RESUMEN

Although localized haploid phasing can be achieved using long read genome sequencing without parental data, reliable chromosome-scale phasing remains a great challenge. Given that sperm is a natural haploid cell, single-sperm genome sequencing can provide a chromosome-wide phase signal. Due to the limitation of read length, current short-read-based single-sperm genome sequencing methods can only achieve SNP haplotyping and come with difficulties in detecting and haplotyping structural variations (SVs) in complex genomic regions. To overcome these limitations, we developed a long-read-based single-sperm genome sequencing method and a corresponding data analysis pipeline that can accurately identify crossover events and chromosomal level aneuploidies in single sperm and efficiently detect SVs within individual sperm cells. Importantly, without parental genome information, our method can accurately conduct de novo phasing of heterozygous SVs as well as SNPs from male individuals at the whole chromosome scale. The accuracy for phasing of SVs was as high as 98.59% using 100 single sperm cells, and the accuracy for phasing of SNPs was as high as 99.95%. Additionally, our method reliably enabled deduction of the repeat expansions of haplotype-resolved STRs/VNTRs in single sperm cells. Our method provides a new opportunity for studying haplotype-related genetics in mammals.

RESUMEN

PURPOSE: To investigate the value of three-dimensional ultrasound fusion imaging (3DUS FI) technique for guiding needle placement in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) thermal ablation. METHODS: A total of 57 patients with 60 HCCs with 3DUS FI-guided thermal ablation were retrospectively included in the study. 3DUS volume data of liver were acquired preoperatively by freehand scanning with the tumor and predetermined 5 mm ablative margin automatically segmented. Plan of needle placement was made through a predetermined simulated ablation zone to ensure a 5 mm ablative margin with the coverage rate toward tumor and ablative margin. With real-time ultrasound and 3DUS fusion imaging, ablation needles were placed according to the plan. After ablation, the ablative margin was immediately evaluated by contrast-enhanced ultrasound and 3DUS fusion imaging. The rate of adequate ablative margin, complete response (CR), local tumor progression (LTP), disease-free survival (DFS), and overall survival (OS) was evaluated. RESULTS: According to postoperative contrast-enhanced CT or MR imaging, the complete response rate was 100% (60/60), and 83% of tumors (30/36) achieved adequate ablative margin (>5 mm) three-dimensionally. During the follow-up period of 6.0-42.6 months, LTP occurred in 5 lesions, with 1- and 2-year LTP rates being 7.0% and 9.4%. The 1- and 2-year DFS rates were 76.1% and 65.6%, and 1- and 2-year OS rates were 98.1% and 94.0%. No major complications or ablation-related deaths were observed in any patients. CONCLUSIONS: Three-dimensional ultrasound fusion imaging technique may improve the needle placement of thermal ablation for HCC and reduce the rate of LTP.

Genome assembly has been benefited from long-read sequencing technologies with higher accuracy and higher continuity. However, most human genome assembly require large amount of DNAs from homogeneous cell lines without keeping cell heterogeneities, since cell heterogeneity could profoundly affect haplotype assembly results. Herein, using single-cell genome long-read sequencing technology (SMOOTH-seq), we have sequenced K562 and HG002 cells on PacBio HiFi and Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT) platforms and conducted de novo genome assembly. For the first time, we have completed the human genome assembly with high continuity (with NG50 of ∼2 Mb using 95 individual K562 cells) at single-cell levels, and explored the impact of different assemblers and sequencing strategies on genome assembly. With sequencing data from 30 diploid individual HG002 cells of relatively high genome coverage (average coverage ∼41.7%) on ONT platform, the NG50 can reach over 1.3 Mb. Furthermore, with the assembled genome from K562 single-cell dataset, more complete and accurate set of insertion events and complex structural variations could be identified. This study opened a new chapter on the practice of single-cell genome de novo assembly.

BACKGROUND: Little research has investigated sleep quality in dyadic interrelationships between persons with dementia (PWD) and family caregivers, particularly among immigrant ethnic minorities, such as Korean Americans. PURPOSE: The study aimed to describe lived experiences of sleep disturbances and sleep interrelationships between Korean American PWD and their family caregivers. METHODS: A descriptive qualitative design used semi-structured interviews with cohabitating PWD-caregiver dyads. RESULTS: Eleven Korean American dyads participated (PWD mean age: 82.7, SD=2.3; caregivers mean age: 69.1, SD=10.2). Major themes included (1) linked sleep disturbances between PWD and caregivers, (2) interrelationship in dyads, (3) language challenges within and outside the dyads, and (4) strategies that improve sleep quality for dyads. CONCLUSION: Findings demonstrated bidirectional influences in dyadic sleep disturbances, where caregiving reciprocally impacted PWD sleep as part of an interactional unit. Communication barriers and limited community resources posed challenges for these dyads. Future sleep interventions should consider culturally competent, dyadic approaches.

