RESUMO
Chemoimmunotherapy has evolved as a standard treatment for advanced non-small cell lung cancer (aNSCLC). However, inevitable drug resistance has limited its efficacy, highlighting the urgent need for biomarkers of chemoimmunotherapy. A three-phase strategy to discover, verify, and validate longitudinal predictive autoantibodies (AAbs) for aNSCLC before and after chemoimmunotherapy was employed. A total of 528 plasma samples from 267 aNSCLC patients before and after anti-PD1 immunotherapy were collected, plus 30 independent formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded samples. Candidate AAbs were firstly selected using a HuProt high-density microarray containing 21,000 proteins in the discovery phase, followed by validation using an aNSCLC-focused microarray. Longitudinal predictive AAbs were chosen for ELISA based on responders versus non-responders comparison and progression-free survival (PFS) survival analysis. Prognostic markers were also validated using immunohistochemistry and publicly available immunotherapy datasets. We identified and validated a panel of two AAbs (MAX and DHX29) as pre-treatment biomarkers and another panel of two AAbs (MAX and TAPBP) as on-treatment predictive markers in aNSCLC patients undergoing chemoimmunotherapy. All three AAbs exhibited a positive correlation with early responses and PFS (p < 0.05). The kinetics of MAX AAb showed an increasing trend in responders (p < 0.05) and a tendency to initially increase and then decrease in non-responders (p < 0.05). Importantly, MAX protein and mRNA levels effectively discriminated PFS (p < 0.05) in aNSCLC patients treated with immunotherapy. Our results present a longitudinal analysis of changes in prognostic AAbs in aNSCLC patients undergoing chemoimmunotherapy.

Lumpy skin disease (LSD) is a severe animal infectious disease caused by lumpy skin disease virus (LSDV), inducing extensive nodules on the cattle mucosa or the scarfskin. LSDV genome encodes multiple proteins to evade host innate immune response. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms are poorly understood. In this study, we found that LSDV could suppress the expression of IFN-ß and interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs) in MDBK cells during the early stage of infection. Subsequently, an unbiased screen was performed to screen the LSDV genes with inhibitory effects on the type I interferon (IFN-I) production. ORF127 protein was identified as one of the strongest inhibitory effectors on the expression of IFN-ß and ISGs, meanwhile, the 1-43 aa of N-terminal of ORF127 played a vital role in suppressing the expression of IFN-ß. Overexpression of ORF127 could significantly promote LSDV replication through inhibiting the production of IFN-ß and ISGs in MDBK cells. Mechanism study showed that ORF127 specifically interacted with TBK1 and decreased the K63-linked polyubiquitination of TBK1 which suppressed the phosphorylation of TBK1 and ultimately decreased the production of IFN-ß. In addition, truncation mutation analysis indicated that the 1-43 aa of N-terminal of ORF127 protein was the key structural domain for its interaction with TBK1. In short, these results validated that ORF127 played a negative role in regulating IFN-ß expression through cGAS-STING signaling pathway. Taken together, this study clarified the molecular mechanism of ORF127 gene antagonizing IFN-I-mediated antiviral, which will helpfully provide new strategies for the treatment and prevention of LSD.

Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is a heterogeneous disease, although disease stratification using in-depth plasma proteomics has not been performed to date. By measuring more than 1000 proteins in the plasma of 147 DLBCL patients using data-independent acquisition mass spectrometry and antibody array, DLBCL patients were classified into four proteomic subtypes (PS-I-IV). Patients with the PS-IV subtype and worst prognosis had increased levels of proteins involved in inflammation, including a high expression of metalloproteinase inhibitor-1 (TIMP-1) that was associated with poor survival across two validation cohorts (n = 180). Notably, the combination of TIMP-1 with the international prognostic index (IPI) identified 64.00% to 88.24% of relapsed and 65.00% to 80.49% of deceased patients in the discovery and two validation cohorts, which represents a 24.00% to 41.67% and 20.00% to 31.70% improvement compared to the IPI score alone, respectively. Taken together, we demonstrate that DLBCL heterogeneity is reflected in the plasma proteome and that TIMP-1, together with the IPI, could improve the prognostic stratification of patients.

