RESUMEN
We are a European academic group of family doctors and we propose a definition of flexibility in family medicine. A review of the literature shows that flexibility and complexity are emerging concepts in the field of family practice. The outcomes of a workshop at the WONCA-Europe congress in 2014 are discussed. The flexibility is a capability of the general practitioner to deal with complex clinical situations in a biomedical and societal changing world. Flexibility is framed by ethics. It could improve the quality of care, be useful against burnout and used in medical research. In conclusion, family medicine should adopt a specific definition of the flexibility describing its specificity, a useful and teachable capacity.

One hundred thirty-five married individuals evaluated the acceptability of alternative therapeutic formats commonly employed in marital therapy. Distressed and nondistressed spouses were randomly assigned to experimental conditions including two types of educational information (descriptive and group-oriented) presented across three treatment formats (i.e., individual, conjoint, and group). Primary dependent variables included the Treatment Evaluation Inventory and the Semantic Differential. Results revealed that conjoint format was most acceptable, followed by group and individual, respectively. However, distressed spouses rated the group and conjoint formats as equal in acceptability. Group-oriented information increased nondistressed subjects' ratings of group format. The implications of these results for clinicians and researchers offering marital therapy are discussed.

The current study examined the acceptability of four treatment-formats commonly used in marital therapy: conjoint, concurrent, group, and individual. A total of 356 subjects were randomly assigned to experimental conditions. These included three types of information (descriptive, research-oriented, and group-oriented) and two differing case histories presented across the treatment formats. Results revealed a clear and consistent pattern of preference for conjoint therapy, followed by concurrent, group, and individual formats, respectively. It was also found that providing efficacy information about alternative formats and varying case histories did not alter acceptability ratings.

Six new polyazole derivatives from 2-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)-1,3-dioxolane were studied for their antifungal activity against pathogenic fungi for humans and animals. The antimycotic effect was largely restricted to the filamentous fungi with Aspergillus fumigatus and Scedosporium apiospermum being remarkably susceptible. Three compounds were as effective as the two references, ketoconazole and oxiconazole. The structure-activity relationships revealed than an 'oxime group' combined with four chlorine atoms increased the antifungal properties of the chemical series.

1,2-Hydrogen shift isomers of ionized pyridine, thiazole and imidazole are readily characterized by the study of their associative ion-molecule reactions with dimethyl disulfide in the quadrupole collision cell of a new hybrid sector-quadrupole-sector mass spectrometer. Efficient trapping reactions of CH(3)S(.) radicals are indeed observed and the actual structure of the adduct [M + CH(3)S](+) ions is clearly indicated by their high-energy collisional activation mass spectra. These trapping reactions are not observed for the 'conventional' pyridine, thiazole and imidazole molecular ions, which only react by charge exchange producing m/z 94, [CH(3)SSCH(3)](*+), ions.