Tomato mottled mosaic virus (ToMMV) was first identified in tomato in Mexico (Li et al. 2013). It belongs to the genus Tobamovirus and family Virgaviridae, and is a positive-sense single-stranded RNA virus. The viral genome contains about 6400 nucleotides, encoding four proteins, including the 126 K protein, 183 K protein, movement protein (MP) and coat protein (CP) (Tu et al. 2021). ToMMV mainly poses a serious risk to solanaceous crops. The virus-infected plants appear stunted growth and top necrosis, and the disease leaves show mottled, shrinkage and necrosis symptoms, resulting in a significant decline in tomato fruit yield and quality (Li et al. 2017; Tu et al. 2021). Chinese snake gourd (Trichosanthes kirilowii Maxim) is a perennial climbing herb in the family Cucurbitaceae, and the fruit, seed, peel and root can all be used as traditional Chinese medicine. In May of 2021, twenty-seven symptomless seedlings (developed from tissue culture plantlets) were randomly collected from nursery in Fengyang, Anhui Province. Total RNA of each sample was extracted, and RT-PCR was performed using degenerate tobamovirus primers Tob-Uni1 (5'-ATTTAAGTGGASGGAAAAVCACT-3') and Tob-Uni2 (5'-GTYGTT GATGAGTTCRTGGA-3') (Letschert et al. 2002). Amplicons with expected size were obtained from 6 of 27 samples and sequenced. Alignment results showed that the nucleotide sequence identities ranged from 98.7 to 100% with all ToMMV isolates deposited in NCBI GenBank. Then, ToMMV coat protein (CP) gene was amplified using specific primers CP-F (5'-ATGTCTTACGCTATTACTT CTCCG-3') and CP-R (5'-TTAGGACGCTGGCGCAGAAG-3'). The CP fragment was obtained and sequenced. Sequence alignment indicated that CP sequence of isolate FY (GenBank accession no. ON924176) exhibited a 100% identity with ToMMV isolate LN (MN853592.1). The anti-ToMMV polyclonal antibody (PAb) was prepared by the author (S.L.) by immunizing rabbit with purified virus from Nicotiana benthamiana, and serological tests (dot-enzyme linked immunosorbent assay, Dot-ELISA) of RNA-positive T. kirilowii leaf samples using anti-ToMMV PAb were also positive. To fulfill a Koch's postulate, a pure culture of ToMMV was obtained from N. benthamiana using infectious cDNA clone of ToMMV (Tu et al. 2021), and then healthy T. kirilowii plants were mechanically inoculated with a prepared inoculum from ToMMV-infected N. benthamiana, as described previously (Sui et al. 2017). T. kirilowii seedlings showed chlorosis and leaf tip necrosis symptoms at 10 and 20 day post-inoculation respectively, and ToMMV infection on symptomatic plants was also verified by RT-PCR detection using primers CP-F and CP-R. These results demonstrated that T. kirilowii is a host of ToMMV under natural conditions, which might threaten the production of this medicinal plant. The seedlings from nursery appeared to be asymptomatic, but the plants showed chlorosis and necrosis symptoms after indoor inoculation. In qRT-PCR analysis, viral accumulation level in greenhouse-inoculated plants was a 25.6-fold of that in field-collected samples, which may be the reason of different symptom expression between field samples and inoculated samples. ToMMV has now been detected from the solanaceous (tomato, pepper and eggplant) and leguminous (pea) crops in the field (Li et al. 2014; Ambrós et al. 2017; Zhang et al. 2022). To our knowledge, this is the first report of natural infection of ToMMV in T. kirilowii as well as its natural infection on Cucurbitaceae plants.

