RESUMEN

A fully homomorphic encryption system enables computation on encrypted data without the necessity for prior decryption. This facilitates the seamless establishment of a secure quantum channel, bridging the server and client components, and thereby providing the client with secure access to the server's substantial computational capacity for executing quantum operations. However, traditional homomorphic encryption systems lack scalability, programmability, and stability. In this Letter, we experimentally demonstrate a proof-of-concept implementation of a homomorphic encryption scheme on a compact quantum chip, verifying the feasibility of using photonic chips for quantum homomorphic encryption. Our work not only provides a solution for circuit expansion, addressing the longstanding challenge of scalability while significantly reducing the size of quantum network infrastructure, but also lays the groundwork for the development of highly sophisticated quantum fully homomorphic encryption systems.

RESUMEN

Background: Endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) sonographic features help identify benign/malignant lymph nodes while conducting transbronchial needle aspiration (TBNA). This study aims to identify risk factors for malignancy based on EBUS sonographic features and to estimate the risk of malignancy in lymph nodes by constructing a nomogram. Methods: 1082 lymph nodes from 625 patients were randomly enrolled in training (n = 760) and validation (n = 322) sets. The subgroup of EBUS-TBNA postoperative negative lymph nodes (n = 317) was randomly enrolled in a training (n = 224) set and a validation (n = 93) set. Logistic regression analysis was used to identify the EBUS features of malignant lymph nodes. A nomogram was formulated using the EBUS features in the training set and later validated in the validation set. Results: Multivariate analysis revealed that long-axis, short-axis, echogenicity, fusion, and central hilar structure (CHS) were the independent predictors of malignant lymph nodes. Based on these risk factors, a nomogram was constructed. Both the training and validation sets of 5 EBUS features nomogram showed good discrimination, with area under the curve values of 0.880 (sensitivity = 0.829 and specificity = 0.807) and 0.905 (sensitivity = 0.819 and specificity = 0.857). Subgroup multivariate analysis revealed that long-axis, echogenicity, and CHS were the independent predictors of malignancy outcomes of EBUS-TBNA postoperative negative lymph nodes. Based on these risk factors, a nomogram was constructed. Both the training and validation sets of 3 EBUS features nomogram showed good discrimination, with the area under the curve values of 0.890 (sensitivity = 0.882 and specificity = 0.786) and 0.834 (sensitivity = 0.930 and specificity = 0.636). Conclusions: Our novel scoring system based on two nomograms can be utilized to predict malignant lymph nodes.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: The relationship between serum total cholesterol (TC) and triglyceride (TG) levels and mortality in maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients remains inconsistent. We aimed to explore the individual and combined association of TC and TG levels with the risk of mortality in Chinese MHD patients. METHODS: 1036 MHD patients were enrolled in this multicenter, prospective cohort study. The serum levels of total cholesterol and triglycerides were measured at baseline. The primary outcome was all-cause mortality and secondary outcome was cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality. RESULTS: During a median follow-up duration of 4.4 years (IQR= 2.0-7.9 years), 549 (53.0%) patients died, and 297 (28.7%) deaths were attributed to CVD. Compared with patients with TC levels in the first three quartiles (<182.5 mg/dL), a significantly higher risk of all-cause mortality was found in participants with TC in the fourth quartile (hazard ratio [HR], 1.43; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.17-1.76). However, a significantly lower risk of all-cause mortality was observed in participants with TG in the fourth quartile (≥193.9 mg/dL) (HR, 0.78; 95%CI: 0.63-0.98), compared with participants with TG in the first three quartiles. Similar trends were observed in CVD mortality. When analyzed jointly, patients with lower TC (<182.5 mg/dL) and higher TG (≥193.9 mg/dL) levels had the lowest risk of all-cause mortality and CVD mortality. Conclusions: In MHD patients in southern China, higher TC levels were associated with higher risk of mortality, while higher TG levels were related to lower risk of mortality. Patients with lower TC and higher TG levels had the best survival prognosis.

