RESUMO

Central olfactory pathways (i.e., projection axons of the mitral and tufted cells), and especially olfactory striae, lack common terminology. This is due to their high degree of intra- and interindividual variability, which has been studied in detail over the past century by Beccari, Mutel, Klass, Erhart, and more recently, by Duque Parra et al. These variations led to some confusion about their number and anatomical arrangement. Recent advances in fiber tractography have enabled the precise in vivo visualization of human olfactory striae and the study of their projections. However, these studies require their algorithms to be set up according to the presumed anatomy of the analyzed fibers. A more precise definition of the olfactory striae is therefore needed, not only to allow a better analysis of the results but also to ensure the quality of the data obtained. By studying the various published works on the central olfactory pathways from the first systematic description by Soemmerring to the present, I have traced the different discussions on the olfactory tracts and summarized them here. This review adopts a systematic approach by addressing each stria individually and tracing the historical background of what was known about it in the past, compared to the current knowledge. The chronological and organized approach used provides a better understanding of the anatomy of these essential structures of the olfactory system.

INTRODUCTION AND HYPOTHESIS: The high prevalence of pelvic organ prolapse (POP) and related complications shows the necessity of early identification of risk factors. It is considered that striae and POP share a similar physiopathology. However, the link between the two is still inconclusive and requires further investigation. We conducted this study to evaluate the association between striae and POP. METHODS: Databases such as PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar were searched to find relevant literature from inception up to May 2023. Full-text articles published in English or other languages and observational studies were included. The statistical analysis was performed using STATA 14.2. The random effects model was performed and heterogeneity was ≥ 50%. Statistical tools such as the Chi-squared test and the I2 index were used to calculate the level of heterogeneity among studies. Additionally, we utilized Funnel plots and Egger tests to assess the presence of publication bias. RESULTS: Seven studies were selected for meta-analysis, yielding a total of 605 patients and 660 control subjects, to assess the link between striae and POP. The overall pooled odds ratio (OR) was 2.08 (95% confidence interval 1.04-4.19, I2 = 80.40%). Our analysis revealed a strong relationship between POP and striae (p < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: This study recommends that stretch marks may be used as a helpful indicator of the risk for POP. Evaluation of striae as a risk factor and screening tool for detecting women at risk for the development of POP should be addressed in future well-designed studies. However, there is a need for high-quality studies in this field owing to the low quality of evidence.

BACKGROUND: Striae Distensae (SD) is a common dermatological lesion. The mechanism of formation is unclear, the prevailing theory is mechanical pulling of the skin and hormonal changes. Traditional SD treatment methods include topical drugs, photoelectric therapy, stripping and others, but each has limitations. Stromal vascular fraction gel (SVF-gel) is a filler physically prepared from granular fat, enriched with adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) and extracellular matrix (ECM). A good effect in the treatment of neck lines, wounds, acne, and other aspects. SD formation and treatment goals are comparable to those of neck lines. In this study, SVF-gel filling will be used to treat mature SD, and its effectiveness and safety will be discussed in detail. METHODS: From December 2019 to June 2022, recruit patients who want to treat SD caused by obesity or pregnancy among those who have "autologous fat aspiration" to change their body shape. Preoperatively, the area to be treated for SD was marked, autologous fat aspiration was performed, and the aspirated fat was prepared as SVF-gel and filled into the preoperatively marked SD. All patients had preoperative and postoperative follow-up with planar photographs and VISIA skin analyzer photographs to assess surgical results and safety from subjective and objective perspectives. RESULTS: A total of 36 patients were enrolled, with 31 of them successfully followed up on. The mean Global Aesthetic Improvement Scale (GAIS) score six months after surgery was 1.87 ± 0.03. At six months postoperatively, the overall patient satisfaction rate was 90%. The depth, area, and color of SD improved six months after surgery, and no serious complications occurred in any of the patients. CONCLUSIONS: SVF-gel is a safe and effective method of improving mature SD and can be used as a clinical treatment option.

