RESUMEN

KEY MESSAGE: Identification of 337 stable MTAs for wheat spike-related traits improved model accuracy, and favorable alleles of MTA259 and MTA64 increased grain weight and yield per plant. Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is one of the three primary global, staple crops. Improving spike-related traits in wheat is crucial for optimizing spike and plant morphology, ultimately leading to increased grain yield. Here, we performed a genome-wide association study using a dataset of 24,889 high-quality unique single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and phenotypic data from 314 wheat accessions across eight diverse environments. In total, 337 stable and significant marker-trait associations (MTAs) related to spike-related traits were identified. MTA259 and MTA64 were consistently detected in seven and six environments, respectively. The presence of favorable alleles associated with MTA259 and MTA64 significantly reduced wheat spike exsertion length and spike length, while enhancing thousand kernel weight and yield per plant. Combined gene expression and network analyses identified TraesCS6D03G0692300 and TraesCS6D03G0692700 as candidate genes for MTA259 and TraesCS2D03G0111700 and TraesCS2D03G0112500 for MTA64. The identified MTAs significantly improved the prediction accuracy of each model compared with using all the SNPs, and the random forest model was optimal for genome selection. Additionally, the eight stable and major MTAs, including MTA259, MTA64, MTA66, MTA94, MTA110, MTA165, MTA180, and MTA164, were converted into cost-effective and efficient detection markers. This study provided valuable genetic resources and reliable molecular markers for wheat breeding programs.

KEY MESSAGE: Mutations in TaCHLI impact chlorophyll levels and yield-related traits in wheat. Natural variations in TaCHLI-7A/B influence plant productivity, offering potential for molecular breeding. Chlorophyll is essential for plant growth and productivity. The CHLI subunit of the magnesium chelatase protein plays a key role inserting magnesium into protoporphyrin IX during chlorophyll biosynthesis. Here, we identify a novel wheat mutant chlorophyll (chl) that exhibits yellow-green leaves, reduced chlorophyll levels, and increased carotenoid content, leading to an overall decline in yield-related traits. Map-based cloning reveals that the chl phenotype is caused by a point mutation (Asp186Asn) in the TaCHLI-7D gene, which encodes subunit I of magnesium chelatase. Furthermore, the three TaCHLI mutants: chl-7b-1 (Pro82Ser), chl-7b-2 (Ala291Thr), and chl-7d-1 (Gly357Glu), also showed significant reductions in chlorophyll content and yield-related traits. However, TaCHLI-7D overexpression in rice significantly decreased thousand kernel weight, yield per plant, and germination. Additionally, natural variations in TaCHLI-7A/B are significantly associated with flag leaf, spike exsertion length, and yield per plant. Notably, the favorable haplotype, TaCHLI-7B-HapII, which displayed higher thousand kernel weight and yield per plant, is positively selected in wheat breeding. Our study provides insights on the regulatory molecular mechanisms underpinning leaf color and chlorophyll biosynthesis, and highlights TaCHLI functions, which provide useful molecular markers and genetic resources for wheat breeding.

BACKGROUND: The noise associated with ceramic-on-ceramic (CoC) total hip arthroplasty (THA) has been a concerning issue, while its underlying causes remain unclear. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective analysis of 119 patients (174 primary CoC THAs) who had a mean follow-up of 28 months (range, 12 to 106). A questionnaire was designed to collect information on nature, frequency, onset, duration, and impact of the noise. Postoperative x-rays were evaluated. Clinical evaluations, including Harris and Oxford hip scores, were documented at follow-up time points (6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year). RESULTS: Of the 174 hips, 31.6% reported noise, including 26 popping (14.9%), 24 clicking (12.1%), and 5 grinding (2.9%). No patients reported squeaking. Noisy hips had lower age (P = .009) and body mass index (P = .019). Among patients with developmental dysplasia of the hip, 17 of 55 hips reported noise associated with smaller cup anteversion angle (P = .004), greater body height (P = .022), and larger acetabular cup size (P = .049). Noise typically began at a mean of 193 days (range, 1 to 2,598) after surgery and disappeared spontaneously in 50.9% of hips before final follow-up, with an average disappearance time of 211 days (range, 60 to 730). Noise did not affect daily life in 74.5% of patients, while 26.9% of patients who had popping reported painful sensations. One patient experienced joint dislocation, and another experienced a ceramic liner fracture during follow-up. No statistical difference was observed in outcome scores between noise and silent groups at 4 follow-up time points. CONCLUSIONS: Incidence of noise after primary CoC THA is relatively high. Smaller cup anteversion and larger acetabular cup size were associated with noise production in patients who had developmental dysplasia of the hip.