AIM: Doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity (DIC) is an increasing problem, occurring in many cancer patients receiving anthracycline chemotherapy, ultimately leading to heart failure (HF). Unfortunately, DIC remains difficult to manage due to an ignorance regarding pathophysiological mechanisms. Our work aimed to evaluate the role of HSP47 in doxorubicin-induced HF, and to explore the molecular mechanisms. METHODS AND RESULTS: Mice were exposed to multi-intraperitoneal injection of doxorubicin (DOX, 4mg/kg/week, for 6 weeks continuously) to produce DIC. HSP47 expression was significantly upregulated in serum and in heart tissue in DOX-treated mice and in isolated cardiomyocytes. Mice with cardiac-specific HSP47 overexpression and knockdown were generated using recombinant adeno-associated virus (rAVV9) injection. Importantly, cardiac-specific HSP47 overexpression exacerbated cardiac dysfunction in DIC, while HSP47 knockdown prevented DOX-induced cardiac dysfunction, cardiac atrophy and fibrosis in vivo and in vitro. Mechanistically, we identified that HSP47 directly interacted with IRE1α in cardiomyocytes. Furthermore, we provided powerful evidence that HSP47-IRE1α complex promoted TXNIP/NLRP3 inflammasome and reinforced USP1-mediated NLRP3 ubiquitination. Moreover, NLRP3 deficiency in vivo conspicuously abolished HSP47-mediated cardiac atrophy and fibrogenesis under DOX condition. CONCLUSION: HSP47 was highly expressed in serum and cardiac tissue after doxorubicin administration. HSP47 contributed to long-term anthracycline chemotherapy-associated cardiac dysfunction in an NLRP3-dependent manner. HSP47 therefore represents a plausible target for future therapy of doxorubicin-induced HF.

BACKGROUND: Pigeon circovirus infections in pigeons (Columba livia domestica) have been reported worldwide. Pigeons should be PiCV-free when utilized as qualified experimental animals. However, pigeons can be freely purchased as experimental animals without any clear guidelines to follow. Herein, we investigated the status quo of PiCV infections on a pigeon farm in Beijing, China, which provides pigeons for experimental use. RESULTS: PiCV infection was verified in at least three types of tissues in all forty pigeons tested. A total of 29 full-length genomes were obtained and deposited in GenBank. The whole genome sequence comparison among the 29 identified PiCV strains revealed nucleotide homologies of 85.8-100%, and these sequences exhibited nucleotide homologies of 82.7-98.9% as compared with those of the reference sequences. The cap gene displayed genetic diversity, with a wide range of amino acid homologies ranging from 64.5% to 100%. Phylogenetic analysis of the 29 full-genome sequences revealed that the PiCV strains in this study could be further divided into four clades: A (17.2%), B (10.4%), C (37.9%) and D (34.5%). Thirteen recombination events were also detected in 18 out of the 29 PiCV genomes obtained in this study. Phylogenetic research using the rep and cap genes verified the recombination events, which occurred between clades A/F, A/B, C/D, and B/D among the 18 PiCV strains studied. CONCLUSIONS: In conclusion, PiCV infection, which is highly genetically varied, is extremely widespread on pigeon farms in Beijing. These findings indicate that if pigeons are to be used as experimental animals, it is necessary to evaluate the impact of PiCV infection on the results.

The reason why heating is required remains elusive for the traditional synthesis of colloidal semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) of II-VI metal chalcogenide (ME). Using CdTe as a model system, we show that the formation of Cd-Te covalent bonds with individual Cd- and Te-containing compounds can be decoupled from the nucleation and growth of CdTe QDs. Prepared at an elevated temperature, a prenucleation-stage sample contains clusters that are the precursor compound (PC) of magic-size clusters (MSCs); the Cd-Te bond formation occurs at temperatures higher than 120 °C in the reaction. Afterward, the PC-to-QD transformation appears via monomers at lower temperatures in dispersion. Our findings suggest that the number of Cd-Te bonds broken in the PC reactant is similar to that of Cd-Te bonds formed in the QD product. For the traditional synthesis of ME QDs, heating is responsible for the M-E bond formation rather than for nucleation.
