESULTS: Technically successful recanalization was achieved in 57 patients (81.4%). The periprocedural complication rate was 21.4% (15 of 70), and the overall 30-day morbidity and mortality rates were 7.1% (5 of 70) and 2.9% (2 of 70), respectively. Univariate analysis showed that successful recanalization was associated with occlusion duration, stump morphology, occlusion length, slow distal antegrade flow sign, and the presence of bridging collateral vessels. Multivariate analysis showed that occlusion duration ≤ 3 months (odds ratio [OR]: 22.529; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.636-310.141), tapered stump (OR: 7.498; 95% CI: 1.533-36.671), and occlusion length < 10 mm (OR: 7.049; 95% CI: 1.402-35.441) were independent predictive factors for technical success of recanalization. CONCLUSIONS: Occlusion duration ≤ 3 months, tapered stump, and occlusion length < 10 mm were independent positive predictors of technical success of endovascular recanalization for symptomatic nonacute ILAO. These findings may help predict the likelihood of successful recanalization in patients with symptomatic nonacute ILAO and also provide a reference for the selection of appropriate patients. Further prospective and multicenter studies are required to validate our findings.

RESUMO

Acute kidney injury (AKI) caused by anti-tumor drugs, such as cisplatin, is a severe complication with no effective treatment currently, leading to the reduction or discontinuation of chemotherapy. Natural products or herbal medicines are gradually considered as promising agents against cisplatin-induced AKI with the advantages of multi-targeting, multi-effects, and less resistance. In this study, we investigated the effects of kaempferide, a natural flavonoid extracted from the rhizome of Kaempferia galanga, in experimental AKI models in vitro and in vivo. We first conducted pharmacokinetic study in mice and found a relative stable state of kaempferide with a small amount of conversion into kaempferol. We showed that both kaempferide (10 µM) and kaempferol (10 µM) significantly inhibited cisplatin-caused injuries in immortalized proximal tubule epithelial cell line HK-2. In AKI mice induced by injection of a single dose of cisplatin (15 mg/kg), oral administration of kaempferide (50 mg/kg) either before or after cisplatin injection markedly improved renal function, and ameliorated renal tissue damage. We demonstrated that kaempferide inhibited oxidative stress and induced autophagy in cisplatin-treated mice and HK-2 cells, thus increasing tubular cell viability and decreasing immune responses to attenuate the disease progression. In addition, treatment with kaempferide significantly ameliorated ischemia-reperfusion-induced renal injury in vitro and in vivo. We conclude that kaempferide is a promising natural product for treating various AKI. This study has great implications for promotion of its use in healthcare products, and help to break through the limited use of cisplatin in the clinic.

RESUMO

Listeria monocytogenes is an important foodborne pathogen that can survive under acidic conditions. The glutamate decarboxylase (GAD) system is one of the acid resistance systems of L. monocytogenes. It usually comprises two glutamate transporters (GadT1/T2) and three glutamate decarboxylases (GadD1/D2/D3). Among them, gadT2/gadD2 contributes most significantly to the acid resistance of L. monocytogenes. However, the regulation mechanisms of gadT2/gadD2 still remain unclear. The results of this study indicated that gadT2/gadD2 deletion significantly decreases the survival rate of L. monocytogenes under different acidic conditions, including brain and heart infusion (BHI) broth, with a pH of 2.5, 2% citric acid, 2% acetic acid and 2% lactic acid. Further, gadT2/gadD2 cluster was expressed in the representative strains in response to alkaline stress rather than acid stress. To explore the regulation of gadT2/gadD2, we knocked out the five transcriptional factors belonging to the Rgg family in L. monocytogenes 10403S. We found that the deletion of gadR4, which exhibits the highest homology with the gadR of Lactococcus lactis, resulted in a significant increase in the survival rate of L. monocytogenes upon acid stress. Western blot analysis showed that gadR4 deletion significantly increased the gadD2 expression of L. monocytogenes under alkaline and neutral conditions. Furthermore, the gfp reporter gene showed that gadR4 deletion significantly increased the expression of the gadT2/gadD2 cluster. Adhesion and invasion assays indicated that gadR4 deletion significantly increased the rates of adhesion and invasion of L. monocytogenes to epithelial Caco-2 cells. Virulence assays showed that gadR4 knockout significantly improved the colonization ability of L. monocytogenes in the livers and spleens of the infected mice. Taken together, our results showed that GadR4, a transcription factor belonging to the Rgg family, negatively regulates the gadT2/gadD2 cluster, thus, reducing the acid stress tolerance and pathogenicity of L. monocytogens 10403S. Our results provide a better understanding of the regulation of the GAD system of L. monocytogenes and a novel approach to potentially prevent and control listeriosis.

