PURPOSE: This study aims to review the literature to explore some factors affecting sexual and partnership adjustment in individuals with spinal cord injury (SCI). METHODS: This study was based on the methodological framework of scoping reviews, including 3 methodological steps: (1) identifying relevant studies (searching for related studies); (2) selecting related studies; (3) collecting key findings, summarizing, and reporting the results. The electronic databases were searched including Medline (PubMed), Scopus, Web of Science, Embase, and Cochrane Library. Studies were included if they reported data about the related factors of sexual and partnership adjustment in individuals with SCI. No limitations were considered in terms of time or methodology of the search. RESULTS: After the full-text screening, 52 studies were included from the year of 1978 - 2019 with various methodologies. The present review demonstrated that proper sexual health among individuals with SCI is related to several factors including the anatomical factor, level of the injury, completeness of the injury, psycho-social factor, socio-economic status, and type of relationship. CONCLUSION: With consideration of factors affecting sexual and partnership adjustment in individuals with SCI, a better estimation of sexual health can be achieved in clinical to improve the relationship and quality of life.

BACKGROUND: Road traffic injuries (RTI) are one of the most prominent causes of morbidity and mortality, especially among children and young adults. Motorcycle crashes constitute a significant part of RTIs. Policymakers believe that safety helmets are the single most important protection against motorcycle-related injuries. However, motorcyclists are not wearing helmets at desirable rates. This study systematically investigated factors that are positively associated with helmet usage among two-wheeled motorcycle riders. METHODS: We performed a systematic search on PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Embase, and Cochrane library with relevant keywords. No language, date of publication, or methodological restrictions were applied. All the articles that had evaluated the factors associated with helmet-wearing behavior and were published before December 31, 2021, were included in our study and underwent data extraction. We assessed the quality of the included articles using the Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology (STROBE) checklist for observational studies. RESULTS: A total of 50 articles were included. Most evidence suggests that helmet usage is more common among drivers (compared to passengers), women, middle-aged adults, those with higher educations, married individuals, license holders, and helmet owners. Moreover, the helmet usage rate is higher on highways and central city roads and during mornings and weekdays. Travelers of longer distances, more frequent users, and riders of motorcycles with larger engines use safety helmets more commonly. Non-helmet-using drivers seem to have acceptable awareness of mandatory helmet laws and knowledge about their protective role against head injuries. Importantly, complaint about helmet discomfort is somehow common among helmet-using drivers. CONCLUSIONS: To enhance helmet usage, policymakers should emphasize the vulnerability of passengers and children to RTIs, and that fatal crashes occur on low-capacity roads and during cruising at low speeds. Monitoring by police should expand to late hours of the day, weekends, and lower capacity and less-trafficked roads. Aiming to enhance the acceptance of other law-abiding behaviors (e.g., wearing seat belts, riding within the speed limits, etc.), especially among youth and young adults, will enhance the prevalence of helmet-wearing behavior among motorcycle riders. Interventions should put their focus on improving the attitudes of riders regarding safety helmets, as there is acceptable knowledge of their benefits.

Background: Gamification is the process of game thinking and game mechanics to attract learners and solve problems. It is a unique growing phenomenon in education and training programs. Educational games, by application of game design and game elements in learning environments, motivate students to learn and improve the teaching and learning process. Herein, this scoping review presents an overview of the theoretical underpinnings of gamification that is crucial in understanding the theoretical pillar of successful educational games. Methods: This scoping review follows Arksey and O'Malley's stages of scoping review. In this review, the gamification in medical education articles that implicitly or explicitly presented underpinning learning theories of gamification in medical education was retrieved. So, keywords such as gamification, learning theories, higher education, and medical education were searched in Scopus, PubMed, WEB OF SCIENCE, EMBASE, ERIC, and Cochrane Library from 1998 to March 2019. Results: The search indicated 5416 articles which were narrowed down by title and abstract relatedness. 464 articles entered the second phase of the study and after reviewing their full text, finally, 10 articles which were explicitly and implicitly reported the underpinning learning theories remained. Conclusion: Gamification is a strategy using game design techniques for non-game experiences for more effective learning and provides a more attractive environment for teaching and learning. Designing gamification based on learning theories (behavioral, cognitive, and constructivist), makes them more efficient, and the application of learning theories in designing gamification is recommended.