Polysaccharides are promising biomolecules with lowtoxicity and diverse bioactivities in food processing and clinical drug development. However, an essential prerequisite for their applications is the fine structure characterization. Due to the complexity of polysaccharide structure, partial degradation is a powerful tool for fine structure analysis, which can effectively provide valid information on the structure of backbone and branching glycosidic fragments of complex polysaccharides. This review aims to conclude current methods of partial degradation employed for polysaccharide structural characterization, discuss the molecular mechanisms, and describe the molecular structure and solution properties of degraded polysaccharides. In addition, the effects of polysaccharide degradation on the conformational relationships between the molecular structure and bioactivities, such as antioxidant, antitumor, and immunomodulatory activities, are also discussed. Finally, we summarize the prospects and current challenges for the partial degradation of polysaccharides. This review will be of great value for the scientific elucidation of polysaccharide fine structures and potential applications.

PURPOSE: To investigate the value of three-dimensional ultrasound fusion imaging (3DUS-FI) in real-time guiding needle placement by phantom models and in vivo simulations. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Two radiologists (beginner and expert) performed needle placement using two-dimensional ultrasound (2DUS) and 3DUS-FI, respectively. In the phantom study, single-needle placement was performed by puncturing the center point of each ball and assessed based on the specimen length. Multiple-needles placement was performed by placing three needles in each ball, and their locations were confirmed by computed tomography, and assessed based on the distance deviation between needles. In the in vivo simulation study, simulated-needle placement was performed by placing a virtual ablation needle in each liver tumor and assessed by the simulated ablative cover rate and margin. RESULTS: Specimen length was significantly longer with 3DUS-FI in the beginner, whereas no significant difference was observed in the expert (2DUS vs. 3DUS-FI: beginner, 14.60 ± 2.60 mm vs. 16.25 ± 1.38 mm, p = .017; expert, 16.78 ± 1.40 mm vs. 16.95 ± 1.15 mm, p = .668). Distance deviation between needles was significantly smaller with 3DUS-FI (2DUS vs. 3DUS-FI: beginner, 25.06 ± 16.07 mm vs. 3.72 ± 1.99 mm, p < .001; expert, 11.70 ± 7.79 mm vs. 2.89 ± 1.52 mm, p < .001). The simulated ablative cover rate and margin were significantly larger with 3DUS-FI for the beginner, whereas only the latter was significantly larger for the expert (2DUS vs. 3DUS-FI: beginner, 73.55 ± 8.73% vs. 81.38 ± 11.84%, p = .001, 0.82 ± 0.97 mm vs. 2.65 ± 1.23 mm, p < .001; expert, 78.60 ± 9.91% vs. 83.24 ± 11.69%, p = .059; 1.65 ± 1.15 mm vs. 2.95 ± 1.13 mm, p < .001). CONCLUSIONS: 3DUS-FI is useful for real-time guiding precise needle placement and may be further use to improve the efficacy of liver thermal ablation.

This study examined parental depression and parental reflective functioning (PRF) as predictors of parental proficiency in relational savoring (RS), the association between RS proficiency and a marker of children's physiological self-regulation, respiratory sinus arrhythmia (RSA), during a stressor, and indirect effects of parental depression and PRF on children's RSA via parents' RS. At Time 1 (T1), parents of 8- to 12-year-old children (N = 139) reported on their depressive symptoms and completed a parenting interview, coded for PRF. After 1.5 years (Time 2; T2), parents savored a positive relational memory that involved their children, which was coded for savoring proficiency. Children's RSA was measured during a stressful task (a series of impossible puzzles). Depressive symptoms (inversely) and PRF (positively) were associated with RS proficiency. Higher parental RS proficiency was associated with children's higher mean levels of RSA during the stressor. Indirect effects models supported that T2 RS proficiency mediated the negative association between parental T1 depressive symptoms and children's T2 RSA, and between T1 PRF and children's T2 RSA. We discuss these findings in terms of implications for parents' emotion regulation, children's emotion regulation, children's mental health, and intervention.

Caregivers of persons with dementia (PWDs) were socially isolated with little support during the COVID-19 pandemic "Stay-At-Home" order in the United States. To enhance social and emotional connection for diverse caregivers, a culturally/linguistically appropriate telephone intervention provided compassionate listening, mindful breathing, and COVID-19 safety education. The study purpose was to understand caregiving challenges and to evaluate the intervention for caregivers during the early pandemic using a qualitative approach. Twenty-three caregivers participated in the intervention provided by bilingual research assistants for 3 months. Call logs were used to describe the caregivers' dialogue. Thematic analysis identified (a) the challenges, including fear of coronavirus disease, providing around-the-clock care, and forced isolation and negative emotions; and (b) caregivers' experience with the intervention, including connecting with the outside, relief from emotional stress, reliable COVID-19 information, and reinformed caregiving skills. Results suggest that the telephone support was of benefit to diverse caregivers of PWDs during the pandemic by promoting social connection and reducing emotional distress.

