RESUMO

Photorechargeable zinc ion batteries (PZIBs), which can directly harvest and store solar energy, are promising technologies for the development of a renewable energy society. However, the incompatibility requirement between narrow band gap and wide coverage has raised severe challenges for high-efficiency dual-functional photocathodes. Herein, half-metallic vanadium (III) oxide (V2O3) was first reported as a dual-functional photocathode for PZIBs. Theoretical and experimental results revealed its unique photoelectrical and zinc ion storage properties for capturing and storing solar energy. To this end, a synergistic protective etching strategy was developed to construct carbon superstructure-supported V2O3 nanospheres (V2O3@CSs). The half-metallic characteristics of V2O3, combined with the three-dimensional superstructure assembled by ultrathin carbon nanosheets, established rapid charge transfer networks and robust framework for efficient and stable solar-energy storage. Consequently, the V2O3@CSs photocathode delivered record zinc ion storage properties, including a photo-assisted discharge capacities of 463 mAh∙g-1 at 2.0 A∙g-1 and long-term cycling stability over 3000 cycles. Notably, the PZIBs assembled using V2O3@CSs photocathodes could be photorecharged without an external circuit, exhibiting a high photo conversion efficiency (0.354%) and photorecharge voltage (1.0 V). This study offered a promising direction for the direct capture and storage of solar energy.

The kinetics and durability of conversion-based anodes greatly depend on the intrinsic stress regulating ability of the electrode materials, which has been significantly neglected. Herein, a stress dissipation strategy driven by multi-interface built-in electric fields (BEFs) and architected structure, is innovatively proposed to design ultrafast and long-term sodium ion storage anodes. Binary Mo/Fe sulfide heterostructured nanorods with multi-interface BEFs and staggered cantilever configuration are fabricated to prove our concept. Multi-physics simulations and experimental results confirm that the inner stress in multiple directions can be dissipated by the multi-interface BEFs at the micro-scale, and by the staggered cantilever structure at the macro-scale, respectively. As a result, our designed heterostructured nanorods anode exhibits superb rate capability (332.8 mAh g-1 at 10.0 A g-1 ) and durable cyclic stability over 900 cycles at 5.0 A g-1 , outperforming other metal chalcogenides. This proposed stress dissipation strategy offers a new insight for developing stable structures for conversion-based anodes.

BACKGROUND: Prostate biopsy is still unavoidable in patients with a rising prostate-specific antigen even though multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is widely used. 18 F-DCFPyL positron emission tomography (PET)/MRI was proved to be promising both in sensitivity and specificity. But its guiding fusion biopsy and the advantages in the diagnosis of prostate disease is seldom reported. This study aimed to verify the feasibility and advantage of 18 F-DCFPyL PET/MRI-guided fusion targeted biopsy (TB) over whole-mount histopathology (WMH) for prostate cancer diagnosis. METHODS: A prospective study of 94 biopsy-naïve patients were conducted using 18 F-DCFPyL PET/MRI scans and scored on a scale of 1-4. Systematic biopsy was performed for all patients. Patients with suspicious lesions also underwent PET/MRI/transrectal ultrasound-guided fusion biopsy. Patients with pathologically confirmed cancer underwent surgery and WMH sections. Systematic biopsy was compared with TB for the detection of index tumors (ITs). Significant cancer was defined as Grade group (GG) 2 or higher no matter the length of the cancer core. RESULTS: 18 F-DCFPyL PET/MRI detected 30/94 (32%) patients with a score of 4, all of whom were verified to have prostate cancer. While it detected 10 patients with a score of 1 (10.6%), they were shown to have no cancer. The sensitivity and specificity of 18 F-DCFPyL PET/MRI were 94.4% and 75%, respectively, if images with a score of 3 are defined as positive. Systematic biopsy detected 18% (203/1128) samples as prostate cancer; conversely, TB detected 113 samples out of 259 scores (43.6%). A statistically significant difference was seen between the PCa detection rates by TB and SB (p < 0.001). All targeted lesions were pathologically proven to be the IT on WMH. CONCLUSIONS: In biopsy-naïve patients, the ultrasound fusion biopsy targeted by 18 F-DCFPyL PET/MRI is an identical pathway for the detection of prostate cancer.