INTRODUCTION: During Covid-19 pandemic, people have been reluctant to visit dentist due to the fear of infection. Dentists have also suffered from severe turmoil. Teledentistry has been considered as a key strategy for managing people's oral health. The aim of this study was to investigate teledentistry services in the world during the Covid-19 pandemic and to learn from different experiences. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The Web of Science database was searched by scientometric analysis approach, using keywords such as Covid-19, telemedicine, teledentistry and synonymous keywords derived from MeSH. Consequently, 94 articles were extracted from which, 15 articles related to teledentistry during Covid-19 were included in the study, considering the inclusion and exclusion criteria. RESULTS: Scientometric analysis and illustration of retrieved articles were performed to identify authors, organizations and countries, and to review cooperation and collaboration networks in this field. Teledentistry was studied during Covid-19 in countries such as China, United States, Japan, Italy and United Kingdom. Types of the software used for communication between dentists and patients were WeChat, BigWord telephone translator, iGAM, WhatsApp, Attend Anywhere (AA), DeRS. The software used for data storage were Mouthwatch TeleDent, and Proforma. For data processing and decision making decision tree algorithms, automated algorithms were employed. CONCLUSION: Teledentistry has the potential to improve the provision of dental services. A fundamental review and careful planning is required to provide such services, particularly in developing countries. Furthermore teledentistry needs more in-depth studies in order to overcome existing and future obstacles and risks while taking advantage of its benefits.

Current in vitro models have played important roles in improving knowledge and understanding of cellular and molecular biology, but cannot exactly recapitulate the physiology of human tissues such as thyroid. In this article, we conducted a systematic review to present scientific and methodological time-trends of the reconstruction and generation of 3 D functional thyroid follicles and organoids for thyroid research in health and disease. "Web of Science (ISI)", "Scopus", "Embase", "Cochrane Library", and "PubMed" were systematically searched for papers published since 1950 to May 2020 in English language, using the predefined keywords. 212 articles were reviewed and finally 28 papers that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were selected. Among the evidence for the examination of 3 D cell culture methods in thyroid research, there were only a few studies related to the organoid technology and its potential applications in understanding morphological, histological, and physiological characteristics of the thyroid gland and reconstructing this tissue. Besides, there was no study using organoids to investigate the tumorigenesis process of thyroid. Based on the results of this study, despite all the limitations and controversies, the exciting and promising organoid technology offers researchers a wide range of potential applications for more accurate modeling of thyroid in health and diseases and provides an excellent preclinical in vitro platform. In future, organoid technology can provide a better understanding of the molecular mechanisms of pathogenesis and tumorigenesis of thyroid tissue and more effective treatment for related disorders due to more accurate simulation of the thyroid physiology.

PURPOSE: Macrophages play an important role in mediating damage after Spinal cord injury (SCI) by secreting macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MMIF) as a secondary injury mediator. We aimed to systematically review the role of MMIF as a therapeutic target after traumatic SCI. METHODS: Our systematic review has been performed according to the PRISMA 2009 Checklist. A systematic search in the scientific databases was carried out for studies published before 20 February 2019 from major databases. Two researchers independently screened titles. The risk of bias of eligible articles was assessed, and data were extracted. Finally, we systematically analyzed and interpreted related data. RESULTS: 785 papers were selected for the title and abstract screening. 12 papers were included for data extraction. Eight animal studies were of high quality and the remaining two were of medium quality. One of the two human studies was of poor quality and the other was of fair quality. MMIF as a pro-inflammatory mediator can cause increased susceptibility to glutamate-related neurotoxicity, increased nitrite production, increased ERK activation, and increased COX2/PGE2 signaling pathway activation and subsequent stimulation of CCL5-related chemotaxis. Two human studies and six animal studies demonstrated that MMIF level increases after SCI. MMIF inhibition might be a potential therapeutic target in SCI by multiple different mechanisms (6/12 studies). CONCLUSION: Most animal studies demonstrate significant neurologic improvement after administration of MMIF inhibitors, but these inhibitors have not been studied in humans yet. Further clinical trials are need to further understand MMIF inhibitor utility in acute or chronic SCI. Background: To identify and synthesize available published studies on the effect of local muscle vibration (LMV) on pain, stiffness, and function in individuals with knee OA. Methods: Five databases were searched to find relevant papers on April 29, 2020, including, PubMed, Scopus, EMBASE (Ovid), Science Citation Index, and COCHRANE Central Register for Controlled Trials (CENTRAL). Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and nonrandomized-controlled-trials (non-RCTs), such as interrupted time series and prospective cohort studies were included. Two independent reviewers screened articles and assessed inclusion through predefined criteria. Participants' characteristics, study design, intervention characteristics, outcomes, and main results were collected independently by 2 reviewers. The risk of bias assessment of included studies was conducted using Cochrane risk of bias tools for RCTs and non-RCTs. Results: Six studies were included: 3 RCTs and 3 non-RCTs. The risk of bias in included studies was generally moderate to high. Improvement of pain, stiffness, and function following the application of LMV were reported in all studies. Conclusion: This review revealed the promising effect of LMV on pain, stiffness, function, and knee range of motion (ROM) improvements for individuals with knee Osteoarthritis (OA). However, further well-designed studies are required to have a convincing conclusion on the effect of LMV in individuals with knee OA.