Chronic ethanol consumption is a well-established independent risk factor for type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Recently, increasing studies have confirmed that excessive heavy ethanol exerts direct harmful effect on pancreatic ß-cell mass and function, which may be a mechanism of pancreatic ß-cell failure in T2DM. In this study, we evaluated the effect of Lentinan (LNT), an active ingredient purified from the bodies of Lentinus edodes, on pancreatic ß-cell apoptosis and dysfunction caused by ethanol and the possible mechanisms implicated. Functional studies reveal that LNT attenuates chronic ethanol consumption-induced impaired glucose metabolism in vivo. In addition, LNT ameliorates chronic ethanol consumption-induced ß-cell dysfunction, which is characterized by reduced insulin synthesis, defected insulin secretion and increased cell apoptosis. Furthermore, mechanistic assays suggest that LNT enhances ß-cell antioxidant capacity and ameliorates ethanol-induced oxidative stress by activating Nrf-2 antioxidant pathway. Our results demonstrated that LNT prevents ethanol-induced pancreatic ß-cell dysfunction and apoptosis, and therefore may be a potential pharmacological agent for preventing pancreatic ß-cell failure associated with T2DM and stress-induced diabetes.

BACKGROUND: Survivors of single ventricle heart disease must cope with the physical, neurodevelopmental, and psychosocial sequelae of their cardiac disease, which may also affect academic achievement and social relationships. The purpose of this study was to qualitatively examine the experiences of school and social relationships in adolescents with single ventricle heart disease. METHODS: A descriptive phenomenological methodology was employed, utilising semi-structured interviews. Demographic and clinical characteristics were obtained via chart review. RESULTS: Fourteen adolescents (aged 14 to 19 years) with single ventricle heart disease participated. Interviews ranged from 25 to 80 minutes in duration. Four themes emerged from the interviews, including "Don't assume": Pervasive ableism; "The elephant in the room": Uncertain future; "Everyone finds something to pick on": Bullying at school; "They know what I have been through": Social support. The overall essence generated from the data was "optimism despite profound uncertainty." CONCLUSIONS: Adolescents with single ventricle heart disease identified physical limitations and school challenges in the face of an uncertain health-related future. Despite physical and psychosocial limitations, most remained optimistic for the future and found activities that were congruent with their abilities. These experiences reflect "optimism despite profound uncertainty."

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the feasibility and efficacy of single-fiber laser ablation (LA) under ultrasound guidance and appropriate ablation modes in the treatment of selected metastatic lymph nodes of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) and benign cold thyroid nodules STUDY DESIGN/MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 18 patients (consisting of 8 patients with 18 metastatic lymph nodes of PTC and 10 patients with 10 benign cold thyroid nodules) each underwent one session of single-fiber LA under ultrasound guidance. On the basis of the sizes of the nodules, the ablation modes were chosen accordingly. The single-dot ablation mode was used in the nodules with three orthogonal diameters measuring no greater than 10 mm in diameter, with a dot, a level and an insertion. The double-dots overlapping ablation mode was used in the nodules with the largest diameters measuring greater than 10 mm (in which the nodules measured no more than 15 mm in diameter and with the other two perpendicular diameters measuring no greater than 10 mm in diameter) with two dots, a level and two insertions. The multiple levels and dots overlapping ablation mode was used in the nodules with the three orthogonal diameters all measuring larger than 10 mm, with multiple dots, levels and insertions. RESULTS: After 12 months of follow-up in the treated nodules of the metastatic lymph nodes of PTC and benign cold thyroid nodules, the mean baseline volumes decreased from 0.29 ± 0.12 to 0.03 ± 0.03 ml and 3.85 ± 0.64 to 1.1 ± 0.37 ml, respectively, and the mean volume reduction ratios (VRRs), which was calculated as {[(initial volume-final volume) × 100%]/initial volume}, were 90.3 ± 7.6% and 72 ± 5.8%, respectively. There were six ablative zones that completely disappeared, whereas the ablative zones that still existed presented as scar-like areas or small hyperechoic areas that were compatible with scar tissue among the 18 malignant nodules at the last follow-up. CONCLUSIONS: Single-fiber LA under ultrasound guidance, with the appropriate ablation modes, is feasible and effective for the treatment of selected metastatic lymph nodes of PTC and benign cold thyroid nodules. PURPOSE: The study aimed to examine how registered nurses (RNs) and paraprofessional home visitors (PHVs) work together as a team to care for underserved perinatal women in a coordinated home visitation program. DESIGN AND METHODS: Qualitative methods were used to understand the perspectives of three RNs and twenty PHVs who worked at MOMS Orange County, a community-based perinatal health program. Individual one-on-one interviews were administered with the RNs and focus groups with the PHVs. Qualitative content analysis was conducted to synthesize themes. RESULTS: RNs perceived themselves as educators, mentors, and supervisors. PHVs thought of themselves as supporters, coaches, and advocates. Interdependence and proactive communication were favorable characteristics of the relationship in which RNs trained PHVs to provide health education. The positive interactions between RNs and PHVs appeared to enhance the client-healthcare provider connection. CONCLUSIONS: Our study is one of the first to describe relationships and communication patterns among the healthcare team in a coordinated home visitation program in the United States. Future studies should examine how additional members of the team, including clients and healthcare providers, view their experiences with a home visitation program.

