RESUMO
People who have suffered repeated traumatic events often present a complex clinical condition. This requires a very wide range of care and active coordination between health, social, legal and cultural workers. Nursing missions are at the heart of this coordination. They require availability and specific skills, especially with refugees. Care tools such as relaxation can also be used.

The post-traumatic stress suffered by migrants is not only due to the events in their home country, but also to the difficult and often violent journey to the host country. On arrival, they are confronted with numerous administrative and legal procedures that hinder urgent access to care. Recognition of their problems and appropriate support towards the specific care they need should be provided by social workers, who are familiar with their culture and the warning signs of psychological trauma, and should require the services of a qualified interpreter. While access to care should be guaranteed, for migrants it represents a new and difficult road to recovery.

In psychiatric care, the specific physical relationship that the nursing staff have with people in distress must be taken into account. In a workshop, this physical relationship extends to the group. In a theatre workshop, it is even more complex as the body is engaged in play, in character and sometimes in front of an audience. This article describes the experience of participants and nurses with regard to the particularity of the body within the theatre setting.