RESUMO

Portulaca oleracea (PO) is a commonly known medicinal crop that is an important ingredient for traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) due to its use as a vegetable in the diet. PO has been recorded to be frequently adulterated by other related species in the market of herbal plants, distorting the PO plant identity. Thus, identification of the botanical origin of PO is a crucial step before pharmaceutical or functional food application. In this research, a quick assay named "loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP)" was built for the specific and sensitive authentication of PO DNA. On the basis of the divergences in the internal transcribed spacer 2 (ITS2) sequence between PO and its adulterant species, the LAMP primers were designed and verified their specificity, sensitivity, and application for the PO DNA authentication. The detection limit of the LAMP assay for PO DNA identification specifically was 100 fg under isothermal conditions at 63 °C for 30 min. In addition, different heat-processed PO samples can be applied for use in PO authentication in the LAMP assay. These samples of PO were more susceptible to the effect of steaming in authentication by PCR than boiling and drying treatment. Furthermore, commercial PO samples pursued from herbal markets were used to display their applicability of the developed LAMP analysis for PO postharvest authentication, and the investigation found that approximately 68.4% of PO specimens in the marketplace of herbal remedies were adulterated. In summary, the specific, sensitive, and rapid LAMP assay for PO authentication was first successfully developed herein, and its practical application for the inspection of adulteration in PO samples from the herbal market was shown. This LAMP assay created in this study will be useful to authenticate the botanical origin of PO and its commercial products.

RESUMO

2D materials have great potential for not only device scaling but also various applications. To prompt the development of 2D electronics and optoelectronics, a better understanding of the limitation of materials is essential. Material failure caused by bias can lead to variations in device behavior and even electrical breakdown. In this study, the structural evolution of monolayer MoS2 with high bias is revealed via in situ transmission electron microscopy at the atomic scale. The biasing process is recorded and studied with the aid of aberration-corrected scanning transmission electron microscopy. The effects of electron beam irradiation and biasing are also discussed through the combination of experiments and theory. It is found that the Mo nanoclusters result from disintegration of MoS2 and sulfur depletion, which are induced by Joule heating. The thermal stress can also damage the MoS2 layer and form long cracks in both in situ and ex situ biasing cases. Investigation of the results obtained with different applied voltages helps to further verify the mechanism of evolution and provide a comprehensive study of the function of biasing.

RESUMO

Recently, perovskite (PV) oxides with ABO3 structures have attracted considerable interest from scientists owing to their functionality. In this study, CaFeOx is introduced to reveal the resistive switching properties and mechanism of oxygen vacancy transition in PV and brownmillerite (BM) structures. BM-CaFeO2.5 is grown on an Nb-STO conductive substrate epitaxially. CaFeOx exhibits excellent endurance and reliability. In addition, the CaFeOx also demonstrates an electroforming-free characteristic and multilevel resistance properties. To construct the switching mechanism, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy is used to observe the topotactic phase change in CaFeOx . In addition, scanning TEM and electron energy loss spectroscopy show the structural evolution and valence state variation of CaFeOx after the switching behavior. This study not only reveals the switching mechanism of CaFeOx , but also provides a PV oxide option for the dielectric material in resistive random-access memory (RRAM) devices.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Exercise boosts the health of some brain parts, such as the hippocampus and hypothalamus. Several studies show that long-term exercise improves spatial learning and memory, enhances hypothalamic leptin sensitivity, and regulates energy balance. However, the effect of exercise on the hippocampus and hypothalamus is not fully understood. The study aimed to find epigenetic modifications or changes in gene expression of the hippocampus and hypothalamus due to exercise. METHODS: Male C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into sedentary and exercise groups. All mice in the exercise group were subjected to treadmill exercise 5 days per week for 1 h each day. After the 12-week exercise intervention, the hippocampus and hypothalamus tissue were used for RNA-sequencing or molecular biology experiments. RESULTS: In both groups, numerous differentially expressed genes of the hippocampus (up-regulated: 53, down-regulated: 49) and hypothalamus (up-regulated: 24, down-regulated: 40) were observed. In the exercise group, increased level of N6-methyladenosine (m6A) was observed in the hippocampus and hypothalamus (p < 0.05). Furthermore, the fat mass and obesity-associated gene (FTO) of the hippocampus and hypothalamus were down-regulated in the exercise group (p < 0.001). In addition, the Fto co-expression genes of the mouse brain were studied and analyzed using database to determine the potential roles of exercise-downregulated FTO in the brain. CONCLUSION: The findings demonstrate that long-term exercise might elevates the levels of m6A-tagged transcripts in the hippocampus and hypothalamus via down-regulation of FTO. Hence, exercise might be an effective intervention for epigenetic modification.

