RESUMO

Among legumes, lentil serves as an imperative source of dietary proteins and are considered an important pillar of global food and nutritional security. The crop is majorly cultivated in arid and semi-arid regions and exposed to different abiotic stresses. Drought stress is a polygenic stress that poses a major threat to the crop productivity of lentils. It negatively influenced the seed emergence, water relations traits, photosynthetic machinery, metabolites, seed development, quality, and yield in lentil. Plants develop several complex physiological and molecular protective mechanisms for tolerance against drought stress. These complicated networks are enabled to enhance the cellular potential to survive under extreme water-scarce conditions. As a result, proper drought stress-mitigating novel and modern approaches are required to improve lentil productivity. The currently existing biotechnological techniques such as transcriptomics, genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, CRISPR/Cas9 (clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats/cas9), and detection of QTLs (quantitative trait loci), proteins, and genes responsible for drought tolerance have gained appreciation among plant breeders for developing climate-resilient lentil varieties. In this review, we critically elaborate the impact of drought on lentil, mechanisms employed by plants to tolerate drought, and the contribution of omics approaches in lentils for dealing with drought, providing deep insights to enhance lentil productivity and improve resistance against abiotic stresses. We hope this updated review will directly help the lentil breeders to develop resistance against drought stress.

In past few decades, emotional intelligence (EI) has gained much popularity worldwide. Intelligence quotient alone is not enough in today's age for achieving success and hence for developing a person's ability, the fields of psychology and neurosciences have highlighted the importance of EI, which is a person's response toward feelings and emotions. In this study, relationship of various demographic variables with EI, as measured by Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire-Short Form, has been highlighted. The study has been conducted on a sample of 424 employees belonging to the Indian service sector. The results showed that demographic variables have an impact over EI. Organizations can take a cue from the study and adhere to diversity management practices to ensure financial gains and growth.

The binding capabilities of a series of novel quinazolinone molecules were established and stated in a comprehensive computational methodology as well as by in vitro analysis. The main focus of this work was to achieve more insight of the interactions with crystal structure of PDB ID: 1M17 and predict their binding mode to EGFR. Three molecules were screened for further examination, which were synthesized and characterized using spectroscopic techniques. The persuasive affinity of these molecules towards EGFR inhibition (IC50 for QT=45nM) was established and validated from specific kinase assay including the cell viability spectrophotometric assay (QT=12nM). Drug likeliness property were also considered by analysing, the ADME of these molecules by using scintigraphic techniques. The result showed antitumour activity of QT (4.17 tumour/muscle at 4h). Further photo physical properties were also analysed to see in vitro HSA binding to QT.