The localization of sensor nodes is an important problem in wireless sensor networks. The DV-Hop algorithm is a typical range-free algorithm, but the localization accuracy is not high. To further improve the localization accuracy, this paper designs a DV-Hop algorithm based on multi-objective salp swarm optimization. Firstly, hop counts in the DV-Hop algorithm are subdivided, and the average hop distance is corrected based on the minimum mean-square error criterion and weighting. Secondly, the traditional single-objective optimization model is transformed into a multi-objective optimization model. Then, in the third stage of DV-Hop, the improved multi-objective salp swarm algorithm is used to estimate the node coordinates. Finally, the proposed algorithm is compared with three improved DV-Hop algorithms in two topologies. Compared with DV-Hop, The localization errors of the proposed algorithm are reduced by 50.79% and 56.79% in the two topology environments with different communication radii. The localization errors of different node numbers are decreased by 38.27% and 56.79%. The maximum reductions in localization errors are 38.44% and 56.79% for different anchor node numbers. Based on different regions, the maximum reductions in localization errors are 56.75% and 56.79%. The simulation results show that the accuracy of the proposed algorithm is better than that of DV-Hop, GWO-DV-Hop, SSA-DV-Hop, and ISSA-DV-Hop algorithms.

Exploiting dual-functional photoelectrodes to harvest and store solar energy is a challenging but efficient way for achieving renewable energy utilization. Herein, multi-heterostructures consisting of N-doped carbon coated MoS2 nanosheets supported by tubular TiO2 with photoelectric conversion and electronic transfer interfaces are designed. When a photo sodium ion battery (photo-SIB) is assembled based on the heterostructures, its capacity increases to 399.3 mAh g-1 with a high photo-conversion efficiency of 0.71 % switching from dark to visible light at 2.0 A g-1 . Remarkably, the photo-SIB can be recharged by light only, with a striking capacity of 231.4 mAh g-1 . Experimental and theoretical results suggest that the proposed multi-heterostructures can enhance charge transfer kinetics, maintain structural stability, and facilitate the separation of photo-excited carriers. This work presents a new strategy to design dual-functional photoelectrodes for efficient use of solar energy.

We report a thioacylation transfer reaction based on nickel-catalyzed C-C bond cleavage of thioesters with sp2-hybridized electrophiles. Aryl bromides, iodides, and alkenyl triflates can participate in thioester transfer reaction of aryl thioesters, affording a wide range of structurally diverse new thioesters in yields of up to 98% under mild reaction conditions. With this protocol, it is possible to construct alkenyl thioesters from the corresponding ketones through the generation of alkenyl triflates.

Metabolic resistance is one of the main causes of acaricide resistance. Many previous studies focused on the function of specific genes in insecticides/acaricides resistance. However, during the development of resistance, the overall dynamic of expression levels of detoxification enzyme genes in mites is still unclear. Tetranychus cinnabarinus, a major agricultural pest, which is notorious for developing resistance to acaricides rapidly. In this study, a field susceptible strain (YS) was continuously selected for 16, 25 and 32 generations, and developed to low resistance (7.83-fold, L), medium resistance (17.23-fold, M) and high resistance (86.05-fold, H), respectively. Transcriptome sequencing was performed in YS, L, M and H strains. Overall, compared with YS strain, the number of differential expression genes increased slightly with the development of cyflumetofen-resistance. As for detoxification genes, the median of fold change of up-regulated P450、CCE and GST genes was higher than those of all up-regulated genes in three resistance level, but only the number and the median of fold change of up-regulated P450 genes was increased slightly with the development of resistance. In addition, synergism experiments also proved that P450 and GST genes were the major contributors to the metabolic resistance of cyflumetofen of T. cinnabarinus. These results showed that the resistance of T. cinnabarinus to cyflumetofen was related to many resistant genes, among which P450 genes could play crucial roles in cyflumefen resistance.