RESUMEN

The nanobore fiber (NBF) is a promising nanoscale optofluidic platform due to its long nanochannel and unique optical properties. However, so far, the applications of NBF have been based only on its original fiber geometry without any extra functionalities, in contrast with various telecom fiber devices, which may limit its wide applications. Here, we provide the first, to the best of our knowledge, demonstration of NBF-based fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) introduced by either the femtosecond (fs) laser direct writing technique or the ultraviolet (UV) laser phase mask technique. Moreover, the FBG fabricated via the UV laser was optimized, achieving a high reflectivity of 96.89% and simultaneously preserving the open nanochannel. The NBF-based FBGs were characterized in terms of temperature variation and the infiltration of different liquids, and they showed high potential for nanofluidic applications.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To analyze and explore the risk factors for neurological symptoms in patients with purely hepatic Wilson's disease (WD) at diagnosis. METHODS: This retrospective study was conducted at the First Affiliated Hospital of the Guangdong Pharmaceutical University on 68 patients with purely hepatic WD aged 20.6 ± 7.2 years. The physical examinations, laboratory tests, color Doppler ultrasound of the liver and spleen, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the brain were performed. RESULTS: The elevated alanine transaminase (ALT) and aspartate transaminase (AST) levels and 24-h urinary copper level were higher in the purely hepatic WD who developed neurological symptoms (NH-WD) group than those in the purely hepatic WD (H-WD) group. Adherence to low-copper diet, and daily oral doses of penicillamine (PCA) and zinc gluconate (ZG) were lower in the NH-WD group than those in the H-WD group. Logistic regression analysis showed that insufficient doses of PCA and ZG were associated with the development of neurological symptoms in patients with purely hepatic WD at diagnosis. CONCLUSION: The development of neurological symptoms in patients with purely hepatic WD was closely associated with insufficient doses of PCA and ZG, and the inferior efficacy of copper-chelating agents. During the course of anti-copper treatment, the patient's medical status and the efficacy of copper excretion should be closely monitored.

RESUMEN

Carbon-based materials have been studied for their antimicrobial properties. Previously, most antimicrobial studies are investigated with suspended nanoparticles in a liquid medium. Most works are often carried out with highly ordered pyrolytic graphite. These materials are expensive and are not viable for mass use on high-touch surfaces. Additionally, highly antimicrobial silver nanoparticles are often incorporated onto substrates by chemical reduction. At times, harmful chemicals are used. In this work, low-cost graphite pencils are mechanically exfoliated and transferred onto Si substrates. The sparsely-covered graphite flakes are treated by either plasma O2or UV irradiation. Subsequently, Ag is photo reduced in the presence of UV onto selected graphite flake samples. It is found that graphite flake surface topography and defects are dependent on the treatment process. High surface roughness and (defects density,ID/IG) are induced by plasma O2follows by UV and pristine graphite flake as follows: 6.45 nm (0.62), 4.96 nm (0.5), 3.79 nm (0.47). Antimicrobial tests withE. colireveal high killing efficiency by photoreduced Ag-on-graphite flake. The reversible effect of Ag leaching can be compensated by repeating the photoreduction process. This work proposes that UV treatment is a promising technique over that of plasma O2in view that the latter treated surface could repel bacteria resulting in lower bacteria-killing efficiency.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: The optimal width of resection margin (RM) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains controversial. This study aimed to investigate the value of imaging tumor capsule (ITC) and imaging tumor size (ITS) in guiding RM width for patients with HCC. METHODS: Patients who underwent hepatectomy for HCC in our center were retrospectively reviewed. ITC (complete/incomplete) and ITS (≤ 3 cm/> 3 cm) were assessed by preoperative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Using subgroup analyses based on ITC and ITS, the impact of RM width [narrow RM (< 5 mm)/wide RM (≥ 5 mm)] on recurrence-free survival (RFS), overall survival (OS), and RM recurrence was analyzed. RESULTS: A total of 247 patients with solitary HCC were included. ITC and ITS were independent predictors for RFS and OS in the entire cohort. In patients with ITS ≤ 3 cm, neither ITC nor RM width showed a significant impact on prognosis, and the incidence of RM recurrence was comparable between the narrow RM and wide RM groups (15.6% vs. 4.3%, P = 0.337). In patients with ITS > 3 cm and complete ITC, the narrow RM group exhibited comparable RFS, OS, and incidence of RM recurrence with the wide RM group (P = 0.606, 0.916, and 0.649, respectively). However, in patients with ITS > 3 cm and incomplete ITC, the wide RM group showed better RFS and OS and a lower incidence of RM recurrence compared with the narrow RM group (P = 0.037, 0.018, and 0.046, respectively). CONCLUSIONS: As MRI-based preoperative markers, conjoint analysis of ITC with ITS aids in determining RM width for solitary HCC patients. Narrow RM is applicable in patients with ITS ≤ 3 cm regardless of ITC status and in those with ITS > 3 cm and complete ITC. Wide RM is preferred in those with ITS > 3 cm and incomplete ITC.

