RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Citrus flower-green tea (CT) is a scented tea processed from green tea (GT) and fresh citrus flower, which is favored by consumers due to its potential health benefits and unique citrus flavor. This study evaluated the quality of CT and revealed the mechanism of its quality formation. RESULTS: The CT had a significant citrus flavor and a good antioxidant activity, and its sensory quality was superior to that of GT. Headspace solid-phase microextraction-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC-MS) analysis revealed that the scenting process resulted in a significant increase of alkenes such as ß-pinene, trans-ß-ocimene, α-farnesene, isoterpinolene, and γ-terpinene, as well as a significant decrease of alcohols such as α-terpineol, l-menthol, and linalool in CT in comparison with GT. Liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) analysis revealed that the levels of flavonoids (such as neohesperidin, hesperidin, tangeritin, hesperetin 5-O-glucoside, and nobiletin) and alkaloids (such as trigonelline and theobromine) in CT increased significantly after scenting process, while the levels of amino acids (such as valine and l-phenylalanine) and organic acids (such as ascorbic acid) decreased significantly. CONCLUSION: These observations showed that the scenting process promoted the absorption of aroma from citrus flowers by GT and the changes in its non-volatile metabolites, leading to the formation of citrus flavor quality in CT. © 2024 Society of Chemical Industry.

RESUMEN

The conventional proportional-gain-feedback link can only obtain the smallest effective damping region (EDR) due to the control delay among all the active damping methods regarding the capacitor current feedback. The digitally controlled system tends to be unstable when the system resonant frequency reaches the critical frequency caused by the grid impedance variation. To weaken the adverse effect on the system caused by the control delay, phase-lead feedback links are applied along the feedback path to provide phase compensation. By taking the simplicity and reliability of the feedback links into account, this paper proposes an alternative to an ideal differentiator, which consists of the Tustin discrete form of 's' and a digital low-pass filter. This proposed method has an identical phase frequency characteristic as an ideal differentiator but a better magnitude frequency characteristic, and its EDR can reach [0, fs/3]. The system stability analysis is conducted under different resonant frequencies, and under the condition of a weak grid, the co-design approach of the active damper and digital controller is presented. Finally, the experimental results are shown to verify the proposed method.

RESUMEN

Nonlinear optical limiting (OL) properties of carboxyl-functionalized Ti3C2 nanosheets (COOH-MXene) were studied using the nanosecond laser Z-scan technology. COOH-MXene showed excellent broadband OL properties with OL thresholds of 0.34 J/cm2 at 532 nm and 0.58 J/cm2 at 1064 nm, and the OL mechanism was mainly attributed to the reverse saturable absorption effect. Femtosecond time-resolved transient absorption measurements were used to clarify the ultrafast carrier dynamics in the OL process, and the results revealed that excited states absorption (ESA) in MXene was enhanced by introducing more carboxyl group terminations. When COOH-MXene was irradiated by laser pulses, excited electrons in the conduction band of MXene could transfer to the carboxyl groups and induce the ESA in the surface functional groups, resulting in the excellent OL property of COOH-MXene.

RESUMEN

The nonlinear optical limiting (OL) property of tin phthalocyanine porous organic frameworks (Sn-Pc-POFs) dispersion in the nanosecond regime was studied, which showed excellent dispersibility and stability as well as a low OL threshold. To clarify the nonlinear optical response mechanisms in the material, the energy level structure of Sn-Pc-POFs was simulated using the density functional theory calculation, and the photoinduced carrier dynamics was studied using femtosecond time-resolved transient absorption spectroscopy. The results indicated that the large absorption cross section and long lifetime of the excited state were responsible for the excellent OL property of the material.

RESUMEN

Metallic back reflectors has been used for thin-film and wafer-based solar cells for very long time. Nonetheless, the metallic mirrors might not be the best choices for photovoltaics. In this work, we show that solar cells with all-dielectric reflectors can surpass the best-configured metal-backed devices. Theoretical and experimental results all show that superior large-angle light scattering capability can be achieved by the diffuse medium reflectors, and the solar cell J-V enhancement is higher for solar cells using all-dielectric reflectors. Specifically, the measured diffused scattering efficiency (D.S.E.) of a diffuse medium reflector is >0.8 for the light trapping spectral range (600nm-1000nm), and the measured reflectance of a diffuse medium can be as high as silver if the geometry of embedded titanium oxide(TiO(2)) nanoparticles is optimized. Moreover, the diffuse medium reflectors have the additional advantage of room-temperature processing, low cost, and very high throughput. We believe that using all-dielectric solar cell reflectors is a way to approach the thermodynamic conversion limit by completely excluding metallic dissipation.

