RESUMO

The existing methods for the generation of arbitrary vector vortex beams often involve complex optical setups or intricate fabrication methods. In this Letter, we propose a novel, to the best of our knowledge, and simplified approach for the efficient generation of vector vortex beams using a polarization-multiplexed hologram fabricated on an azo-carbazole polymer using a simple double-exposure technique. The hologram generates a vector vortex beam when simply illuminated by a collimated beam and also allows for a seamless traversal across the entire higher-order Poincaré sphere (arbitrary vortex beam generation) just by modulating the polarization of an illuminating beam.

PURPOSE: To evaluate novel, automated biomarkers, pigment epithelial detachment composition indices (PEDCI) in eyes with neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) undergoing anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) therapy through 24 months. METHODS: Retrospective analysis of 37 eyes (34 patients) with PED associated with nAMD receiving as-needed anti-VEGF treatment was performed. Best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and optical coherence tomography images were acquired at a treatment-naïve baseline and 3-, 6-, 12-, 18-, and 24-month visits. Previously validated automated imaging biomarkers, PEDCI-S (serous), PEDCI-N (neovascular), and PEDCI-F (fibrous) within PEDs were measured. ANOVA analysis and Spearman correlation were performed. RESULTS: Mean BCVA (in logMAR) was 0.60 ± 0.47, 0.45 ± 0.41, 0.49 ± 0.49, 0.61 ± 0.54, 0.59 ± 0.56, and 0.67 ± 0.57 at baseline, 3, 6, 12, 18, and 24 months respectively. Overall, BCVA showed minimal worsening of 0.07 ± 0.54 logMAR (p = 0.07). 13.38 ± 3.77 anti-VEGF injections were given through 24 months. PEDCI-F showed an increase of 0.116, 0.122, 0.036, and 0.006 at months 3, 6, 12, and 18 respectively and a decrease of 0.004 at month 24 (p = 0.03); PEDCI-S showed a decrease of 0.064, 0.130, 0.091, 0.092, and 0.095 at months 3, 6, 12, 18, and 24 respectively (p = 0.16); PEDCI-N showed a decrease of 0.052 at month 3 and an increase of 0.008, 0.055, 0.086, and 0.099 at months 6, 12, 18, and 24 respectively (p = 0.06). BCVA was negatively correlated with PEDCI-F (r = -0.28, p < 0.01), and positively correlated with PEDCI-N (r = 0.28, p < 0.01) and PEDCI-S (r = 0.15, p = 0.03). CONCLUSION: Longitudinal analysis of PEDCI supports their utility as biomarkers that characterize treatment related effects by quantifying the relative composition of PEDs.

Nucleic acid aptamers have been used in the past for the development of diagnostic methods against a number of targets such as bacteria, pesticides, cancer cells etc. In the present study, six rounds of Cell-SELEX were performed on a ssDNA aptamer library against X-enriched sperm cells from Sahiwal breed cattle. Sequencing was used to examine the aptamer sequences that shown affinity for sperm carrying the X chromosome in order to find any possible X-sperm-specific sequences. Out of 35 identified sequences, 14 were selected based on bioinformatics analysis like G-Score and Mfold structures. Further validation of their specificity was done via fluorescence microscopy. The interaction of biotinylated-aptamer with sperm was also determined by visualizing the binding of streptavidin coated magnetic beads on the head region of the sperm under bright field microscopy. Finally, a real-time experiment was designed for the validation of X-sperm enrichment by synthesized aptamer sequences. Among the studied sequences, aptamer 29a exhibited a higher affinity for X sperm compared to Y sperm in a mixed population of sperm cells. By using aptamer sequence 29a, we obtained an enrichment of 70% for X chromosome bearing sperm cells.

