RESUMO

In this work, a near-ultraviolet (NUV) emitter, 2MCz-CNMCz, with hot-exciton property is designed based on a "long-short axis" strategy, which exhibits good thermal stability, bipolar carrier transport ability, and high T1 energy level. Its nondoped NUV organic light-emitting diode (OLED) achieves a record maximum external quantum efficiency (ηext ) of 7.76%, with a peak at 404 nm and CIE coordinates of (0.158, 0.039). The corresponding high exciton utilization efficiency (ηr ) in the electroluminescence process reveals its potential as a functional sensitizing host. As expected, the TBPe-based blue fluorescent OLED with 2MCz-CNMCz as the host material shows better efficiency and lower efficiency roll-off than that with traditional host material mCP. Meanwhile, the Ir complexes-based green/yellow/red phosphorescent OLEDs with 2MCz-CNMCz host are also fabricated, reaching high ηext values of 26.1%, 30.4%, and 20.4%, respectively, and displaying negligible efficiency roll-offs at 1000 cd m-2 , which are among the best OLED performances based on the same emitters. To the authors' best knowledge, this is the first report on the design of high-quality universal and functional host material, and may bring new inspiration to the preparation of high-efficiency, low roll-off, full-color OLEDs.

RESUMO

Recently, scientists have reported a range of chiral fluorescence materials or chiral composites that can emit circularly polarized luminescence. Herein, two achiral metal-organic colloidal solutions were studied, showing active circularly polarized luminescence, which is observed in vortex stirring. The absolute values for glum are 0.05 and 0.03 and the plus or minus sign of glum depends on the colloidal structure and stirring direction, which make the property easy to manipulate. Further, the host-guest interaction study suggests both electrostatic interactions and coordination bonding may influence the chiroptical property from the colloidal solution to the guest molecule. Rhodamine 6G and its carboxylic acid derivative exhibit good quantum yields and acceptable glum values in the colloidal solution.

RESUMO

Discovering novel families of molecular polyhedra through graph theory has attracted increasing interest. Nevertheless, the design principles of molecular polyhedra based on graph theory remain elusive, especially for those containing five-node units. Herein, we construct a series of chiral truncated face-rotating polyhedra (T-FRP) from pentagonal pentaphenylpyrrole (PPP) derivatives and chiral diamines. Graph theory is used to elucidate the geometry of these novel T-FRP, which represent a new family of molecular polyhedra. The phenyl flipping of PPP faces in these T-FRP is significantly restricted, thus making T-FRP chiral and strongly emissive in solution. In addition, T-FRP also generate circularly polarized luminescence. This study provides new insights into the rational design of novel molecular polyhedra through graph theory.

RESUMO

Organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) using thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) materials to sensitizing conventional fluorescence dopants (CFDs) have attracted intensive research interest due to the extraordinary device performances. Herein, a cyan luminogen (TCz-BP-SFAC) with TADF and aggregation-enhanced emission (AEE) character is developed as a sensitizing host for CFDs. TCz-BP-SFAC owns excellent thermal and electrochemical stabilities, prefers horizontal dipole orientation and demonstrates violent delayed fluorescence with high photoluminescence quantum yields in neat and doped films. It exhibits preeminent electroluminescence (EL) performances with maximum external quantum efficiencies (ηext s) of 25.1% and 30.0% and very low efficiency roll-offs. TCz-BP-SFAC also performs well as a sensitizing host for CFDs of different colors. When TCz-BP-SFAC sensitizing green emitter TTPA and orange emitter TBRB, the devices achieve high ηext s of 16.9% and 17.1% as well as very low efficiency roll-offs of 2.4% and 1.2%, respectively. Moreover, TCz-BP-SFAC can serve as a sensitizing host for two-color all-fluorescence white OLEDs, resulting in high ηext s of ∼18% and very low efficiency roll-offs of ∼5%. The outstanding EL performances predict the great potential of TCz-BP-SFAC as emitter and host in practical display and lighting devices.

RESUMO

TP53 codon 72 polymorphism has been reported to affect regulatory networks central to glioma development. Although a number of published studies noted the association between TP53 codon 72 polymorphism and glioma risk, their conclusions were inconsistent. A meta-analysis was used to assess the possible association between TP53 codon 72 polymorphism and glioma risk. The PubMed databases were searched, relevant articles were identified and data were retrieved based on the inclusion criteria. The odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (95% CI) were determined on the pooled dataset. We retrieved eight different studies including 2,260 glioma cases and 3,506 controls. However, no association was found between the TP53 codon 72 polymorphism and glioma risk regarding the comparison between glioma cases and the controls. By further stratification based on criteria such as tumor grade, and the geographical location of the patients and the relevant controls, we found a significant association in the subgroup of patients with high-grade glioma in Europeans compared to controls in two models of TP53 codon 72 polymorphism, which include the dominant model [C/C + G/C vs. G/G: OR=1.35, 95% CI (1.14, 1.59), P=0.0005, P(h)=0.13] and the additive model [C allele vs. G allele: OR=1.16, 95% CI (1.02, 1.33), P=0.03, P(h)=0.37]. Our analysis suggests that TP53 codon 72 polymorphism is associated with an increased risk of high-grade glioma development in Europeans.
