RESUMO

PURPOSE: Interleukin-10 receptor (IL-10R) deficiency can result in life-threatening very early-onset inflammatory bowel disease (VEO-IBD). Umbilical cord blood transplantation (UCBT) is a curative therapy for patients with IL-10R deficiency. This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of UCBT in treating IL-10R deficiency and develop a predictive model based on pre-transplant factors. METHODS: Eighty patients with IL-10R deficiency who underwent UCBT between July 2015 and April 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. Cox proportional hazards regression and random survival forest were used to develop a predictive model. RESULTS: Median age at transplant was 13.0 months (interquartile range [IQR], 8.8-25.3 months). With a median follow-up time of 29.4 months (IQR, 3.2-57.1 months), the overall survival (OS) rate was 65.0% (95% confidence interval [CI], 55.3%-76.3%). The engraftment rate was 85% (95% CI, 77%-93%). The cumulative incidences of acute and chronic graft-versus-host disease were 48.2% (95% CI, 37.1%-59.4%) and 12.2% (95% CI, 4.7%-19.8%), respectively. VEO-IBD-associated clinical symptoms were resolved in all survivors. The multivariate analysis showed that IL-6 and stool occult blood were independent prognostic risk factors. The multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression model with stool occult blood, length- or height-for-age Z-score, medical history of sepsis, and cord blood total nucleated cells showed good discrimination ability, with a bootstrap concordance index of 0.767-0.775 in predicting OS. CONCLUSION: Better inflammation control before transplantation and higher cord blood total nucleated cell levels can improve patient prognosis. The nomogram can successfully predict OS in patients with IL-10R deficiency undergoing UCBT.

RESUMO

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common, heterogenous endocrine disorders and is the leading cause of ovulatory obstacle associated with abnormal folliculogenesis. Dysfunction of ovarian granulosa cells (GCs) is recognized as a major factor that underlies abnormal follicle maturation. Angiopoietin-like 4 (ANGPTL4) expression in GCs differs between patients with and without PCOS. However, the role and mechanism of ANGPTL4 in impaired follicular development are still poorly understood. Here, the case-control study was designed to investigate the predictive value of ANGPTL4 in PCOS while cell experiments in vitro were set for mechanism research. Results found that ANGPTL4 levels in serum and in follicular fluid, and its expression in GCs, were upregulated in patients with PCOS. In KGN and SVOG cells, upregulation of ANGPTL4 inhibited the proliferation of GCs by blocking G1/S cell cycle progression, as well as the molecular activation of the EGFR/JAK1/STAT3 cascade. Moreover, the STAT3-dependent CDKN1A(p21) promoter increased CDKN1A transcription, resulting in remarkable suppression effect on GCs. Together, our results demonstrated that overexpression of ANGPTL4 inhibited the proliferation of GCs through EGFR/JAK1/STAT3-mediated induction of p21, thus providing a novel epigenetic mechanism for the pathogenesis of PCOS.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Objective evaluation of treatment response is critical in the management of Crohn's disease (CD). Compared with endoscopy, intestinal ultrasound (IUS) is non-invasive and well-tolerated. This study is aimed to assess the predictive value of IUS score for treatment response in pediatric CD patients. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective study in pediatric CD patients who underwent endoscopy and IUS at start of infliximab treatment [T0] and after 22-38 weeks [T1] between February 2021 and January 2023. Pediatric Crohn's Disease Activity Index (PCDAI), biochemical parameters, the Simple Endoscopic Score for Crohn's disease (SES-CD) and IUS parameters were collected at two timepoints. IUS scores were assessed by International Bowel Ultrasound Segment Activity Score (IBUS-SAS). RESULTS: Thirty patients were included, with 53.3% reaching endoscopic response and 43.3% endoscopic remission. After infliximab treatment, IBUS-SAS (58.5 ± 24.2 vs 34.4 ± 21.6, p = .0001) was significantly decreased. At T1, change in IBUS-SAS (-38.2 ± 22.0 vs -7.9 ± 24.1, p = .0015) were pronounced in patients with endoscopic response compared with endoscopic non-response. Significant correlation were observed between IBUS-SAS and SES-CD, PCDAI, C-reaction protein, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, hemoglobin, albumin. The most accurate cutoff values for predicting endoscopic response were 57.4% decrease of IBUS-SAS (AUROC: 0.862, p < .001). The optimal cut-off of IBUS-SAS to correlate endoscopic remission was 26.0 (AUROC: 0.686, p = .017). CONCLUSIONS: The validated ultrasound-base score, IBUS-SAS is an effective index for monitoring endoscopic response to infliximab therapy in CD. IUS evaluation could guide treatment decision for pediatric CD.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: This study used random forest model to explore the feasibility of radial artery calcification in prediction of coronary artery calcification in hemodialysis patients. MATERIAL AND METHODS: We enrolled hemodialysis patients and performed ultrasound examinations on their radial arteries to evaluate the calcification status using a calcification index. All involved patients received coronary artery computed tomography scans to generate coronary artery calcification scores (CACS). Clinical variables were collected from all patients. We constructed both a random forest model and a logistic regression model to predict CACS. Logistic regression model was used to identify the risk factors of radial artery calcification. RESULTS: One hundred eighteen patients were included in our analysis. In random forest model, the radial artery calcification index, age, serum C-reactive protein, body mass index (BMI), diabetes, and hypertension history were related to CACS based on the average decrease of the Gini coefficient. The random forest model achieved a sensitivity of 76.9%, specificity of 75.0%, and area under receiver operating characteristic of 0.869, while the logistic regression model achieved a sensitivity of 75.2%, specificity of 68.7%, and area under receiver operating characteristic of 0.742 in prediction of CACS. Sex, BMI index, smoking history, hypertension history, diabetes history, and serum total calcium were all the risk factors related to radial artery calcification. CONCLUSIONS: A random forest model based on radial artery calcification could be used to predict CACS in hemodialysis patients, providing a potential method for rapid screening and prediction of coronary artery calcification.