Striae distensae are common dermatological complaint. Cold laser using low-level light/laser therapy (LLLT) offers healing and analgesic effects and was not yet compared to 'hot lasers' efficacy. Study objective: to assess the efficacy and safety of LLLT in the management of stria alba compared to fractional carbon dioxide (FCO2) laser alone and to the combined use of both devices. Thirty patients with stria alba were randomized to receive either LLLT using diode 808 nm; 8-12 sessions, 2-3 sessions weekly (Group A) or FCO2 laser; 2 monthly sessions (Group B) or combined both devices simultaneously (Group C). Follow up was at 1 month and 3 months after last session. The efficacy of LLLT was statistically comparable to FCO2, despite numerical superiority of the latter. The combined group had the least numerical values in all efficacy outcomes. Patients in LLLT group did not experience any downtime. LLLT is effective in the management of stria alba comparable to the FCO2 laser. The lack of downtime with LLLT is reflected positively on patient's satisfaction. However, this is counterbalanced by the frequent weekly visits. Although adding LLLT to FCO2 laser palliates the laser side effects but it offers the least efficacy. INTRODUCTION: Striae distensae (SD), linear scars of derma, caused by disproportionate skin stretching, which indicates a cosmetic problem and even endangers individuals' psychosocial health. Microneedling, representing a relatively new procedural therapy, has shown brightening but diverse results in the remedy of SD. Our study systematically investigates and further evaluates the efficacy of microneedling for SD. METHOD: This study was conducted following the PRISMA guidelines. According to the preplanned search strategy, four electronic databases were comprehensively searched for eligible clinical controlled studies. Standardized mean difference (SMD) and odd ratio (OR) with 95% confidence intervals were calculated for continuous data and dichotomous data, respectively. RESULTS: According to the predetermined criteria, eleven eligible articles of six RCTs and five non-RCTs were included. Concerning clinical improvement, a significant difference was observed in the microneedle radiofrequency treatment subgroup (SMD: 0.57, 95% CI 0.20-0.94, P = 0.003). The pooled result of the second subgroup revealed that microneedling and lasers producing almost comparable effectiveness for treating SD with no significant difference (P = 0.35). The analysis result of the third subgroup of microneedling versus non-laser therapy indicated significant difference at the 5% significance level (SMD:1.01, 95% CI 0.51-1.51, P < 0.0001). With regard to patient satisfaction, the pooled estimate concluded that participants' satisfaction with therapeutic effect between MRF and laser group was comparable (P = 0.26), whereas microneedling exhibited significant superiority than both laser (P = 0.04) and non-laser treatments (SMD: 0.95, 95% CI 0.52-1.38, P < 0.0001). Occurrence of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) was not obvious in microneedling therapy compared to other treatments, and a statistically difference was observed (P = 0.0003). Microneedling treatment caused significant pain compared with laser therapy (P < 0.00001). CONCLUSION: This systematic review and meta-analysis has provided initial evidence of the efficacy and safety of microneedling technology for SD. Striae distensae or stretch marks are a common complaint among women and can be distressing. The present study aimed to assess the efficacy of a mixture of low molecular weight hyaluronic acid and six amino acids when applied with a specific intradermal injection technique known as intra-mural fluid technique. A clinical study was carried out in 32 patients (with a dropout rate by 9.4%) with striae distensae alba (SA) in one or more of the following anatomical areas: breast, abdomen, inner thigh, trochanteric area, gluteal area, posterior supra-iliac area, and lumbar area. Product efficacy was assessed by the investigator using the Global Aesthetic Improvement Scale, while a Likert scale was used to evaluate to score the treatment tolerability and a QoL stretch marks questionnaire was used to investigate the patients' self-body image. The treatment was effective in improving the appearance of SA fifteen days after the second treatment and 6 months after the first treatment (and after a total of 4 treatments). The product efficacy and tolerability were also perceived by the patients during each treatment session. Our results suggest that the test treatment is a valid treatment option to decrease the appearance of SA. RESUMO

Radiofrequency microneedling (RFM) has recently become a popular choice for the treatment of various dermatologic conditions and rejuvenation. Many studies have sought to evaluate the efficacy of RFM. However, its role in the management of these conditions remains unclear. A comprehensive literature search including randomized controlled trials, cohort studies, and case series evaluating the efficacy of RFM in various skin conditions was performed. In this review, we discuss the history and mechanism of RFM, describe various device features, and discuss the use of RFM in various skin conditions and rejuvenation.