BACKGROUND: Response and adaptation strategies of plants to the environment have always been the core issues in ecological research. So far, relatively little study exists on its functional traits responses to warming, especially in an urban environment. This information is the key to help understand plant responses and trade-off strategy to urban warming. RESULTS: We chose the common greening trees of mature age in Beijing (Fraxinus pennsylvanica, Koelreuteria paniculata, and Sophora japonica) as the research subjects, and used infrared heaters to simulate warming for three gradients of natural temperature (CK), moderate warming (T1) and severe warming (T2). Results showed that:(1) Leaf dry matter content (LDMC), chlorophyll content (CHL), leaf tissue density (LTD), and stomatal density (SD) all increased with temperature warming. Specific leaf area (SLA), stomatal size (SS), and stomatal aperture (SA) decreased with simulated warming. (2) SLA was extremely significantly negatively correlated with CHL, LDMC, LTD and SD (P < 0.01), and was extremely significantly positively correlated with SS (P < 0.01). SA was extremely negatively correlated with SD (P < 0.01), and was extremely significantly positively correlated with SS (P < 0.01). There was a significant positive correlation between LDMC and LTD (P < 0.01). This showed that urban greening trees adapted to the environment by coordinating adjustment among leaf functional traits. (3) Under the T1 treatment, the R2 and slope among the leaf traits were higher than CK, and the significance was also enhanced. The correlation between leaf traits was strengthened in this warming environment. Conversely, it will weaken the correlation between leaf traits under the T2 treatment. CONCLUSION: Our study demonstrated that there was a strong trade-off between leaf functional traits in the urban warming environment. Plants in the warming environment have adopted relatively consistent trade-offs and adaptation strategies. Moderate warming was more conducive to strengthening their trade-off potential. It is further verified that the global leaf economics spectrum also exists in urban ecosystems, which is generally tend to a quick-investment return type with the characteristics of thick leaves, strong photosynthetic capacity, low transpiration efficiency and long life in urban environments.

Amidase is an important hydrolytic enzyme in detoxification metabolism. Amidase hydrolyzes a wide variety of nonpeptide carbon­nitrogen bonds by attacking a cyano group or carbonyl carbon. However, little is known about the relationship between amidase and insecticides. In this study, the amidase activity was significantly higher in cyflumetofen-resistant strain (CyR) than in the susceptible strain (SS) of Tetranychus cinnabarinus, and diethyl-phosphoramidate (an amidase inhibitor) significantly decreased cyflumetofen resistance in T. cinnabarinus. More importantly, an amidase gene, TcAmidase01, was identified in T. cinnabarinus, and the TcAmidase01 overexpression was detected in both two cyflumetofen-resistant strains (CyR and YN-CyR), indicating that it is involved in cyflumetofen resistance in mites. A phylogenetic analysis showed that TcAmidase01 was clustered with deaminated glutathione amidases, which possess hydrolytic activity. The recombinant TcAmidase01 protein showed amidase activity toward succinamate, and the activity could be inhibited by cyflumetofen. High-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS) analysis provided evidence that recombinant TcAmidase01 could decompose cyflumetofen by hydrolysis, and the potential metabolites (2-(4-(tert-butyl) phenyl)-2-cyanoacetate and 2-(trifluoromethyl) benzoic acid) were identified. These results show that TcAmidase01 contribute to cyflumetofen-resistance in T. cinnabarinus by hydrolyzing cyflumetofen, and this is the first study to suggest that amidase has a role in insecticides resistance in arthropods.