RESUMO

Noncanonical nucleic acid structures, such as G-quadruplex (G4) and i-Motif (iM), have attracted increasing research interests because of their unique structural and binding properties, as well as their important biological activities. To date, thousands of small molecules that bind to varying G4/iM structures have been designed, synthesized and tested for diverse chemical and biological uses. Because of the huge potential and increasing research interests on G4-targeting ligands, we launched the first G4 ligand database G4LDB in 2013. Here, we report a new version, termed G4LDB 2.2 (http://www.g4ldb.com), with upgrades in both content and function. Currently, G4LDB2.2 contains >3200 G4/iM ligands, ∼28 500 activity entries and 79 G4-ligand docking models. In addition to G4 ligand library, we have also added a brand new iM ligand library to G4LDB 2.2, providing a comprehensive view of quadruplex nucleic acids. To further enhance user experience, we have also redesigned the user interface and optimized the database structure and retrieval mechanism. With these improvements, we anticipate that G4LDB 2.2 will serve as a comprehensive resource and useful research toolkit for researchers across wide scientific communities and accelerate discovering and validating better binders and drug candidates.

RESUMO

Joint source-channel coding (JSCC) based on deep learning has shown significant advancements in image transmission tasks. However, previous channel-adaptive JSCC methods often rely on the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the current channel for encoding, which overlooks the neural network's self-adaptive capability across varying SNRs. This paper investigates the self-adaptive capability of deep learning-based JSCC models to dynamically changing channels and introduces a novel method named Channel-Blind JSCC (CBJSCC). CBJSCC leverages the intrinsic learning capability of neural networks to self-adapt to dynamic channels and diverse SNRs without relying on external SNR information. This approach is advantageous, as it is not affected by channel estimation errors and can be applied to one-to-many wireless communication scenarios. To enhance the performance of JSCC tasks, the CBJSCC model employs a specially designed encoder-decoder. Experimental results show that CBJSCC outperforms existing channel-adaptive JSCC methods that depend on SNR estimation and feedback, both in additive white Gaussian noise environments and under slow Rayleigh fading channel conditions. Through a comprehensive analysis of the model's performance, we further validate the robustness and adaptability of this strategy across different application scenarios, with the experimental results providing strong evidence to support this claim.

