RESUMEN

Using the PRISMA guideline, 102 studies were included in this study. The highest and the lowest proportion of N. meningitidis serogroups in invasive meningococcal disease (IMD) was for NmB with 48.5% (95% CI: 45-52) and NmX with 0.7% (95% CI: 0.3-1.7). Among the WHO regional offices, serogroup NmW with 57.5% (95% CI: 35-77.5) in Eastern Mediterranean, and NmZ with 0.1% (95% CI: 0-0.9) in America had the highest and the lowest proportion of N. meningitidis serogroups in IMD. NmC with 9.7% (95% CI: 5.6-16.2) and NmB with 9.5% (95% CI: 0.2-3.8) had the highest proportion in 1-4 and <1 year age groups, respectively. Our analysis showed that NmB had the highest proportion of N. meningitidis serogroups in IMD worldwide. However, proportion of N. meningitidis serogroups in IMD varied noticeably across countries and age groups. Therefore, establishing appropriate control guidelines depending on the geographical regions and age groups is essential for prevention of IMD.

RESUMEN

Cancer is a main public health problem that is known as a malignant tumor and out-of-control cell growth, with the potential to assault or spread to other parts of the body. Recently, remarkable efforts have been devoted to develop nanotechnology to improve the delivery of anticancer drug to tumor tissue as minimizing its distribution and toxicity in healthy tissue. Nanotechnology has been extensively used in the advance of new strategies for drug delivery and cancer therapy. Compared to customary drug delivery systems, nano-based drug delivery method has greater potential in different areas, like multiple targeting functionalization, in vivo imaging, extended circulation time, systemic control release, and combined drug delivery. Nanofibers are used for different medical applications such as drug delivery systems.

RESUMEN

The antimicrobial property of silver is associated to the quantity of silver and the grade of silver released. The ionized silver is extremely sensitive, as it binds to tissue proteins and gets operational alterations in the bacterial cell wall and nuclear membrane leading to cell modification and death.Silver nanoparticles have the talent to anchor to the bacterial cell wall and consequently infiltrate it, so causing physical modifications in the cell membrane like the absorptivity of the cell membrane and death of the cell. There are numerous concepts on the act of silver nanoparticle on bacteria to reason the microbicidal influence.

RESUMEN

Diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer have been characterized with a variety of challenges. However, with the advancement in magnetic nanoparticle (MNP) technology, many challenges in the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer are on the decline. The MNPs have led to many break-through in cancer therapy. This paper seeks to establish the role of MNPs in diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer. It proposes that the existing challenges in the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer can be addressed through application of MNPs in the process.

RESUMEN

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are multipotent stromal cells that exist in bone marrow, fat, and so many other tissues, and can differentiate into a variety of cell types including osteoblasts, chondrocytes, and adipocytes, as well as myocytes and neurons. Moreover, they have great capacity for self-renewal while maintaining their multipotency. Their capacity for proliferation and differentiation, in addition to their immunomodulatory activity, makes them very promising candidates for cell-based regenerative medicine. Moreover, MSCs have the ability of mobilization to the site of damage; therefore, they can automatically migrate to the site of injury via their chemokine receptors following intravenous transplantation. In this respect, they can be applied for MSC-based gene therapy. In this new therapeutic method, genes of interest are introduced into MSCs via viral and non-viral-based methods that lead to transgene expression in them. Although stem cell-based gene therapy is a relatively new strategy, it lights a new hope for the treatment of a variety of genetic disorders. In the near future, MSCs can be of use in a vast number of clinical applications, because of their uncomplicated isolation, culture, and genetic manipulation. However, full consideration is still crucial before they are utilized for clinical trials, because the number of studies that signify the advantageous effects of MSC-based gene therapy are still limited.