BACKGROUND: anaplastic thyroid cancer (ATC) is one of the most lethal and aggressive cancers. Evidence has shown that the tumorigenesis of ATC is a multistep process involving the accumulation of genetic and epigenetic changes. Several studies have suggested that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) may play an important role in the development and progression of ATC. In this article, we have collected the published reports about the role of lncRNAs in ATC. METHODS: "Scopus", "Web of Science", "PubMed", "Embase", etc. were systematically searched for articles published since 1990 to 2020 in English language, using the predefined keywords. RESULTS: 961 papers were reviewed and finally 33 papers which fulfilled the inclusion and exclusion criteria were selected. Based on this systematic review, among a lot of evidences on examining the function of lncRNAs in thyroid cancer, there are only a small number of studies about the role of lncRNAs and their molecular mechanisms in the pathogenesis of ATC. CONCLUSIONS: lncRNAs play a crucial role in regulation of different processes involved in the development and progression of ATC. Currently, just a few lncRNAs have been identified in ATC that may serve as prognosis markers such as GAS5, MIR22HG, and CASC2. Also, because of the dysregulation of Klhl14-AS, HOTAIRM1, and PCA3 during ATC development and progression, they may act as therapeutic targets. However, for most lncRNAs, only a single experiment has evaluated the expression profile in ATC tissues/cells. Therefore, further functional studies and expression profiling is needed to resolve this limitation and identify novel and valid biomarkers.

Background: Type 1 diabetes is one of the chronic metabolic disorders among children and adolescents. Peers are also important units in diabetes management through adolescence. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of peer-based intervention in managing type 1 diabetes mellitus among children and adolescents. Methods: Searching articles published prior to December 2013 in PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane library, Science Direct, Google scholar, CINAHL and Scopus, we found 8,548 publications. The first reviewer critically appraised the retrieved articles, using the CONSORT and the TREND checklists and then the second-assessor checked them. All abstracts were screened, and only eight full text articles remained for evaluation based on inclusion criteria Results: Eight studies, including five randomized controlled trials, one controlled trial, and two pre-post trials were critically appraised based on CONSORT and the TREND checklists. The outcomes of these studies were as follows: knowledge (three studies), attitude (two studies), performance (one study), clinical parameters- exclusively HbA1c-(four studies), and psychosocial parameters-such as quality of life, coping, self-care, selfconfidence, satisfaction with the perceived social support, social skills, and diabetes-related conflicts Conclusion: The findings of this systematic review revealed that peer-based interventions could help to manage diabetes. While there is a lack of professional or family-based interventions and education, peers can be involved in the process of patient education. As there are few studies in the area of peer-based diabetes management, conducting further interventional studies with robust methodology is highly recommended.

BACKGROUND: Hyperhomocysteinemia is a risk factor for cardiovascular disease particularly in patients with end stage renal disease (ESRD). Vitamin B12 supplementation on its own still remains as a controversial issue for clinicians in decreasing the level of homcysteine in this group of patients. METHODS: Using all randomized controlled trials (RCTs), clinical trials and pre-post-trial studies found during January 1999 to March 2014, we conducted a systematic review which assessed the effects of vitamin B12 in decreasing homocysteine levels in patients with ESRD. RESULTS: The findings of this study revealed that, overall, the greatest effect of B12 supplementation on decreasing homocysteine levels in patients with ESRDs occurred when it was combined with folate supplementation. It was also demonstrated that injection treatments might be more beneficial than oral intake treatments. CONCLUSION: More rigorous studies are needed to draw a firm conclusion about B12 therapy and the level of homocyteine in patients with ESRD.