RESUMO

Four new nortriterpenoid alkaloids, namely buxrugulines E-H (1-4), along with five known ones (5-9), were isolated from the twigs and leaves of Buxus rugulosa. Their structures were identified based on extensive NMR data and MS spectroscopic analyses. Our bioassays revealed that compounds 5, 6 and 8 exhibited potent cytotoxicity in vitro against MCF-7 cell lines, with IC50 values ranging from 6.70 to 11.00 µM, respectively.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: Pediatric patients with inborn errors of immunity (IEI) undergoing umbilical cord blood transplantation (UCBT) are at risk of early mortality. Our aim was to develop and validate a prediction model for early mortality after UCBT in pediatric IEI patients based on pretransplant factors. METHODS: Data from 230 pediatric IEI patients who received their first UCBT between 2014 and 2021 at a single center were analyzed retrospectively. Data from 2014-2019 and 2020-2021 were used as training and validation sets, respectively. The primary outcome of interest was early mortality. Machine learning algorithms were used to identify risk factors associated with early mortality and to build predictive models. The model with the best performance was visualized using a nomogram. Discriminative ability was measured using the area under the curve (AUC) and decision curve analysis. RESULTS: Fifty days was determined as the cutoff for distinguishing early mortality in pediatric IEI patients undergoing UCBT. Of the 230 patients, 43 (18.7%) suffered early mortality. Multivariate logistic regression with pretransplant albumin, CD4 (absolute count), elevated C-reactive protein, and medical history of sepsis showed good discriminant AUC values of 0.7385 (95% CI, 0.5824-0.8945) and 0.827 (95% CI, 0.7409-0.9132) in predicting early mortality in the validation and training sets, respectively. The sensitivity and specificity were 0.5385 and 0.8154 for validation and 0.7667 and 0.7705 for training, respectively. The final model yielded net benefits across a reasonable range of risk thresholds. CONCLUSION: The developed nomogram can predict early mortality in pediatric IEI patients undergoing UCBT.