Antarctic krill oil (AKO) is highly sought after by consumers and the food industry due to its richness in a variety of nutrients and physiological activities. However, current extraction methods are not sufficient to better extract AKO and its nutrients, and AKO is susceptible to lipid oxidation during processing and storage, leading to nutrient loss and the formation of off-flavors and toxic compounds. The development of various extraction methods and encapsulation systems for AKO to improve oil yield, nutritional value, antioxidant capacity, and bioavailability has become a research hotspot. This review summarizes the research progress of AKO from extraction to encapsulation system construction. The AKO extraction mechanism, technical parameters, oil yield and composition of solvent extraction, aqueous enzymatic extraction, supercritical/subcritical extraction, and three-liquid-phase salting-out extraction system are described in detail. The principles, choice of emulsifier/wall materials, preparation methods, advantages and disadvantages of four common encapsulation systems for AKO, namely micro/nanoemulsions, microcapsules, liposomes and nanostructured lipid carriers, are summarized. These four encapsulation systems are characterized by high encapsulation efficiency, low production cost, high bioavailability and high antioxidant capacity. Depending on the unique advantages and conditions of different encapsulation methods, as well as consumer demand for health and nutrition, different products can be developed. However, existing AKO encapsulation systems lack relevant studies on digestive absorption and targeted release, and the single product category of commercially available products limits consumer choice. In conjunction with clinical studies of AKO encapsulation systems, the development of encapsulation systems for special populations should be a future research direction.

Stable organic radicals generated by photo-excitation hold applications in molecular switching devices and information storage. It remains challenging to develop photo-generated radical materials with rapid response and air stability in the solid state. Here, we report a structure based on 1,3,6,8-tetraphenylpyrene derivative (Py-TTAc) displaying photo-induced radicals with air stability in the solid state. Photo-induced electron transfer, exposed to a 365 nm ultraviolet lamp for 1 minute, affords radicals in Py-TTAc powder as confirmed by electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy. The maximum radical concentration reaches 2.21% after continuous irradiation for 1 hour and recurs more than 10 times without any chemical degradation. The mechanistic study according to the femtosecond transient absorption (fsTA) and X-ray technology suggests that the radicals are derived from photo-induced symmetry-breaking charge separation (SB-CS) and stabilized through non-covalent interactions. The photo-generated stable radical system is employed in anti-counterfeiting paper and optoelectronic device applications. This study will provide insights into the development of photoactive organic radical materials.

The development of a methodology for synthesizing value-added urea (CO(NH2)2) via a renewable electricity-driven C-N coupling reaction under mild conditions is highly anticipated. However, the complex catalytic active sites that act on the carbon and nitrogen species make the reaction mechanism unclear, resulting in a low efficiency of C-N coupling from the co-reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) and nitrate (NO3 -). Herein, we propose a novel tandem catalyst of Mo-PCN-222(Co), in which the Mo sites serve to facilitate nitrate reduction to the *NH2 intermediate, while the Co sites enhance CO2 reduction to carbonic oxide (CO), thus synergistically promoting C-N coupling. The synthesized Mo-PCN-222(Co) catalyst exhibited a noteworthy urea yield rate of 844.11 mg h-1 g-1, alongside a corresponding Faradaic efficiency of 33.90 % at -0.4 V vs. reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE). By combining in situ spectroscopic techniques with density functional theory calculations, we demonstrate that efficient C-N coupling is attributed to a tandem system in which the *NH2 and *CO intermediates produced by the Mo and Co active sites of Mo-PCN-222(Co) stabilize the formation of the *CONH2 intermediate. This study provides an effective avenue for the design and synthesis of tandem catalysts for electrocatalytic urea synthesis.

