ABSTRACT
The coronavirus disease 2019⯠pandemicâ¯hasâ¯created not only â¯widespread â¯morbidity and mortality,â¯but a myriad of social, financial, and psychological stressors.â¯In thisâ¯setting,â¯the medical community has seen aâ¯substantialâ¯increase in theâ¯incidences â¯ofâ¯cardiac morbidity and mortality, and, therefore, â¯anesthesiologists should expect a higher incidence in the perioperative period. In this E-Challenge, the authors present a patient in whom anâ¯acute cardiac decompensationâ¯occurred secondary toâ¯an unanticipated difficult intubation, with an unexpected echocardiographic finding.
