RESUMO
In preceding research endeavors, the frequency characteristics of a ring resonator on surface acoustic waves made of various materials were studied. Investigations encompassed fixation techniques within the housing, the impact of external variables on these components, and the most efficient configuration of the interdigital transducer within the ring resonator to curtail bandwidth. This current study is dedicated to investigating the correlation between sensitivity and the highest measurable acceleration concerning the dimensions of these sensitive elements. Furthermore, it involves assessing the attributes of produced experimental samples to verify the simulation results. The results obtained represent the possibility of creating a micromechanical accelerometer that can be used in the automotive industry as a g-sensor shock, as well as in industries where the numerical value of high overloads is required.
RESUMO
The present paper discusses the scientific and technical problem of optimizing the design and characteristics of a new type of solid-state sensors for motion parameters on bulk acoustic waves in order to increase the signal-to-noise ratio and the detectability of an informative signal against the background of its own noise and interference. Criteria for choosing materials for structural elements, including piezoelectric transducers of the sensitive element, were identified; a corresponding numerical simulation was performed using the developed program; and experimental studies according to the suggested method were carried out to validate the obtained analytical and calculated positions. The experimental results revealed the correctness of the chosen criteria for the optimization of design parameters and characteristics, demonstrated the high correlation between the results of modeling and field studies, and, thus, confirmed the prospects of using this new type of solid-state acoustic sensors of motion parameters in the navigation and control systems of highly dynamic objects.

A random fiber laser does not need a traditional resonant cavity and only uses the multiple scattering of disordered media to provide feedback to achieve laser output. Therefore, it has the advantages of a simple structure, narrow linewidth, and low noise and is particularly suitable for fiber optic sensors. This paper provides an introduction to the categories and corresponding principles of random fiber lasers. The research progress of random fiber lasers in the sensing field in recent years, including various aspects of random fiber lasers as low-noise light sources or sensitive elements for fiber sensing systems, is the main focus. Finally, the future development trend of random fiber lasers for optical fiber sensors is explored.

We study the effects of medium rotation on bulk acoustic wave (BAW) propagation. For a theoretical analysis of the BAW propagation characteristics, a motion equation for the plane harmonic waves propagating orthogonal to the rotation axis of the propagation medium was analytically resolved. We found that during medium rotation, the polarization of the waves becomes elliptical with the ratio of the polarization ellipse axes explicitly proportional to the angular velocity of the medium rotation, thereby opening the way for the design of sensitive elements (SE) for perspective angular motion sensors (AMS). Next, an analytical dependence of the SE informative parameter on the Poisson's ratio of the acoustic duct material was obtained. The rotation effect on the dispersion of BAW propagation velocity was studied. Two approaches to the perspective SE design were proposed. An experimental study of a specially designed test assembly and SE model demonstrated high correlation with theoretical predictions and provided an estimate of a potential SE. Therefore, we believe that the study of acoustic wave propagation under nonclassical conditions is a promising direction for prospective solid-state AMS on based on BAW polarization effects design.
RESUMO
In this paper, the perspectives of using the features of acoustic wave propagation to design rotation rate sensors (RRS) are discussed. The possibility of developing the solid-state sensitive elements (SE) of RRS on acoustic waves of circular polarization is shown. The theoretical basis of bulk acoustic wave propagation under rotation is given. The direct excitation of circularly polarized acoustic wave (CPAW) is considered, the design of the CPAW emitting transducer is offered. The results of experimental studies that indicated the circular nature of the particle motions in the radiated wave are discussed. The principally new concept of the RRS SE design on CPAW, being able to operate under high vibration and acceleration, is proposed. The experimental results revealed a high correlation with theoretical and numerical predictions and confirmed RRS on CPAW operability.
RESUMO
Amorphous and nanocrystalline soft magnetic materials have attracted much attention in the area of sensor applications. In this work, the magnetoimpedance (MI) effect of patterned soft ferromagnetic meander-shaped sensor elements has been investigated. They were fabricated starting from the cobalt-based amorphous ribbon using the lithography technique and chemical etching. Three-turn (S1: spacing s = 50 µm, width w = 300 µm, length l = 5 mm; S2: spacing s = 50 µm, width w = 400 µm, length l = 5 mm) and six-turn (S3: s = 40 µm, w = 250 µm, length l = 5 mm; S4: s = 40 µm, w = 250 µm and l = 8 mm) meanders were designed. The 'n' shaped meander part was denominated as "one turn". The S4 meander possesses a maximum MI ratio calculated for the total impedance ΔZ/Z ≈ 250% with a sensitivity of about 36%/Oe (for the frequency of about 45 MHz), and an MI ratio calculated for the real part of the total impedance ΔR/R ≈ 250% with the sensitivity of about 32%/Oe (for the frequency of 50 MHz). Chemical etching and the length of the samples had a strong impact on the surface magnetic properties and the magnetoimpedance. A comparative analysis of the surface magnetic properties obtained by the magneto-optical Kerr technique and MI data shows that the designed ferromagnetic meander-shaped sensor elements can be recommended for high frequency sensor applications focused on the large drop analysis. Here we understand a single large drop as the water-based sample to analyze, placed onto the surface of the MI sensor element either by microsyringe (volue range 0.5-500 µL) or automatic dispenser (volume range 0.1-50 mL).