RESUMEN

A novel, simple and low-temperature ultrasonic spray method was developed to fabricate the multi-walled carbon-nanotubes (MWCNTs) based extended-gate field-effect transistors (EGFETs) as the pH sensor. With an acid-treated process, the chemically functionalized two-dimensional MWCNT network could provide plenty of functional groups which exhibit hydrophilic property and serve as hydrogen sensing sites. For the first time, the EGFET using a MWCNT structure could achieve a wide sensing rage from pH = 1 to pH = 13. Furthermore, the pH sensitivity and linearity values of the CNT pH-EGFET devices were enhanced to 51.74 mV/pH and 0.9948 from pH = 1 to pH = 13 while the sprayed deposition reached 50 times. The sensing properties of hydrogen and hydroxyl ions show significantly dependent on the sprayed deposition times, morphologies, crystalline and chemical bonding of acid-treated MWCNT. These results demonstrate that the MWCNT-EGFETs are very promising for the applications in the pH and biomedical sensors.

RESUMEN

A technigal with the polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) solution infiltrated into the SiOx-coated CNTAs has been utilized to directly transfer the CNTAs away from the silicon substrate. The oxide coating layer was utilized to protect the morpholgy of as-grown patterned vertical aligmed carbon nanotube (CNTs) arrays. The high density plasma reactive ions etching (HDP-RIE) system was used to make the CNTs emerge from the surface of the flexible substrate and modify the crystallines of CNTs. After the protecting oxide was HDP-RIE-processed for 8 min, the emission current properties were enhanced to be 1.03 V/microm and 1.43 V/microm, respectively, for the turn-on field and the threshold field, as compared with 1.25 V/microm and 1.59 V/microm for the as-grown CNTs, accordingly. The Field Emission (FE) enhancement after dry etching could be attributed to the open-ended structures and better crystalline.

RESUMEN

The deep drawing behavior of metal-composite sandwich plates, or fiber-metal laminates, in which aluminum or steel sheets are used as the face layer and composite materials are used as the core layer, is discussed in this work to find the workpieces without fractures and wrinkles. Two types of aluminum, 1050 and 6061, are considered their suitability as face sheets. The preheat effect of aluminum 6061 on formability is also investigated. When steel sheets are used, the effect of blank-holder pressure is included. In addition, to understand the deformation of fabric composite, pure composite laminates are deep drawn. The results of composite laminates show that after drawing, the weft and warp lines are shorter than the other radial lines, causing the specific deformed shape and the variation of the fiber intersection angle. For Al-composite sandwich plates, fractures and wrinkles are easy to occur. Even though the fracture and wrinkle conditions are released with the increase in preheating temperature of aluminum 6061, it may be not enough. For the deep drawing of the steel-composite sandwich plates, in which fractures are avoided, the increase of blank-holder pressure could reduce the wrinkle number. Hence, good quality workpieces without fracture and wrinkle could be obtained when the blank-holder pressure is high enough.

RESUMEN

InP/ZnS core/shell quantum dots have shown extraordinary application potential in photocatalysis. In this work, we demonstrated by ultrafast spectroscopy that the electron transfer ability of InP/ZnSe/ZnS core/shell/shell quantum dots was better than that of InP/ZnS quantum dots, because the introduction of ZnSe midshell resulted in improved passivation and greater exciton delocalization. The temperature-dependent PL spectra indicate that the exciton-phonon coupling strength and exciton binding energy of InP/ZnSe/ZnS quantum dots are smaller than those of InP/ZnS quantum dots. Further photocatalytic hydrogen evolution testing revealed that the photocatalytic activity of InP/ZnSe/ZnS quantum dots was significantly higher than that of InP/ZnS quantum dots, and InP/ZnSe/ZnS quantum dots even demonstrated improved stability. This research deepened our understanding of carrier dynamics and charge separation of InP/ZnSe/ZnS quantum dots, especially highlighting the application potential of InP/ZnSe/ZnS quantum dots in photocatalytic hydrogen evolution.

