RESUMEN

Fructus Corni has been reported to contain a wide variety of pharmacological effects and previous studies had revealed that Fructus Corni might protect the cardiac indices. However, the all-encompassing metabolic profile of Fructus Corni has not been well illuminated. In this research, high-sensitivity ultra-performance liquid chromatography with quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry method was adopted to identify the metabolic profile after oral administration of Fructus Corni extract, especially the metabolic characterization of serum and heart, for which the targets and signaling pathways about heart failure were hunted through compound-target-disease-pathway intersection network. Ultimately, 37 ingredients were identified in Fructus Corni extract, and 22 prototypes and 134 metabolites that were identified in serum, heart, feces, and urine were tentatively characterized, which contained iridoids, flavonoids, tannins, organic acids, and others. Additionally, 10 putative key compounds including four prototypes and six phase I metabolites were screened by network pharmacology and molecular docking, among which, secoxyloganin (P7), loganin (P14), cornuside III (P17) and cornuside (P20) were the absorbed compounds to represent the potential active ingredients of Fructus Corni engaged in heart failure condition. In general, this method provided the combined strategy to preliminarily settle the complex of Fructus Corni's metabolic profiling and anti-heart failure pharmacologic activities.

RESUMEN

A numerical model for the prediction of vibration behaviors of a laminated submarine structure consisting of spherical, cylindrical, and cone shells with multiple built-in annular plates is reported in this article. With the aid of the first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT) concerning plates and shells, the energy expressions of each substructure are derived. The displacement functions in the energy functionals are expanded by the employment of Legendre orthogonal polynomials and circumferential Fourier series. Then, the Rayleigh-Ritz procedure is performed to obtain the eigenfrequency and the corresponding eigenmode of the submarine model. The correctness of the structural model is examined by comparing the results with existing papers and the finite element method, and the maximum deviation is not more than 2.07%. Additionally, the influence of the plate's thickness, position, inner diameter, as well as the laying angle on the intrinsic vibration characteristics of laminated submarine-like structure is determined. The results reveal that rational geometry design and assemblage benefit the vibration performance of the combination. Increasing the thickness of all the annular plates, decreasing the inner radius, and regulating the laminated scheme, make remarkable influence on structural free vibration, with the maximum relative changing rate of frequency exceeding 97%, 16%, and 23%, respectively.

RESUMEN

In this study, rod-like hydroxyapatite (HA) with uniform morphology and controllable particle size modified by doping with two different amino acids (alanine and threonine) was synthesized by a microwave hydrothermal method. The physical and chemical properties of the composites were tested by utilizing X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), general thermogravimetric analysis (TG) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The SEM and XRD results show that the presence of amino acids (especially threonine) can significantly reduce the aspect ratio and crystallinity of hydroxyapatite. Pure hydroxyapatite and modified hydroxyapatite doped with two different proportions of amino acids were cultured with mouse osteoblasts (MC3T3-E1) for 1, 3 and 5 days, respectively, nanohydroxyapatite modified by threonine has better biocompatibility compared with pure hydroxyapatite. The amino acid-modified hydroxyapatite samples were co-cultured with osteosarcoma cells (MG63) for 1, 4 and 7 days, respectively, and showed better inhibitory effects on osteosarcoma cells. The nanohydroxyapatite doped with amino acids could be used as a potential drug that promotes bone repair and inhibits the growth of osteosarcoma cells.

RESUMEN

The type and fineness of a filler significantly affect the performance of an asphalt mixture. There is a lack of specific research on the effects of filler fineness and dust from aggregates on the properties of epoxy asphalt (EA) mixtures. The effects of aggregate dust and mineral powder on the properties of an EA mixture were evaluated. These filler were tested to determine their fineness, specific surface area and mineral composition. The effects of these fillers on the EA mastic sample and mixture were evaluated. The morphology of the EA mastic samples was analyzed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The effects of the fillers on the Marshall stability, tensile strength and fatigue performance of the EA mixture were evaluated. The dust from the aggregates exhibited an even particle size distribution, and its average particle size was approximately 20% of that of the mineral powder. The SEM microanalysis showed that the EA mastic sample containing relatively fine dust formed a tight and dense interfacial bonding structure with the aggregate. The EA mixture sample containing filler composed of dust from aggregate had a significantly higher strength and longer fatigue life than that of the EA sample containing filler composed of mineral powder.