RESUMO

Rotavirus live-attenuated vaccines, both mono- and pentavalent, generate broadly heterotypic protection. B-cells isolated from adults encode neutralizing antibodies, some with affinity for VP5*, that afford broad protection in mice. We have mapped the epitope of one such antibody by determining the high-resolution cryo-EM structure of its antigen-binding fragment (Fab) bound to the virion of a candidate vaccine strain, CDC-9. The Fab contacts both the distal end of a VP5* ß-barrel domain and the two VP8* lectin-like domains at the tip of a projecting spike. Its interactions with VP8* do not impinge on the likely receptor-binding site, suggesting that the mechanism of neutralization is at a step subsequent to initial attachment. We also examined structures of CDC-9 virions from two different stages of serial passaging. Nearly all the VP4 (cleaved to VP8*/VP5*) spikes on particles from the earlier passage (wild-type isolate) had transitioned from the "upright" conformation present on fully infectious virions to the "reversed" conformation that is probably the end state of membrane insertion, unable to mediate penetration, consistent with the very low in vitro infectivity of the wild-type isolate. About half the VP4 spikes were upright on particles from the later passage, which had recovered substantial in vitro infectivity but had acquired an attenuated phenotype in neonatal rats. A mutation in VP4 that occurred during passaging appears to stabilize the interface at the apex of the spike and could account for the greater stability of the upright spikes on the late-passage, attenuated isolate. IMPORTANCE Rotavirus live-attenuated vaccines generate broadly heterotypic protection, and B-cells isolated from adults encode antibodies that are broadly protective in mice. Determining the structural and mechanistic basis of broad protection can contribute to understanding the current limitations of vaccine efficacy in developing countries. The structure of an attenuated human rotavirus isolate (CDC-9) bound with the Fab fragment of a broadly heterotypic protective antibody shows that protection is probably due to inhibition of the conformational transition in the viral spike protein (VP4) critical for viral penetration, rather than to inhibition of receptor binding. A comparison of structures of CDC-9 virus particles at two stages of serial passaging supports a proposed mechanism for initial steps in rotavirus membrane penetration.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Peroxisomal proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs) and microRNAs (miRNAs) play important roles in the development of fetuses, whereas expression changes of PPARs and three miRNAs (miR-17, miR-27b and miR-34a) and whether these miRNAs regulate PPARs in non-GDM macrosomia placenta is unclear. METHODS: A case-control study was performed to collect information and placental tissues on mothers and newborns of non-GDM macrosomia and normal-birth-weight infants. In vitro HTR8-SVneo cellular model was used to detect the effects of miRNAs on PPARs expression. Quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) and western blot was applied to examine the expression levels of PPARs, miR-17, miR-27b, and miR-34a in placental tissues and cells. RESULTS: The PPARα/γ mRNA and protein levels were significantly up-regulated and miR-27b was down-regulated in the placenta of macrosomia group compared with in the control group, while no difference was observed in PPARß, miR-17, and miR-34a. After adjusting for confounding factors, low miR-27b and high PPARα/γ mRNA expression still increased the risk of macrosomia. The PPARα/γ protein levels presented a corresponding decrease or increase when cells were transfected with miR-27b mimic or inhibitor. CONCLUSIONS: Placental PPARα/γ and miR-27b expression were associated with non-GDM macrosomia and miR-27b probably promotes the occurrence of non-GDM macrosomia by regulating PPARα/γ protein. IMPACT: Low miR-27b and high PPARα/γ mRNA expression in the placenta were associated with higher risk of macrosomia. In vitro HTR8-SVneo cell experiment supported that miR-27b could negatively regulate the expression of PPARα and PPARγ protein. MiR-27b was probably involved in non-GDM macrosomia through negative regulation of PPARα/γ protein.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Very early-onset inflammatory bowel disease (VEOIBD) with interleukin-10 (IL10R) signaling deficiency usually requires enterostomy in patients who are refractory to traditional treatment. This study aimed to evaluate long-term outcomes after enterostomy for VEOIBD patients with IL10R signaling deficiency. METHODS: The medical records of all patients undergoing enterostomy for signaling deficiency were retrospectively assessed during 2012.1-2022.7 in a tertiary teaching hospital, Children's Hospital of Fudan University, Shanghai, China. Data on disease history, diagnosis and details of enterostomy and stoma closure and follow-up were collected. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were used to evaluate the risk factors associated with the long-term outcome of delayed stoma closure. RESULTS: A total of 46 patients underwent an enterostomy, 19 who required emergency enterostomy and 27 with selective enterostomy. After ten years of follow-up, 35 patients underwent hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), and 25 patients were alive after HSCT. The median timeframe between HSCT and stoma closure was 19.6 [15.9,26.2] months. Nineteen patients underwent stoma closure and had an average age of 3.9 ± 1.5 years; 6 patients were waiting for stoma closure. Based on a univariate logistic model, risk factors significantly associated with late stoma closure were age at enterostomy and age at HSCT. However, multivariate logistic regression showed no statistically significant factor associated with late stoma closure. There was no significant difference between the stoma closure group and delay closure group in the z scores of weight for age at follow up. CONCLUSIONS: This study determined the long-term outcomes after enterostomy for VEOIBD with interleukin-10 signaling deficiency. The appropriate time point of enterostomy and HSCT may improve quality of life in the long term.