BACKGROUND: Striae gravidarum (SG) is a common pregnancy-related dermatologic problem, for which finding an effective treatment remains a challenge. AIM: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of 1540 nm non-ablative fractional laser (Star lux 500) in the treatment of SG in Iranian women and peruse the relationship between clinical improvement rate and patient characteristics as well as clinical features of striae. METHOD: A prospective before-after study was conducted on 50 patients with SG who received three monthly sessions of 1540 nm non-ablative fractional laser and were followed for 2 months after the last treatment session. Clinical changes were measured using both provider-rated outcome through before/after pictures represented by final clinical score (from 0 to 5) and patient-reported outcome (patient global assessment or PGA). RESULTS: Over the course of the study both final clinical score and PGA increased significantly from week 4 to week 20 (P value: <0.001 and 0.048, respectively). Only modest adverse effects including erythema, edema and hyperpigmentation were noted. CONCLUSION: In conclusion, patients with SG of different type (rubra/alba) or maturity may somehow benefit from treatment with NAFL experiencing minimal transient side effects.Therefore, NAFL may be considered a safe and partially effective treatment option for stretch mark of patients with SG.

The aim of this study is to compare needling (RF-needling, meso-needling, micro-needling) and ablative fractional lasers (CO2, erbium-YAG) in the treatment of atrophic and hypertrophic scars in a systematic review. The database was searched, and 10 articles were selected that were relevant in terms of content, topic, and purpose and met the inclusion criteria. Of all the articles reviewed in this study, there were 2 randomized split-face trials (20%), 1 controlled nonrandomized trial (10%), 1 controlled randomized phase III clinical trial (10%), 1 prospective trial (10%), 1 prospective nonrandomized open-label trial (10%), and 1 randomized comparative trial (10%), with the type of study not reported in 3 articles. We used Endnote X8 to review the articles and extract data. After review, the studies were analyzed and categorized. No statistically significant difference was found between the two methods, laser and micro-needling, in the treatment of atrophic and hypertrophic scars in 60% of the articles studied, and both showed significant improvement (70% or more improvement to complete response). Significant improvement was noted in 20% of the studies reviewed for the laser and micro-needling treatment methods. The results of this study show that needling and ablative fractional lasers are tolerable and safe procedures with no significant difference in the treatment of skin scars in sixty percent of the studies.

Background: A current popular aesthetic problem, especially among younger women, is striae distensae (SD), also referred to as "stretch marks.". Aim: The potential use of the 675 nm laser has been investigated in the treatment of SD. Methods: Patients underwent three sessions of the 675 nm laser with a 1-month interval between sessions. A total of three sessions were performed. The Manchester Scar Scale was used to assess stretch mark changes, and the mean scores related to each parameter at baseline and 6M FU after the last treatment session were measured. A clinical photographic evaluation was performed to show the aesthetic improvement of SD. Results: The patients' treated areas were the abdomen, thighs, buttocks, and breasts. Mean scores related to each Manchester Scar Scale parameter, with their relative percentage change, at baseline and 6M FU after the last treatment session were significantly improved. The total mean Manchester Scar Scale score significantly diminished from 14.16 (±1.30) to 10.06 (±1.32) at 6M FU (p < 0.01). The clinical photographs showed promising aesthetic SD improvement. Conclusions: 675 nm laser therapy demonstrated a good tolerance for the treatment of stretch marks applied to various body areas preventing any discomfort for the patient and with a significant improvement in skin texture.

PURPOSE: To investigate corneal densitometry and correlations with corneal morphological parameters in patients with bilateral keratoconus (KC) with unilateral Vogt's striae. METHODS: This prospective contralateral study enrolled 112 patients (224 eyes) with evident KC characteristics (corneal topography with asymmetric bow-tie pattern, inferior steepening), and at least one KC sign (conical protrusion of the cornea at the apex, corneal stromal thinning, Fleischer ring, Vogt's striae) on slit-lamp examination. Corneal densitometry and morphological parameters were measured using Pentacam HR. RESULTS: The mean age was 23.93 ± 6.81 years. Fifty-two (23.22%), 111 (49.55%), and 61 (27.23%) eyes were in mild, moderate, and severe groups, respectively. Corneal densitometry values of the anterior 0-2 mm and 2-6 mm, intermediate 0-2 mm and 2-6 mm, posterior 2-6 mm, and total cornea 2-6 mm were significantly higher in eyes with Vogt's striae (P < 0.05), whereas those of the anterior 6-10 mm, posterior 0-2 mm, and total cornea 6-10 mm were significantly lower in eyes with Vogt's striae (P < 0.05). Anterior 0-2 mm and total cornea 2-6 mm corneal densitometry values were positively correlated with anterior K1 (A-K1), K2 (A-K2), Km (A-Km), Kmax (A-Kmax), anterior corneal elevation, and posterior corneal elevation (P < 0.05), and negatively correlated with central corneal thickness and thinnest corneal thickness in eyes with Vogt's striae (P < 0.05). A-K2, A-Km, and A-Kmax were significantly correlated with the densitometry values of the anterior 0-2 mm and intermediate 0-2 mm in eyes without Vogt's striae (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Vogt's striae mainly occur on the anterior and intermediate layers during KC progression.