Pyroelectric materials, with piezoelectricity and pyroelectricity, have been widely used in infrared thermal detectors. In this paper, a modified first-order plate theory is extended to analyze a pyroelectric sensitive element structure. The displacement, temperature, and electric potential expand along the thickness direction. The governing equation of the pyroelectric plate is built up. The potential distributions with upper and lower electrodes are obtained under different supported boundary conditions. The corresponding numerical results of electric potential are consistent with those obtained by the three-dimensional finite element method. Meanwhile, the theoretical results of electric potential are close to that of experiments. The influence of supported boundary conditions, piezoelectric effect, and plate thickness are analyzed. Numerical results show that the piezoelectric effect reduces the electric potential. The thickness of the pyroelectric plate enhances the electric potential but reduces the response speed of the detector. It is anticipated that the pyroelectric plate theory can provide a theoretical approach for the structural design of pyroelectric sensitive elements.
RESUMO
Flexible paper-based force sensors have garnered significant attention for their important potential applications in healthcare wearables, portable electronics, etc. However, most studies have only used paper as the flexible substrate for sensors, not fully exploiting the potential of paper's micro-nanostructure for sensing. This article proposes a novel approach where paper serves both as the sensitive element and the flexible substrate of force sensors. Under external mechanical forces, the micro-nanostructure of the conductive-treated paper will change, leading to significant changes in the related electrical output and thus enabling sensing. To demonstrate the feasibility and universality of this new method, the article takes paper-based capacitive pressure sensors and paper-based resistive strain sensors as examples, detailing their fabrication processes, constructing sensing principle models based on the micro-nanostructure of paper materials, and testing their main sensing performance. For the capacitive paper-based pressure sensor, it achieves a high sensitivity of 1.623 kPa-1, a fast response time of 240 ms, and a minimum pressure resolution of 4.1 Pa. As for the resistive paper-based strain sensor, it achieves a high sensitivity of 72 and a fast response time of 300 ms. The proposed new method offers advantages such as high sensitivity, simplicity in the fabrication process, environmental friendliness, and cost-effectiveness, providing new insights into the research of flexible force sensors.

In this article, based on the developed methodology, the stages of designing the sensitive element of a microelectromechanical gyroscope with an open-loop structure are considered. This structure is intended for use in control units for mobile objects such as robots, mobile trolleys, etc. To quickly obtain a ready-made gyroscope, a specialized integrated circuit (SW6111) was selected, for the use of which the electronic part of the sensitive element of the microelectromechanical gyroscope was developed. The mechanical structure was also taken from a simple design. The simulation of the mathematical model was carried out in the MATLAB/Simulink software environment. The mechanical elements and the entire structure were calculated using finite element modeling with ANSYS MultiPhysics CAD tools. The developed sensitive element of the micromechanical gyroscope was manufactured using bulk micromachining technology-silicon-on-insulator-with a structural layer thickness equal to 50 µm. Experimental studies were carried out using a scanning electron microscope and a contact profilometer. Dynamic characteristics were measured using a Polytec MSA-500 microsystem analyzer. The manufactured structure has low topological deviations. Calculations and experiments showed fairly accurate results for the dynamic characteristics, with an error of less than 3% for the first iteration of the design.
RESUMO
Although As concentrations have been investigated in shallow groundwater from the Hetao basin, China, less is known about U and As distributions in deep groundwater, which would help to better understand their origins and fate controls. Two hundred and ninety-nine groundwater samples, 122 sediment samples, and 14 rock samples were taken from the northwest portion of the Hetao basin, and analyzed for geochemical parameters. Results showed contrasting distributions of groundwater U and As, with high U and low As concentrations in the alluvial fans along the basin margins, and low U and high As concentrations downgradient in the flat plain. The probable sources of both As and U in groundwater were ultimately traced to the bedrocks in the local mountains (the Langshan Mountains). Chemical weathering of U-bearing rocks (schist, phyllite, and carbonate veins) released and mobilized U as UO2(CO3)2(2-) and UO2(CO3)3(4-) species in the alluvial fans under oxic conditions and suboxic conditions where reductions of Mn and NO3(-) were favorable (OSO), resulting in high groundwater U concentrations. Conversely, the recent weathering of As-bearing rocks (schist, phyllite, and sulfides) led to the formation of As-bearing Fe(III) (hydr)oxides in sediments, resulting in low groundwater As concentrations. Arsenic mobilization and U immobilization occurred in suboxic conditions where reduction of Fe(III) oxides was favorable and reducing conditions (SOR). Reduction of As-bearing Fe(III) (hydr)oxides, which were formed during palaeo-weathering and transported and deposited as Quaternary aquifer sediments, was believed to release As into groundwater. Reduction of U(VI) to U(IV) would lead to the formation of uraninite, and therefore remove U from groundwater. We conclude that the contrasting distributions of groundwater As and U present a challenge to ensuring safe drinking water in analogous areas, especially with high background values of U and As.
RESUMO
Organic and inorganic sedimentary parameters in and off the Changjiang Estuary have been analyzed to reconstruct historical trends in eutrophication and hypoxia over the last century. The lipid biomarker concentrations in the Changjiang Estuary mud area (CEMA) indicated eutrophication accelerated after the 1970s. Meanwhile, Mo/Al indicated hypoxia has increased since 1960s. Eutrophication and hypoxia in the CEMA are primarily a result of the dramatically increased load of terrestrial nutrients from the Changjiang to the East China Sea. The lipid biomarker concentrations in the southwest Cheju Island mud area (SCIMA) showed primary production is controlled mainly by changes in regional climate and marine current. No significant hypoxia occurred in the SCIMA over the past century as indicated by Mo/Al. Therefore, geochemical indicators of eutrophication and hypoxia revealed different patterns between the CEMA and SCIMA, suggesting the role of river-derived nutrients in sustaining eutrophication and hypoxia in the CEMA since the 1960s.