RESUMEN

An Emotional Health Curriculum (EHC) was developed to promote positive mental health in primarily Hispanic elementary school-aged children. In order to further expand the EHC, the mothers' experiences with the curriculum were examined. Eighteen mothers participated in two focus groups. Mothers reported that they valued this curriculum as a preventive program. Importantly, all mothers wished to extend their involvement to not only assisting their child in completing the curriculum homework but also attending a proposed parenting program. This study provides preliminary evidence that mothers embraced the EHC as an accessible community mental health service for their children and sought greater involvement.

RESUMEN

High rates of mental health problems in adolescents have been well documented; less is known about elementary school children in disadvantaged communities. We examined emotional and behavioral health needs in 202 third and fourth graders enrolled in a charter school in a largely Hispanic community. The child-reported Revised Child Anxiety and Depression Scale-25 and Teacher's Report Form were used to evaluate mental health needs as perceived by these children and their teachers. The prevalence of teacher-reported depression and child self-reported anxiety was 7.0% and 6.67%, respectively. Living in a single parent household was found to be a specific risk factor in that those children had higher rates of emotional and behavioral problems than children living with both parents. Evidence of higher depression and anxiety identified in this sample compared to national representative data suggests the need for development of culturally sensitive early prevention and intervention in this underserved community.

RESUMEN

A novel sapphire fiber-optic high-temperature sensor has been designed and fabricated based on blackbody radiation theory. Metallic molybdenum has been used as the film material to develop the blackbody cavity, owing to its relatively high melting point compared to that of sapphire. More importantly, the fabrication process for the blackbody cavity is simple, efficient, and economical. Thermal radiation emitted from such a blackbody cavity is transmitted via optical fiber to a remote place for detection. The operating principle, the sensor structure, and the fabrication process are described here in detail. The developed high-temperature sensor was calibrated through a calibration blackbody furnace at temperatures from 900°C to 1200°C and tested by a sapphire crystal growth furnace up to 1880°C. The experimental results of our system agree well with those from a commercial Rayteck MR1SCCF infrared pyrometer, and the maximum residual is approximately 5°C, paving the way for high-accuracy temperature measurement especially for extremely harsh environments.

Arsenic-contaminated water is a serious hazard for human health. Plankton plays a critical role in the fate and toxicity of arsenic in water by accumulation and biotransformation. Spirulina platensis (S. platensis), a typical plankton, is often used as a supplement or feed for pharmacy and aquiculture, and may introduce arsenic into the food chain, resulting in a risk to human health. However, there are few studies about how S. platensis biotransforms arsenic. In this study, we investigated arsenic biotransformation by S. platensis. When exposed to arsenite (As(III)), S. platensis accumulated arsenic up to 4.1mg/kg dry weight. After exposure to As(III), arsenate (As(V)) was the predominant species making up 64% to 86% of the total arsenic. Monomethylarsenate (MMA(V)) and dimethylarsenate (DMA(V)) were also detected. An arsenite S-adenosylmethionine methyltransferase from S. platensis (SpArsM) was identified and characterized. SpArsM showed low identity with other reported ArsM enzymes. The Escherichia coli AW3110 bearing SparsM gene resulted in As(III) methylation and conferring resistance to As(III). The in vitro assay showed that SpArsM exhibited As(III) methylation activity. DMA(V) and a small amount of MMA(V) were detected in the reaction system within 0.5hr. A truncated SpArsM derivative lacking the last 34 residues still had the ability to methylate As(III). The three single mutants of SpArsM (C59S, C186S, and C238S) abolished the capability of As(III) methylation, suggesting the three cysteine residues are involved in catalysis. We propose that SpArsM is responsible for As methylation and detoxification of As(III) and may contribute to As biogeochemistry.

