BACKGROUND: Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA)-induced myocardial inflammation is intimately involved in cardiac remodeling. ZBP1 (Z-DNA binding protein 1) is a pattern recognition receptor positively regulating inflammation in response to mtDNA in inflammatory cells, fibroblasts, and endothelial cells. However, the role of ZBP1 in myocardial inflammation and cardiac remodeling remains unclear. The aim of this study was to elucidate the role of ZBP1 in mtDNA-induced inflammation in cardiomyocytes and failing hearts. METHODS: mtDNA was administrated into isolated cardiomyocytes. Myocardial infarctionwas conducted in wild type and ZBP1 knockout mice. RESULTS: We here found that, unlike in macrophages, ZBP1 knockdown unexpectedly exacerbated mtDNA-induced inflammation such as increases in IL (interleukin)-1ß and IL-6, accompanied by increases in RIPK3 (receptor interacting protein kinase 3), phosphorylated NF-κB (nuclear factor-κB), and NLRP3 (nucleotide-binding domain and leucine-rich-repeat family pyrin domain containing 3) in cardiomyocytes. RIPK3 knockdown canceled further increases in phosphorylated NF-κB, NLRP3, IL-1ß, and IL-6 by ZBP1 knockdown in cardiomyocytes in response to mtDNA. Furthermore, NF-κB knockdown suppressed such increases in NLRP3, IL-1ß, and IL-6 by ZBP1 knockdown in response to mtDNA. CpG-oligodeoxynucleotide, a Toll-like receptor 9 stimulator, increased RIPK3, IL-1ß, and IL-6 and ZBP1 knockdown exacerbated them. Dloop, a component of mtDNA, but not Tert and B2m, components of nuclear DNA, was increased in cytosolic fraction from noninfarcted region of mouse hearts after myocardial infarction compared with control hearts. Consistent with this change, ZBP1, RIPK3, phosphorylated NF-κB, NLRP3, IL-1ß, and IL-6 were increased in failing hearts. ZBP1 knockout mice exacerbated left ventricular dilatation and dysfunction after myocardial infarction, accompanied by further increases in RIPK3, phosphorylated NF-κB, NLRP3, IL-1ß, and IL-6. In histological analysis, ZBP1 knockout increased interstitial fibrosis and myocardial apoptosis in failing hearts. CONCLUSIONS: Our study reveals unexpected protective roles of ZBP1 against cardiac remodeling as an endogenous suppressor of mtDNA-induced myocardial inflammation.

As the COVID-19 pandemic persists, pregnant women have been increasingly affected worldwide. Women during the last trimester of pregnancy are susceptible to severe COVID-19, and there are many challenges towards its treatment. Monoclonal antibody treatment (MAT) is approved for COVID-19 patients to reduce disease severity. However, there are few reports on the MAT in perinatal women. Herein, we report a 39-year-old pregnant female (36 weeks and 6 days of gestation) with improvement in COVID-19 pneumonia after treatment with casiribimab/imdevimab, resulting in successful vaginal delivery (a 2.868 kg male newborn), along with a literature review. Early diagnosis and treatment of pregnant women with COVID-19 are important. Infectious diseases doctors and/or obstetricians should be aware of the MAT option administered to perinatal COVID-19 women to reduce disease severity.

BACKGROUND: Assessment of pain in macaques is challenging. The aims of this study were (1) to investigate current knowledge and attitudes of primate veterinarians concerning acute pain in macaques; (2) to synthesise current knowledge and opinion to facilitate pain assessment. A primary question of interest was whether more confident individuals differ in their knowledge and attitudes from less-confident individuals. METHODS: An online survey was conducted amongst primate veterinarians serving both laboratories and zoos/sanctuaries. The questionnaire consisted of demographic information, attitudes towards pain, pain rating and analgesics, pain recognition and confidence in recognising pain and sources of information used. RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS: There was generally good use of analgesia by respondents. More confident individuals reported that they recognise pain both behaviourally and in facial expressions, rated all pain signs more highly and used more analgesics. Specialist support networks aimed at increasing veterinarian confidence in macaque pain assessment could be beneficial.