RESUMO
BACKGROUND: R-CHOP (rituximab plus cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisone) is a standard first-line treatment for diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). However, 20%-40% of patients survive less than 5 years. Novel prognostic biomarkers remain in demand. METHODS: Baseline plasma autoantibodies (AAbs) were assessed in 336 DLBCLs. In the discovery phase (n = 20), a high-density antigen microarray (â¼21,000 proteins) was used to expound AAb profiles. In the verification phase (n = 181), with a DLBCL-focused microarray, comparative results based on event-free survival at 24 months (EFS24) and lasso Cox regression models of progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) were integrated to identify potential biomarkers. They were further validated by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay in validation phase 1 (n = 135) and a dynamic cohort (n = 12). In validation phase 2, a two-AAb-based risk score was established. They were further validated in an immunohistochemistry cohort (n = 55) and four independent Gene Expression Omnibus datasets (n = 1598). RESULTS: Four AAbs (CREB1, N4BP1, UBAP2, and DEAF1) were identified that showed associations with EFS24 status (p < .05) and superior PFS and OS (p < .05). A novel risk score model based on CREB1 and N4BP1 AAbs was developed to predict PFS with areas under the curve of 0.72, 0.71, 0.76, and 0.82 at 1, 3, 5, and 7 years, respectively, in DLBCL treated with R-CHOP independent of the International Prognostic Index (IPI) and provided significant additional recurrence risk discrimination (p < .05) for the IPI. CREB1 and N4BP1 proteins and messenger RNAs were also associated with better PFS and OS (p < .05). CONCLUSIONS: This study identified a novel prognostic panel of CREB1, N4BP1, DEAF1, and UBAP2 AAbs that is independent of the IPI in DLBCL.

BACKGROUND: Colon cancer is one of the most common digestive tract malignancies. Although immunotherapy has brought new hope to colon cancer patients, there is still a large proportion of patients who do not benefit from immunotherapy. Studies have shown that neutrophils can interact with immune cells and immune factors to affect the prognosis of patients. METHODS: We first determined the infiltration level of neutrophils in tumors using the CIBERSORT algorithm and identified key genes in the final risk model by Spearman correlation analysis and subsequent Cox analysis. The risk score of each patient was obtained by multiplying the Cox regression coefficient and the gene expression level, and patients were divided into two groups based on the median of risk score. Differences in overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) were assessed by Kaplan-Meier survival analysis, and model accuracy was validated in independent dataset. Differences in immune infiltration and immunotherapy were evaluated by immunoassay. Finally, immunohistochemistry and western blotting were performed to verify the expression of the three genes in the colon normal and tumor tissues. RESULTS: We established and validated a risk scoring model based on neutrophil-related genes in two independent datasets, The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database, with SLC11A1 and SLC2A3 as risk factors and MMP3 as a protective factor. A new nomogram was constructed and validated by combining clinical characteristics and the risk score model to better predict patients OS and PFS. Immune analysis showed that patients in the high-risk group had immune cell infiltration level, immune checkpoint level and tumor mutational burden, and were more likely to benefit from immunotherapy. CONCLUSIONS: The low-risk group showed better OS and PFS than the high-risk group in the neutrophil-related gene-based risk model. Patients in the high-risk group presented higher immune infiltration levels and tumor mutational burden and thus may be more responsive to immunotherapy.

The response rate of anti-PD1 therapy is limited, and the influence of anti-PD1 therapy on cancer patients is unclear. To address these challenges, we conducted a longitudinal analysis of plasma proteomic changes with anti-PD1 therapy in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS), and lymphoma patients. We included 339 plasma samples before and after anti-PD1 therapy from 193 patients with NSCLC, ASPS, or lymphoma. The plasma proteins were detected using data-independent acquisition-mass spectrometry and customable antibody microarrays. Differential proteomic characteristics in responders (R) and non-responders (NR) before and after anti-PD1 therapy were elucidated. A total of 1019 proteins were detected using our in-depth proteomics platform and distributed across 10-12 orders of abundance. By comparing the differential plasma proteome expression between R and NR groups, 50, 206, and 268 proteins were identified in NSCLC, ASPS, and lymphoma patients, respectively. Th17, IL-17, and JAK-STAT signal pathways were identified upregulated in NR group, while cellular senescence and transcriptional misregulation pathways were activated in R group. Longitudinal proteomics analysis revealed the IL-17 signaling pathway was downregulated after treatment. Consistently, many proteins were identified as potential combinatorial therapeutic targets (e.g., IL-17A and CD22). Five noninvasive biomarkers (FLT4, SFTPB, GNPTG, F5, and IL-17A) were further validated in an independent lymphoma cohort (n = 39), and another three noninvasive biomarkers (KIT, CCL3, and TNFSF1) were validated in NSCLC cohort (n = 76). Our results provide molecular insights into the anti-PD1 therapy in cancer patients and identify new therapeutic strategies for anti-PD1-resistant patients.