RESUMO

Improving nitrogen (N) use efficiency (NUE) to reduce the application of N fertilisers in a way that benefits the environment and reduces farmers' costs is an ongoing objective for sustainable wheat production. However, whether and how arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) affect NUE in wheat is still not well explored. Three independent but complementary experiments were conducted to decipher the contribution of roots and AMF to the N uptake and utilisation efficiency in wheat. We show a temporal complementarity pattern between roots and AMF in shaping NUE of wheat. Pre-anthesis N uptake efficiency mainly depends on root functional traits, but the efficiency to utilise the N taken up during pre-anthesis for producing grains (EN,g ) is strongly affected by AMF, which might increase the uptake of phosphorus and thereby improve photosynthetic carbon assimilation. Root association with AMF reduced the N remobilisation efficiency in varieties with high EN,g ; whilst the overall grain N concentration increased, due to a large improvement in post-anthesis N uptake supported by AMF and/or other microbes. The findings provide evidence for the importance of managing AMF in agroecosystems, and an opportunity to tackle the contradiction between maximising grain yield and protein concentration in wheat breeding.

RESUMO

Cyclic chiral lactide is the monomer chemical for polymerization of high molecular weight polylactic acid (PLA). The synthesis of cyclic l-lactide starts from poly-condensation of l-lactic acid to a low molecular weight prepolymer and then depolymerized to cyclic l-lactide. Lignocellulose biomass is the most promising carbohydrate feedstock for lactic acid production, but the synthesis of cyclic l-lactide from l-lactic acid produced from lignocellulose has so far not been successful. The major barriers are the impurities of residual sugars and inhibitors in the crude cellulosic l-lactic acid product. Here we show a successful cyclic l-lactide synthesis from cellulosic l-lactic acid by lignocellulose biorefining with complete inhibitor removal and coordinated sugars assimilation. The removal of inhibitors from lignocellulose pretreatment was accomplished by biodetoxification using a unique fungus Amorphotheca resinae ZN1. The nonglucose sugars were completely and simultaneously assimilated at the same rate with glucose by the engineered l-lactic acid bacterium Pediococcus acidilactici. The l-lactic acid production from wheat straw was comparable to that from corn starch with high optical pure (99.6%), high l-lactic acid titer (129.4 g/L), minor residual total sugars (~2.2 g/L), and inhibitors free. The cyclic l-lactide was successfully synthesized from the regularly purified l-lactic acid and verified by detailed characterizations. This study paves the technical foundation of carbon-neutral production of biodegradable PLA from lignocellulose biomass.

RESUMO

Avian leukosis, caused by avian leukosis virus (ALV), is an infectious tumor disease and severely hinders the development of the poultry industry. The use of Lactobacillus plantarum (L. plantarum) could effectively alleviate viremia in the early period of J subgroup ALV (ALV-J) infection. In this study, an invasive L. plantarum NC8 expressing Gp85 protein of ALV-J was constructed. After chickens were orally administered the recombinant invasive NC8, the levels of expression of CD4+ and CD8+ T lymphocytes in peripheral blood and spleen by flow cytometry and the proliferation ability of splenocytes by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay were examined, and the contents of cytokines, the anti-ALV-J antibody in serum, and mucosal antibody sIgA in intestinal lavage fluid were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The immunoprotective efficiency was evaluated by monitoring the infection rate, the percent of cloacal swabs and survival, body weight gain, the organ indexes, and relative virus loads after challenge with ALV-J. The results showed that the recombinant invasive strain (FnBPA-gp85) could promote the expression levels of the CD8+T cells in peripheral blood and spleen, the proliferation of splenocytes, the secretions of cytokines interleukin 2 (IL-2) and γ-interferon (IFN-γ), and the production of IgG and sIgA compared with the PBS and FnBPA control groups in chickens. The FnBPA-gp85 group was exhibited the highest immune protection against ALV-J infection. The above results indicated that the recombinant invasive NC8 could promote the cellular immunity, humoral immunity, and mucosal immunity responses in chicken and provide a new method for exploring the live vaccine against ALV-J.Key points• The FnBPA-gp85 strain could enhance cellular immunity response.• The FnBPA-gp85 strain could improve the immune protection against ALV-J infection.

