RESUMO

Emergency rescue workers are the high risk group of traumatic stress disorder. A large number of intervention studies on traumatic stress disorder have been carried out at home and abroad, but there are few applied researches on the emergency rescue population. As an occupational hazard faced by the emergency rescue population, traumatic stress disorder has not attracted enough attention. In this paper, the psychological intervention, drug intervention, psychological training and social support were reviewed.

RESUMO

AIM: To describe the clinical characteristics and radiographic findings of horizontal root fractures (HRF) in posterior teeth without a history of dental trauma. METHODOLOGY: A total 24 patients and 31 HRF cases in 28 posterior teeth were collected from 2006 to 2015. Clinical examinations and radiographic imaging were evaluated. Value of confidence intervals of the proportions was calculated for data presentation. RESULTS: The number of males (54%) was similar to females (46%). The patients were predominantly between 50 and 70 years of age (75%). Most HRF cases were found in nonendodontically treated teeth (79%), without crown and bridge restorations (82%), and maxillary molars (54%). Many roots of maxillary molars had developed HRF, and the probability was nearly equal. Fractured teeth usually presented with periodontal and apical bone loss, and most patients (92%) were diagnosed with full mouth chronic periodontitis. Tooth wear was another common clinical feature amongst these patients. CONCLUSIONS: HRF in posterior teeth without dental trauma occurred mainly in patients aged between 50 and 70, in nonendodontically treated teeth, teeth with attrition but without crown and bridge restorations, maxillary molars and with periodontal and periapical bony destruction. Periodontal condition, occlusal wear and patients' age at diagnosis were the possible related factors. HRF in posterior teeth without dental trauma is a diagnostic challenge and even misdiagnosed. A thorough clinical examination, radiographic analysis and recognition of the clinical characteristics are helpful in the early diagnosis and treatment of HRF.

RESUMO

In this study, we investigated the effects of pingyangmycin (PYM) on the growth inhibition and apoptosis of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC). In this study, we aimed to explore the optimal concentration of PYM to induce the apoptosis of HUVEC and to determine its mechanism of action. After treatment of HUVEC with different concentrations of PYM for 24 h, cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8) was used to detect growth inhibiting effects. Annexin V-FITC/propidium iodide stain was used to detect apoptosis, and western blot was used to detect the expression of glucose-related protein 78 (GPR78) and C/EBP homologous protein (CHOP) endoplasmic reticulum stress proteins. With increasing PYM concentration, the growth inhibition of HUVEC increased (P < 0.05), the apoptotic numbers of HUVEC increased (P < 0.05), with higher PYM concentrations inducing necrosis, and the protein expression of GRP78 and CHOP increased (P < 0.05). PYM could obviously inhibit the proliferation and promote the apoptosis of HUVEC. Necrotic cells were more prevalent than apoptotic cells at high PYM concentrations. This study helped to determine the proper concentration of PYM to induce more apoptosis than necrosis, which is critical to minimize inflammation, enhance the healing of the skin, and maintain safety for the patient. PYM might induce HUVEC apoptosis through the endoplasmic reticulum stress pathway.

RESUMO

End-pumped by a continuous-wave 976 nm diode laser, efficient 1522 nm laser operation was demonstrated in an Er:Yb:GdAl(3)(BO(3))(4) crystal when a sapphire crystal was used as a heat diffuser. A continuous-wave 1522 nm laser with a maximum output power of 750 mW and slope efficiency of 36% was realized at an absorbed pump power of 4.1 W. The pulse performances of an acousto-optic Q-switched laser with various repetition frequencies were investigated in detail. In a repetition frequency range of 1-10 kHz, 1522 nm pulse lasers with a slope efficiency of about 10%, peak output power at the kilowatt level, and width of about 50 ns were first obtained in an Er:Yb:GdAl(3)(BO(3))(4) crystal pumped by a continuous-wave diode laser. The results indicate that the crystal is a promising gain medium for an actively Q-switched 1.5 µm laser.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To investigate whether the levels of blood pressure and fasting glucose differ among Chinese children of three different ethnicities (i.e., Uyghurs, Kazakhs, and Hans) and whether the differences are explained by childhood obesity. METHODS: A school-based cross-sectional study was conducted in a large three ethnic pediatric population (n = 6633), whose ages ranged from 7 to 18 years. Anthropometrics and blood pressure were measured using standard protocols. Fasting glucose was measured in a subset of children (n = 2295) who were randomly selected based on ethnicity and age. The age-sex stratified Chinese national cut-offs were used to define obesity and high blood pressure (HBP). The prevalence of HBP, impaired fasting glucose (IFG), mean levels of blood pressure, and glucose were compared among three ethnic groups. RESULTS: 2142 Uyghurs, 2078 Han, and 1997 Kazakhs were analyzed. After adjusting for age and body mass index (BMI), the mean blood pressure for Uyghurs was on average, 2-4 mm Hg lower than those for Hans and Kazakhs. Kazakhs had the lowest mean fasting glucose compared with Hans and Uyghurs (4.5 vs. 5.0 vs. 4.8 mmol/L, respectively). The differences in blood pressure and fasting glucose persisted even after adjusting for age and BMI, and the differences among ethnic groups in blood pressure levels and fasting glucose levels were observed as early as 7-9 years of age. CONCLUSIONS: The prevalence of HBP and IFG differed significantly among Uyghurs, Hans, and Kazakhs, and the ethnic differences observed in childhood were consistent with those observed in adults from the same region. While childhood obesity is a significant risk factor for hypertension and elevated glucose, the differences among ethnic groups were not explained by obesity alone.