BACKGROUND: Angiokeratoma is a rare cutaneous presentation with unknown etiology. CASE PRESENTATION: A case of a 10-year male, who was presented to the ENT OPD with a swelling over the posterior aspect of the tongue. The chief complaints included growth on the right side of the posterior third of the tongue which was extending up to the base of the tongue on the same side. CONCLUSION: Excisional biopsy was taken and sent for histopathology which was suggestive of inflamed angiokeratoma. Post-excision there is no recurrence till date.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurological ailment that primarily affects the elderly and necessitates an efficient treatment regimen backed up by extensive care. Despite advancement in the in vivo imaging techniques focussing on early diagnosis of reliable biomarkers using novel magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission topography (PET) scans, AD remains largely unexplained and effective preventative and treatment strategies are still lacking. Consequently, research groups are constantly attempting to improve its early detection, using both invasive and non-invasive techniques with established core markers like Aß and Tau (t-tau and p-tau) proteins. Unfortunately, African American and other black races are facing an increasing burden of closely associated risk factors, and only a few attempts have been made to find effective complementary and alternative therapies for AD cure and management. A greater epidemiology and natural product research are required to deal with the concurrent rise of dementia among quickly ageing African population, which so far have largely been ignored in addition to a disparity in the AD risk factors. We have tried to bring attention to the issue by reviewing up on this predisposition while generating a perspective on how race may affect AD risk and expression. This article also puts emphasis on finding new research leads from African phytodiversity while presenting several of the important species along with their biological agents found helpful in dementia related symptoms.

This report describes a convenient method for the Cu(I)-catalyzed Sonogashira cross-coupling reaction of aryl/heteroaryl halides and alkynyl sugars in the presence of a 1,2,3-triazole-appended glycohybrid as a biocompatible ligand. The Sonogashira cross-coupling products were exclusively formed without the Glaser-Hay homocoupling reaction in the presence of a glycosyl monotriazolyl ligand at 120 °C. However, the Glaser-Hay homocoupling products were obtained at 60-70 °C in the presence of bis-triazolyl-based macrocyclic glycohybrid ligand L8. The glycosyl triazole ligands were synthesized via the CuI/DIPEA-mediated regioselective CuAAC click reaction, and a series of glycohybrids of glucose, mannose, and galactose alkynes including glycosyl rods were developed in good yields. The developed glycohybrids have been well characterized by various spectroscopic techniques, such as nuclear magnetic resonance, high-resolution mass spectrometry, and single-crystal X-ray data of L3. The protocol works well with the heteroaryl and naphthyl halides, and the mechanistic approach leads to CuI/ligand-assisted oxidative coupling. The coupling protocol has notable features, including low catalytic loading, cost-effectiveness, biocompatible nature, and a wide substrate scope.

PURPOSE: To perform a qualitative analysis of outcomes published from randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on central serous chorioretinopathy (CSCR) from 1979 to 2022. DESIGN: Systematic review. METHODS: All RCTs (including both therapeutic and non-therapeutic interventions) on CSCR available online till July 2022 were included after an electronic search in multiple databases such as PubMed, CENTRAL, MEDLINE, EMBASE, BIOSIS, Scopus, and Cochrane database. We analyzed and compared the inclusion criteria, imaging modalities, study endpoints, duration, and the results of the study. RESULTS: The literature search yielded 498 potential publications. After excluding duplicate studies and studies that met clear exclusion criteria, 64 were screened for further evaluation, of which 7 were removed due to a lack of necessary inclusion criteria. A total of 57 eligible studies are described in this review. CONCLUSION: This review provides a comparative overview of key outcomes reported between RCTs investigating CSCR. We describe the current landscape of treatment modalities for CSCR and note the discrepancies between results in these published studies. Challenges arise when attempting to compare similar study designs without comparable outcome measures (i.e., clinical vs. structural) which may limit the overall evidence presented. To mitigate this issue, we present the collected data from each study in tables detailing the measures that are and are not assessed in each publication.