RESUMEN

The flexural cracking resistance of an asphalt concrete mixture used in a steel bridge deck pavement needs to be higher than that of one used in ordinary pavement. In this study, mechanical experimental tests were used to evaluate the influence of the aggregate strength on the flexural cracking behavior of epoxy asphalt concrete (EAC). The aggregate fracture area of beam cross sections was quantitatively analyzed by digital image processing, and crack propagation in the mixture was analyzed using fracture mechanics theory. The bending test results showed that the EAC containing high-strength aggregates exhibited the highest flexural cracking resistance among all of the aggregate mixtures under the same conditions. The use of high-strength aggregates led to a reduction in the aggregate fracture area, thereby improving the flexural cracking resistance of the mixture. The aggregate strength had a significant influence on the flexural cracking propagation behavior of the mixture. Fatigue test results at strain-controlled levels of 600-1200 µÎµ and 15 °C showed that the aggregate strength had no evident influence on the fatigue properties of the EAC. It is recommended that high-strength aggregates are used to increase the fracture resistance of aggregates and the flexural crack resistance of EACs.

RESUMEN

CeO2-TiO2 catalysts are prepared by coprecipitation method, and the activity and stability in the catalytic wet air oxidation (CWAO) of phenol are investigated in a batch reactor and packed-bed reactor. CeO2-TiO2 mixed oxides show the higher activity than pure CeO2 and TiO2, and CeO2-TiO2 1/1 catalyst displays the highest activity in the CWAO of phenol. In a batch reactor, COD and TOC removals are about 100% and 77% after 120 min in the CWAO of phenol over CeO2-TiO2 1/1 catalyst at reaction temperature of 150 degrees C, the total pressure of 3 MPa, phenol concentration of 1000 mg/L, and catalyst dosage of 4 g/L. In a packed-bed reactor using CeO2-TiO2 1/1 particle catalyst, over 91% COD and 80% TOC removals are obtained at the reaction temperature of 140 degrees C, the air total pressure of 3.5 MPa, the phenol concentration of 1000 mg/L for 100 h continue reaction. Leaching of metal ions of CeO2-TiO2 1/1 particle catalyst is very low during the continuous reaction. CeO2-TiO2 1/1 catalyst exhibits the excellent activity and stability in the CWAO of phenol.

RESUMEN

Disrupted-in-Schizophrenia-1 (DISC1) has first been identified as a candidate gene for schizophrenia through study of a Scottish family with a balanced (1; 11) (q42.1; q14.3) translocation. Lots of linkage and association studies supported DISC1 as a risk factor for schizophrenia. In this study, we genotyped three SNPs in DISC1 using a set of Han Chinese samples of 560 schizophrenics and 576 controls. No positive association was detected in the whole samples but analysis of allele frequencies in female samples showed weak association between SNP rs2295959 and the disease (chi(2)=6.188, P=0.0135, OR=0.728, 95% CI=0.567-0.935). Our results provide further evidence for sex difference for the effect of the gene on the aetiology of schizophrenia. Our findings also would encourage further studies, particularly family-based association studies with larger samples, to analyze the association between DISC1 and schizophrenia.

RESUMEN

Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) belongs to a family of the neurotrophin which plays important roles in the development of the brain. BDNF has been suggested as a factor that increases the risk of schizophrenia. In this study, we genotyped three single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the BDNF gene using a set sample of Han Chinese subjects consisting of 560 schizophrenes and 576 controls. No significant differences were found for either the genotype or allele distribution of analyzed polymorphisms, nor was any gender-specific association found. Thus, our data suggest that the BDNF gene may not be an important factor in susceptibility to schizophrenia.

RESUMEN

The close homolog of L1 (CHL1), located on human chromosome 3p26.1, is a newly identified member of the L1 family of cell adhesion molecules which play important roles in cell migration, axonal growth, and synaptic remodeling. A positive association has been reported between a missense polymorphism in CHL1 gene and schizophrenia in the Japanese population [Sakurai, K., Migita, O., Toru, M., Arinami, T., 2002. An association between a missense polymorphism in the close homologue of L1 (CHL1, CALL) gene and schizophrenia. Mol. Psychiatry 7, 412-415]. An association between a missense polymorphism in the close homologue of L1 (CHL1, CALL) gene and schizophrenia. In order to test this finding, we genotyped four SNPs in the gene in the Han Chinese population using a sample of 560 cases and 576 controls. Analysis of allele frequencies in both samples also showed strong association between SNP rs2272522 (the same marker studied by K. Sakurai) and the disease (X2=31.591, P<0.000001, OR=1.745, 95% CI=1.435-2.121). Our results confirm the positive association between CHL1 gene and schizophrenia and indicate that CHL1 may be involved in the etiology of schizophrenia.