BACKGROUND: The control of blood pressure (BP) is a challenge in diabetic patients and is associated with adverse outcomes of diabetes. In this systematic review and metaanalysis, we investigated the BP control rate among hypertensive diabetic patients in the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR) countries. METHODS: We systematically searched PubMed, Scopus, Embase, Cochrane, and Web of Science databases up to January 2023 for observational studies on BP control among hypertensive diabetic patients in all EMR countries. We included studies reporting the proportion of hypertensive, type 2 diabetic patients with controlled BP, defined as systolic/diastolic BP < 140/90 or <130/80 mmHg. Study quality was assessed using modified STROBE guidelines, and a random-effect meta-analysis was conducted to pool prevalence data and calculate overall rates. Subgroup analysis was performed by gender, study design, country, and BP control cut-offs (140/90 and 130/80). RESULTS: Among the 1949 retrieved studies, 20 studies assessing 27956 individuals were included. The proportion of BP control regardless of cut-off points was 36.8% (95% CI=29.1%45.3%) based on the studies reported for both genders.The prevalence was 53.2% (95% CI=36.1%- 69.6%) and 43.5% (95% CI=20.0%-70.3%) based on the studies reported just for women or men, respectively. CONCLUSION: Our findings indicate that BP control targets are not successfully achieved in hypertensive diabetic patients in the Eastern Mediterranean region. It is recommended to place greater emphasis on the quality of hypertension care in the management of type 2 diabetes.

Purpose: One of the key strategies for effective management of osteoporosis is training health care professionals on early diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis according to a structured course. The aim was to investigate the e-learning courses on osteoporosis around the world in order to develop an online course on osteoporosis management for general practitioners (GPs). Methods: In this review, the Web of Science, Scopus, PubMed, Embase, and ERIC databases and the Google search engine were searched until March, 2021.Then, the contents of the eligible courses were extracted by two researchers independently and verified. After that, the content for an online course for GPs was developed and approved by a panel of experts constituted of endocrinologists, orthopedists, and other specialties involved in the management of osteoporosis to develop the final online course for GPs. Results: In this review, 22 e-learning courses provided through 3 studies, and 19 websites were included. The content of the osteoporosis e-learning course was categorized into ten thematic categories including bone health, osteoporosis definitions and pathophysiology, prevention of osteoporosis, diagnosis of osteoporosis, fractures, non-pharmacological treatments, pharmacological treatments, treatment follow-up, postmenopausal considerations and hands-on work. The final modules for the osteoporosis e-learning contained five main categories, including bone measurement and fracture risk assessment, diagnosis of osteoporosis, clinical management, monitoring and follow-up, and sarcopenia. Conclusion: Through a systematic approach, we developed modules for e-learning of osteoporosis management, which can be used to improve knowledge and skills of GPs in their practice in our setting. BACKGROUND: Ramadan Intermittent Fasting (RIF) has the potential to alter hormonal levels in the body. This study investigates the impact of RIF on hormonal levels among healthy individuals during Ramadan. METHODS: A systematic review and meta-analysis of previously published studies were conducted, focusing on healthy non-athlete adults. The intervention examined was Ramadan Intermittent Fasting, and the primary outcomes assessed were changes in endocrine hormonal and biochemical parameters. The pooled effect measure was expressed as odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) using the random-effects model. RESULTS: A total of 35 original articles were retrieved, with a combined sample size of 1,107 participants eligible for the meta-analysis. No significant relationship was found between pre- and post-Ramadan hormonal levels of T3, T4, TSH, FT3, FT4, Testosterone, LH, FSH, Prolactin, PTH, Calcium, and Phosphorus (P-value<0.05). However, a substantial decrease in morning cortisol levels was observed across the studies (P-value: 0.08, Hedges' g = -2.14, 95% CI: -4.54, 0.27). CONCLUSIONS: Ramadan Intermittent Fasting results in minimal hormonal changes and is a safe practice for healthy individuals. The fasting regimen appears to disrupt the circadian rhythm, leading to a decrease in morning cortisol levels.

