RESUMO

PIP: Histologic observations of patients who exhibited cervical ectropion and colposcopic changes of vascular congestion and increased mucous secretion were made. 73 cervical biopsies were obtained from patients with normal cycles, and 106 endocervical biopsies were obtained from patients being treated with combined synthetic steroids. 6 of the 73 cervical biopsies showed epidermoid metaplasia of the surface epithelium whereas 21 of the 106 endocervical biopsies showed partial metaplasia of the surface epithelium, a significant difference (p less than .05). 2 of the 106 showed adenomatoid hyperplasia. This study indicated that the changes induced by synthetic steroids when at their maximum are equaled under no other circumstances, even during pregnancy.^ieng

RESUMO

A fifty-seven-year-old woman had been suffering from chronic nodules on both legs for 17 years. The histologic findings have suggested pancreatic-disease-associated fat necrosis. Up to now, however, no pancreatic disorder has been found and several biological clues indicate that a more plausible explanation may be an immune-mediated injury of the panniculus.

RESUMO

A painless ecchymotic plaque developed progressively on the right breast of a 16 years old girl. Failure of the first biopsies to bring up specific lesions and episodes of regression delayed the diagnosis until a very deep biopsy and a CT-scan investigation revealed a diffuse and malignant vascular process. A simple mastectomy did not prevent recurrence and metastasing 3 months later. The clinical aspects of breast angiosarcoma, the shortcomings of investigative procedures and the recommended therapeutics are reviewed.

RESUMO

This study comprises 2 groups of children; allergic (18) and non-allergic (36), having undergone tonsillectomy, adenoïdectomy or both. The humoral immunity profile' bacteriology and neutrophile and eosinophile cell populations of the lymphoid tissues removed were compared. No significant difference was brought into evidence. The bacteriology of the two groups did however show a preponderance of Haemophilus influenzae. This would appear to be in contradiction to the generally accepted theories.
