RESUMO

As CRISPR technology is promoted to more fine-divided molecular biology applications, its inherent performance finds it increasingly difficult to cope with diverse needs in these different fields, and how to more accurately control the performance has become a key issue to develop CRISPR technology to a new stage. Herein, we propose a CRISPR/Cas12a regulation strategy based on the powerful programmability of nucleic acid nanotechnology. Unlike previous difficult and rigid regulation of core components Cas nuclease and crRNA, only a simple switch of different external RNA accessories is required to change the reaction kinetics or thermodynamics, thereby finely and almost steplessly regulating multi-performance of CRISPR/Cas12a including activity, speed, specificity, compatibility, programmability and sensitivity. In particular, the significantly improved specificity is expected to mark advance the accuracy of molecular detection and the safety of gene editing. In addition, this strategy was applied to regulate the delayed activation of Cas12a, overcoming the compatibility problem of the one-pot assay without any physical separation or external stimulation, and demonstrating great potential for fine-grained control of CRISPR. This simple but powerful CRISPR regulation strategy without any component modification has pioneering flexibility and versatility, and will unlock the potential for deeper applications of CRISPR technology in many finely divided fields.

BACKGROUND: Sperm storage capacity (SSC) determines the duration of fertility in hens and is an important reproduction trait that cannot be ignored in production. Currently, the genetic mechanism of SSC is still unclear in hens. Therefore, to explore the genetic basis of SSC, we analyzed the uterus-vagina junction (UVJ) of hens with different SSC at different times after insemination by RNA-seq and Ribo-seq. RESULTS: Our results showed that 589, 596, and 527 differentially expressed genes (DEGs), 730, 783, and 324 differentially translated genes (DTGs), and 804, 625, and 467 differential translation efficiency genes (DTEGs) were detected on the 5th, 10th, and 15th days after insemination, respectively. In transcription levels, we found that the differences of SSC at different times after insemination were mainly reflected in the transmission of information between cells, the composition of intercellular adhesion complexes, the regulation of ion channels, the regulation of cellular physiological activities, the composition of cells, and the composition of cell membranes. In translation efficiency (TE) levels, the differences of SSC were mainly related to the physiological and metabolic activities in the cell, the composition of the organelle membrane, the physiological activities of oxidation, cell components, and cell growth processes. According to pathway analysis, SSC was related to neuroactive ligand-receptor interaction, histidine metabolism, and PPAR signaling pathway at the transcriptional level and glutathione metabolism, oxidative phosphorylation, calcium signaling pathway, cell adhesion molecules, galactose metabolism, and Wnt signaling pathway at the TE level. We screened candidate genes affecting SSC at transcriptional levels (COL4A4, MUC6, MCHR2, TACR1, AVPR1A, COL1A1, HK2, RB1, VIPR2, HMGCS2) and TE levels(COL4A4, MUC6, CYCS, NDUFA13, CYTB, RRM2, CAMK4, HRH2, LCT, GCK, GALT). Among them, COL4A4 and MUC6 were the key candidate genes differing in transcription, translation, and translation efficiency. CONCLUSIONS: Our study used the combined analysis of RNA-seq and Ribo-seq for the first time to investigate the SSC and reveal the physiological processes associated with SSC. The key candidate genes affecting SSC were screened, and the theoretical basis was provided for the analysis of the molecular regulation mechanism of SSC.

Postsurgical adhesion (PA) is a common and serious postoperative complication that affects millions of patients worldwide. However, current commercial barrier materials are insufficient to inhibit diverse pathological factors during PA formation, and thus, highly bioactive materials are needed. Here, this work designs an injectable multifunctional composite hydrogel that can serve as a combination therapy for preventing PA. In brief, this work reveals that multiple pathological events, such as chronic inflammatory and fibrotic processes, contribute to adhesion formation in vivo, and such processes can not be attenuated by barrier material (e.g., hydrogel) alone treatments. To solve this limitation, this work designs a composite hydrogel made of the cationic self-assembling peptide KLD2R and TGF-ß receptor inhibitor (TGF-ßRi)-loaded mesenchymal stem cell-derived nanovesicles (MSC-NVs). The resulting composite hydrogel displays multiple functions, including physical separation of the injured tissue areas, antibacterial effects, and local delivery and sustained release of anti-inflammatory MSC-NVs and antifibrotic TGF-ßRi. As a result, this composite hydrogel effectively inhibited local inflammation, fibrosis and adhesion formation in vivo. Moreover, the hydrogel also exhibits good biocompatibility and biodegradability in vivo. Together, the results highlight that this "all-in-one" composite hydrogel strategy may provide insights into designing advanced therapies for many types of tissue injury.