RESUMO

The study evaluated the safety of reclaimed water using health risk assessment and biotoxicity tests. The reclaimed water was produced from reverse osmosis and used in industrial and miscellaneous purposes. The health risk assessment was conducted based on the concentrations of detectable pollutants in reclaimed water in a hypothetical scenario. The estimated carcinogenic and non-carcinogenic risks are lower than the generally accepted level. Biotoxicity evaluation included three genotoxicity tests, a chronic toxicity test using medaka fishes, and a subchronic toxicity test using mice. The reclaimed water is not genetically toxic, and does not cause significant chronic effects on these model organisms. These results confirm the safety of using reclaimed water from municipal wastewater treatment plants.

RESUMO

Selenium is essential for the normal life processes, and all animals, including fish, need this inorganic element. In order to research the pathology of selenium deficiency in common carp, Cyprinus carpio L., 360 juvenile carp were allocated to three treatments. Each treatment containing 120 fish was randomly divided into four groups, fed with purified diets containing selenium at 0, 0.15, 0.30 and 0.45 mg kg(-1). The results indicated that the morbidity and mortality rates of the test groups were negatively correlated with the level of selenium in the diets. The morbidity and mortality rates were, respectively, 46.7%, 33.3%, 13.3%, 0 and 26.7% 16.7%, 6.7%, 0. The affected fish exhibited pathological changes, such as 'thin back disease' and lordosis. Histologically, there was no abnormality observed in muscles, liver and pancreas. Ultrastructurally, there was swelling of the mitochondria of the cardiac muscle cells, the liver cells and renal tubular epithelial cells, with disintegration and lysis of the cristae of the mitochondria which vesiculated. Serum glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase and glutamic pyruvic transaminase levels were increased and the activity of the serum glutathione peroxidase and the serum superoxide dismutase was decreased; in contrast, the serum malonaldehyde concentration was increased.

RESUMO

The preparation and manufacture of the recording coating on ink jet printing (RC-IJP) was proposed. The microstructure of RC-IJP was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy. Fourier transform near infrared (FT-NIR) spectra showed the combination and overtone vibrations information of the hydrogen-containing groups in the RC-IJP structure. FT-NIR spectra combined with partial least squares (PLS) methods were proposed for the analysis of the glossiness degree, smoothness degree and weight per unit area of recording material (Gr) in RC-IJP. 45 samples were selected for the calibration sets of glossiness degree, smoothness degree and Gr respectively. A spectral pretreatment method was used to develop a robust calibration model. After optimizing the spectral pre-treatment, the determination coefficient (R(2)) of the glossiness degree, smoothness degree and Gr was 0.86, 0.94, and 0.98, respectively. Root mean square error of prediction (RMSEP) of the glossiness degree, smoothness degree and Gr was 1.65, 13.86, 0.054, respectively. The analytical results showed that NIR spectra using PLS had significant potential as a rapid and accurate method for the analysis of the glossiness degree, smoothness degree and Gr in the manufacture of RC-IJP.