Objective: This systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted to compare the benefits of adrenalectomy and conservative treatment for comorbidities associated with mild autonomous cortisol secretion (MACS) in patients diagnosed with MACS. Background: MACS is the most common benign hormone-secreting functional adrenal incidentaloma. Overproduction of cortisol is observed in MACS patients, resulting in a variety of long-term health issues, including arterial hypertension (HTN), diabetes mellitus (DM), dyslipidemia, obesity, and osteoporosis; however, the classic clinical manifestations of Cushing's syndrome (CS) are not present. Methods: A systematic search was conducted using MEDLINE, Embase, Web of Sciences, and Scopus databases on December, 2023. Two reviewers independently extracted data and assessed the quality of the included articles. A meta-analysis was performed to compare the beneficial effects of adrenalectomy versus conservative management for MACS-related comorbidities. Results: Fifteen articles were included in this study, which evaluated 933 MACS patients (384 Adrenalectomy and 501 Conservative treatment, and 48 excluded due to incomplete follow-up duration). MACS diagnosis criteria were different among the included articles. All studies, however, stated that there must be no overt CS symptoms. Meta-analysis demonstrates the overall advantage of adrenalectomy over conservative treatment for MACS-related comorbidities (Cohen's d = -0.49, 95% CI [-0.64, -0.34], p = 0.00). Subgroup analysis indicated that the systolic blood pressure (pooled effect size = -0.81, 95% CI [-1.19, -0.42], p = 0.03), diastolic blood pressure (pooled effect size = -0.63, 95% CI [-1.05, -0.21], p = 0.01), and BMD (pooled effect size = -0.40, 95% CI [-0.73, -0.07], p = 0.02) were significantly in favor of adrenalectomy group rather than conservative treatment but no significant differences between the two treatment groups in other MACS-related comorbidities were reported. Conclusion: Despite the limited and diverse data, this study demonstrates the advantage of adrenalectomy over conservative treatment for MACS-related comorbidities.

Objective: To evaluate the leading challenges in developing countries' traumatic spinal cord injury (TSCI) care. Methods: We conducted a systematic search in electronic databases of PubMed, SCOPUS, Web of Science, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library on 16 April 2023. Studies that investigated challenges associated with the management of TSCI in developing countries were eligible for review. We extracted related outcomes and categorized them into four distinct parts: injury prevention, pre-hospital care, in-hospital care, and post-hospital care. Results: We identified 82 articles that met the eligibility criteria including 13 studies on injury prevention, 25 on pre-hospital care, 32 on in-hospital care, and 61 on post-hospital care. Challenges related to post-hospital problems including the personal, financial, and social consequences of patients' disabilities and the deficiencies in empowering people with TSCI were foremost studied. Lack of trained human resources, insufficient public education and delays in care delivery were barriers in the acute and chronic management of TSCI. A well-defined pre-hospital network and standard guidelines for the management of acute neurotrauma are needed. Critical challenges in injury prevention include deficiencies in infrastructure and supportive legislation. Conclusion: Studies focusing on injury prevention and pre-hospital care in TSCI management in developing countries warrant further investigation. It is imperative to develop systematic and evidence-based initiatives that are specifically tailored to the unique circumstances of each country to address these challenges effectively. By understanding the primary obstacles, policymakers and healthcare providers can establish goals for improving education, planning, legislation, and resource allocation.

Road traffic injuries present a significant public health burden, especially in developing countries. This systematic review and meta-analysis synthesized global evidence on motorcycle helmet use prevalence by including 299 records across 249 articles involving 5,006,476 participants from 1982 to 2022. The findings revealed a declining trend in helmet use prevalence over the past four decades, with an overall prevalence of 48.71%. The meta-regression analysis did not find any statistically significant change in the overall prevalence. Subgroup analysis showed higher helmet use prevalence in observation/survey records (54.29%) compared to crashed patient records (44.84%). Riders/Motorcyclists demonstrated a higher likelihood of wearing helmets than passengers in both observation/survey records (62.61 vs. 28.23%) and crashed patient records (47.76 vs. 26.61%). Countries with mandatory helmet use laws had higher helmet usage prevalence compared to those without (52.26 vs. 37.21%). The African continent had the lowest helmet use rates, while Latin America and the Caribbean regions had higher rates. This study provides a comprehensive overview of global helmet use prevalence, emphasizing disparities between high and low-income countries, variations in law enforcement, and trends over four decades. Targeted interventions are necessary to improve helmet-wearing habits, especially among passengers and regions with low usage rates. Effective legislation and awareness campaigns are crucial for promoting helmet use and reducing road traffic injuries burden.