Although the long-term use of topical glucocorticoids (TGC) may induce skin atrophy including striae distensae (SD), patients with atopic dermatitis (AD) appear to have lesser degree of skin atrophy than those with psoriasis (PSO). Periostin, encoded by POSTN, is involved in tissue remodelling processes of chronic AD lesions. This study was designed to investigate the difference in the occurrence of skin atrophy in patients with AD or PSO when treated with TGC and to elucidate the association between skin atrophy and periostin. Big data analysis using Korean Health Claims Database was performed to determine the prevalence of SD in AD and PSO patients. Blood and skin eosinophils count and dermal fibrosis between AD and PSO patients were compared, and immunohistochemistry for periostin and mRNA sequencing in the dermis were performed. Animal experiments using AD and PSO murine model were conducted. Big data analysis revealed that patients with AD have significantly lesser degree of SD than patients with PSO. The ratio of the dermal fibrous tissues and eosinophil counts were significantly higher in AD patients. In AD skin, periostin was more widely distributed in the entire dermis and POSTN mRNAs were significantly upregulated. Dermal thickness and fibrosis were significantly higher in AD mice even after TGC treatment. A significant positive correlation was observed between dermal fibrosis and tissue eosinophil counts. Lesser skin atrophy in AD patients even after long-term TGC application could be resulted from skin fibrosis caused by increased tissue eosinophils and periostin deposition.

Striae distensae (SD) are disfiguring skin condition causing cosmetic troubles and psychological distress. The aim was to compare the efficacy and safety of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) versus its combination with subcision or medium-depth peeling (glycolic acid 70% followed by trichloroacetic acid [TCA] 35%) for SD treatment. Seventy-five female patients with SD were divided into three equal groups with the contralateral side in each patients represented the control group. Group A treated with PRP, group B received PRP + subcision while group C received PRP + combined peeling (GA 70% + TCA 35%). Primary outcome included clinical improvement, patients' satisfaction, and Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI). Striae measurement, skin biopsies were also assessed. Very much improvement was achieved in 28%, 44%, and 36% in groups A, B, and C respectively. The combined groups (B and C) showed significantly higher patients' satisfaction and DLQI than group A (p = 0.03), (p < 0.0001). A significant decrease in all striae measurements was achieved with all groups (p < 0.001); however, groups B and C showed more decrease (p = 0.2 and 0.4). A highly significant decrease in the mean number of sessions was found in group B (p < 0.0001). All groups demonstrated improvement in dermal collagen deposition, which was higher in the combined groups. Side effects were mild and well tolerated. The combination of PRP with subcision or peeling was more effective and offered a higher therapeutic response than PRP alone. Moreover, the subcision has superior efficacy in striae albae and safer in darker skin types.

Striae Distensae (SD) are quite common complaint in dermatology practice. They are linear lesions of variable length and width according to the site and the causative condition. Several treatment modalities have been tried. To achieve satisfactory results, a combination therapy is often needed. To evaluate the efficacy and safety of fractional CO2 laser versus carboxytherapy in the treatment of Striae Distensae clinically and radiologically. Thirty Egyptian patients with striae distensae, received a split body therapy: the left side was treated by fractional CO2 laser and the right side was treated by carboxytherapy in the same session. Six sessions were done with 4 weeks apart. Clinical evaluation by measurement of the width of widest striae on both sides, global aesthetic improvement scale (GAIS), and Likert satisfaction scale. Radiological evaluation by measurement of cutaneous thickness of widest striae on both sides by ultrasonography. There was a highly statistically significant decrease in the median width of the widest striae distensae on both sides after the last session (P < 0.01). Regarding GAIS, satisfaction scale and ultrasound, there was highly statistically significant improvement on laser side than carboxytherapy side (P < 0.01) after last session. Both fractional CO2 laser and carboxytherapy may be considered as safe and effective lines of treatment for striae distensae, but fractional CO2 laser showed excellent improvement clinically, radiologically when compared with carboxytherapy which made it a promising module in treatment of striae distensae.