RESUMO

The formation of inclusion bodies (IBs) during expression of recombinant therapeutic proteins using E. coli is a significant hurdle in producing high-quality, safe, and efficacious medicines. The improved understanding of the structure-function relationship of the IBs has resulted in the development of novel biotechnologies that have streamlined the isolation, solubilization, refolding, and purification of the active functional proteins from the bacterial IBs. Together, this overall effort promises to radically improve the scope of experimental biology of therapeutic protein production and expand new prospects in IBs usage. Notably, the IBs are increasingly used for applications in more pristine areas such as drug delivery and material sciences. In this review, we intend to provide a comprehensive picture of the bio-processing of bacterial IBs, including assessing critical gaps that still need to be addressed and potential solutions to overcome them. We expect this review to be a useful resource for those working in the area of protein refolding and therapeutic protein production.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease (MOGAD) is increasingly recognized in children. Some children have isolated disease while others relapse. The study evaluates clinical, demographic and imaging features children with positive anti-MOG antibodies comparing to previously reported findings and correlate patterns on MR imaging with a relapsing course in MOGAD. MATERIAL AND METHODS: All pediatrics patients with serum anti-MOG antibodies were reviewed. Demographic, clinical, and imaging data were evaluated. Patients with a relapsing course were compared to those with a single event. We assessed initial MR images of the brain, orbits and spine obtained at the onset of clinical symptoms, whether performed at our institution or elsewhere. RESULTS: Thirty patients were included, fourteen with a single event and sixteen with more than one clinical event. The mean age was 8.1 years, with a mean follow-up of 58 months (range of 0.67 to 238 months). The relapsing patients had a mean of 3.5 relapses (range 2-12). 55% of patients had long segment optic nerve lesions, 53% of patients had cortical or peripheral white matter lesions, and 46% of patients had thalamic lesions. 43% of patients had spinal cord lesions, with 39% involving the central cord and 26% with long segment involvement. The imaging features between the groups were not statistically significant. CONCLUSION: There were no distinguishing features in relapsing versus non-relapsing patients. In the absence of any predictive characteristics for future relapse, patients should have regular clinical and imaging follow up.

BACKGROUND: Frailty is increasingly being recognized as a public health issue, straining healthcare resources and increasing costs to care for these patients. Frailty is the decline in physical and cognitive reserves leading to increased vulnerability to stressors such as surgery or disease states. The goal of this pilot diagnostic accuracy study was to identify whether point-of-care ultrasound measurements of the quadriceps and rectus femoris muscles can be used to discriminate between frail and not-frail patients and predict postoperative outcomes. This study hypothesized that ultrasound could discriminate between frail and not-frail patients before surgery. METHODS: Preoperative ultrasound measurements of the quadriceps and rectus femoris were obtained in patients with previous computed tomography scans. Using the computed tomography scans, psoas muscle area was measured in all patients for comparative purposes. Frailty was identified using the Fried phenotype assessment. Postoperative outcomes included unplanned intensive care unit admission, delirium, intensive care unit length of stay, hospital length of stay, unplanned skilled nursing facility admission, rehospitalization, falls within 30 days, and all-cause 30-day and 1-yr mortality. RESULTS: A total of 32 patients and 20 healthy volunteers were included. Frailty was identified in 18 of the 32 patients. Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis showed that quadriceps depth and psoas muscle area are able to identify frailty (area under the curve-receiver operating characteristic, 0.80 [95% CI, 0.64 to 0.97] and 0.88 [95% CI, 0.76 to 1.00], respectively), whereas the cross-sectional area of the rectus femoris is less promising (area under the curve-receiver operating characteristic, 0.70 [95% CI, 0.49 to 0.91]). Quadriceps depth was also associated with unplanned postoperative skilled nursing facility discharge disposition (area under the curve 0.81 [95% CI, 0.61 to 1.00]) and delirium (area under the curve 0.89 [95% CI, 0.77 to 1.00]). CONCLUSIONS: Similar to computed tomography measurements of psoas muscle area, preoperative ultrasound measurements of quadriceps depth shows promise in discriminating between frail and not-frail patients before surgery. It was also associated with skilled nursing facility admission and postoperative delirium.

The glycosyl 1,2,3-triazoles are expediently accessible from readily available sugar-derived glycosyl azide by utilizing modular CuAAC "Click Chemistry", and the resulting glycohybrid skeleton possesses efficient metal-coordinating centers that support a wide range of metal-mediated efficient catalysis in various imperative organic transformations. Here, we designed and developed pyridyl glycosyl triazoles by employing the CuAAC reaction of d-glucose-derived glycosyl azides and alkynyl pyridines. These pyridyl glycosyl triazoles with Cu(I) salt were explored as an efficient catalyst to successfully assemble 2-amino-3-substituted and 3-substituted quinazolinones by the domino/tandem cross-coupling reaction of various N-substituted o-halobenzamides with cyanamide and formamide, respectively. The devised protocol has some notable features, including biocompatibility, low cost, easily accessible starting materials for the glycosyl ligands, high yield, broad spectrum, low catalytic loading, and mild reaction conditions.