Healthcare workers are at the forefront of fight against COVID-19 and the managers of medical centers should develop coping strategies for the challenges caused by COVID-19, especially for health human resources in order to improve the performance of healthcare organizations. Hence, the purpose of this study is to investigate the human resource management strategies of medical staff during the COVID-19 to help them cope with the new strains of COVID-19 or epidemics of viral diseases that may occur in the future. In this study, a search was performed in the international Web of Science electronic database, using keywords such as human resource management and COVID-19. As a result, a total of 1884 articles published between January 1st, 2020 and October 22nd, 2021 were extracted. After screening the articles based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, 24 articles were selected to enter the study. Then, a scientometric analysis was performed on the content of selected articles and the results were presented in the form of tables and conceptual models. In total, 9 strategies were extracted from the selected articles including development of organizational culture, staff screening, policy-making, infection control training and monitoring the implementation of learned materials, patient management, human resource management, psychological and motivational support, communication and coordination, and digital health services. Employing comprehensive strategies to maintain the health of healthcare workers during the COVID-19 can play an effective role in reducing burnout, improving productivity and employee satisfaction, and in increasing the resilience of healthcare workers. It also has a positive effect on the patient's safety. Revision and reengineering of human resource management strategies in health and treatment organizations according to different cultures and contexts require research and investment in creative and innovative strategies.
RESUMEN
INTRODUCTION: Ramadan fasting is globally observed and a great majority of the residents of Islamic countries and elsewhere fast during Ramadan all across the world every year. Many patients with type 1 diabetes fast during Ramadan according to (or against) medical and jurisprudence advice. Nonetheless, there is a paucity of scientific evidence regarding the risks patients with diabetes who fast may be confronted with. The current scoping review protocol aims at systematic analysis and mapping of existing literature in the field and highlighting scientific gaps. METHODS AND ANALYSES: This scoping review will be conducted based on the Arksey and O'Malley's methodological framework with consideration of later modifications and amendments. Three major scientific databases, namely PubMed, Scopus and Embase up to February 2022 will be systematically searched by expert researchers in collaboration with a medical librarian. Considering the fact that Ramadan Fasting is a cultural-dependent subject, which may be studied in the Middle Eastern and Islamic Countries in languages other than English, local Persian and Arabic Databases will also be included. Grey literature will be sought too, and unpublished works such as conference proceedings and academic degree dissertation will be considered. Subsequently, one author will screen and record all abstracts, and two reviewers will independently screen and retrieve eligible full texts. A third reviewer will then be designated to resolve potential discrepancies. Standardised data charts and forms will be used for information extraction and reporting of the outcomes. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION: No ethical considerations apply to this research. Results will be published and presented in academic journals and scientific events.

Purpose: There is plenty of evidence on the interventions that can improve outcomes of diabetes. Thus, there is an urgent need to innovate and provide cost-effective ways to optimize the best care for diabetes. The aim was to examine the components of diabetes courses to extract training virtual modules for training primary health care professionals (PHCPs) (i.e. general practitioners, nurses and nutritionists). Methods: In this scoping review, a systematic approach based on the Arksey and O'Malley method was used. In order to develop the modules for diabetes courses, search strategy was developed using main keywords. Also, databases including PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, CINAHL, ERIC and Embase, and Google search engine were searched up to April 10th 2021. Two researchers independently screened the retrieved courses. After removing duplicates, and according to the eligibility criteria, the components of each retrieved course were extracted. Results: Diabetes training courses have been selected to examine their components to extract training modules. Initially, we found 120 courses related to the training of PHCPs. All information about 44 courses were available online. The researchers reviewed the courses according to tool approved by panel of experts, inclusion criteria, and purpose of the study. Thus, we first extracted 23 eligible programs and 15 final programs were considered for extracting the modules. According to the tool developed by the panel of experts, we extracted 9 virtual modules for diabetes courses including principles, prevention or delay, management, complications, education, special conditions, information technology, referral system of diabetes for training PHCPs. Conclusion: Education is an important part of diabetes and needs of PHCPs should be addressed in educational programs in the future. The design of the diabetes training course based on extracted modules in this research for the training of PHCPs can help in this field.