RESUMO

The house fly, Musca domestica L. (Diptera: Muscidae), is involved in phoretic movement of pathogenic agents, but it has a very efficient defense mechanism against infection. It is believed that antimicrobial peptides play a significant role in the defense system of the house fly. Here, we isolated a peptide from the immunized house fly pupae, measured its molecular mass (3987.6 Da) by matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization/time of flight-mass spectrometry, and determined its amino acid sequence by using the Procise Protein Sequencing System (Applied Biosystems, Foster City, CA). The peptide was confirmed as a member of the insect defensin family. It displayed high activity against gram-positive bacteria but lower activity against gram-negative bacteria and fungi. Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction showed that the house fly defensin gene was constitutively expressed in naive pupae and strongly up-regulated after immunization. House fly defensin is an amphiphilic peptide with a structure similar to that of the CSalphabeta scaffold of insect defensin A from the flesh fly, Phormia terraenovae Robineau-Desvoidy. To our knowledge, this is the first isolated and characterized house fly antimicrobial peptide, and our work may provide useful information for developing pharmacologically active antimicrobial agents.

RESUMO

Objective: To evaluate the clinical effect of three-dimensional (3D) printing individualized titanium mesh for ridge augmentation in the esthetic zone. Methods: Forty-three patients were treated with personalized titanium mesh bone augmentation from Department of Oral Implantology, Stomatological Hospital of Chongqing Medical University from January, 2018 to June, 2020. According to the preoperative cone-beam CT (CBCT) data, the 43 patients [male: 21, female: 22, aged (30.1±5.8) years] were divided into three groups according to the Seibert classification as horizontal, vertical and horizontal-vertical classes (sample size: 14, 15, 14). Then, comprehensively the bone mass and esthetic requirements were taken into account to design and accordingly fabricate the 3D printing individualized titanium mesh. During the surgical process, autologous bone and xenogeneic bone substitutes were mixed at a 1∶1 ratio, combined with injectable platelet-rich fibrin (i-PRF) and individualized titanium mesh for ridge augmentation. All patients were recalled at 1, 3, and 6 months post-operation to observe the mesh exposure; the clinical effect of ridge augmentation was evaluated 6 months post-operation. After the implant placement and final restoration, the pink esthetic score (PES)/white esthetic score (WES) were evaluated. Results: Only one patient experienced early mesh exposure, and no obvious infection was observed. The bone gain regarding three types of bone defects was significantly higher immediately post-operation compared to pre-operation (horizontal, vertical and horizontal-vertical bone defect measured as (3.27±0.13), (17.41±0.46), (3.76±0.24), (14.37±0.89) mm pre-operation, respectively; and (5.25±0.15), (26.10±0.55), (6.35±0.29), (22.52±0.90) mm immediately post-operation, P<0.01). There was no obvious bone resorption 6 months post-operation [outcomes for horizontal, vertical and horizontal-vertical bone defect measured as (5.14±0.14), (25.67±0.52), (6.13±0.26), (22.35±0.89) mm, P>0.05]. The PES/WES scores of all patients were interpreted as "excellent". Conclusions: The 3D printing individualized titanium mesh is effective in repairing bone defects in the esthetic zone, and produces credible esthetic outcomes after implantation and final restoration.

RESUMO

Objective: To preliminarily evaluate the clinical effect of the three-dimensional (3D) printing individualized titanium mesh combined with guided bone regeneration technology for repairing alveolar bone defects. Methods: Six patients with alveolar bone defects (4 males and 2 females, aged 18-27 years, mean 23.3 years) were selected from the Department of Oral Implantology, Stomatological Hospital of Chongqing Medical University from January to June 2018. The patients' cone-beam CT (CBCT) data was imported into the digital design software, and the individualized titanium meshes were designed based on the ideal bone mass around the implant, alveolar bone morphology and soft tissue condition. Then, the ".stl" files were output and the meshes were fabricated by 3D printing technology. The individualized titanium meshes combined with the mixture of autogenous bone and bone substitute materials were used to augmentation during operation. All patients were reviewed at 1, 3 and 6 months after surgery to observe the complications and evaluate the effect of bone augmentation. After taking out the titanium mesh, the CBCT was compared with the preoperative CBCT. The increased bone height and bone width were measured and the bone incremental volume was calculated. Results: Titanium mesh exposure occurred in 2 patients with no obvious infection, and no early removal. In 6 patients, the bone width increased by 1.75-7.54 mm (mean 3.58 mm), the bone height increased by 0.91-11.80 mm (mean 3.37 mm), and bone incremental volume increased by 247-676 mm(3) (mean 503 mm(3)). All of the cases showed sufficiently grafted volume for implant placement. Conclusions: The individualized 3D printing titanium meshes combined with guided bone regeneration could repair alveolar bone defects with excellent clinical effect, but a better design needed to be explored in the future to solve or delay the exposure of titanium mesh.