Regulatory T cells may serve as targets in cancer immunotherapy. A previous study showed that the chemokine CCL17 and the receptor CCR4 play roles in regulatory T cell recruitment in canine urothelial carcinoma. In this article, we show that the BRAFV595E mutation is associated with tumor-produced CCL17 and regulatory T cell infiltration in dogs with urothelial carcinoma. In comparison with healthy dogs, dogs with urothelial carcinoma showed increased CCL17 mRNA expression in the bladder and elevated CCL17 protein concentration in urine. Immunohistochemistry showed increased levels of Foxp3+ regulatory T cells in the tumor tissues of urothelial carcinoma. The density of Foxp3+ regulatory T cells was positively correlated with CCL17 concentration in urine, indicating that CCL17 is involved in regulatory T cell recruitment. Moreover, tumor-infiltrating regulatory T cells and urine CCL17 concentration were associated with poor prognosis in dogs with urothelial carcinoma. The number of tumor-infiltrating regulatory T cells, CCL17 mRNA expression, and urine CCL17 concentration in cases with BRAFV595E mutation were higher than those in cases with wild-type BRAF. In vitro, high CCL17 production was detected in a canine urothelial carcinoma cell line with BRAFV595E mutation but not in an urothelial carcinoma cell line with wild-type BRAF. Dabrafenib, a BRAF inhibitor, decreased CCL17 production in the cell line with BRAFV595E mutation. These results suggest that BRAFV595E mutation induced CCL17 production and contributed to regulatory T cell recruitment in canine urothelial carcinoma.

The objectives of this study were (a) to establish a population pharmacokinetic model and (b) to investigate the clinical and physiological effects of a single bolus dose of propofol in common marmosets. In Study 1, pharmacokinetic analysis was performed in six marmosets under sevoflurane anaesthesia. 8 mg/kg of propofol was administrated at a rate of 4 mg kg-1  min-1 . Blood samples were collected 2, 5, 15, 30, 60, 90, 120 or 180 min after starting propofol administration. Plasma concentration was measured, and population pharmacokinetic modelling was performed. A two-compartment model was selected as the final model. The population pharmacokinetic parameters were as follows: V1  = 1.14 L, V2  = 77.6 L, CL1  = 0.00182 L/min, CL2  = 0.0461 L/min. In Study 2, clinical and physiological parameters were assessed and recorded every 2 min after 12 mg/kg of propofol was administrated at a rate of 4 mg kg-1  min-1 . Immobilization was sustained for 5 min following propofol administration without apparent bradycardia. While combination of propofol and sevoflurane caused apnoea in Study 1, apnoea was not observed following single administration of propofol in Study 2. These data provide bases for further investigation on intravenous anaesthesia using propofol in common marmosets.

Antagonists of the 5-hydroxytryptamine (serotonin) 3 receptor (5-HT3R) have anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptotic activities, but the detailed, underlying mechanisms are not well understood. We focused on anti-apoptotic activities via 5-HT3R signaling to clarify the underlying mechanisms. Mice were administered 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), which induced apoptosis in intestinal epithelial cells. Coadministration with 5-HT3R antagonists or agonists tended to decrease or increase the number of apoptotic cells, respectively. In serotonin 3A receptor (5-HT3AR) null (HTR3A-/-) mice, the number of apoptotic cells induced by 5-FU was decreased compared with that in wild-type (WT) mice. Bone marrow (BM) transplantation was performed to determine if BM-derived immune cells regulated 5-FU-induced apoptosis, but they were found to be unrelated to this process. Data from 5-HT3AR/enhanced green fluorescent protein reporter mice revealed that 50% of enterochromaffin (EC) cells expressed 5-HT3AR, but the number of apoptotic cells induced by 5-FU in the intestinal crypt organoids of HTR3A-/- mice was not altered compared with WT mice. In contrast, plasma 5-HT concentrations in WT mice but not in HTR3A-/- mice administered 5-FU were increased significantly. Urothelial carcinoma (UC) is the most common tumor affecting the urinary bladder of dogs. Protein overexpression of ErbB2 (the canine homolog of HER2) has been observed in dogs with UC. However, no study regarding ErbB2 copy number aberration (CNA) is reported in dogs with UC. In this study, a digital PCR assay for detecting CNA of canine ErbB2 was developed. DNA samples were isolated from 83 formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded urinary bladder tissues (36 UC, 8 polypoid cystitis, and 39 normal) and 94 urinary sediments (54 UC, 30 nonneoplastic, and 10 normal). The copy number of canine chromosome 8 (CFA8) was used as a control. In the urinary bladder tissues, ErbB2 CNA was detected in 12 of 36 (33%) UC, 2 of 8 (25%) polypoid cystitis, and 0 of 39 (0%) normal controls. In the urinary sediments, ErbB2 CNA was also detected in 19 of 54 (35%) UC; however, no ErbB2 CNA was detected in nonneoplastic diseases or normal controls. The sensitivity and specificity of ErbB2 CNA in urinary sediment for the detection of UC were 35% and 100%, respectively. There was a positive correlation between the copy number ratios of ErbB2 to CFA8 in the urinary bladder tissues and urinary sediments. Our findings indicate that the digital PCR assay of urinary sediments may be a useful, noninvasive method for detecting ErbB2 CNA in dogs with UC.