Striae distensae (SD) are common skin conditions that have posed a significant challenge regarding their assessment and treatment. The present study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of microneedling in comparison to fractional CO2 laser therapy. Similar striae were selected and photographed. Each side was randomly assigned to be treated with CO2 fractional laser or microneedling four times at monthly intervals and followed up for 10 months. Outcome measures including the length and width of the largest striae, dermatologist assessed improvement, patients' satisfaction, and visual analog scale (VAS) were assessed. Wilcoxon signed-rank test and Mann-Whitney U test were used to assess the efficacy of treatments. Forty patients with a mean age of 28.1 years were included. The median cross-section of the largest striae decreased significantly in both groups (P-value <0.001), without statistically significant differences between the two groups before and 6 months after treatment. VAS also improved significantly in both groups, and there were no statistically significant differences between the two treatments in all visits. No clinically significant adverse effects were observed. Fractional CO2 laser and microneedling are both efficient treatments to resolve SD. A new light should be shed on the microneedling modality as it is more economical than the other treatment options.

INTRODUCTION AND HYPOTHESIS: Striae gravidarum are linear atrophic scars appearing on the abdomen of pregnant women reported to be related to pregnancy-induced changes in the connective tissue. Pelvic floor distress symptoms are also known to be linked to connective tissue weakness. Given that common pathophysiological pathways may play a role in both striae gravidarum and pelvic floor dysfunction symptoms, we sought to examine whether there is a correlation between them during pregnancy. METHODS: A prospective observational study among third-trimester pregnant women who visited a tertiary medical center for routine pregnancy follow-up was conducted by using the Pelvic Floor Distress Inventory (PFDI-20) questionnaire to evaluate pelvic floor distress symptoms and the Davey method for evaluating striae gravidarum severity. Obstetrical characteristics as well as pelvic floor distress symptoms were compared between two groups according to the severity of striae gravidarum. Univariate analysis was carried out using appropriate tests; PFDI scores were compared between the groups using the Mann-Whitney test. RESULTS: Women with striae gravidarum were significantly older (31.06 vs. 28.83 years, p < 0.01), had a lower body mass index (27.5 vs. 30.98, p < 0.01), and gave birth to smaller neonates (3155 vs. 3389 g, p < 0.01). In addition, the overall and median PFDI-20 scores differed between the groups (with severe SG having the highest median score of 20 and those with milder SG having a score of 16 compared to 14 in those without SG). A distinct association between the PFDI-20 score and SG severity was not demonstrated (p = 0.63). CONCLUSIONS: In our population, an association was demonstrated between pelvic floor distress symptoms and the presence of striae gravidarum. However, following a linear regression model, no statistically significant association between SG severity and total PFD-20 score was seen. Our findings strengthen the hypothesis of common connective tissue involvement in the pathophysiology of both conditions.

BACKGROUND: Striae distensae are atrophic dermal scars that can cause psychosocial distress among affected patients. Despite numerous available therapeutic modalities, no gold standard treatment has been established. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the long-term efficacy and safety of a fractional 1064-nm picosecond laser for the treatment of striae alba in individuals with dark skin types. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Twenty volunteers with Fitzpatrick skin types IV-V who presented with striae alba were enrolled. Subjects were treated with a fractional 1064-nm picosecond laser for four sessions at 4-week intervals. The skin texture, average melanin index (MI), and melanin variation score were assessed using Antera 3D® before treatment, at 1 month after the second treatment, and at 1, 3, and 6 months after the last treatment. Two independent investigators evaluated clinical improvement by comparing pretreatment and posttreatment photographs. The patient satisfaction rates were likewise assessed. Adverse effects were recorded during the entire study period. RESULTS: Significant improvement of skin texture was seen at 1 month after the final treatment (p < 0.001) and continuously improved until the 6-month follow-up visit (p = 0.003). The average MI significantly increased at 1 month after the final treatment (p < 0.001), whereas the melanin variation score decreased throughout the follow-up period. Investigator assessment at the 6-month follow-up revealed that 90% of subjects had moderate to marked improvement of striae appearance. Only two of 20 subjects (10%) developed transient postinflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) after laser treatment. CONCLUSION: Fractional picosecond 1064-nm laser is effective and well-tolerated for the treatment of striae alba in dark-skinned individuals with a low incidence of PIH.