Advanced bifunctional electrocatalysts are essential for propelling overall water splitting (OWS) progress. Herein, relying on the obvious difference in the work function of Ir (5.44 eV) and CoMoO4 (4.03 eV) and the constructed built-in electric field (BEF), an Ir/CoMoO4/NF heterogeneous catalyst, with ultrafine Ir nanoclusters (1.8 ± 0.2 nm) embedded in CoMoO4 nanosheet arrays on the surface of nickel foam skeleton, is reported. Impressively, the Ir/CoMoO4/NF shows remarkable electrocatalytic bifunctionality toward hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER), especially at large current densities, requiring only 13 and 166 mV to deliver 10 and 1000 mA cm-2 for HER and 196 and 318 mV for OER. Furthermore, the Ir/CoMoO4/NF||Ir/CoMoO4/NF electrolyzer demands only 1.43 and 1.81 V to drive 10 and 1000 mA cm-2 for OWS. Systematical theoretical calculations and tests show that the formed BEF not only optimizes interfacial charge distribution and the Fermi level of both Ir and CoMoO4, but also reduces the Gibbs free energy (ΔGH*, from 0.25 to 0.03 eV) and activation energy (from 13.6 to 8.9 kJ mol-1) of HER, the energy barrier (from 3.47 to 1.56 eV) and activation energy (from 21.1 to 13.9 kJ mol-1) of OER, thereby contributing to the glorious electrocatalytic bifunctionality.
RESUMO
The synthetic application of prenucleation-stage samples of colloidal semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) is in its infancy. It is shown that when two prenucleation-stage samples of binary CdSe and CdS are mixed, ternary CdSeS magic-size clusters (MSCs) grow at room temperature in dispersion. As the amount of the CdS sample increases, the optical absorption of the CdSeS MSCs blueshifts from ≈380 to ≈360 nm. It is proposed that the cluster in the CdSe sample reacts with the CdS monomer from the CdS sample. The monomer substitution reaction of CdSe by CdS can proceed continuously; thus, CdSeS MSCs with tunable compositions are obtained. The present study provides compelling evidence that clusters formed in the prenucleation stage of QDs. The clusters are precursor compounds (PCs) of MSCs, transforming at room temperature with the thermoneutrality principle of isodesmic reactions. The nucleation and growth of QDs follows a multi-step non-classical instead of one-step classical nucleation model.
RESUMO
The research on systems with coexistence of superconductivity and nontrivial band topology has attracted widespread attention. However, the limited availability of material platforms severely hinders the research progress. Here, it reports the first experimental synthesis and measurement of high-quality single crystal van der Waals transition-metal dichalcogenide InNbS2 , revealing it as a topological nodal line semimetal with coexisting superconductivity. The temperature-dependent measurements of magnetization susceptibility and electrical transport show that InNbS2 is a type-II superconductor with a transition temperature Tc of 6 K. First-principles calculations predict multiple topological nodal ring states close to the Fermi level in the presence of spin-orbit coupling. Similar features are also observed in the as-synthesized BiNbS2 and PbNbS2 samples. This work provides new material platforms ANbS2 (A = In, Bi, and Pb) and uncovers their intriguing potential for exploring the interplay between superconductivity and band topology.