BACKGROUND: Lysine variants of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) result from incomplete clipping of the C-terminal lysine residues of the heavy chain. Although the structure of the lysine variants has been determined for several mAb products, a detailed study that investigates the impact of lysine charge variants on PK/PD and preclinical safety is yet to be published. OBJECTIVE: An in-depth investigation of the impact of C- terminal lysine clipping of mAbs on safety and efficacy for bevacizumab charge variants. METHOD: Charge variant isolation using semi-preparative chromatography is followed by a comparative analysis of FcRn binding, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics in relevant animal models. RESULTS: K1 variant exhibited improved FcRn binding affinity (4-fold), half-life (1.3-fold), and anti-tumor activity (1.3-fold) as compared to the K0 (main) product. However, the K2 variant, even though exhibited higher FcRn affinity (2-fold), displayed lower half-life (1.6-fold) and anti-tumor activity at medium and low doses. Differential proteomic analysis revealed that seven pathways (such as glycolysis, gluconeogenesis, carbon metabolism, synthesis of amino acids) were significantly enriched. Higher efficacy of the K1 variant is likely due to higher bioavailability of the drug, leading to complete downregulation of the pathways that facilitate catering of the energy requirements of the proliferating tumor cells. On the contrary, the K2 variant exhibits a shorter half-life, resulting only in partial reduction in the metabolic/energy requirements of the growing tumor cells. CONCLUSION: Overall, we conclude that the mAb half-life, dosage, and efficacy of a biotherapeutic product are significantly impacted by the charge variant profile of a biotherapeutic product.

PURPOSE: To study the natural history of optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging-based findings seen in non-exudative age-related macular degeneration (neAMD) and model their relative likelihood in predicting development of incomplete retinal pigment epithelium and outer retinal atrophy (iRORA), complete retinal pigment epithelium and outer retinal atrophy (cRORA), and neovascular AMD (nAMD). METHODS: Retrospective chart review was performed at two academic practices. Patients diagnosed with neAMD for whom yearly OCT scans were obtained for at least 4 consecutive years were included. Baseline demographic, visual acuity, AREDS staging, and OCT data were collected. OCTs were assessed for the presence or absence of eleven features previously individually associated with progression of neAMD, both at baseline, and on all subsequent follow-up scans. Likewise, charts were reviewed to assess visual acuity and staging of NEAMD at all follow-up visits. A multivariate regression analysis was constructed to determine predictors of iRORA, cRORA, and nAMD. RESULTS: A total of 107 eyes of 88 patients were evaluated. Follow-up included yearly OCTs obtained over at least 4 consecutive years follow-up (range: 50-94 months). During the follow-up period, 17 eyes progressed to iRORA while 25 progressed to cRORA and 16 underwent conversion to nAMD. Predictors of conversion to iRORA and cRORA included integrity of the external limiting membrane (p = 0.02), the ellipsoid zone (p = 0.01), and the cone outer segment line (p = 0.003) and the presence of intraretinal hyporeflective spaces (p = 0.009), drusen ooze (p = 0.05), and drusen collapse (p = 0.001). OCT features predictive of conversion to nAMD included outer nuclear layer (ONL) loss (p = 0.01), presence of intraretinal (p = 0.001) and subretinal (p = 0.005) hyporeflective spaces, and drusen collapse (p = 0.003). CONCLUSION: Of these multiple factors predictive of progression of neAMD, the OCT feature most strongly correlated to progression to iRORA/cRORA was drusen collapse, and the feature most predictive of conversion to nAMD was the presence of intraretinal hyporeflective spaces.