BACKGROUND: Cutaneous changes in obese adults have been investigated in numerous studies, but this issue has not been adequately investigated in children. OBJECTIVES: We aimed to determine the prevalence of skin manifestations in children with obesity by comparing them to normal-weight children. METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted between June 2017 and January 2019 in which 82 children with obesity and 86 normal-weight healthy control children were enrolled. Study participants had detailed full-body skin examinations performed by the same dermatologist; mycological and Wood's lamp examinations were performed when necessary. Sociodemographic and anthropometric measurements of the participants were recorded. RESULTS: Striae distensae were the most common skin manifestation in children with obesity; striae were significantly higher in the obese than in the control group (72% vs. 26.7%, p < .001). The anatomical distribution of the striae distensae in the groups differed significantly. Striae distensae were most commonly observed on the buttocks in the control group, while the thighs were the most common site in the obese group. Acanthosis nigricans (63.4% vs. 3.5%, p < .001), acrochordons (17.1% vs. 1.2%, p < .001), keratosis pilaris (32.9% vs. 17.4%, p = .021), intertrigo (11% vs. 0%, p = .001), folliculitis (31.7% vs. 5.8%, p < .001), seborrheic dermatitis (12.2% vs. 3.5%, p = .035) and facial erythema (7.3% vs. 0%, p = .012) were found to be statistically significantly more common in the obese group compared to the control group. CONCLUSIONS: Obesity in children is associated with numerous cutaneous manifestations. Further study is needed to identify whether weight loss can reduce skin manifestations in obese children.

Authors present a study about the contraction forces observed in striae distensae fibroblasts (SMF) in a collagen scaffold. Collagen lattices were used to study the mechanical behavior of SDF within the collagen matrix compared to the lattices produced using the healthy skin derived fibroblasts (NSF). A Forcebox device was used to measure the contractile forces. Striae Rubrae fibroblast's contractile force was by 28% greater than that generated by the NSF and striae albae fibroblasts (P<0.05). Anomalies and especially differences in forces generated by SMF were observed through all our experiments. These findings complete and corroborate the results and information published in our previous studies. Chondroitin obtained through biotechnological processes (BC) shares similarities with both chondroitin sulfate (CS), due to the dimeric repetitive unit, and hyaluronic acid (HA), as it is unsulfated. In the framework of this experimental research, formulations containing BC with an average molecular size of about 35 KDa and high molecular weight HA (HHA) were characterized with respect to their rheological behavior, stability to enzymatic hydrolysis and they were evaluated in different skin damage models. The rheological characterization of the HHA/BC formulation revealed a G' of 92 ± 3 Pa and a G″ of 116 ± 5 Pa and supported an easy injectability even at a concentration of 40 mg/mL. HA/BC preserved the HHA fraction better than HHA alone. BTH was active on BC alone only at high concentration. Assays on scratched keratinocytes (HaCaT) monolayers showed that all the glycosaminoglycan formulations accelerated cell migration, with HA/BC fastening healing 2-fold compared to the control. In addition, in 2D HaCaT cultures, as well as in a 3D skin tissue model HHA/BC efficiently modulated mRNA and protein levels of different types of collagens and elastin remarking a functional tissue physiology. Finally, immortalized human fibroblasts were challenged with TNF-α to obtain an in vitro model of inflammation. Upon HHA/BC addition, secreted IL-6 level was lower and efficient ECM biosynthesis was re-established. Finally, co-cultures of HaCaT and melanocytes were established, showing the ability of HHA/BC to modulate melanin release, suggesting a possible effect of this specific formulation on the reduction of stretch marks. Overall, besides demonstrating the safety of BC, the present study highlights the potential beneficial effect of HHA/BC formulation in different damage dermal models.