Several chemical and biological studies have revealed R,S-goitrin as the main bioactive constituent of Isatis indigotica Fort., responsible for antiviral antiendotoxin activity; however, few pharmacokinetic studies have been conducted. To comprehend the kinetics of R,S-goitrin and promote its curative application, a rapid and sensitive UHPLC-MS/MS method was developed. The selected reaction monitoring transitions were m/z 130.0 → 70.0 for R,S-goitrin and m/z 181.1 → 124.0 for the internal standard in a positive-ion mode. The established UHPLC-MS/MS method achieved good linearity for R,S-goitrin at 10-2000 ng/mL. The intra- and interday accuracy levels were within ±9.7%, whereas the intraday and interday precision levels were <11.3%. The extraction recovery, stability and matrix effect were within acceptable limits. The validated method was successfully applied for the pharmacokinetic analysis of R,S-goitrin in rats after oral administration. Moreover, a total of six metabolites were structurally identified through UHPLC-Q/TOF-MS. The proposed metabolic pathways of R,S-goitrin in rats involve demethylation, acetylation, glutathionylation and oxygenation.

Visual-Inertial Odometry (VIO) is subjected to additional unobservable directions under the special motions of ground vehicles, resulting in larger pose estimation errors. To address this problem, a tightly-coupled Ackermann visual-inertial odometry (ACK-MSCKF) is proposed to fuse Ackermann error state measurements and the Stereo Multi-State Constraint Kalman Filter (S-MSCKF) with a tightly-coupled filter-based mechanism. In contrast with S-MSCKF, in which the inertial measurement unit (IMU) propagates the vehicle motion and then the propagation is corrected by stereo visual measurements, we successively update the propagation with Ackermann error state measurements and visual measurements after the process model and state augmentation. This way, additional constraints from the Ackermann measurements are exploited to improve the pose estimation accuracy. Both qualitative and quantitative experimental results evaluated under real-world datasets from an Ackermann steering vehicle lead to the following demonstration: ACK-MSCKF can significantly improve the pose estimation accuracy of S-MSCKF under the special motions of autonomous vehicles, and keep accurate and robust pose estimation available under different vehicle driving cycles and environmental conditions. This paper accompanies the source code for the robotics community.

Bavachinin (BVC), one of the main bioactive prenylated flavonoids derived from Psoralea corylifolia Linn, has a wide variety of pharmacological effects, such as antiangiogenic, antitumor, antiallergic, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial activities, especially as a pan-peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors agonist. A rapid and sensitive method for quantifying BVC in rat plasma was developed and validated through ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with electrospray-ionization tandem mass spectrometry. Furthermore, a complete metabolic investigation of BVC was performed through ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry. In the pharmacokinetic analysis, BVC exhibited rapid oral absorption (Tmax = 0.68 ± 0.21 h), good elimination (T1/2 = 2.27 ± 1.63 h) following oral administration and poor absolute bioavailability (5.27%). Moreover, 11 metabolites of BVC in plasma, urine, bile and feces were characterized. The main metabolic pathways of BVC involved isomeriszation, glucuronidation, sulfonation, hydroxylation, methoxylation and reduction. In conclusion, the present study provides a sensitive quantitative method with a lower limit of quantification of 1 ng/mL and an improved comprehension of the physiological disposition of BVC.

As chemical drugs, separation and quantification of the specific enantiomer from the chiral compounds in herbal medicines are becoming more important. To clarify the chemical characterization of chiral glucosinolates-the antiviral active ingredients of Radix Isatidis, an optimized efficient method of HPLC-UV-CD was developed to simultaneously separate and quantify the four main chiral glucosinolates: progoitrin, epiprogoitrin, and R,S-goitrin. The first step was to determine progoitrin, epiprogoitrin, and R,S-goitrin using HPLC-UV, and then determine the R-goitrin and S-goitrin by coupling with CD detection. Subsequently, through the linear relations between anisotropy factor (g factor) and the percent optical purity of R-goitrin, the contents of R-goitrin and S-goitrin from the R,S-goitrin mixture were calculated separately. Furthermore, the chemical composition features of the four chiral glucosinolates in 37 samples from crude drugs, decoction pieces, and granules of R. Isatidis were conducted. The total content of the four glucosinolates was obviously higher in crude drugs, and the variance character of each glucosinolate contents was different. In summary, the accurate measurement method reported here allows for better control of the internal quality of R. Isatidis and its granules and provides a powerful approach for the analysis of other chiral components in traditional Chinese medicines.

The hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) is recognized as the master regulator of hypoxia response. HIF-α subunits expression are tightly regulated. In this study, our data show that ts20 cells still expressed detectable E1 protein even at 39.5° C for 12 h, and complete depletion of E1 protein expression at 39.5° C by siRNA enhanced HIF-1α and P53 protein expression. Further inhibition of E1 at 39.5 °C by siRNA, or E1 inhibitor Ube1-41 completely blocked HIF-1α degradation. Moreover, immunoprecipitations of co-transfection of HA-ubiquitin and FLAG-HIF-1α plasmids directly confirmed the involvement of ubiquitin in the hypoxic degradation of HIF-1α. Additionally, hypoxic HIF-1 α degradation is independent of HAF, RACK1, sumoylation or nuclear/cytoplasmic localization. Taken together, our data suggest that constitutive HIF-1α protein degradation in hypoxia is absolutely ubiquitination-dependent, and unidentified E3 ligase may exist for this degradation pathway.

OBJECTIVE: To discuss the effect of the Kiwi OmniCup system on reducing adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes and provide a reference for assisted vaginal delivery methods. METHODS: Women who gave birth to singleton term neonates in a cephalic presentation and underwent assisted vaginal delivery from 2017 to 2021 were eligible for inclusion in the study; they were divided into a Kiwi OmniCup system group and a forceps group. Binary logistic regression analysis was used to observe and compare maternal and neonatal outcomes. The primary outcomes were severe maternal and neonatal morbidity. Severe maternal morbidity was defined as the occurrence of at least one of the following outcomes: third- or fourth-degree perineal lacerations, refractory postpartum hemorrhage, thrombotic events, amniotic fluid embolism, admission to the intensive care unit, and maternal death. Severe neonatal morbidity was defined as the occurrence of at least one of the following outcomes: neonatal asphyxia requiring resuscitation or intubation, neonatal head and face injuries, neonatal fracture, and admission to the neonatal intensive care unit for longer than 24 h. RESULTS: The rate of severe neonatal morbidity in the forceps group was significantly higher than that in the Kiwi OmniCup system group, the differences between the two groups were significant (27.2% vs. 42.3%, P < 0.001), and there was no significant difference in the rate of severe maternal morbidity between the two groups (30% vs. 30%, P > 0.05). Binary logistic regression analysis showed that Kiwi OmniCup system-assisted delivery reduced severe neonatal morbidity (adjusted odds ratio 0.49; 95% confidence interval 0.33-0.73) and did not increase severe maternal morbidity compared with forceps-assisted delivery. CONCLUSION: The Kiwi OmniCup system, which can reduce the incidence of severe neonatal morbidity without increasing the incidence of serious adverse maternal outcomes, is worthy of clinical promotion.

Lymphocytes play crucial roles in the human immune system; however, detailed metabolite characteristics need to be further investigated. Herein, we propose a lymphocyte classification method based on metabolite profiling at the single-cell level. The percentages of different lymphocyte types were calculated with a low margin of error, confirming that the metabolites could serve as a basis for lymphocyte classification. Furthermore, we analyzed the CD4/CD8 ratio in human peripheral blood to verify the feasibility of this method for the classification of lymphocyte subtypes. The proposed method is expected to be a potential tool for the clinical diagnosis of lymphocyte-related diseases.