PURPOSE: To study the value of ultrasound in the diagnosis of juxtaglomerular cell tumor (JGCT). METHODS: From January 2005 to July 2020, fifteen patients diagnosed as JGCT by surgical pathology in Peking Union Medical College Hospital were collected. All patients underwent preoperative ultrasound examination. The clinical, laboratory, ultrasound, computed tomography (CT), surgical, and pathological features of the patients were analyzed retrospectively. RESULTS: The 15 patients were 5 males and 10 females with a median age of 29 years (10∼72 years). 14 of them had hypertension and one had normal blood pressure. The tumors were all solitary, with a median diameter of 1.5 cm (0.9-5.9 cm). Among the fifteen patients, eleven were correctly detected by preoperative ultrasound, and four were missed. There was a significant difference in tumor size (2.64 ± 1.48 cm vs. 1.23 ± 0.21 cm) and whether the tumor protruded outward (9/11 vs. 0/4) between the ultrasound-detected group and the ultrasound-missed group (p = 0.010, p = 0.011). Of the 11 tumors detected by ultrasound, four were extremely hypoechoic, two were hypoechoic, three were isoechoic, and two were hyperechoic. Color Doppler showed no blood flow in five tumors with the size range from 0.9 to 2.0 cm, and mild blood flow in six tumors with the size range from 2.8 to 5.9 cm. CONCLUSIONS: JGCT is rare, and has characteristic clinical manifestations. Diagnosis should be suspected in case of secondary hypertension, particularly in young women, if no renal vascular cause was found. Ultrasound, combined with clinical manifestations, was helpful for the diagnosis.

To address the inaccuracy of the Constant Acceleration/Constant Velocity (CA/CV) model as the state equation in describing the relative motion state in UAV relative navigation, an adaptive UAV relative navigation method is proposed, which is based on the UAV attitude information provided by Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS). The proposed method utilizes the AHRS output attitude parameters as the benchmark for dead reckoning and derives a relative navigation state equation with attitude error as process noise. By integrating the extended Kalman filter output for relative state estimation and employing an adaptive decision rule designed using the innovation of the filter update phase, the proposed method recalculates motion states deviating from the actual motion using the Tasmanian Devil Optimization (TDO) algorithm. The simulation results show that, compared with the CA/CV model, the proposed method reduces the relative position errors by 12%, 23%, and 32% in the X, Y, and Z directions, respectively, and that it reduces the relative velocity errors by 350%, 330%, and 300%, respectively. There is a significant improvement in the relative navigation accuracy.

In the autonomous navigation of mobile robots, precise positioning is crucial. In forest environments with weak satellite signals or in sites disturbed by complex environments, satellite positioning accuracy has difficulty in meeting the requirements of autonomous navigation positioning accuracy for robots. This article proposes a vision SLAM/UWB tightly coupled localization method and designs a UWB non-line-of-sight error identification method using the displacement increment of the visual odometer. It utilizes the displacement increment of visual output and UWB ranging information as measurement values and applies the extended Kalman filtering algorithm for data fusion. This study utilized the constructed experimental platform to collect images and ultra-wideband ranging data in outdoor environments and experimentally validated the combined positioning method. The experimental results show that the algorithm outperforms individual UWB or loosely coupled combination positioning methods in terms of positioning accuracy. It effectively eliminates non-line-of-sight errors in UWB, improving the accuracy and stability of the combined positioning system.