RESUMO
Van der Waals (vdW) magnetic materials have broad application prospects in next-generation spintronics. Inserting magnetic elements into nonmagnetic vdW materials can introduce magnetism and enhance various transport properties. Herein, the unconventional magnetic and magneto-transport phenomena is reported in Ni0.28TaSeS crystal by intercalating Ni atoms into nonmagnetic 2H-TaSeS matrix. Magnetic characterization reveals a canted magnetic structure in Ni0.28TaSeS, which results in an antiferromagnetic (AFM) order along the c-axis and a ferromagnetic (FM) moment in the ab-plane. The presence of spin-flop (SF) behavior can also be attributed to the canted magnetic structure. Temperature-dependent resistivity exhibits a metallic behavior with an abrupt decrease corresponding to the magnetic transition. Magneto-transport measurements demonstrate a positive magnetoresistance (MR) with a plateau that is different from conventional magnetic materials. The field-dependent Hall signal exhibits nonlinear field dependence when the material is in magnetically ordered state. These unconventional magneto-transport behaviors are attributed to the field-induced formation of a complex spin texture in Ni0.28TaSeS. In addition, it further investigated the angle dependence of MR and observed an unusual fourfold anisotropic magnetoresistance (AMR) effect. This work inspires future research on spintronic devices utilizing magnetic atom-intercalated quasi-2D materials.
RESUMO
The management of chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a global health challenge. Elevated levels of inflammatory cytokines, including interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), are associated with higher mortality rates in patients with CKD. Moreover, increased fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23) levels are a strong predictor of adverse clinical outcomes in CKD. The production of Klotho, which plays a protective role is decreased in patients with CKD. However, the relationship between FGF23-Klotho and levels of inflammatory factors in patients with CKD is unclear. This study aimed to explore the effects of changes in the FGF23-Klotho axis on inflammatory factors in patients with CKD, with a view to providing ideas for novel treatments of CKD. Clinical data were collected from 85 patients with CKD and 17 healthy subjects admitted to the Department of Nephrology of Henan Provincial People's Hospital between June-August 2023. The differences in biochemical indicators at various stages of CKD and healthy people were analyzed. Using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and immunohistochemistry, changes in the FGF23-Klotho axis, and their relationship with interleukin 6 (IL-6) and TNF-α were assessed. FGF23 levels gradually increased from CKD stages 1 to 5, with significant differences observed between stages 3 to 5. Klotho levels significantly decreased in CKD stages 3-5. The levels of C-reactive protein (CRP), IL-6, and TNF-α gradually increased. Overall, FGF23 expression was negatively correlated with Klotho levels and positively correlated with CRP, IL-6, and TNF-α levels. In renal tubular epithelial cells, knockdown of Klotho and overexpression of FGF23 increased the expression of inflammatory factors; however, their levels were significantly lower than that of the Klotho knockdown group. Collectively, these findings demonstrate that in CKD, the FGF23-Klotho axis promotes the expression of inflammatory cytokines in renal tubular epithelial cells.
RESUMO
Technology at the single-cell level has advanced dramatically in characterizing molecular heterogeneity. These technologies have enabled cell subtype diversity to be seen in all tissues, including atherosclerotic plaques. Critical in atherosclerosis pathogenesis and progression are macrophages. Previous studies have only determined macrophage phenotypes within the plaque, mainly by bulk analysis. However, recent progress in single-cell technologies now enables the comprehensive mapping of macrophage subsets and phenotypes present in plaques. In this review, we have updated and discussed the definition and classification of macrophage subsets in mice and humans using single-cell RNA sequencing. We summarized the different classification methods and perspectives: traditional classification with an updated scoring system, inflammatory macrophages, foamy macrophages, and atherosclerotic-resident macrophages. In addition, some special types of macrophages were identified by specific markers, including IFN-inducible and cavity macrophages. Furthermore, we discussed macrophage subset-specific markers and their functions. In the future, these novel insights into the characteristics and phenotypes of these macrophage subsets within atherosclerotic plaques can provide additional therapeutic targets for cardiovascular diseases.

Blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm (BPDCN) is a rare and aggressive myeloid malignancy associated with a poor prognosis. Although allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) has emerged as a potential treatment strategy for BPDCN, standardized conditioning regimens remain lacking. In this manuscript, we present two cases of BPDCN that were treated with a thiotepa-busulfan-fludarabine (TBF)-based conditioning regimen prior to allo-HSCT. Both cases demonstrated complete remission post-transplantation, sustained donor chimerism, and remission maintenance, suggesting the potential efficacy of the TBF conditioning regimen for BPDCN transplantation. Given the small sample size in our study, we emphasize caution and advocate for larger studies to confirm the efficacy of TBF in the treatment of BPDCN.