RESUMEN

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play an important role in regulating gene expression in cells. Abnormal expression of miRNAs has been associated with a variety of diseases. A ratiometric electrochemical method for miRNA detection based on DNA nanomachines and strand displacement reaction was developed. Signal probe with ferrocene label and reference probe with methylene blue label were immobilized on gold nanoparticle (AuNP)-coated magnetic microbeads (AuNP-MMBs). The miRNA triggers the strand displacement reaction and forms a duplex with the protect probe, releasing one end of the DNA walker (DW); the released DW hybridizes with the ferrocene (Fc)-labeled signal probe. The signal probe detached from AuNP-MMBs upon cleavage of the Nb.BbvCI enzyme. The oxidation peak of MB moieties on the reference probe remains unchanged and the signals of Fc moieties on the signal probe are inversely proportional to the concentrations of miRNA. The ratio between Fc moieties at 0.35 V and MB moieties at -0.22 V (vs. Ag/AgCl) was used to quantify the expression level of miRNA with a detection limit down to 0.12 fM. The ratiometric assay possesses a strong ability to eliminate interference from environmental changes, thus offering the high selectivity of miRNA from the complexed biosystems, holding great significance for miRNA sensing. A ratiometric assay with high selectivity of miRNA has been developed based on DNA nanomachines and strand displacement reaction.

RESUMEN

RATIONALE & OBJECTIVE: Although greater dietary intake of protein has been associated with beneficial health effects among patients receiving maintenance hemodialysis (MHD), the effects of plant protein intake are less certain. We studied the association of the proportion of protein intake derived from plant sources with the risk of mortality among patients receiving MHD and explored factors that may modify these associations. STUDY DESIGN: Prospective observational cohort study. SETTING & PARTICIPANTS: 1,119 Chinese hemodialysis patients aged over 18 years receiving MHD in 2014-2015. PREDICTORS: The proportion of plant protein intake to total protein intake. OUTCOMES: All-cause mortality and cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality. ANALYTICAL APPROACH: Segmented regression models were fit to examine the association of plant protein intake proportion with the risk of all-cause mortality and CVD mortality. Multivariable-adjusted Cox proportional and cause-specific hazards models were used to estimate the hazard ratios (HR) and 95% CI for these outcomes. RESULTS: The means of plant protein intake normalized to ideal body weight and plant protein intake proportion were 0.6±0.2 (SD) g/kg per day and 0.538±0.134, respectively. During a median follow-up period of 28.0 months, 249 deaths occurred, with 146 of these deaths resulting from CVD. Overall, there was a U-shaped association between plant protein intake proportion and the risk of all-cause mortality, with an inflection point at 45%. Among patients with a plant protein intake proportion<45%, there was a 17% lower rate of mortality with each 5% greater plant protein intake proportion (HR, 0.83 [95% CI, 0.73-0.96]). Among patients with plant protein intake proportion≥45%, there was a 9% greater rate of mortality with each 5% greater plant protein intake proportion. A similar U-shaped association was observed for CVD mortality, with an inflection point at 44%. LIMITATIONS: Observational study, potential unmeasured confounding. CONCLUSIONS: There was a U-shaped association between plant protein intake proportion and the risk of all-cause and cardiovascular mortality in MHD patients. If confirmed, these findings suggest a potential avenue to improve outcomes in this patient population.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Cytokine-induced killer cells induced with tumor antigen-pulsed dendritic cells (DC-CIK) immunotherapy is a promising strategy for the treatment of malignant tumors. However, itsefficacy isrestricted by the immunosuppression, which is mediated by the cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated antigen-4 (CTLA-4) pathway. In order to overcome the negative co-stimulation from these T cells,we screened a nanobody targeted for CTLA-4 (Nb36) and blocked the CTLA-4 signaling with Nb36. METHODS: Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) were collected from healthy donors to beused to induce CIK cells in vitro, after which they were co-cultured with DC cells that had received tumor antigens. In addition, wetested whether blocking CTLA-4 signaling with Nb36 could promote in vitro DC-CIK cells proliferation, pro-inflammatory cytokine production and cytotoxicity,or not. For the in vivo experiments, we constructed a subcutaneously transplanted tumor model and placed it in NOD/SCID mice to verify the anti-tumor effect of this therapy. RESULTS: After stimulation with Nb36, the DC-CIK cells presented enhanced proliferation and production of IFN-γ in vitro, which strengthened the killing effect on the tumor cells. For the in vivo experiments, it was found that Nb36-treated DC-CIK cells significantly inhibited the growth of subcutaneously transplanted livercancer tumors, as well as reduced the tumor weight and prolonged the survival of tumor-bearing NOD/SCID mice. CONCLUSIONS: Ourfindings demonstrated that in response to CTLA-4 specific nanobody stimulation, DC-CIK cells exhibited a better anti-tumor effect. In fact, this Nb-based CTLA-4 blocking strategy achieved an anti-tumor efficacy close to that of monoclonal antibodies. Our findings suggest that DC-CIK cells + Nb36 have the potential totreatmalignant tumors through in vivo adoptive therapy.