Long-term spaceflight is known to induce disruptions in circadian rhythms, which are driven by a central pacemaker located in the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) of the hypothalamus, but the underlying molecular mechanisms remain unclear. Here, we developed a rat model that simulated microgravity and isolation environments through tail suspension and isolation (TSI). We found that the TSI environment imposed circadian disruptions to the core body temperature, heart rate, and locomotor-activity rhythms of rats, especially in the amplitude of these rhythms. In TSI model rats' SCNs, the core circadian gene NR1D1 showed higher protein but not mRNA levels along with decreased BMAL1 levels, which indicated that NR1D1 could be regulated through post-translational regulation. The autophagosome marker LC3 could directly bind to NR1D1 via the LC3-interacting region (LIR) motifs and induce the degradation of NR1D1 in a mitophagy-dependent manner. Defects in mitophagy led to the reversal of NR1D1 degradation, thereby suppressing the expression of BMAL1. Mitophagy deficiency and subsequent mitochondrial dysfunction were observed in the SCN of TSI models. Urolithin A (UA), a mitophagy activator, demonstrated an ability to enhance the amplitude of core body temperature, heart rate, and locomotor-activity rhythms by prompting mitophagy induction to degrade NR1D1. Cumulatively, our results demonstrate that mitophagy exerts circadian control by regulating NR1D1 degradation, revealing mitophagy as a potential target for long-term spaceflight as well as diseases with SCN circadian disruption.

Acute lung injury (ALI) is a respiratory failure disease associated with high mortality rates in patients. The primary pathological damage is attributed to the excessive release of pro-inflammatory mediators in pulmonary tissue. However, specific therapy for ALI has not been developed. In this study, a series of novel ferulic acid-parthenolide (FA-PTL) and ferulic acid-micheliolide (FA-MCL) hybrid derivatives were designed, synthesized, and evaluated for their anti-inflammatory activities in vitro. Compounds 2, 4, and 6 showed pronounced anti-inflammatory activity against LPS-induced expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines in vitro. Importantly, compound 6 displayed good water solubility, and treatment of mice with compound 6 (10 mg/kg) significantly prevented weight loss and ameliorated inflammatory cell infiltration and edema in lung tissue, as well as improving the alveolar structure. These results suggest that compound 6 (((1aR,7aS,8R,10aS,10bS,E)-8-((dimethylamino)methyl)-1a-methyl-9-oxo-1a,2,3,6,7,7a,8,9,10a,10b-decahydrooxireno[2',3':9,10]cyclodeca[1,2-b]furan-5-yl)methyl (E)-3-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)acrylate 2-hydroxypropane-1,2,3-tricarboxylate) might be considered as a lead compound for further evaluation as a potential anti-ALI agent.

The goal of this work was to explore the total iron burden of cerebral microbleeds (CMBs) using a semi-automatic quantitative susceptibility mapping and to establish its effect on brain atrophy through the mediating effect of white matter hyperintensities (WMH). A total of 95 community-dwelling people were enrolled. Quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) combined with a dynamic programming algorithm (DPA) was used to measure the characteristics of 1309 CMBs. WMH were evaluated according to the Fazekas scale, and brain atrophy was assessed using a 2D linear measurement method. Histogram analysis was used to explore the distribution of CMBs susceptibility, volume, and total iron burden, while a correlation analysis was used to explore the relationship between volume and susceptibility. Stepwise regression analysis was used to analyze the risk factors for CMBs and their contribution to brain atrophy. Mediation analysis was used to explore the interrelationship between CMBs and brain atrophy. We found that the frequency distribution of susceptibility of the CMBs was Gaussian in nature with a mean of 201 ppb and a standard deviation of 84 ppb; however, the volume and total iron burden of CMBs were more Rician in nature. A weak but significant correlation between the susceptibility and volume of CMBs was found (r = -0.113, P < 0.001). The periventricular WMH (PVWMH) was a risk factor for the presence of CMBs (number: ß = 0.251, P = 0.014; volume: ß = 0.237, P = 0.042; total iron burden: ß = 0.238, P = 0.020) and was a risk factor for brain atrophy (third ventricle width: ß = 0.325, P = 0.001; Evans's index: ß = 0.323, P = 0.001). PVWMH had a significant mediating effect on the correlation between CMBs and brain atrophy. In conclusion, QSM along with the DPA can measure the total iron burden of CMBs. PVWMH might be a risk factor for CMBs and may mediate the effect of CMBs on brain atrophy.