Regulatory T cells (Tregs) can be targeted in cancer immunotherapy. A previous study has shown that the chemokine CCL17 and the receptor CCR4 play a role in Treg recruitment in canine urothelial carcinoma. Here, we describe the association of tumor-infiltrating Tregs with CCL17/CCR4 expression in dogs with other carcinomas. In this study, we investigated 23 dogs with mammary carcinoma, 14 dogs with oral squamous cell carcinoma, 16 dogs with pulmonary adenocarcinoma, and 8 healthy control dogs. Immunohistochemistry showed that Foxp3+ Tregs and CCR4+ cells were increased in the tumor tissues of mammary carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and pulmonary adenocarcinoma, when compared with the healthy tissues. The number of CCR4+ cells was associated with that of Foxp3+ Tregs. Double immunofluorescence labeling confirmed that most tumor-infiltrating Foxp3+ Tregs expressed CCR4. In vitro, canine carcinoma cell lines expressed CCL17 mRNA. Quantitative RT-PCR (reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction) showed that CCL17 mRNA expression in canine carcinomas was increased approximately 10- to 25-fold relative to that of healthy tissues. These results suggest that the CCL17/CCR4 axis may drive Treg recruitment in a variety of canine carcinomas. CCR4 blockade may be a potential therapeutic option for tumor eradication through Treg depletion.

Lymphangiography can be useful for preoperative planning in chylothorax. Conventional ultrasound-guided intranodal injection can be difficult in some cases and is dependent upon operator skill. Alternative methods have been proposed to simplify the procedure, but their feasibility has not been sufficiently evaluated in clinical cases. The primary purpose of this multicenter, retrospective, descriptive study was to assess the feasibility and describe the clinical findings of CT lymphangiography by intrametatarsal pad injection in dogs with naturally occurring chylothorax. Twenty dogs were analyzed, and enhancement of thoracic ducts (TDs) was successful in 18 (90%) dogs within 5-14 min after initiating the injection, while successful enhancement of the lymphatic vessels cranial to the popliteal lymph nodes was seen in all dogs within 5 min after injection. The dose with good success to achieve TD enhancement was 1 mL/kg (concentration 350 mg I/kg). Only two dogs had mild discomfort after recovery from general anesthesia. Computed tomography lymphangiography by intrametatarsal pad injection is a feasible, easy, and safe procedure, which could provide adequate TD and cisterna chyli enhancement, identify TD number and cisterna chyli location and structure, and contribute to surgical planning.

We have previously reported characteristics of canine corneal epithelial cells in vitro and found that canine corneal epithelial cells could maintain their proliferative capacity even after continuous culture without the use of feeder cells and growth promoting additives. The objective of this study was to elucidate proliferative characteristics of canine corneal epithelial cells independent of feeder cells and growth promoting additives, with the aim of developing a spontaneously derived corneal epithelial cell line. Canine and rabbit corneal epithelial cells were harvested from the limbus and cultured with, or without, feeder cells and growth promoting additives, and both were passaged continuously until growth arrest. Canine corneal epithelial cells could proliferate independently, and could be passaged more times than rabbit cells. A canine corneal epithelial cell line, cCEpi, which could be passaged more than 100 times without using feeder cells and growth promoting additives, was established. cCEpi cells maintained a cell morphology close to the primary culture and expressed p63, cytokeratin 15 (K15), and K3. Although changes in colony morphology, shortening of the population doubling time and a heteroploid karyotype were observed, cCEpi was not tumorigenic. Stratified cell sheets cultured from cCEpi were morphologically and immunohistologically similar to sheets cultivated from early passage cells. In conclusion, canine corneal epithelial cells can proliferate independent of feeder cells and growth promoting additives. cCEpi maintains properties similar to normal corneal epithelial cells and could be a useful source for studies in cellular biology and for developing novel therapies.

The biological behavior and immunohistochemical features of feline renal cell carcinoma (RCC) have not been well characterized. In the present study, immunohistochemical examinations were performed in 12 feline cases of RCC. The RCC consisted of solid ( n = 2), solid-tubular ( n = 2), tubular ( n = 3), papillary ( n = 2), tubulopapillary ( n = 2), and sarcomatoid ( n = 1) type lesions. Of the cases with RCC, 1 developed metastatic disease and 6 cases had no evidence of recurrence at 80 to 2292 days after surgery. One papillary-type tumor had cuboidal cells with scant cytoplasm and monomorphic nuclei, and the other had pseudostratified columnar cells with abundant cytoplasm. Immunohistochemistry revealed that the tumor cells in most cases were positive for cytokeratin (CK)7, CK20, KIT, and CD10, with the exception of cases of the solid type with clear cytoplasm (solid anaplastic), papillary type with columnar cells, and sarcomatoid types. A small number of tumor cells in the solid anaplastic and in the sarcomatoid types were positive for aquaporin-1. Increased expression of N-cadherin and Twist along with nuclear accumulation of ß-catenin were observed in the sarcomatoid type. These results indicated that CK, KIT, and CD10 are relatively strongly expressed in most feline RCC. The solid anaplastic RCC exhibited CD10 expression with the absence of distal tubule marker expression. Although immunohistochemistry profiles were relatively consistent with those described in human RCC, the histopathologic features were different from those seen in humans. Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) marker expression in the current cases may suggest the involvement of an EMT-like mechanism in the development of sarcomatoid RCC in cats.

