Cephalosporins were first discovered in 1945 and the first of them became commercially available almost thirty years ago. However they have undergone continual development, with the result that there are now numerous agents within this group with widely differing characteristics. In practice, it is unnecessary to be familiar with all cephalosporins, since many of them are equivalent in activity. This short reviewwill concentrate on those cephalosporins which are widely available in the Caribbean. (Summary)