DNA strand displacement reactions are vital for constructing intricate nucleic acid circuits, owing to their programmability and predictability. However, the scarcity of effective methods for eliminating circuit leakages has hampered the construction of circuits with increased complexity. Herein, a versatile strategy is developed that relies on a spatially controlled proximity split tweezer (PST) switch to transduce the biomolecular signals into the independent oligonucleotides. Leveraging the double-stranded rigidity of the tweezer works synergistically with the hindering effect of the hairpin lock, effectively minimizing circuit leakage compared with sequence-level methods. In addition, the freely designed output strand is independent of the target binding sequence, allowing the PST switch conformation to be modulated by nucleic acids, small molecules, and proteins, exhibiting remarkable adaptability to a wide range of targets. Using this platform, established logical operations between different types of targets for multifunctional transduction are successfully established. Most importantly, the platform can be directly coupled with DNA catalytic circuits to further enhance transduction performance. The uniqueness of this platform lies in its design straightforwardness, flexibility, scalable intricacy, and system compatibility. These attributes pave a broad path toward nucleic acid-based development of sophisticated transduction networks, making them widely applied in basic science research and biomedical applications.

BACKGROUND: Health literacy is closely related to health status. Measuring public health literacy levels helps to warn of health status and manage health problems through timely interventions. The items of relevant evaluation tools are complex and numerous in China, and there is no recognized health literacy brief scale for the whole population. To translate the 12-item short-form health literacy scale (HLS-SF12) and test the validity and reliability of the Chinese version of the HLS-SF12 in the Chinese population. METHODS: The HLS-SF12 was translated into Chinese using the procedures of translation, back translation, and cultural debugging. 10,951 residents were selected by quota sampling method to test the validity and reliability of the scale, and 33 people were selected to retest after 2 weeks. The reliability was tested by using internal consistency coefficient and test-retest reliability. The validity was tested by using confirmatory factor analysis, content validity, convergent validity and discriminant validity. RESULTS: The Cronbach's Alpha coefficient for the total scale was 0.94, and the test-retest reliability was 0.89. The Cronbach's Alpha coefficients for the three subscales of health care, disease prevention, and health promotion respectively were 0.86, 0.86, 0.87, and the test-retest reliability respectively were 0.91, 0.79, 0.63. The confirmatory factor analysis identified a three factors model and showed nice goodness of fit indices for Chinese HLS-SF12 (GFI = 0.96, CFI = 0.97, IFI = 0.97, TLI = 0.96, and RMSEA = 0.07). CONCLUSION: The Chinese version of the HLS-SF12 has good reliability and validity, and can be used as a tool to evaluate the health literacy of Chinese people.

Wearable electronics demand energy storage devices with high energy density and fast charging-discharging rates. Although various porous electrodes have been constructed, the effect of pore size on the capacitive performance of 2D nanomaterials has been rarely studied. Herein, flexible MXene foams with significantly different pore structures are fabricated using varying diameter polystyrene (PS) spheres (80, 310, and 570 nm), which shows uniform pores and interconnected pores providing enough active sites and a good electrical connection for electron transfer. Noteworthy, when MXene flakes and templates (310 nm) have a similar size, the foam delivers the highest gravimetric capacitance of 474 ± 12 F g-1 at 2 mV s-1 than others. Additionally, the mass ratio between MXene and PS controls the packing density of foams influencing the inner resistance of foam electrodes. A carbon nanotube is introduced to further improve the electrical conductivity of foams to achieve a capacitance of 462 ± 8 F g-1 at 2 mV s-1 and retains 205 ± 10 F g-1 at 1000 mV s-1 , demonstrating promises in energy storage applications and providing an insightful guidance for designing 2D nanomaterials-based porous electrodes for supercapacitors.