RESUMO

This study assessed patient satisfaction and its associated factors among male drug-using inmates utilizing a prison detention clinic in Taiwan. A cross-sectional design and structured questionnaire were employed to recruit 580 drug-using inmates into the study. The Patient Satisfaction Questionnaire Short Form (PSQ-18), developed by the RAND Corporation, was used as the basis for the short scale of patient satisfaction, and the research data were analyzed using the SPSS for Windows 20.0 statistical software package. The results showed that the research subjects had low patient satisfaction in all the factors assessed compared with the scale's general norms. Among the original seven satisfaction subscales in this study, the highest score was for the financial aspects, and the lowest was for the amount of time spent with doctors. This study also investigated satisfaction with medical lab exams and the pharmacy at the prison's clinic, and the satisfaction scores were higher than the original seven subscales. In multiple logistic regression analyses, the final model indicated that the inmates undergoing observed rehabilitation (OR = 13.837, 95% CI = 2.736-69.983) were more likely satisfied with prison detention clinic c than those serving prison sentences. Those inmates with custodial deposits (high vs. low; OR = 1.813, 95% CI = 1.038-3.168), and meet their physical health needs (met vs. unmet; OR = 4.872, 95% CI = 2.054-11.560) had significant correlated with detention clinic care satisfactory level. Although there is only one study setting cannot give a generalizability for people who are incarcerated in Taiwan, this study highlights that the prison authorities should scrutinize factors associated with detention clinic care satisfaction, such as the type of inmate, economic status in the prison, self-reported health status, and their physical health needs, to increase the level of patient satisfaction.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: Monteggia fracture-dislocation refers to traumatic ulnar fractures and dislocation of the radial head, which is one of the most frequently missed injuries, especially in children. The most widespread attitude towards chronic Monteggia lesion is the open reduction of the radial head associated with ulnar osteotomy with or without annular ligament reconstruction. Our study aimed to analyze the risk factors for redislocation after surgical management of chronic Monteggia lesion and the benefits of annular ligament reconstruction and radiocapitellar pinning in paediatric. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed patients treated with reconstruction surgery for chronic Monteggia fracture-dislocation in our department between 2005 and 2017, with a minimum two years' follow-up. The reconstruction surgery included ulnar osteotomy performed in all patients, annular ligament repair or reconstruction or fixation of radiocapitellar joint, or radial osteotomy in some patients. We collected the related clinical data and evaluated the risk factors of redislocation using logistic regression analyses and a two-piecewise linear regression model with a smoothing function, after reconstruction. RESULTS: Throughout a mean six years' follow-up (range, 2-14 years), 62 patients (42 males, 20 females; average age 6.49 years range, 2-13 years) were reviewed. Of the radiocapitellar joints, 16.1% was noted to have redislocation. Univariate risk analysis showed age, time from injury to surgery, and radial osteotomy were risk factors for a recurrent radiocapitellar redislocation. Time from injury to surgery was found to be independent predictor of redislocation in multivariate analysis. However, there were significant nonlinear associations between time from injury to surgery and redislocation in multivariate logistic regression analysis after multivariate adjustment (p for nonlinear = 0.023). Every one month increase was associated with a 1.37-fold increase in redislocation, in participants within one year after injury. CONCLUSION: In conclusion, the surgery of chronic Monteggia fracture-dislocation should be done as quickly as possible within one year after injury. Associated annular ligament reconstruction or fixation of radiocapitellar joint does not seem to be helpful.

RESUMO

Taking into the consideration safety, environmental impact, and economic issue, the construction of aqueous batteries based on aqueous electrolyte has become an indispensable technical option for large-scale electrical energy storage. The narrow electrochemical window is the main problem of conventional aqueous electrolyte. Here, an economical room-temperature inorganic hydrated molten salt (RTMS) electrolyte with a large electrochemical stability window of 3.1 V is proposed. Compared with organic fluorinated molten salts, RTMS is composed of lithium nitrate hydrate and sodium nitrate with much lower cost. Based on the RTMS electrolyte, a hybrid Li/Na-ion full battery is fabricated from cobalt hexacyanoferrate cathode (NaCoHCF) and perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic dianhydride (PTCDA) anode. The full cell with the RTMS electrolyte exhibits a fantastic performance with high capacity of 139 mAh g-1 at 1 C, 90 mAh g-1 at 20 C, and capacity retention of 94.7% over 500 cycles at 3 C. The excellent performances are contributed to the unique properties of RTMS with a large electrochemical window, solvated H2 O free and high mobility of Li+ , which exhibits excellent Li-ions insertion and extraction capacity of NaCoHCF. This RTMS cell provides a new economic choice for large-scale energy storage.