RESUMEN

High fibre intake is associated with reduced mortality risk in both general and chronic kidney disease populations. However, in dialysis patients, such data are limited. Therefore, the association between dietary fibre intake (DFI) and the risk of all-cause and CVD mortality was examined in this study. A total of 1044 maintenance haemodialysis (MHD) patients from eight outpatient dialysis centres in China were included in this study. Data on DFI were collected using 24-h dietary recalls for 3 d in a week and were normalised to actual dry weight. The study outcomes included all-cause and CVD mortality. Over a median of 46 months of follow-up, 354 deaths were recorded, of which 210 (59 %) were due to CVD. On assessing DFI as tertiles, the CVD mortality risk was significantly lower in patients in tertiles 2-3 (≥0·13 g/kg per d; hazard ratio (HR) 0·71; 95 % CI 0·51, 0·97) compared with those in tertile 1 (<0·13 g/kg per d). A similar but non-significant trend was found for the association between DFI (tertiles 2-3 v. tertile 1; HR 0·83; 95 % CI 0·64, 1·07) and all-cause mortality. In summary, higher DFI was associated with lower CVD mortality risk among Chinese MHD patients. This study emphasises the significance of DFI in MHD patients and provides information that is critical for the improvement of dietary guidelines for dialysis patients.

RESUMEN

Recent studies have revealed that indoles, dietary ligands of the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR), have immunomodulatory characteristics of balancing the differentiation of regulatory T cells (Tregs) and Th17 cells in multiple autoimmune diseases. In this study, we aimed to investigate the potency of the indole, 3,3'-diindolylmethane (DIM), on the stability and suppressive function of Tregs in experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE). Furthermore, we used the AhR antagonist CH223191 to verify that DIM exerts its effects on Tregs through the activation of AhR. We found that DIM treatment significantly alleviated the severity of EAE by maintaining the stability and suppressive function of Tregs instead of facilitating the differentiation of Tregs. Thus, these DIM-treated Tregs might indirectly inhibit the generation of Th17 cells and the production of proinflammatory cytokines. And we confirmed the critical role of AhR in the EAE model. Our study further investigated the mechanisms by which dietary indoles promote Treg activity in the EAE model. DIM may act as a novel therapeutic to restrain autoimmune inflammation in multiple sclerosis.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Several studies have reported that low serum uric acid (SUA) levels are related to increased risk of mortality in maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients. However, the possible detrimental effects of high SUA on the mortality risk have not been well examined. Moreover, the possible effect modifiers for the SUA-mortality association have not been fully investigated. To address the aforementioned gap, we aimed to explore the nonlinear relationship between SUA levels and all-cause and cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality risk, and to examine any possible effect modifiers in MHD patients. METHODS: We conducted a multicenter, prospective cohort study among 1,018 MHD patients from 8 hemodialysis centers. The primary outcome was all-cause mortality, and the secondary outcomes were CVD mortality and non-CVD mortality. RESULTS: The mean value for SUA in the total population was 8.5 ± 1.9 mg/dL. The lowest and highest quintiles of SUA were <7.0 and >10.1 mg/dL, respectively. Over a median follow-up of 45.6 months, 343 deaths were recorded, of which 202 (58.9%) were due to CVD. When SUA was assessed as quintiles, a significantly higher risk of all-cause mortality was found in patients in quintile 1 (<7.0 mg/dL; hazard ratio [HR], 1.33; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.02-1.73) or quintile 5 (≥10.1 mg/dL; HR, 1.47; 95% CI: 1.09-2.00), compared to those in quintiles 2-4 (7-10.1 mg/dL). Moreover, the U-shaped SUA-mortality association was mainly found in those with lower C-reactive protein levels (<3 compared with ≥3 mg/L; p for interaction = 0.018). Similar trends were found for CVD mortality and non-CVD mortality. CONCLUSION: There was a U-shaped relationship between SUA levels and the risk of all-cause mortality, CVD mortality, and non-CVD mortality in MHD patients.