KEY MESSAGE: The leaf rust resistance gene Lr19, which is present on the long arm of chromosome 7E1 in Thinopyrum ponticum, was mapped within a 0.3-cM genetic interval, and translocation lines were developed to break its linkage with yellow pigmentation The leaf rust resistance locus Lr19, which was transferred to wheat (Triticum aestivum) from its relative Thinopyrum ponticum in 1966, still confers broad resistance to most known races of the leaf rust pathogen Puccinia triticina (Pt) worldwide. However, this gene has not previously been fine-mapped, and its tight linkage with a gene causing yellow pigmentation has limited its application in bread wheat breeding. In this study, we genetically mapped Lr19 using a bi-parental population from a cross of two wheat-Th. ponticum substitution lines, the Lr19-carrying line 7E1(7D) and the leaf rust-susceptible line 7E2(7D). Genetic analysis of the F2 population and the F2:3 families showed that Lr19 was a single dominant gene. Genetic markers allowed the gene to be mapped within a 0.3-cM interval on the long arm of Th. ponticum chromosome 7E1, flanked by markers XsdauK3734 and XsdauK2839. To reduce the size of the Th. ponticum chromosome segment carrying Lr19, the Chinese Spring Ph1b mutant was employed to promote recombination between the homoeologous chromosomes of the wheat chromosome 7D and the Th. ponticum chromosome 7E1. Two translocation lines with short Th. ponticum chromosome fragments carrying Lr19 were identified using the genetic markers closely linked to Lr19. Both translocation lines were resistant to 16 Pt races collected throughout China. Importantly, the linkage between Lr19 and yellow pigment content was broken in one of the lines. Thus, the Lr19 linked markers and translocation lines developed in this study are valuable resources in marker-assisted selection as part of common wheat breeding programs.

Beta-glucan (BG), a polysaccharide comprised of interfacing glucose monomers joined via beta-glycosidic linkages, can be defined as a type of dietary fiber with high specificity based on its interaction with the gut microbiota. It can induce similar interindividual microbiota responses, thereby having beneficial effects on the human body. In this paper, we review the four main sources of BG (cereals, fungi, algae, and bacteria) and their differences in structure and content. The interaction of BG with gut microbiota and the resulting health effects have been highlighted, including immune enhancement, regulation of serum cholesterol and insulin levels, alleviation of obesity and improvement of cognitive disorders. Finally, the application of BG in food products and its beneficial effects on the gut microbiota of consumers were discussed. Although some of the mechanisms of action remain unclear, revealing the beneficial functions of BG from the perspective of gut microbiota can help provide theoretical support for the development of diets that target the regulation of microbiota.

BACKGROUND: The side effects of pregabalin likely occur after the first dose. We aimed to evaluate the effect of 75 milligrams (mg) of pregabalin prescribed as an initial dose with a slow dose escalation for primary total joint arthroplasty within the enhanced recovery after surgery pathway. METHODS: Participants were randomly assigned to two groups. Fifty-eight patients were enrolled, and twenty-nine were assigned to each group. Group 1 (G1) received pregabalin (37.5 mg) twice on the day before surgery, as well as pregabalin 75 mg two hours pre-operatively; Group 2 (G2) received none on the day before surgery and the same dose of pregabalin at two hours pre-operatively. The primary outcome was dizziness assessed by severity; secondary outcomes included nausea, vomiting, sedation, opioid consumption, independent transfer at six hours post-operatively, time to readiness for independent transfers, time to readiness for discharge, and pain. RESULTS: At two, four, and six hours post-operatively, the proportion of patients experiencing dizziness and nausea was significantly greater in G2 than in G1, and opioid consumption was significantly greater in G2 than in G1 (P = .012). The proportion of independent transfers at six hours post-operatively was significantly greater in G1 than in G2 (P = .010). The time to readiness for independent transfers was significantly shorter in G1 than in G2 (P = .016). CONCLUSION: Prescription of pregabalin 37.5 mg twice on the day before surgery was effective in reducing early postoperative dizziness and nausea after receiving pregabalin 75 mg two hours pre-operatively. It also promoted early independent transfers and reduced opioid consumption.