OBJECTIVES: To explore the diagnostic performance of EFSUMB CEUS Pancreatic Applications guidelines (version 2017) before and after the addition of iso-enhancement and very fast/fast washout as supplementary diagnostic criteria for PDAC. METHODS: In this retrospective study, patients diagnosed with solid pancreatic lesions from January 2017 to December 2020 were evaluated. Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is reported to show hypo-enhancement in all phases according to the EFSUMB guidelines. First, based on this definition, all lesions were categorized as PDAC and non-PDAC. Then, iso-enhancement and very fast/fast washout were added as supplementary diagnostic criteria, and all lesions were recategorized. The diagnostic performance was assessed in terms of the accuracy (ACC), sensitivity (SEN), specificity (SPE), positive predictive value (PPV), and negative predictive value (NPV). The reference standard consisted of histologic evaluation or composite imaging and clinical follow-up findings. RESULTS: A total of 455 nodules in 450 patients (median age, 58.37 years; 250 men) were included. The diagnostic performance using the EFSUMB CEUS guidelines for PDAC had an ACC of 69.5%, SEN of 65.4%, SPE of 84%, PPV of 93.5%, NPV of 40.6%, and ROC of 0.747. After recategorization according to the supplementary diagnostic criteria, the diagnostic performance for PDAC had an ACC of 95.8%, SEN of 99.2%, SPE of 84%, PPV of 95.7%, NPV of 96.6%, and ROC of 0.916. CONCLUSION: The EFSUMB guidelines and recommendations for pancreatic lesions can effectively identify PDAC via hypo-enhancement on CEUS. However, the diagnostic performance may be further improved by the reclassification of PDAC lesions after adding iso-enhancement and very fast/fast washout mode. KEY POINTS: • In the EFSUMB guidelines, the only diagnostic criterion for PDAC is hypo-enhancement, to which iso-enhancement and very fast/fast washout mode were added in our research. • Using hypo-enhancement/iso-enhancement with very fast/fast washout patterns as the diagnostic criteria for PDAC for solid pancreatic masses on CEUS has high diagnostic accuracy. • The blood supply pattern of PDAC can provide important information, and CEUS has unique advantages in this respect due to its real-time dynamic attenuation ability.

OBJECTIVE: To identify and understand parathyroid lesions of patients with primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) more accurately under ultrasound. METHODS: This retrospective study involved 423 adult patients with PHPT with a single parathyroid nodule and positive parathyroid ultrasonography between 2018 and 2019. The clinical characteristics of the study patients and histopathologic sections were reviewed. RESULTS: According to the main grayscale echogenicity features of parathyroid nodules, 423 cases were divided into groups: iso-hyperechogenicity solid (61/423), hypoechogenicity solid (304/423), and mixed-echogenicity cyst-solid (58/423) groups. Comparison among the 3 groups showed that the iso-hyperechogenicity group included more asymptomatic patients with PHPT and fewer patients with severe symptoms like bone fractures (P < .05). The mixed-echogenicity group showed higher median serum parathyroid hormone (PTH) and serum calcium levels and larger lesion sizes (P < .05), and the iso-hyperechogenicity group showed the lowest median serum PTH level. No difference in lesion size was noted between the 2 solid groups, but the median serum PTH level in the hypoechogenicity group was higher than that in the iso-hyperechogenicity group (P < .05). According to histopathology, the hypoechogenic area of the samples may contain more functional components (chief cells), whereas the iso-hyperechogenic area has more nonfunctional components (eg, lipocytes and connective tissues). CONCLUSION: The PHPT nodules distinguished by ultrasound echogenicity features showed different histopathologic components, reflected by different clinical characteristics of the patients with PHPT.

Parathyroid carcinoma (PC) is a rare condition with propensity to relapse. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the sonographic findings of locoregional recurrences of parathyroid carcinoma, in order to facilitate diagnosis of this condition using ultrasound (US). This was a retrospective observational study including 21 patients confirmed with pathologically confirmed locoregional recurrence of parathyroid carcinoma. All patients had undergone preoperative US examination at a tertiary center. The imaging, clinical and laboratory data of each case were collected. Sonographic appearance of the largest lesion at each recurrence was evaluated by two experienced radiologists according to a pre-agreed protocol. Overall, 29 relapses occurred in 21 patients. The median age of the patients was 45 years (range 24-71 years). The median size of the largest recurrent lesion at each relapse was 1.8 cm (range 0.8-3.8 cm). Ultrasound images showed hypoechoic solid nodules in 28 relapses (96.6%), inhomogeneous echo-texture in 28 relapses (96.6%), intralesional echogenic septa-like structures in 21 relapses (72.4%), intralesional cystic change in two relapses (6.9%), infiltrative or blurred boundary in 20 relapses (69.0%), irregular shape in 22 relapses (75.9%), marked vascularization on color Doppler imaging in 19 relapses (65.5%), multiple lesions in 26 relapses (89.7%), contralateral recurrence in 3 relapses (10.3%), and subcutaneous recurrence in 10 relapses (34.5%). None of the recurrent lesions exhibited calcification. The total size of all the recurrent lesions at each relapse fairly correlated with the serum intact parathyroid hormone levels (r = 0.450; p = 0.014).