PURPOSE: To assess the influence of fellow eye information on diagnosis and classification of central serous chorioretinopathy (CSCR) using multimodal imaging-based classification. METHODS: This was a retrospective, observational study including patients with CSCR with unilateral or bilateral involvement. Multimodal images of both eyes of each patient were compiled and presented to two masked retina specialists subdivided into three groups: (1) both eye data, (2) right eye data and (3) left eye data. The masked observers graded the CSCR as per the new CSCR classification into simple and complex CSCR in three different scenarios as subdivided above. Interobserver and intraobserver agreement was assessed using Cohen's kappa (95% confidence intervals). RESULTS: A total of 206 eyes of 103 patients with unilateral or bilateral CSCR were graded. We found a "strong" intraobserver and interobserver agreement when one eye versus both eye data was provided in terms of "simple CSCR" or "complex CSCR" (kappa value = 0.77 and 0.87, p < 0.001, and kappa value = 0.85 and 0.76, p < 0.001, respectively). Forty-three eyes (10.55%) showed discrepancy in classification between observers for individual eyes, whereas only 13 eyes (6.53%) showed discrepancy between observers when both eye data was provided. CONCLUSION: We conclude that fellow eye information was helpful in solving diagnostic dilemmas and reached 85% consensus in the diagnosis of CSCR between the observers. We found that information of fellow eyes led to a discrepancy only in 6.53% cases with 2.42% cases that had a controversial diagnosis of CSCR. Multimodal imaging-based CSCR classification provides objective approach to diagnose and classify CSCR.

PURPOSE: Ultrasound is the primary method for prenatal identification of myelomeningocele and is critical to prognostication and treatment planning. No study has considered the degree of inaccuracy of prenatal US lesion level estimates and anatomic lesion level on postnatal imaging using the weighted kappa coefficient (κw), nor the impact of maternal BMI on agreement. We examined the accuracy of prenatal ultrasound lesion level estimation in a cohort of patients with myelomeningocele using κw and determined whether BMI influenced accuracy. METHODS: The study is a retrospective review including patients born 2011-2019 who had prenatal imaging and primary myelomeningocele closure at a single institution. Lesion levels from prenatal ultrasound and postnatal imaging studies were analyzed for agreement at exact level, within 1 level, and within 2 levels using κw. Maternal BMI was examined for correlation with accuracy. RESULTS: Fifty-seven patients met inclusion criteria. Mean BMI was 31.2. There was no association between maternal BMI and agreement at any level. Lesion level on prenatal ultrasound agreed with postnatal imaging to the exact level in 13 (22.8%) cases, within 1 level in 38 (66.7%) cases, and within 2 levels in 50 (87.7%) cases. Weighted kappa showed moderate agreement at exact level (κw = 0.494) and substantial agreement within 1 (κw = 0.761) and 2 levels (κw = 0.902). CONCLUSION: Weighted kappa adds confidence for clinical decision making by accounting for accuracy. Prenatal ultrasound is a reliable and accurate method of determining lesion level with near-perfect agreement to postnatal imaging within 2 spinal levels. Maternal BMI may not influence lesion level determination after initial diagnosis.

Background The Covid-19 pandemic continues to affect the delivery of cancer care across the world. We evaluated the impact of the pandemic on the delivery of cancer care, to patients diagnosed with upper gastrointestinal (UGI) tract malignancies, during the first 4 months of the pandemic in India. Methods We retrospectively analysed a database of patients with UGI malignancies discussed in the Multidisciplinary Tumour Board (MDTB) between 24 March and 24 July 2020. The results in the study group were compared to that of a similar group of patients from the corresponding period in 2019. Results A total of 117 and 61 patients were discussed in the MDTB in 2019 and 2020, respectively, thereby showing a 48% reduction in the number of new cases seen in 2020. The reduction in the number of new cases was huge for oesophageal cancer (53-13; 75.5% reduction), compared to gastric cancer (53-43; 18.9%). The proportion of patients with metastatic disease at presentation was significantly higher in 2020, compared to 2019 (39.3% v. 23.1%; p=0.023). In 8 (13.1%) patients, the pre-existing treatment protocol had to be modified to suit the prevailing pandemic situation. Two patients with gastric cancer acquired asymptomatic Covid-19 infection during the treatment, which delayed the delivery of further therapy. Oncosurgeries were less in 2020 compared to 2019 (25 v. 63). The rate of 30-day major postoperative complications in 2020 was comparable with that in 2019 (12% v. 6.3%; p=0.4). Conclusions The number of new patients with UGI cancer, seeking elective cancer care and the number of oncosurgical procedures reduced during the Covid-19 pandemic. Continuous delivery of UGI cancer services was ensured during the pandemic through clinical prioritization, the adaptation of specific care pathways and selective modification of protocols, to suit the prevailing local conditions.