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Although in vitro fertilization (IVF) can increase the incidence of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP), the pregnancy outcomes and disease phenotype of HDP in singleton pregnancies conceived via IVF remain unclear. METHODS: This retrospective cohort study enrolled 1130 singleton pregnancies with HDP from 2016 to 2020. According to the mode of conception, they were allocated into IVF (n = 102) and natural conception (NC) groups (n = 1028). All IVF pregnancies were subdivided into frozen embryo transfer (FET) group (n = 42) and fresh embryo transfer (ET) group (n = 60). Demographic data, pregnancy outcomes and disease phenotypes of HDP among the groups were compared. The risk factors for severe preeclampsia (PE) and early-onset PE were analyzed. RESULTS: The incidences of early-onset PE (P<0.001), severe PE (P = 0.016), cesarean section (P<0.001) and preterm births (P = 0.003) in the IVF-HDP group were significantly higher than those in the NC-HDP group, and gestational age at diagnosis of HDP (P = 0.027) and gestational age at delivery (P = 0.004) were earlier and birthweight of the neonates (P = 0.033) were lower in the IVF group. In singleton pregnancies with HDP, IVF was associated with increased risks for both severe PE and early-onset PE (aOR 1.945, 95% CI 1.256, 3.014; and aOR 2.373, 95% CI 1.537, 3.663, respectively), as well as FET, family history of preeclampsia, intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy, gestational hypothyroidism and multiparity were associated with increased risks of severe PE and early-onset PE. CONCLUSIONS: In singleton pregnancies with HDP, IVF was associated with an increased incidence of the disease phenotype (severe or early-onset PE), as well as an increased incidence of pregnancy outcomes related to severe PE and early-onset PE.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: Accumulating studies have suggested singletons born after frozen embryo transfer (FET) were higher than those born after fresh embryo transfer (Fre-ET). However, fewer studies had investigated the gestational age-specific between-group difference in birthweight. This study aimed to investigate the gestational week-specific difference in singleton birthweight after FET vs Fre-ET and explore potential factors that impact the difference. MATERIAL AND METHODS: In this retrospective cohort study, a total of 25 863 singletons were included. Multivariable linear regression and logistic regression were used to evaluate the between-group differences in mean birthweight and the incidences of large for gestational age (LGA) and small for gestational age (SGA), respectively. RESULTS: Multivariable regression analyses showed a statistically significant interaction between types of embryo transfer (ie FET vs Fre-ET) and the gestational week on mean birthweight (P < 0.001) and on the risks of large for gestational age (P = 0.001) and small for gestational age (P < 0.001). When stratified by gestational week, the differences in mean birthweight and the risks of LGA and SGA were only observed in singletons born at 37 gestational weeks or later. After adjusting for confounders, full-term but not preterm singletons born after FET had a higher birthweight (3497.58 ± 439.73 g vs 3445.67 ± 450.24 g; adjusted mean difference 58.35 g; 95% confidence interval [CI] 38.72-77.98 g), a higher risk of LGA (24.3% vs 21.1%; adjusted odds ratio [OR] 1.28, 95% CI 1.15-1.42) and a lower risk of SGA (3.1% vs 4.8%; adjusted OR 0.61, 95% CI 0.53-0.70) compared with those born after Fre-ET. CONCLUSIONS: The differences in birthweight between FET and Fre-ET were observed in full-term singletons but not preterm singletons.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: To explore whether the risks of early- or late-onset preeclampsia vary among frozen embryo transfer (FET) with different regimens for endometrial preparation and fresh embryo transfer (FreET). METHODS: We retrospectively included a total of 24129 women who achieved singleton delivery during their first cycles of in vitro fertilization (IVF) between January 2012 and March 2020. The risks of early- and late-onset preeclampsia after FET with endometrial preparation by natural ovulation cycles (FET-NC) or by artificial cycles (FET-AC) were compared to that after FreET. RESULTS: After adjustment via multivariable logistic regression, the total risk of preeclampsia was higher in the FET-AC group compared to the FreET group [2.2% vs. 0.9%; adjusted odds ratio (aOR): 2.00; 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.45-2.76] and FET-NC group (2.2% vs. 0.9%; aOR: 2.17; 95% CI: 1.59-2.96).When stratified by the gestational age at delivery based on < 34 weeks or ≥ 34 weeks, the risk of late-onset preeclampsia remained higher in the FET-AC group than that in the and FreET group (1.8% vs. 0.6%; aOR: 2.56; 95% CI: 1.83-3.58) and the FET-NC group (1.8% vs. 0.6%; aOR: 2.63; 95% CI: 1.86-3.73). We did not find a statistically significant difference in the risk of early-onset preeclampsia among the three groups. CONCLUSIONS: An artificial regimen for endometrial preparation was more associated with an increased risk of late-onset preeclampsia after FET. Given that FET-AC is widely used in clinical practice, the potential maternal risk factors for late-onset preeclampsia when using the FET-AC regimen should be further explored, considering the maternal origin of late-onset preeclampsia.