RESUMO

Objective:To discuss the correlation between adenoid hypertrophy and laryngopharyngeal reflux in children, and to determine the accuracy of reflux symptom index(RSI) and reflux finding score(RFS) in predicting adenoid hypertrophy and laryngopharyngeal reflux(LPR). Method:Assessment of RSI and RFS was performed in 71 children with adenoid hypertrophy who underwent surgery. The adenoid biopsy specimens were examined by pepsin immunohistochemical staining. According to the positive results of pepsin staining to evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of RSI and RFS to predict LPR. Result:Among the 71 children with adenoid hypertrophy, RSI was greater than 13 points in 4 cases (5.63%), RFS was greater than 7 points in 26 cases (36.62%), and 1(1.41%) was positive in both scores. Pepsin expression was detected in 52 cases of adenoid hypertrophy tissues, with a total positive rate of 73.24% (52/71),most were strong positive(15/71,21.13%)and positive(23/71,32.39%). The higher the adenoid hypertrophy grade, the higher the expression level of pepsin (r=0.476, P<0.01).Define the positive rate of pepsin as the gold standard for the diagnosis of LPR, the sensitivity and specificity of RSI and RFS were 5.77%,34.62% and 94.74%,57.89% respectively. Pepsin staining intensity was positively correlated with troublesome or annoying cough(r=0.356, P=0.002)and was negatively correlated with ventricular obliteration(r=-0.212,P=0.038). Conclusion:There is a correlation between adenoid hypertrophy and LPR in children,LPR plays an important role in the development of adenoid and the role and mechanism of pepsin in adenoid hypertrophy needs further studyAs the low sensitivity of RSI and RFS, it is not suitable for the screening of adenoid hypertrophy in children with LPR. Children with adenoid hypertrophy cough for a long time and the laryngoscopy shows the ventricular obliteration, the presence of LPR should be warned.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to test the expression of maspin in invasive fungal rhinosinusitis and explore its value in diagnosing invasive fungal rhinosinusitis. METHODS: Forty-two fungal rhinosinusitis cases (12 invasive and 30 non-invasive) were selected as the experimental group, and 30 chronic rhinosinusitis cases comprised the control group. Maspin expression was assessed in nasal mucous membrane specimens by immunohistochemical staining. RESULTS: Compared with the control group, maspin expression was down-regulated in the fungal rhinosinusitis group (p < 0.05). Furthermore, the staining score for maspin was lowest in the invasive fungal rhinosinusitis group, as compared with both the non-invasive fungal rhinosinusitis group and the control group (p < 0.05). A maspin staining score of 5.70 was the critical value for diagnosis of invasive fungal rhinosinusitis, with sensitivity and specificity of 91.7 per cent and 88.3 per cent, respectively. CONCLUSION: The results of this study suggest that the maspin staining score may be a biomarker for effective and rapid diagnosis of invasive fungal rhinosinusitis.

RESUMO

Two novel red phosphors KBaEu(XO4)3 (X = Mo, W) have been synthesized by high-temperature solid-state reactions and the crystal structures were determined for the first time. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction data reveal that their space groups are C2/c. The crystalline structure is constituted of K/BaO8 distorted square antiprisms and distorted EuO8 polyhedra which form chains lying along the c-axis and two kinds of distorted XO4 tetrahedra. This high disorder of K/Ba which might lower the crystal field symmetry around Eu3+ results in the high purity of red emission around 615 nm originating from 5D0 → 7F2 transition under near-ultraviolet (NUV) excitation. With increasing temperature, the luminescence of KBaEu(XO4)3 (X = Mo, W) phosphors decreases almost linearly with subtle alteration for the CIE coordinate. As the temperature reaches 550 K, the red emission intensity decreases to 37.3% and 50.7% of that at 300 K for KBaEu(MoO4)3 and KBaEu(WO4)3, respectively. The analysis of the decay curves of the 5D0 → 7F2 emission at variable temperatures indicates the weak cross relaxation and non-radiative energy transfer between Eu3+ ions. These results demonstrate that the investigated phosphors are attractive for application in high power NUV excited white LEDs.