The increasing health risks posed by per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) in the environment highlight the importance of implementing effective removal techniques. Conventional wastewater treatment processes are inadequate for removing persistent organic pollutants. Recent studies have increasingly demonstrated that metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are capable of removing PFASs from water through adsorption techniques. However, there is still constructive discussion on the potential of MOFs in adsorbing and removing PFASs for large-scale engineering applications. This review systematically investigates the use of MOFs as adsorbents for the removal of PFAS in water treatment. This primarily involved a comprehensive analysis of existing literature to understand the adsorption mechanisms of MOFs and to identify factors that enhance their efficiency in removing PFASs. We also explore the critical aspects of regeneration and stability of MOFs, assessing their reusability and long-term performance, which are essential for large-scale water treatment applications. Finally, our study highlights the challenges of removing PFASs using MOFs. Especially, the efficient removal of short-chain PFASs with hydrophilicity is a major challenge, while medium- to long-chain PFASs are frequently susceptible to being captured from water by MOFs through multiple synergistic effects. The ion-exchange force may be the key to solving this difficulty, but its susceptibility to ion interference in water needs to be addressed in practical applications. We hope that this review can provide valuable insights into the effective removal and adsorption mechanisms of PFASs as well as advance the sustainable utilization of MOFs in the field of water treatment, thereby presenting a novel perspective.
RESUMO
A high-efficiency tandem process has been developed for the formation of two C-N bonds through a cross-dehydrogenative coupling (CDC) amination of spiro[acridine-9,9'-fluorene]s (SAFs) with amines. This method offers a strategically innovative and atom-economical approach to obtaining diamine-substituted SAFs. Notably, the approach eliminates the need for metal catalysts and other additives, relying solely on O2 as the oxidant. A self-activation mechanism has been proposed to elucidate the effective double amination in the CDC process.
RESUMO
We report the first room-temperature synthesis of ternary CdTeSe magic-size clusters (MSCs) that have mainly the surface ligand oleate (OA). The MSCs display sharp optical absorption peaking at â¼399 nm and are thus referred to as MSC-399. They are made from prenucleation-stage samples of binary CdTe and CdSe, which are prepared by two reactions in 1-octadecene (ODE) of cadmium oleate (Cd(OA)2) and tri-n-octylphosphine chalcogenide (ETOP, E = Te and Se) at 25 °C for 120 min and 80 °C for 15 min, respectively. When the two binary samples are mixed at room temperature and dispersed in a mixture of toluene (Tol) and octylamine (OTA), the CdTeSe MSC-399 develops. Also, when the CdSe sample is added to CdTe MSC-371 in a dispersion, the transformation from CdTe MSC-371 to CdTeSe MSC-399 is seen. We propose that the MSCs develop from their precursor compounds (PCs) that are relatively transparent in optical absorption, such as CdTeSe MSC-399 from CdTeSe PC-399 and CdTe MSC-371 from CdTe PC-371. The formation of CdTeSe PC-399 undergoes monomer substitution and not anion exchange, which is the reaction of CdTe PC-371 and the CdSe monomer to produce CdTeSe PC-399 and the CdTe monomer. Our study provides evidence of monomer substitution for the transformation from binary CdTe to ternary CdTeSe PCs.
RESUMO
A novel portable smartphone-assisted colorimetric method was reported for the determination of Hg2+ with good analytical performance. A Zr(IV)-based metal-organic framework functionalized with amino groups (NH2-UiO-66) has been adopted as a supporting platform to anchor gold nanoparticles (AuNPs), avoiding the migration and aggregation of AuNPs. With the addition of Hg2+, the formation of gold amalgam proved possible to enhance peroxidase-like activity of the composite (AuNPs/NH2-UiO-66), accelerating the oxidization of zymolyte 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB). In the meantime, the color of the reaction solution turned a vivid blue, and the red, green, and blue (RGB) values of the solution color changed accordingly. On account of this strategy, the quantitative detection of Hg2+ could be achieved. After the optimization of the experiment conditions, the average color intensity (Ic) resulting from RGB values was linear related to the concentration of Hg2+ from 10 to 100 nM, accompanied with a detection limit (LOD) down to 5.4 nM calculated by 3σ/S. The successful application of the designed method has been promoted to detect Hg2+ in some water samples, displaying a great potential in practical application. Furthermore, the use of a smartphone made our proposed method simple and accurate, and thus puts forward a possible way for in situ and real-time monitoring.
