RESUMO

In studying 62 strains of brucellae of all the known species an inductive enzyme--1-serine-hydrolyase(desaminating) was revealed in the intact cells and cell-free extracts. The activity of this enzyme depended on the species of brucellae and showed a sharp elevation in destruction of the cells with supersonic waves. Intact brucellae failed to desaminate treonine. A constitution enzyme 1-treonine-hydrolase (desaminating) was found in the cell-free extracts of Br. neotomae and brucellae isolated from murine rodents of the Northern Caucasus. Some properties of both enzymes were studied.

RESUMO

The possibility of evaluating functional immunomorphogenesis in the course of the vaccinal process after the injection of conjugated and live brucellosis vaccines, as well as conjugated plague antigen and Yersinia pestis strain EV, to guinea pigs has been shown by means of the direct and two-layer variants of the immunoperoxidase assay. The dynamics of the accumulation of globulin-producing cells in the immunocompetent organs and the time course of immunoglobulin titers in the peripheral blood after the injection of live and conjugated vaccines have been followed up. These data may be used for the morphological evaluation of approved preparations.

RESUMO

The presence of hexokinase, aldolase, glyceraldehyde-phosphate dehydrogenase, phosphoglycerate kinase, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase and 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase has been detected in Y. enterocolitica, which indicates the glycolytic and pentosophosphate pathways of glucose catabolism. Y. enterocolitica can be classified as an opportunistic anaerobic microorganism on the basis of the whole complex of its characteristics (growth in both aerobic and anaerobic conditions, the reduction of nitrates into nitrites, the presence of higly active glycolytic enzymes).

RESUMO

Whether the dot immunoassay is suitable for the detection of Brucella antibodies in human sera by using a colloidal silver-labeled Brucella specific antigen as a diagnostic tool is assessed. The antigen was the B. abortus 19BA protein polysaccharide complex isolated by Brucella acetic acid hydrolysis. The dot immunoassay is easy-to-use, cost-effective, highly sensitive, and therefore of more informative value in detecting Brucella antigens than routine serological tests (Huddleson test, Wright agglutination test, passive hemagglutination test, long-term complement fixation test, and Coombs test). It requires no use of expensive equipment and reagents.
