ABSTRACT
Invited for this month's cover is the group of Prof. Ferenc Fülöp (University of Szeged, Hungary). The cover picture shows an aerial view of the Bicaz Gorge (Transylvania) with a set of twisty hairpin turns symbolizing the challenges of selective hydrogenation of the flavonoid B-ring. The synthetic method presented can help suppress the toxic bioactivity properties of protoflavonoids thereby opening new avenues in the pharmacological investigation of these unique natural products and their synthetic analogs.