RESUMEN

The excellent performance of InP/ZnSe/ZnS core/shell/shell quantum dots (CSS-QDs) in light-emitting diodes benefits from the introduction of a ZnSe midshell. Understanding the changes of ultrafast carrier dynamics caused by the ZnSe midshell is important for their optoelectronic applications. Herein, we have compared the ultrafast carrier dynamics in CSS-QDs and InP/ZnS core/shell QDs (CS-QDs) using femtosecond transient absorption spectroscopy. The results show that the ZnSe midshell intensifies the electron delocalization and prolongs the in-band relaxation time of electrons from 238 fs to 350 fs, and that of holes from hundreds of femtoseconds to 1.6 ps. We also found that the trapping time caused by deep defects increased from 25.6 ps to 76 ps, and there were significantly reduced defect emissions in CSS-QDs. Moreover, the ZnSe midshell leads to a significantly increased density of higher-energy hole states above the valence band-edge, which may reduce the probability of Auger recombination caused by the positive trion. This work enhances our understanding of the excellent performance of the CSS-QDs applied to light-emitting diodes, and is likely to be helpful for the further optimization and design of optoelectronic devices based on the CSS-QDs.

RESUMEN

Utilization of triplet excitons, which generally emit poorly, is always fundamental to realize highly efficient organic light-emitting diodes (LEDs). While triplet harvest and energy transfer via electron exchange between triplet donor and acceptor are fully understood in doped organic phosphorescence and delayed fluorescence systems, the utilization and energy transfer of triplet excitons in quasi-two-dimensional (quasi-2D) perovskite are still ambiguous. Here, we use an orange-phosphorescence-emitting ultrathin organic layer to probe triplet behavior in the sky-blue-emitting quasi-2D perovskite. The delicate white LED architecture enables a carefully tailored Dexter-like energy-transfer mode that largely harvests the triplet excitons in quasi-2D perovskite. Our white organic-inorganic LEDs achieve maximum forward-viewing external quantum efficiency of 8.6% and luminance over 15 000 cd m-2, exhibiting a significant efficiency enhancement versus the corresponding sky-blue perovskite LED (4.6%). The efficient management of energy transfer between excitons in quasi-2D perovskite and Frenkel excitons in the organic layer opens the door to fully utilizing excitons for white organic-inorganic LEDs.

RESUMEN

This work demonstrates, for the first time, an all-optically controllable distributed feedback (DFB) laser based on a dye-doped holographic polymer-dispersed liquid crystal (DDHPDLC) grating with a photoisomerizable dye. Intensity of the lasing emission can be reduced and increased by raising the irradiation intensity of one CW circularly-polarized green beam and the irradiation time of one CW circularly-polarized red beam, respectively. The all-optical controllability of the lasing emission is owing to the green-beam-induced isothermal nematic-->isotropic and red-beam-induced isothermal isotropic-->nematic phase transitions of the LCs via trans-->cis and cis-->trans back isomerizations of the azo-dye, respectively, in the LC-droplet-rich regions of the grating. The former (latter) mechanism can reduce (increase) the index modulation and thereby the coupling strength in the DFB grating, resulting in the decay (rise) of the lasing emission. Thermal effect is excluded from possible mechanisms causing such an optical controllability of the lasing emission.

RESUMEN

For the first time, the thermal compression method is applied to effectively enhance the electrical conductivity of carbon nanotube thin films (CNTFs). With the assistance of heat and pressure on the CNTFs, the neighbor multiwalled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) start to link with each other, and then these separated CNTs are twined into a continuous film while the compression force, duration, and temperature are quite enough for the reaction. Under the compression temperature of 400°C and the compression force of 100 N for 50 min, the sheet resistance can be reduced from 17 to 0.9 k Ω/sq for the CNTFs with a thickness of 230 nm. Moreover, the effects of compression temperature and the duration of thermal compression on the conductivity of CNTF are also discussed in this work.