RESUMO

Beamspace MIMO-NOMA is an effective way to improve spectral efficiency. This paper focuses on a downlink non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) transmission scheme for a beamspace multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system. To increase the sum rate, we jointly optimize precoding and power allocation, which presents a non-convex problem. To solve this difficulty, we employ an alternating algorithm to optimize the precoding and power allocation. Regarding the precoding subproblem, we demonstrate that the original optimization problem can be transformed into an unconstrained optimization problem. Drawing inspiration from fraction programming (FP), we reconstruct the problem and derive a closed-form expression of the optimization variable. In addition, we effectively reduce the complexity of precoding by utilizing Neumann series expansion (NSE). For the power allocation subproblem, we adopt a dynamic power allocation scheme that considers both the intra-beam power optimization and the inter-beam power optimization. Simulation results show that the energy efficiency of the proposed beamspace MIMO-NOMA is significantly better than other conventional schemes.

RESUMO

Conductive nanopipettes offer promising confined spaces to enable advanced electrochemical sensing applications in small spaces. Herein, a series of metal-decorated carbon nanopipettes (CNPs) were developed, in which Au, Ag, and Pt are modified at the inner walls of CNPs by a simple electrodeposition method. The fabricated tips show good sensing performances for a variety of important analytes, such as glucose, hydrogen peroxide, and chloride and hydrogen ions in biological and catalytic systems. This simple and effective approach can be further extended to prepare other functionalized nanopipette electrodes toward more versatile and powerful measurements in electrochemical sensing and imaging applications.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: To explore the feasibility of [68Ga]Ga-DOTATATE positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) in patients with non-keratinizing nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) and to evaluate whether [68Ga]Ga-DOTATATE PET/CT could be used for non-invasive determination of somatostatin receptor 2 (SSTR2) expression in NPC. METHODS: This prospective study included patients with NPC who underwent [68Ga]Ga-DOTATATE PET/CT between February and May 2021. The [68Ga]Ga-DOTATATE and [18F]FDG uptakes in primary and metastatic NPC lesions were calculated and compared, and the [68Ga]Ga-DOTATATE uptake between SSTR2 score groups was analysed. RESULTS: A total of 36 participants (25 patients, initial staging; 11 patients, recurrence detection) were included; 33 patients also underwent [18F]FDG PET/CT for staging/restaging as a part of their routine diagnostic workup. [68Ga]Ga-DOTATATE PET/CT showed an intense tracer uptake in primary and metastatic NPC lesions. The radiotracer uptake was higher with [68Ga]Ga-DOTATATE than with [18F]FDG PET in primary NPC lesions (SUVmax: 12.03 vs. 10.07, P = 0.048; tumour-to-brain ratio: 36.16 vs. 0.86, P < 0.001) and regional lymph node metastases (median SUVmax: 9.11 vs. 6.12, P < 0.001) and comparable in bone and visceral metastases. Importantly, most NPC lesions showed intense SSTR2 expression (85.7%), which was strongly correlated with the [68Ga]Ga-DOTATATE uptake. The SUVmax of SSTR2-negative lesions was significantly lower than that of SSTR2-positive lesions (SUVmax: 4.95 vs. 12.61, P = 0.013). CONCLUSION: [68Ga]Ga-DOTATATE PET/CT is a promising imaging modality for detecting primary and metastatic NPC, with favourable image contrast and comparable diagnostic efficacy when compared to [18F]FDG PET/CT. An intense SSTR2 expression was observed in most NPCs, and this expression was significantly correlated with the [68Ga]Ga-DOTATATE uptake.