RESUMO

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death worldwide. Furthermore, more than 50% of lung cancer patients are found affected by distant metastases at the time of diagnosis. On the other hand, 20% of these patients are without regional spread and are good candidates for surgical operation. The remaining 30% represent an intermediate group whose tumors have metastasized up to regional lymph nodes. These remain 30% are the most appropriate candidates for radiation therapy. These patients are also called as "locally advanced lung cancer" or stage III lung cancer patients. In these patients strategy of combination therapy viz. radiation therapy in combination with chemotherapy is also tried by various groups in the recent past for this better management. However, long-term survival is still poor with a 5-year survival in 5-25% of patients. During the last decades, there has been a development in radiation strategies. The present review article focuses on different approaches to optimize radiotherapy for these patients.

RESUMO

In order to improve the homogeneity and dispersity of the sericite in methylphenyl-silicone resin, the agglomerate state of the sericites was controlled effectively. The dispersive model of the sericite in methylphenyl-silicone resin was designed also. First, the modified sericite was prepared using hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide as the intercalating agent. Then, functional sericite was incorporated into methylphenyl-silicone by terminal hydroxyl. The structure and dispersive performance of the hybrid polymers was charactered by analytical instruments. Scanning electron microscopy and Transmission electron microscope, Laser scanning confocal microscope and X-ray diffraction analysis showed that functional sericite was dispersed homogeneously in methylphenyl-silicone resin matrix. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis showed that the absorption peaks of the Si-OH band of methylphenyl-silicone resin were decreased and the Si-O-Si band was increased. This change evidently showed a significant role to enhance the reaction degree of the functional sericite in methylphenyl-silicone resin.

RESUMO

The aim of this study is to clarify whether apo A1 displays a similar role as that of HDL in preventing the development of experimental atherosclerosis. Results were obtained from 4 groups of experiments. (1) Result from 4 successive experiments of tree shrews indicated that high serum HDL level is the main factor in preventing the development of experimental atherosclerosis; (2) Results from 4 successive experiments in rabbits showed that both HDL and apo A1 were able to decrease the extent of lipid deposition and atheromatous lesion developed in the aortic intima; (3) Apo A1 also inhibited the number of monocytes/macrophages infiltrated in aortic intima at the initial stage of fatty streak formation; (4) Similar as HDL, apo A1 phospholipid liposomes promoted markedly the clearance ability of smooth muscle cells on intracellular cholesterol. Conclusively, apo A1 is effective in preventing the development of experimental atherosclerosis. Further study, however, is required to detect an ideal combination of apo A1 with other component, e.g., phospholipid.

RESUMO

In our early studies, the abnormal shape of the polyhedra of Bombyx mori nuclear polyhedrosis virus (BmNPV) induced by chemical mutagens of MMC. 9-AA and EMS occurred, and the genome of the mutated BmNPV obtained from the successive test had some change in the restriction endonuclease partners of EcoRI, BglII and BamHI. The present studies showed that the arrangement of the crystal lattice of the polyhedrin was disorderly, and the SDS-PAGE electropherogram of the polyhedrin depicted distinct change in comparison with control group. The results of sequencing analysis showed that many point mutations with characteristics of the base substitution had occurred at some sites of the BmNPV polh gene in three mutated groups, and these results funther revealed molecular mutagenesis of the mutagens effective to BmNPV. It was not confirmable that the point mutations of polh gene in the mutated BmNPV have relationship to abnormal shape of the polyhedra.

RESUMO

Preparation of the recording coating on the ink jet printing (RC-IJP) is proposed. The microstructure of RC-IJP was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscope. The surface infiltration process of RC-IJP was studied. Fourier transform near-infrared (FT-NIR) spectra showed the combination and overtone vibrations information of the hydrogen-containing groups in RC-IJP structure. NIR spectra combined with partial least-squares methods were proposed for the noncontact analysis of the surface infiltration time and weight per unit area in RC-IJP. Forty-five samples were selected for the calibration sets of the surface infiltration time and weight per unit area, respectively. Spectral pretreatment method was used to develop robust calibration models. After the spectral pretreatment was optimized, the determination coefficient (R(2)) of the surface infiltration time and weight per unit area were 0.90 and 0.97, respectively. The analytical results showed that NIR spectra had significant potential for the analysis of the surface infiltration time and weight per unit area of RC-IJP.