The expansion and deletion instabilities shown by some trinucleotide repeated DNA sequences are associated with more than 50 neurodegenerative diseases in humans. The increase or decrease of the trinucleotide repeat units underlying the diseases are not yet clearly explained using any mechanism, but has been found to affect the expression of specific genes, or produces cytotoxic RNA and protein, which has now become a common pathological mechanism of the diseases. The ongoing studies have shown that the changes in the copy numbers of the disease-related trinucleotide repeats may result from abnormal DNA replication, repair, recombination, and gene transcription. Human genetical studies also suggest that abnormal DNA replication, repair, recombination, or gene transcription that occurred in the disease-related trinucleotide repeat DNA sites may play a key role in the trinucleotide repeat DNA instabilities. Based on the research experiences of our research group, this paper reviews the recent research progress on the mechanisms of the disease-associated trinucleotide repeat DNA instabilities including their base mutation instabilities, the amplification and deletion instabilities of the repeat units, to better understand the molecular mechanism of the disease-associated trinucleotide repeats instabilities.

Treatment for epilepsy, particularly temporal lobe epilepsy, is challenging. Baicalein has multiple effects, including anti-inflammatory action. However, little is known about its efficacy in treatment of epilepsy. In this study, we established a pilocarpine-induced rat model and used it for assessment of baicalein efficacy in vivo. We predicted the pharmacological mechanism of baicalein by network pharmacology and RNA sequencing analyses. Pilocarpine epileptic rats treated with baicalein exhibited improved average seizure severity, seizure frequency, seizure duration, and survival time. Network pharmacology and RNA sequencing identified the differentially expressed genes between the baicalein treatment and epileptic groups. Insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor (IGF1R) was chosen as the top candidate target because of its overlapping findings in RNA sequencing and network pharmacology data. Western blotting, immunofluorescence, and polymerase chain reaction analyses showed that baicalein inhibited microglial proliferation, IGF1R, and inflammatory cytokine expression. Moreover, baicalein improved epilepsy symptoms. Inhibition of IGF1R function by blocking with AXL1717 enhanced baicalein treatment efficacy both in vivo and in vitro. In conclusion, baicalein exerted antiepileptic effects by regulation of IGF1R in a pilocarpine-induced rat model.

Microgravity has many detrimental impact on brain functions, however the underlying mechanism remain unclear. In present study, 28 days of tail-suspension (30°) was used to simulate microgravity in rats. We showed that oxidative stress in hippocampus was increased after 28 days of simulated microgravity in consideration of the decreased expression of NF-E2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) and the declined activities of total superoxide dismutase (T-SOD), CuZn-SOD, glutathione peroxidase (GSH-PX) and total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC). Using RNA-seq, we further investigated the effect of simulated microgravity on the expression of genes in hippocampus, and 849 genes were found to be differentially expressed. According to pathway analysis, the differentially expressed genes involved in cytoskeleton, metabolism, immunity, transcription regulation, etc. It is interesting to note that the differentially expressed genes were involved in hypoxia-associated pathway. In agreement with this, the expression of hypoxia induced factor-1α (HIF-1α), the master regulator of oxygen homeostasis, was significantly increased. Meanwhile, HIF-2α, a HIF-1α paralog, was elevated compared with the control group. The expression of pyruvate dehydrogenase kinase 1 (PDK1), lactate dehydrogenase A (LDHA) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), three well-defined downstream targets of HIF-1α, were up-regulated in hippocampus after 28 days of simulated microgravity exposure. Additionally, brain oxygen saturation (SO2) and blood flow analyzed by the tissue oxygen analysis system were also significantly reduced. These findings indicate that simulated microgravity might cause an alteration in oxygen homeostasis, providing novel insight into better understanding of how simulated microgravity affects the function of hippocampus and a new direction to the development of countermeasure for brain dysfunction during spaceflight (actual microgravity).

RESUMO

Understanding on the intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm of the pancreas (IPMN-P) has dramatically improved in the past three decades. A new disease named intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm of the bile duct (IPMN-B) reported in recent years shares several similar clinical features with IPMN-P. The clinical manifestations and imaging characteristics of IPMN-B have been gradually recognized. This review summarizes some of the typical cases reported since 2000 and find that clinical manifestations of IPMN-B include epigastric discomfort,biliary colic,jaundice,intermittent fever,sometimes without any symptoms; imaging triads for IPMN-B are mucobilia,dilated bile duct,and bile duct mural nodule.