RESUMO

To isolate ß-galactosidase producing bacterial resources, a novel Gram-stain-negative, strictly aerobic bacterial strain designated as A6T was obtained from a farmland soil sample. Cells of the strain were rod-shaped (0.4-0.7 µm × 1.8-2.2 µm) without flagella and motility. Strain A6T grew optimally at 30 °C, pH 7.0 with 0% (w/v) NaCl. Based on phylogenetic analysis, strain A6T clustered within the genus Lysobacter clade and branched with Lysobacter dokdonensis KCTC 12822T (99.5%, 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity) and Lysobacter caseinilyticus KACC 19816T (98.5%). The average nucleotide identity (ANI) and digital DNA-DNA hybridization (dDDH) values between strain A6T and Lysobacter dokdonensis KCTC 12822T were 82.7% and 26.2%, and the values for strain A6T and KACC 19816T were 81.4% and 23.8%, respectively. Iso-C16:0, iso-C15:0, summed feature 9 (C17:1 iso ω9c and/or C16:0 10-methyl) and summed feature 3 (C16:1ω7c and/or C16:1 ω6c) were the major fatty acids, diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, and phosphatidylethanolamine were the major polar lipids, and ubiquinone 8 (Q-8) was the major ubiquinone. The genomic DNA G+C content was 67.2 mol%. Furthermore, under the condition of 30 °C, pH 7.0, 4% inoculation with 10.0 g L-1 lactose, the ß-galactosidase activity produced by strain A6T was highest, reaching 95.3 U mL-1, indicating that this strain could be applied as a potential strain for ß-galactosidase production. Strain A6T represents a novel species of the genus Lysobacter, and Lysobacter lactosilyticus sp. nov. is proposed on the basis of phenotypic, genotypic, and chemotaxonomic analysis. The type strain is A6T (=KCTC 82184T=CGMCC 1.18582T).

RESUMO

AIMS: This meta-analysis aimed to synthesize the available evidence on the effectiveness of psychoeducational interventions on family function among families after stroke. BACKGROUND: Family function may be improved by psychoeducational intervention, but findings about the effect of psychoeducation on family function among families after stroke have been mixed. METHODS: This was a meta-analysis carried out by searching five international electronic databases, including Cochrane Library, PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science and CINAHL, as well as four national electronic databases, including Chinese Biological Medicine (CBM), China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), VIP and Wanfang. Two groups of researchers screened the studies independently, assessed the quality of the studies and extracted data. Meta-analysis was performed by using the RevMan 5.3 software. RESULTS: Five studies on psychoeducational interventions were included. Pooled analysis of these studies showed a small effect of the interventions on improving family function (WMD: -0.13, 95% CI: -0.24 to -0.01, P < 0.05). Subgroup analysis showed significant differences between the psychoeducation and control groups at 1 month postintervention (WMD: -0.12, 95% CI: -0.18 to -0.05, P < 0.05) and more than 6 months postintervention (WMD: -0.14, 95% CI: -0.24 to -0.04, P < 0.05). The psychoeducational interventions also had positive effect on improving the problem solving (WMD: -0.22, 95% CI: -0.14 to -0.03, P < 0.05) and communication (WMD: -0.23, 95% CI: -0.41 to -0.05, P < 0.05) functions of the family. There were significant differences in the group of dyad intervention (WMD: -0.14, 95% CI: -0.25 to -0.02, P < 0.05) and the group using face to face method (WMD: -0.58, 95% CI: -0.84 to -0.32, P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Synthesized results demonstrated the favourable effect of psychoeducational interventions on the improvement of the family function among families after stroke, especially in terms of family problem solving and family communication. Future psychoeducational intervention research design should consider the combination of multiple intervention methods and the applicable population of intervention.

RESUMO

Designing an efficient decoder is an effective way to improve the performance of polar codes with limited code length. List flip decoders have received attention due to their good performance trade-off between list decoders and flip decoders. In particular, the newly proposed dynamic successive cancellation list flip (D-SCLF) decoder employs a new flip metric to effectively correct high-order errors and thus enhances the performance potential of present list flip decoders. However, this flip metric introduces extra exponential and logarithmic operations, and the number of these operations rises exponentially with the increase in the order of error correction and the number of information bits, which then limits its application value. Therefore, we designed an adaptive list flip (ALF) decoder with a new heuristic simplified flip metric, which replaces these extra nonlinear operations in the original flip metric with linear operations. Simulation results show that the simplified flip metric does not reduce the performance of the D-SCLF decoder. Moreover, based on the in-depth theoretical analyses of the combination of the adaptive list and the list flip decoders, the ALF decoder adopts the adaptive list to further reduce the average complexity.