As rising star materials, single-atom and dual-atom catalysts have been widely reported in the electro-catalysis area. To answer the key question: single-atom and dual-atom catalysts, which is better for electrocatalytic urea synthesis? we design two types of catalysts via a vacancy-anchorage strategy: single-atom Pd1 -TiO2 and dual-atom Pd1 Cu1 -TiO2 nanosheets. An ultrahigh urea activity of 166.67 molurea molPd -1 h1 with the corresponding 22.54 % Faradaic efficiency at -0.5 V vs. reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE) is achieved over Pd1 Cu1 -TiO2 , which is much higher than that of Pd1 -TiO2 . Various characterization including an in situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy (DRIFTS) and theoretical calculations demonstrate that dual-atom Pd1 Cu1 site in Pd1 Cu1 -TiO2 is more favorable for producing urea, which experiences a C-N coupling pathway with a lower energy barrier compared with Pd1 in Pd1 -TiO2 .

Two glycosylated naphthacemycins (naphthacemycins D1 and D2) were identified in Streptomyces sp. N12W1565. These two compounds not only showed antimicrobial potential against bacteria but also exhibited more aqueous solubility than naphthacemycins. Furthermore, the whole genome of Streptomyces sp. N12W1565 has been sequenced, the natY gene, located outside the biosynthetic gene cluster encoding a D-glucose glycosyltransferase, was identified to mediate glycosylation in the phenolic hydroxyl of the naphthacemycin core scaffold. Glycosyltransferase was elucidated in vitro by using a homologous enzyme, which showed potential as a biocatalyst.

OBJECTIVES: Adipokine resistin is highly expressed in the serum and synovial uid (SF) of patients with knee osteoarthritis (KOA) but its pathogenic role in KOA remains unclear. We aimed to explore the mechanism of resistin/CAP1 in human KOA chondrocytes. METHODS: We enrolled 103 patients with radiographic KOA and 86 healthy participants as controls. Resistin levels in serum and SF were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). CAP1 expression was measured in cartilage tissues using immunohistochemistry, quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR), and western blot. Effects of resistin on chondrocytes and CAP1 were evaluated via qRT-PCR and co-immunoprecipitation. The roles of CAP1, p38-MAPK, and NF-κB signalling pathways in KOA development were evaluated using adenovirus-mediated CAP1 short hairpin RNA, qRT-PCR, western blot, and ELISA. RESULTS: Resistin expression in serum and SF was elevated in severe radiographic KOA. CAP1 levels were higher in KOA cartilage and were positively correlated with resistin expression. Resistin promoted CCL3, CCL4, MMP13, and ADAMTS-4 expression through the CAP1 receptor. Resistin also directly bound to CAP1, as confirmed by co-immunoprecipitation. CAP1 knockdown in chondrocytes attenuated resistin-induced expression of CCL3, CCL4, MMP13, and ADAMTS-4 and activated p38-MAPK and NF-κB signalling pathways. CONCLUSIONS: Resistin binds CAP1 and upregulates the expression of proinflammatory cytokines and matrix-degrading enzymes via p38-MAPK and NF-κB signalling in human chondrocytes.

BACKGROUND: The diversified combination of nanostructure and material has received considerable attention from researchers to exploit advanced functional materials. In drug delivery systems, the hydrophilicity and sustained-release drug properties are in opposition. Thus, difficulties remain in the simultaneous improve sustained-release drug properties and increase the hydrophilicity of materials. METHODS: In this work, we proposed a modified triaxial electrospinning strategy to fabricate functional core-shell fibres, which could elaborate design of shell component for manipulating the sustained-release drug. Cellulose acetate (CA) was designed as the main polymeric matrix, whereas polyethylene glycol (PEG) was added as a hydrophilic material in the middle layer. Cur, as a model drug, was stored in the inner layer. RESULTS: Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) results and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) demonstrated that the cylindrical F2-F4 fibres had a clear core-shell structure. The model drug Cur in fibres was verified in an amorphous form during the X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns, and Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) results indicated good compatibility with the CA matrix. The water contact angle test showed that functional F2-F4 fibres had a high hydrophilic property in 120 s and the control sample F1 needed over 0.5 h to obtain hydrophilic property. In the initial stage of moisture intrusion into fibres, the quickly dissolved PEG component guided the water molecules and rapidly eroded the internal structure of functional fibres. The good hydrophilicity of F2-F4 fibres brought relatively excellent swelling rate around 4600%. Blank outer layer of functional F2 fibres with 1% PEG created an exciting opportunity for providing a 96 h sustained-release drug profile, while F3 and F4 fibres with over 3% PEG provided a 12 h modified drug release profile to eliminate tailing-off effect. CONCLUSION: Here, the functional F2-F4 fibres had been successfully produced by using the advanced modified triaxial electrospinning nanotechnology with different polymer matrices. The simple strategy in this work has remarkable potential to manipulate hydrophilicity and sustained release of drug carriers, meantime it can also enrich the preparation approaches of functional nanomaterials.

Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) is an ultra-sensitive and rapid technique that is able to significantly enhance the Raman signals of analytes absorbed on functional substrates by orders of magnitude. Recently, semiconductor-based SERS substrates have shown rapid progress due to their great cost-effectiveness, stability and biocompatibility. In this work, three types of faceted Co3O4 microcrystals with dominantly exposed {100} facets, {111} facets and co-exposed {100}-{111} facets (denoted as C-100, C-111 and C-both, respectively) are utilized as SERS substrates to detect the rhodamine 6G (R6G) molecule and nucleic acids (adenine and cytosine). C-100 exhibited the highest SERS sensitivity among these samples, and the lowest detection limits (LODs) to R6G and adenine can reach 10-7 M. First-principles density functional theory (DFT) simulations further unveiled a stronger photoinduced charge transfer (PICT) in C-100 than in C-111. This work provides new insights into the facet-dependent SERS for semiconductor materials.

Patulin (PAT) is a common mycotoxin in the food industry, and is found in apple products in particular. Consumption of food or feed contaminated with PAT can cause acute or chronic toxicity in humans and animals. Lactiplantibacillus plantarum CCFM1287 is a probiotic strain that effectively degrades PAT in PBS and food systems. In this study, it was found that the concentration of PAT (50 mg/L) in MRS medium decreased by 85.09% during the first stages of CCFM1287 growth, and this change was consistent with the first-order degradation kinetic model. Meanwhile, the regulation of oxidative stress by L. plantarum CCFM1287 in response to PAT exposure and metabolic changes that occur during PAT degradation were investigated. The degree of intracellular damage was attenuated after 16 h of exposure compared to 8 h. Meanwhile, metabolomic data showed that 30 and 29 significantly different metabolites were screened intracellularly in the strain after 8 h and 16 h of PAT stress at 50 mg/L, respectively. The results of pathway enrichment analysis suggested that the purine metabolic pathway was significantly enriched at both 8 h and 16 h. However, as is consistent with the performance of the antioxidant system, the changes in Lactiplantibacillus diminished with increasing time of PAT exposure. Therefore, this study helps to further explain the mechanism of PAT degradation by L. plantarum CCFM1287.

Metabolic syndrome (MetS) has been associated with osteoarthritis (OA). Leptin, which is one of the markers of MetS, has been associated with OA pathophysiology. This study aimed to provide an update on the association between MetS and OA and on the potential role of leptin in OA. In this review, we summarized the current knowledge of the association between MetS and OA and updated the evidence on the potential role of leptin in OA. Clinical studies have investigated the epidemiologic association between MetS or its components and OA. Results suggested strong epidemiologic associations between MetS and OA, especially in the Asian population. Animal studies also indicated that metabolic dysregulation may lead to OA pathogenesis. The systemic role of MetS in OA pathophysiology is associated with obesity-related inflammation, the beneficial role of n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids and deleterious role of cholesterol, physical inactivity, hypertension-induced subchondral ischemia, dyslipidemia-induced ectopic lipid deposition in chondrocytes, hyperglycemia-induced local effects of oxidative stress and advanced glycation end-products, low-grade systemic inflammation, and obesity-related adipokines by inducing the expression of proinflammtory factors. Leptin levels in serum/plasma and synovial fluid were associated with joint pain, radiographic progression, bone formation biomarkers, cartilage volume, knee OA incidence, and total joint arthroplasty in OA patients. Elevated leptin expression and increased effect of leptin on infrapatellar fat pad, synovium, articular cartilage, and bone were also involved in the pathogenesis of OA. Current knowledge indicates a convincing epidemiologic association between MetS and OA, especially in the Asian population. Animal studies have also shown that metabolic dysregulation may lead to OA pathogenesis. Accumulating evidence suggests that leptin may play a potential role in OA pathogenesis. Therefore, leptin and its receptor may be an emerging target for intervention in metabolic-associated OA.

