RESUMEN

The detection of volatile amines is necessary due to the serious toxicity hazards they pose to human skin, respiratory systems, and nervous systems. However, traditional amines detection methods require bulky equipment, high costs, and complex measurements. Herein, we report a new simple, rapid, convenient, and visual method for the detection of volatile amines based on the gas-solid reactions of tetrachloro-p-benzoquinone (TCBQ) and volatile amines. The gas-solid reactions of TCBQ with a variety of volatile amines showed a visually distinct color in a time-dependent manner. Moreover, TCBQ can be easily fabricated into simple and flexible rapid test strips for detecting and distinguishing n-propylamine from other volatile amines, including ethylamine, n-butyamine, n-pentamine, n-butyamine and dimethylamine, in less than 3 s without any equipment assistance.

RESUMEN

A novel pyromellitic diimide-extended pillar[6]arene was synthesized in two steps with moderate yield for the first time. It showed a symmetrical stretched hexagon structure and could form 1:2 complexes with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in solution. Interestingly, a linear supramolecular array between complex 1@G42 and pyrene through π···π stacking interactions was also observed in the solid state.

RESUMEN

A new naphthalene diimides extended-pillar[6]arene 1 with a large cavity and rich host-guest complexation properties was synthesized in high yield. It can not only form 1:2 complexes with large size polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons but also form 1:1:1 ternary complex with perylene and 2,7-diazapyrenium. Moreover, the supramolecular exchange reaction from a 1:2 host-guest complex 1•(G3)2 formed by 1 and perylene to a 1:1:1 ternary complex 1•G3•G5 formed by 1 with perylene and 2,7-diazapyrenium salt was also investigated by 1H NMR experiments as well as theoretically calculations.

RESUMEN

A novel stretched hexagon structure naphthalene diimides-extended-pillar[6]arene 1 with a giant cavity size of 18.769 Å in width and 17.109 Å in height is reported. 1 exhibits highly selective binding of pagoda[5]arene compared to pillar[5]arene and prism[5]arene. Size matching and charge transfer interactions play a key role in the formation of the ring-in-ring stable complex.

RESUMEN

In this paper, we reported the synthesis of water soluble macrocyclic arenes 1 containing anionic carboxylate groups. It was found that host 1 could form a 1 : 1 complex with N-methylquinolinium salts in water. Moreover, the complexation and decomplexation of the complexes between host and the guests could be achieved by changing the pH of the solution, and the process could also be observed by naked eye.

RESUMEN

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(15)H(17)NO(4)·H(2)O, contains two organic mol-ecules with marginal differences between them and two water molecules. The chromine rings in both mol-ecules are essentially planar, with maximum deviations of 0.012 (2) and 0.060 (2) Å. The five-membered cyclo-pentane rings adopt envelope conformations in both mol-ecules. In the crystal, the components are linked by N-H⋯O, O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, resulting in a three-dimensional network.

RESUMEN

Background: Hyperhomocysteinemia (HHcy) is a risk factor for thromboembolic disease. Defects in one-carbon metabolism (1-CM)-related genes, such as methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR), methylenetetrahydrofolate dehydrogenase, cyclohydrolase, and formyltetrahydrofolate synthetase 1 (MTHFD1), can cause HHcy and may also affect the efficacy of folic acid therapy. The details of mechanisms are yet to be further investigated. Method: We described a Chinese family with hereditary HHcy. The proband suffered from severe thromboembolic disease and experienced failure of folic acid therapy. Two sons of the proband were also diagnosed with HHcy but were sensitive to folic acid therapy. Whole-exome sequencing (WES) was conducted to evaluate the genetic lesion of this family. Results: Compound heterozygous variants (a common polymorphism, p. A222V, and a novel variant, p. C631*fs*1) of the MTHFR gene and a homozygous missense variant (p. K134R) of the MTHFD1 gene were identified in the proband. The two sons, with successful intervention, only harbored the homozygous p. A222V variant of the MTHFR gene. Conclusion: The clinical manifestations and genetic research synergistically confirmed the diagnosis of HHcy and clarified the failure of folic acid therapy in the proband caused by doubly bi-allelic variants of the MTHFR and MTHFD1 genes. Our study increased our understanding of the molecular basis of 1-CM-related gene defects on folic acid therapy in HHcy.

RESUMEN

In this work, we developed a new method for the preparation of phenanthrene[2]arene on a large-scale. Meanwhile, the synthetic phenanthrene[2]arene has been successfully used as nonporous adaptive crystals for the separation of para-xylene (pX) from xylene isomers. The crystal structure revealed that one host molecule can adsorb one pX molecule to form the 1@pX complex, in which pX is located in the cavity of the host.

RESUMEN

In the title salt, [Zn(2)(C(2)H(8)N(2))(5)](ClO(4))(4), an ethyl-enediamine mol-ecule bridges two bis-(ethyl-enediamine)-zinc units; the five-coordinate Zn atoms show a trigonal-bipyramidal coordination geometry that is distorted towards square-pyramidal (that of one Zn atom is distorted by 12% and that of the other by 34%). The perchlorate ions are all disordered over two positions in a 1:1 ratio. The cation inter-acts weakly with the anion by N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, generating a three-dimensional network.

RESUMEN

INTRODUCTION: Brain metastases are often accompanied by edema. Endostatin therapy can prevent tumor tissue edema. Therefore, we investigated the therapeutic effects of endostatin combined with radiotherapy in the treatment of brain metastases of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and assessed the relations between the effect and vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR2) expression. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Eighty patients with brain metastases of NSCLC were randomly divided into a combination therapy group and a radiotherapy-alone group, each group with 40 patients. The short-term effective rate, overall survival time, cerebral edema index, and adverse reactions were observed, and the expressions of VEGFR2 protein and KDR gene in primary lesions were detected via immunohistochemical methods and fluorescence in-situ hybridization (FISH) in all patients. RESULTS: Compared with the radiotherapy-alone group, brain edema was significantly relieved (P = .003) and there were no marked adverse reactions in the combination therapy group. Regarding the short-term effective rate, there was no statistical significance in the total population (n = 80, 90% vs. 75%, P = .07), but there was statistical significance in cases of positive VEGFR2 (93% vs. 67.7%, P = .012) or positive KDR gene (94.4% vs. 47.3%, P = .002) in both groups. For overall survival time, there was no statistical significance in total population (n = 80, P = .35), positive VEGFR2 patients (P = .109), and positive KDR gene patients (P = .147). CONCLUSION: Compared with radiotherapy alone, endostatin combined with radiotherapy can relieve brain edema in patients with brain metastases of NSCLC and can obtain a better short-term effective rate in patients with positive VEGFR2 or positive KDR gene, but endostatin therapy does not significantly improve overall survival time.