RESUMEN

Maintenance haemodialysis (MHD) is the use of a machine to filter wastes, salts and fluid from blood for at least 3 months to prolong the life of patients with advanced kidney failure. Although low dietary energy intake (DEI) has been observed in MHD patients, few studies have related DEI to the risk of mortality. To explore this relationship, a study included 1039 MHD patients from eight centres was conducted. DEI was assessed by three 24-h diet recalls and was normalised to ideal body weight (IBW). All-cause mortality and CVD mortality were the primary and secondary outcomes, respectively. During a median follow-up of 28 months, a U-shaped relationship was observed between DEI and all-cause or CVD mortality. The risk of all-cause mortality decreased significantly with the increase of DEI in participants with DEI <167·4 kJ/kg IBW per d (hazard ratio (HR) 0·98; 95 % CI 0·96, 1·00) and increased significantly with the increase of DEI in those with DEI ≥167·4 kJ/kg IBW per d (HR 1·12; 95 % CI 1·04, 1·20). Similarly, the risk of CVD mortality decreased with the increase of DEI in participants with DEI <152·7 kJ/kg IBW per d (HR 0·96; 95 % CI 0·93, 0·99) and increased with the increase of DEI in participants with DEI ≥152·7 kJ/kg IBW per d (HR 1·11; 95 % CI 1·04, 1·18). In summary, there was a U-shaped association between DEI and all-cause or CVD mortality, with a turning point at about 167·4 and 152·7 kJ/kg IBW per d, respectively, in MHD patients.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Bilateral medial medullary infarction (MMI) is uncommon and bilateral medial pons infarction (MPI) is even rarer. "Heart appearance" on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a characteristic presentation of bilateral medial medullary infarction (MMI). CASE PRESENTATION: We present 67-year-old Chinese diabetic and hypertensive female patient affected with "heart appearance-like" infarction in bilateral ponto-medullary junction on MRI. Abnormal signal was observed in the bilateral ponto-medullary junction on T1, T2, fluid-attenuated inversion recovery and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC). The whole brain digital subtraction angiography (DSA) showed the basilar artery and vertebral artery remained intact. Therefore, we speculated that the bilateral ponto-medullary junction infarction might be caused by the deep perforating branch of the basilar artery. CONCLUSIONS: As far as we know, the "heart appearance-like" infraction in bilateral ponto-medullary junction was not reported. Our case also suggests that bilateral ischemic infraction involvement of the medulla and pon is possible even in the context of an intact basilar artery.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: novel endoscopic techniques including narrowband imaging (NBI) and blue laser imaging (BLI) have led to the improved detection of early stage gastric cancer and precancerous lesions. However, these techniques are not generally thought to be equivalent at present and BLI is generally considered as superior to NBI. Therefore, this comprehensive meta-analysis aimed to definitively compare the diagnostic efficacy of NBI and BLI for the diagnosis of gastric cancer and precancerous lesions. METHODS: relevant articles were identified via searches of the PubMed, Web of Science, Embase and Cochrane Library databases from their inception until October 2019. In total, 28 relevant studies were identified and incorporated into the meta-analysis. RevMan5.3 was used to assess the relative diagnostic efficacy of these two imaging modalities in these studies. The threshold was assessed using Meta-DiSc 1.4 and STATA 14.0 for bivariate regression modeling of pooled studies. RESULTS: the pooled sensitivity of BLI for gastric cancer was 0.89 (0.80, 0.95) and the specificity was 0.92 (0.76, 0.98). The pooled sensitivity of NBI for gastric cancer was 0.83 (0.75, 0.89) and the specificity was 0.95 (0.91, 0.97). The pooled sensitivity of BLI for precancerous lesions was 0.81 (0.71, 0.87) and the specificity was 0.90 (0.80, 0.96). The pooled sensitivity of NBI for precancerous lesions was 0.80 (0.75, 0.85) and the specificity was 0.88 (0.77, 0.94). CONCLUSIONS: this study showed that both BLI and NBI have a very high diagnostic efficacy for the detection of gastric cancer and precancerous lesions, the sensitivity and specificity of these two approaches were similar.