BACKGROUND: The incidence of patient dissatisfaction due to anterior knee pain (AKP) and patellar crepitus after total knee arthroplasty (TKA) remains a concern. However, it has been shown that improvements in the femoral component of traditional prostheses could reduce these instances of pain in the case of TKA performed with patellar resurfacing. This study aims to investigate whether TKA without patellar resurfacing can also benefit from the aforementioned femoral component modification in reducing AKP and patellar crepitus post-TKA. METHODS: Sixty-two patients (85 knees) who underwent TKA using the modern prosthesis and 62 age- and sex-matched patients (90 knees) fitted with the traditional prosthesis were enrolled in this study. The occurrence of AKP and patellar crepitus as well as the Knee Society Score (KSS) were consequently recorded, and the data was analyzed in order to determine whether there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups. RESULTS: The incidence of AKP was significantly lower in the study group compared with the control group at the 3-month and 1-year follow-ups (4.7% vs. 13.3% [p = 0.048] and 3.5% vs. 13.3% [p = 0.021], respectively). In addition, the incidence of patellar crepitus was also significantly lower in the study group compared with the control group at the 3-month and 1-year follow-ups (15.3% vs. 34.4% [p = 0.004] and 10.6% vs. 28.9% [p = 0.002], respectively). There was no significant difference in the KSS between the two groups. CONCLUSIONS: These results revealed that TKA without patellar resurfacing will indeed benefit from the modified femoral implant design in reducing AKP and patellar crepitus, a finding that may be beneficial to surgeons who select implants for their patients when patellar resurfacing is not planned or not possible due to other reasons.

RESUMEN

Two new derivatives of cytotoxic substance BE-52211, designed as BE-52211D (1) and BE-52211E (2), were isolated from the fermentation broth of the strain Streptomyces sp. HS-NF-813. Their structures were determined by 1D and 2D NMR techniques, ESI-MS and comparison with data from the literature. The absolute stereochemistry of 1 was elucidated by NMR data of the Mosher ester derivatives. Compounds 1 and 2 showed moderate cytotoxic activity against three human tumor cell lines.

Objective: To evaluate the expression levels of adipokines in the synovium and infrapatellar fat pad (IPFP) in osteoarthritis (OA) patients with and without metabolic syndrome (MetS). Methods: 120 female patients with OA were enrolled, and 60 healthy women matched body mass index, age, and sex, served as controls. Adipokines levels were measured using a sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay of the serum of all participants and synovial fluid (SF) of OA patients. Local expression levels of adipokines in the synovium and IPFP were examined by immunohistochemical analysis. The amount of adipokine proteins was analyzed using Western blot, and adipokine mRNA expressions were determined via quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). Results: Serum leptin levels were significantly higher in the non-MetS-OA group than those in controls (7.97 vs. 4.24 ng/ml, p< 0.001), and even higher leptin levels were found in the MetS-OA group (19.05 ng/ml; p< 0.001 for both). Serum adiponectin levels were significantly lower in the MetS-OA group than those in controls (8.09 vs. 10.07 µg/ml, respectively; p= 0.001). The synovium and IPFP in the MetS-OA group secreted more leptin and less adiponectin than those in the non-MetS-OA group (Leptin: 5.32 vs. 1.28 in synovium, respectively; p= 0.028; 6.44 vs. 0.88 in IPFP, respectively; p= 0.017. Adiponectin: 1.12 vs. 0.12 in synovium, respectively; p= 0.042; 1.07 vs. 0.09 in IPFP, respectively; p= 0.027). Resistin expression levels in the serum, SF, and articular tissues were similar among the groups. Conclusions: Expressions of adipokines were different in the synovium and IPFP of OA patients with and without MetS.
