RESUMO

Were identified specific and meaningful for computer work physiological functions in children of 5-6 years: a functional motility of nervous processes, the function of the motor analyzer (accuracy of hand kinesthesia), the functional state of the eye accommodative system, mental capacity, volume and concentration, shortterm memory function. A considerable number of preschoolers (47%) set high enough level of development of organism functions necessary for successful interaction with the computer.

RESUMO

Relationship between levels of C-reactive protein (CRP) and neopterin and changes of left ventricular function was studied in 23 patients with heart failure (mean age 48.5+/-11.5 years) subjected to transplantation of autologous bone marrow cells (TABMC). Cells were administered intracoronary irrespective of coronary revascularization (in 11 patients) or during angioplasty (in 5 patients), intracoronary or intra-cardially during aorto coronary bypass surgery (in 7 patients). Reverse correlation was observed between left ventricular ejection fraction (EF) and stroke volume (SV) and blood plasma levels of CRP and neopterin. Efficacy of functional regeneration of the myocardium assessed 1 month after TABMC was related to blood plasma levels of CRP and neopterin before treatment. In all patients with normal initial levels of markers of inflammation EF and SV rose. Among patients with initially elevated levels of CRP and neopterin more positive changes of EF and SV occurred in those subjects in whom lowering of inflammation markers took place during 1 month after TABMC.

RESUMO

A comparative analysis was made of efficacy of chronic tonsillitis (CT) treatment with high frequency ultrasound (HFU), low frequency ultrasound (LFU) and laser. The study covered 172 CT patients aged 7 to 35 (65 males and 107 females) with CT history 5-32 years. Clinical examination included micropharyngoscopy, blood count, urine tests, microbiological investigation of tonsillar lacune lavage and nasal mucus, immunological tests, consultation of the therapist. Tonsillar prints were analysed for 40 patients. A compensated CT form was diagnosed in 58 patients, a decompensated one--in 114. The treatment efficacy was evaluated in the course of therapy and 1, 3, 6, 12 and 24 months after it. Immediate results were the best in patients treated with LFU on the palatine tonsils (73%). Patients exposed to LFU and laser showed good response in 35-37% in equal number of unsatisfactory outcomes. Repeated courses of all three therapies improved results in all the groups: good and satisfactory results were 69%, 51% and 43% for LFU, HFU, laser, respectively. Thus, LFU (Tonsillor device) is the most efficient up-to-date conservative therapy of CT which provides mechanical elimination of pathogens from the tonsils, a bactericidal effect, recovery of the barrier function.

RESUMO

An optimal modification of the patients flow arrangement is offered for more convenient form and methods of the population screening for malignant tumours and precancerous diseases, aided by medical and computer techniques. A scheme of the mass-screening system and principal aspects of technical provision particularly for oncological screening are presented.

RESUMO

Sixty-five coronary patients were subjected to aortocoronary bypass surgery. Three groups were distinguished: 1) controls-no filters; 2) patients in whom hemotransfusion (40 mu) and infusion filters were used during and on day 1 after surgery; and 3) in whom leukocyte filters for filtering residual perfusate from artificial circulation device were used in addition to the filters used in group 2. In the controls plasma level of leukocytic alpha-glycoprotein after artificial circulation increased 22 to 36 times, whereas in groups 2 and 3 it did not increase at all. After surgery the severity of leukocytosis, hyperthermia, and hyperenzymia assessed from the level of SGOT was reliably lower in patients in whom the filters were used. The time course of the oxygenation index (PaO2/FiO2) indicated an improvement of gas exchange due to filtration of infusion-transfusion media. The minimal values of PaO2/FiO2) and plasma content of C-reactive protein were observed in group 3. The mechanisms of systemic inflammatory reaction and organ dysfunction and some aspects of the protective effect of filters are discussed.

RESUMO

A relationship between the state of adrenergic, cholinergic, and serotoninergic systems, on the one hand, and the acid-alkaline balance of the organism, on the other hand, was revealed in sharp and chronic experiments on dogs. A surplus of each of the mediators was accompanied by respiratory alkalosis, and its deficiency--by combined respiratory and metabolic acidosis.

RESUMO

Morbidity from epidemic parotitis in the USSR in the period from 1958 to 1972 ranged within the limits of 266.6 and 521.7 cases per 100 000 inhabitants. A 3--4 years cyclic recurrence of rises and falls in morbidity was observed. The bulk of cases of disease occur in the winter-spring period. In towns, parotitis is registered 3 times more frequently, in the mean, than in rural districts. More than 95% of patients in the USSR consisted of children under 15, while in Moscow, children aged 3--5 years were the most affected group. In Moscow in the period from February 1, 1972 to January 31, 1973, the morbidity in men was 493.2 per 100 000 and in women 339.5 per 100 000 (ratio 1:1.45).