RESUMEN

Lipid droplets have gained strong interest in recent years to comprehend how they function and coordinate with other parts of the cell. However, it remains challenging to study the regulation of lipid droplets in live preadipocytes using conventional microscopic techniques. In this paper, we study the effects of fatty acid stimulation and cell starvation on lipid droplets using optical diffraction tomography and Raman spectroscopy by measuring size, refractive index, volume, dry mass and degree of unsaturation. The increase of fatty acids causes an increase in the number and dry mass of lipid droplets. During starvation, the number of lipid droplets increases drastically, which are released to mitochondria to release energy. Studying lipid droplets under different chemical stimulations could help us understand the regulation of lipid droplets for metabolic disorders, such as obesity and diabetes.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND It has been shown that circular RNAs (circRNAs) play a vital role in the regulation of neuronal differentiation; however, the precise role of circRNAs in human neuronal differentiation remains largely unexplored. MATERIAL AND METHODS A dual-luciferase reporter assay was carried out to confirm the targets of hsa_circ_0002468, miR-561, E2F8 (E2F transcription factor 8, a protein coding gene), and miR-561. We detected the expression of hsa_circ_0002468, miR-561, and E2F8 by using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) analyses. In addition, we performed the functional experiments by using a BrdU (5-bromo-2'-deoxyuridine) assay and qRT-PCR analyses. RESULTS In this study, we showed that hsa_circ_0002468 can act as a sponge of miR-561 to regulate SH-SY5Y proliferation and differentiation. A bioinformatics analysis showed that hsa_circ_0002468 had a binding site that corresponded to miR-561, which was verified by dual-luciferase reporter assay. The expression of hsa_circ_0002468 was increased during SH-SY5Y differentiation and was inversely correlated with miR-561 expression. Using qRT-PCR analysis, we showed that hsa_circ_0002468 negatively regulated miR-561 in SH-SY5Y cells. Intriguingly, the overexpression of hsa_circ_0002468 increased SH-SY5Y differentiation and reduced SH-SY5Y proliferation; the suppression of hsa_circ_0002468 led to decreased SH-SY5Y differentiation levels and increased SH-SY5Y proliferation levels. Additionally, overexpression of miR-561 rescued the SH-SY5Y proliferation deficiency induced by hsa_circ_0002468 overexpression and abolished the SH-SY5Y differentiation promoted by hsa_circ_0002468. Furthermore, E2F8 was validated as a direct target of miR-561. CONCLUSIONS Our data suggested that hsa_circ_0002468 was a novel circRNA that regulated SH-SY5Y cell proliferation and differentiation via targeting the miR-561/E2F8 axis. Therefore, manipulating hsa_circ_0002468 in SH-SY5Y cells could be a novel strategy to develop novel interventions for the treatment of relevant neurological disorders.

RESUMEN

Here, we demonstrate a chip-scale integrated optical wavelength tracker with fast response and compact format. By exploiting the electro-optic(EO) effect on a thermally controlled silicon micro-ring resonator filter, the proposed tracker can operate over a wide wavelength range according to the thermo-optic (TO) effect; meanwhile, the tracker's response speed is greatly improved through the EO effect (i.e. tracking within 1 ns), as compared to the traditional TO controlled methods (typical ~10 µs). With the integration of a photodiode onto the photonics chip, the compact chip is with a footprint of 0.5 mm × 1.5 mm. This tracker has potential applications for wavelength tacking in advanced DWDM network systems, tunable laser sources, and high performance optical sensors.

RESUMEN

Optical fiber force sensing has attracted considerable interest in biological, materials science, micromanipulation, and medical applications owing to its compact and cost-efficient configuration. However, the glass fiber has an intrinsic high Young's modulus, resulting in force sensors being generally less sensitive. While hyperelastic polymer materials can be utilized to enhance the force sensitivity, the thermodynamic properties of the polymer may weaken the sensing accuracy and reliability. Herein, we demonstrate ultracompact three-dimensional (3D)-printed multicore fiber (MCF) tip probes for simultaneous measurement of nanoforce and temperature with high sensitivity. The sensor is highly sensitive to force-induced deformation due to the special geometric features of the polymer microcantilever, and the high-temperature sensitivity can be implemented through the poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) microcavity on the same fiber facet. Moreover, the sensitivities of the fiber interferometers are remarkably enhanced by introducing the optical analogue of the Vernier effect. Such a device exhibits a force sensitivity of 56.35 nm/µN, which is more than 103 times that of all-silica fiber force sensors. The PDMS microcavity provides a temperature sensitivity of 1.447 nm/°C, measuring the local temperature of the probe and compensating for temperature crosstalk of the force detection. The proposed compact MCF-tip sensor can simultaneously measure nanoforce and temperature with high sensitivity, facilitating multiparameter sensing in a restricted space environment and showing the potential in miniaturized all-fiber multiparameter sensors.