Recent years evidenced an increase in the total number of skin cancer cases, and it is projected to grow exponentially. This paper proposes a computer-aided diagnosis system for the classification of a malignant lesion, where the acquired image is primarily pre-processed using novel methods. Digital artifacts such as hair follicles and blood vessels are removed, and thereafter, the image is enhanced using a novel method of histogram equalization. Henceforth, the pre-processed image undergoes the segmentation phase, where the suspected lesion is segmented using the Neutrosophic technique. The segmentation method employs a thresholding-based method along with a pentagonal neutrosophic structure to form a segmentation mask of the suspected skin lesion. The paper proposes a deep neural network base on Inception and residual blocks with softmax block after each residual block which makes the layer wider and easier to learn the key features more quickly. The proposed classifier was trained, tested, and validated over PH2, ISIC 2017, ISIC 2018, and ISIC 2019 datasets. The proposed segmentation model yields an accuracy mark of 99.50%, 99.33%, 98.56% and 98.04% for these datasets, respectively. These datasets are augmented to form a total of 103,554 images for training, which make the classifier produce enhanced classification results. Our experimental results confirm that the proposed classifier yields an accuracy score of 99.50%, 99.33%, 98.56%, and 98.04% for PH2, ISIC 2017, 2018, and 2019, respectively, which is better than most of the pre-existing classifiers.

The current research focuses on the use of different simulation techniques in the future prediction of the crucial aerosol optical properties over the highly polluted Indo-Gangetic Basin in the northern part of India. The time series model was used to make an accurate forecast of aerosol optical depth (AOD) and angstrom exponent (AE), and the statistical variability of both cases was compared in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the model (training and validation). For this, different models were used to simulate the monthly average AOD and AE over Jaipur, Kanpur and Ballia during the period from 2003 to 2018. Further, the study was aimed to construct a comparative model that will be used for time series statistical analysis of MODIS-derived AOD550 and AE412-470. This will provide a more comprehensive information about the levels of AOD and AE that will exist in the future. To test the validity and applicability of the developed models, root-mean-square error (RMSE), mean absolute error (MAE), mean absolute percent error (MAPE), fractional bias (FB), and Pearson coefficient (r) were used to show adequate accuracy in model performance. From the observation, the monthly mean values of AOD and AE were found to be nearly similar at Kanpur and Ballia (0.62 and 1.26) and different at Jaipur (0.25 and 1.14). Jaipur indicates that during the pre-monsoon season, the AOD mean value was found to be highest (0.32 ± 0.15), while Kanpur and Ballia display higher AOD mean values during the winter season (0.72 ± 0.26 and 0.83 ± 0.32, respectively). Among the different methods, the autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) model was found to be the best-suited model for AOD prediction at Ballia based on fitted error (RMSE (0.22), MAE (0.15), MAPE (24.55), FB (0.05)) and Pearson coefficient r (0.83). However, for AE, best prediction was found at Kanpur based on RMSE (0.24), MAE (0.21), MAPE (22.54), FB (-0.09) and Pearson coefficient r (0.82).

Over the last one-decade, endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided drainage has evolved as a preferred modality for treating pseudocyst over conventional surgical or radiological procedures among adults using plastic stents or lumen opposing stents; however, studies on EUS-guided pancreatic of pseudocyst among children are mainly in the form of case reports or small case series. Therefore, we aimed to describe four pediatric cases of the pseudo-pancreatic cyst treated successfully with EUS-guided cysto-gastrostomy using plastic stents. In all four cases, EUS-guided drainage was successful using plastic stent with no major complications, and none of them required any follow-up endoscopic or surgical intervention. EUS-guided cysto-gastrostomy offers an excellent and safe alternative to surgery for treating pancreatic pseudocysts in children.

Glycosyl triazoles have been introduced as efficient ligands for the Cu-catalyzed Sonogashira reaction to overcome the challenges of sideways homocoupling reactions in Cu catalysis in this reaction. The atmospheric oxygen in a sealed tube did not affect the coupling, and no need of complete exclusion of oxygen was experienced in the presence of glycohybrid triazole ligand L3. High product yields were obtained at 130 °C for a variety of substrates including aliphatic and aromatic terminal alkynes and differently substituted aromatic halides including 9-bromo noscapine. In contrast, at room temperature, a very low loading of the L3-Cu catalytic system could produce excellent yields in Glaser coupling including homocoupling and heterocoupling of a variety of aliphatic and aromatic alkynes.
