RESUMO
The results of an open, non-comparative study with 25 evaluable patients with upper respiratory tract infections (URTI) are reported. Studied subjects received asithromycin 500 mg, once daily for three days. Clinical assessment shorwed that 96% of cases achieved cure. One patient (4%) was withdrawn from the study due to alergy. Other two patient reported side effects as mild alergy and epigastric pain, but both completed therapy. The results of this study indicates that azithromycin is useful as a shortcourse therapy once daily and well tolerated. Authors concludes that azithromycin appears to be one of the antibiotics of choice for the treatment of URTI