The present study applied State Space Grid analysis to describe how preschooler-mother dyads co-regulate emotion in the Strange Situation. Second-to-second mother and child affect during pre-separation play (baseline) and the final reunion (post perturbation) episodes of the Strange Situation were coded for 80 dyads. Change in emotion co-regulation across the two Strange Situation episodes was examined with linear mixed models for groups with secure and insecure classifications. The groups did not differ at baseline. Change in content-specific emotion co-regulation but not content-free emotion co-regulation was found to be significantly different within and between groups. Both secure and insecure dyads reduced the time spent in positive interaction but increased the time in negative interaction across two episodes; the change in secure dyads was less pronounced than in the insecure dyads. After the separation, secure dyads had more positive interactions and fewer negative interactions compared to insecure dyads. Results highlight how secure dyads adapted to the stressful change, whereas insecure dyads were more reactive and less resilient to the stress of the study's brief imposed separation.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the application effect of Chinese medical clinical pathway for treating attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and to provide evidence for further improving clinical pathways. METHODS: Totally 270 ADHD children patients were recruited and treated at pediatrics clinics of 9 cooperative hospitals from December 2011 to December 2012. The treatment course for all was 3 months. Scores of attention deficit and hyperactivity rating scale, scores of behavior, Conners index of hyperactivity (CIH), and Chinese medical syndrome scores were compared between before and after treatment. The efficacy difference in various sexes, ages, and disease courses were evaluated by judging standards for Chinese medical syndrome and ADHD. RESULTS: Fifteen children patients who entered clinical pathway dropped out, and the rest 255 completed this trial. Compared with before treatment, total scores of attention deficit and hyperactivity rating scale, scores of attention deficit and hyperactivity rating scale, CIH, and Chinese medical syndrome scores obviously decreased (all P < 0.01). The total effective rate in disease efficacy was 87.8% (224/255 cases), and the total effective rate in Chinese medical syndrome curative effect was 87.5% (223/255 cases). The clinical curative effect was not influenced by age, gender, or course of disease when statistically analyzed from judging standards for Chinese medical syndrome or for disease efficacy. CONCLUSION: Intervention by Chinese medical clinical pathway could improve ADHD patients' symptoms, and its efficacy was not influenced by sex, age, or course of disease.

Under the dual-carbon goals, enhancing the green development level of logistics industry and realizing its low-carbon transformation are important issues that need to be solved urgently. Amidst the continuous escalation in the total energy consumption of the national logistics industry, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei (BTH) region has exhibited a favorable descending trajectory in this respect. It is necessary to investigate the underlying reasons. Based on the panel data from 2012 to 2021, the DEA and Malmquist index are employed to analyze the low-carbon logistics efficiency of the BTH region from both static and dynamic perspectives. Furthermore, the inefficiency analysis is conducted to identify the deficiencies of low-carbon logistics industry in this region. Results show that (1) from the static perspective, the development of low-carbon logistics industry in the BTH region is relatively unbalanced. Compared to Tianjin and Hebei, Beijing's low-carbon logistics efficiency is significantly lower, becoming the focal area for attention; (2) from the dynamic perspective, technological progress is the main reason for the fluctuation of total factor productivity in the BTH region and a constraining factor for further improvements; (3) from the results of inefficiency analysis, the forthcoming emphasis on low-carbon logistics in Beijing should be on optimizing the number of logistics practitioners, transportation efficiency, and energy efficiency. Economic output and energy efficiency are relatively vulnerable aspects in Tianjin and Hebei, respectively, warranting due consideration. The research results of this paper have important practical implications for better developing low-carbon logistics in the BTH region and leveraging its leading role nationwide.