Short-chain dehydrogenases/reductases (SDRs) are ubiquitously distributed across diverse organisms and play pivotal roles in the growth, as well as endogenous and exogenous metabolism of various substances, including drugs. The expression levels of SDR genes are reportedly upregulated in the fenpropathrin (FEN)-resistant (FeR) strain of Tetranychus cinnabarinus. However, the functions of these SDR genes in acaricide tolerance remain elusive. In this study, the activity of SDRs was found to be significantly higher (2.26-fold) in the FeR strain compared to the susceptible strain (SS) of T. cinnabarinus. A specific upregulated SDR gene, named SDR112C1, exhibited significant overexpression (3.13-fold) in the FeR population compared with that in the SS population. Furthermore, the expression of SDR112C1 showed a significant increase in the response to FEN induction. Additionally, knockdown of the SDR112C1 gene resulted in decreased SDR activity and reduced mite viability against FEN. Importantly, heterologous expression and in vitro incubation assays confirmed that recombinant SDR112C1 could effectively deplete FEN. Moreover, the overexpression of the SDR112C1 gene in Drosophila melanogaster significantly decreased the toxicity of FEN to transgenic fruit flies. These findings suggest that the overexpression of SDR SDR112C1 is a crucial factor contributing to FEN tolerance in T. cinnabarinus. This discovery not only enhances our understanding of SDR-mediated acaricide tolerance but also introduces a new family of detoxification enzymes to consider in practice, beyond cytochrome P450s, carboxyl/choline esterases and glutathione S-transferases.

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to investigate the association between early pregnancy with subchorionic hematoma and preterm delivery and other adverse pregnancy outcomes in singleton pregnancies. DATA SOURCES: English studies published from 2000 to July 15, 2022 were retrieved from PubMed, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library. STUDY ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: The inclusion criteria were: singleton pregnancy, subchorionic hematoma, and perinatal outcomes. Studies including multiple pregnancy, basic molecular studies, case reports (series), and conference reviews were excluded. METHODS: Data analysis was mainly conducted with Review Manager (RevMan) and Stata, and the results were represented with odds ratios and 95% confidence intervals. The methodological quality of the included studies was evaluated by the Cochrane risk assessment scale. RESULTS: In total, 370 studies were retrieved from the above databases. Our review included 16 studies and divided them into 2 subgroups: natural pregnancy (12 studies) and assisted reproductive pregnancy (4 studies). The relevant characteristics of each study were analyzed in detail. The primary outcome was preterm delivery. The secondary outcomes were miscarriage, fetal growth restriction, cesarean delivery, and preeclampsia. We found that subchorionic hematoma in the first trimester was not significantly associated with preterm delivery (odds ratio, 1.11; 95% confidence interval, 0.82-1.51) or other adverse outcomes in singleton pregnancy. Regression analysis found that the large heterogeneity of the included studies might be related to whether the included study population (early pregnancy with subchorionic hematoma) was complicated with threatened abortion (P<.05). However, no studies caused large heterogeneity according to sensitivity analysis. Finally, 15 studies related to preterm delivery did not have publication bias (Egger test: P=.26). However, subchorionic hematoma in the first trimester was associated with miscarriage in single pregnancies (natural pregnancy: odds ratio, 3.07; 95% confidence interval, 1.98-4.75; assisted reproductive pregnancy: odds ratio, 1.45; 95% confidence interval, 1.1-1.90). CONCLUSION: In singleton pregnancy, we found no association between subchorionic hematoma in the first trimester and preterm delivery. Although there was a correlation with miscarriage, the possible gestational age of miscarriage was not stated. More studies are needed to further address the herein posed research questions.

Ovarian cancer is one of the most common gynecological cancers with high mortality rate. The battle against ovarian cancer usually impaired by the evolved multidrug resistance (MDR) phenotype as well as metastasis in cancers, which urgently call for the development of multi-mode strategies to overcome the MDR and reduce metastasis. Considering the good benefits of ferroptosis and photothermal therapy (PTT) in cancer management, we herein proposed a facile way to construct nanoparticle platform (Fe-Dox/PVP) composed of ferric chloride, doxorubicin (Dox) and polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) for the multi-mode therapy of ovarian cancer using chemotherapy, ferroptosis and mild hypothermia PTT. Our results demonstrated that Fe-Dox/PVP with mild hypothermia was shown to have improved endosomal escape/drug delivery, enhanced ferroptosis induction and good tumor targeting effects. Most importantly, the integration of all three effects into one platform provided increased anti-metastasis effect and promising in vitro/in vivo anticancer performance with high biocompatibility. In this study, we offer a facile and robust way to prepare a multi-mode nanoplatform to combat ovarian cancer, which can be further extended for the management of many other cancers.