Tenascin-C (TNC), an extracellular matrix glycoprotein, plays a pivotal role in tumor growth. However, the mechanism whereby TNC affects tumor biology remains unclear. To investigate the exact role of TNC in primary tumor growth, a mouse mammary tumor cell line, GLMT1, was first developed. Subsequently, global gene expression in GLMT1-derived tumors was compared between wild-type (WT) and TNC-knockout (TNKO) mice. Tumors in WT mice were significantly larger than those in TNKO mice. DNA microarray analysis revealed 447 up and 667 downregulated in the tumors inoculated into TNKO mice as compared to tumors in WT mice. Validation by quantitative gene expression analysis showed that Tnc, Cxcl1, Cxcl2, and Cxcr2 were significantly upregulated in WT mice. We hypothesize that TNC stimulates the CXCL1/2-CXCR2 pathway involved in cancer cell proliferation.

Repair of large segmental defects of long bones are a tremendous challenge that calls for a novel approach to supporting immediate weight bearing and bone regeneration. This study investigated the functional and biological characteristics of a combination of a tailor-made titanium mesh cage with a plate (tTMCP) with tetrapod-shaped alpha tricalcium phosphate granules (TB) and basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF)-binding ion complex gel (f-IC gel) to repair 20-mm segmental radial defects in dogs. The defects were created surgically in 18 adult beagle dogs and treated by implantation of tTMCPs with TB with (TB-gel group) or without (TB group) f-IC gel. Each tTMCP fitted the defect well, and all dogs could bear weight on the affected limb immediately after surgery. Dogs were euthanized 4, 8 and 24 weeks after implantation. Histomorphometry showed greater infiltration of new vessels and higher bone union rate in the TB-gel group than in the TB group. The lamellar bone volume and mineral apposition rate did not differ significantly between the groups, indicating that neovascularization may be the primary effect of f-IC gel on bone regeneration. This combination method which is tTMCP combined with TB and f-IC gel, would be useful for the treatment of segmental long bone defects.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the major risk factors linking preoperative characteristics and anaesthesia-related death in dogs in referral hospitals in Japan. STUDY DESIGN: Observational cohort study. ANIMALS: From April 1, 2010 to March 31, 2011, 4323 dogs anaesthetized in 18 referral hospitals in Japan. METHODS: Questionnaire forms were collated anonymously. Death occurring within 48 hours after extubation was considered as an anaesthesia-related death. Patient outcome (alive or dead) was set as the outcome variable. Preoperative general physical characteristics, complete blood cell counts, serum biochemical examinations and intraoperative complications were set as explanatory variables. The risk factors for anaesthesia-related death were evaluated using chi-square test or Fisher's exact test, followed by multivariable logistic regression analysis of the data. Significance was set at p < 0.05. RESULTS: Thirteen dogs that died from surgical error or euthanasia were excluded from statistical analysis. The total mortality rate in this study was 0.65% [28/4310 dogs; 95% confidence interval (CI), 0.41-0.89]. Furthermore, 75% (95% CI, 55.1-89.3) of anaesthesia-related deaths occurred in dogs with pre-existing diseases. Most of the deaths occurred postoperatively (23/28; 82.1%; 95% CI, 63.1-93.9). Preoperative serum glucose concentration <77 mg dL-1 (6/46; 13.0%; 95% CI, 4.9-26.3), disturbance of consciousness (6/50; 12.0%; 95% CI, 4.5-24.3), white cell count >15,200 µL-1 (16/499; 3.4%; 95% CI, 1.9-5.5) and American Society of Anesthesiologists grade III-V (19/1092; 1.7%; 95% CI, 1.1-2.7) were identified as risk factors for anaesthesia-related death. Intraoperative hypoxaemia (8/34; 23.5%; 95% CI, 10.7-41.2) and tachycardia (4/148; 2.7%; 95% CI, 0.7-6.8) were also risk factors for anaesthesia-related death. CONCLUSIONS AND CLINICAL RELEVANCE: The results revealed that certain preoperative characteristics were associated with increased odds of anaesthesia-related death, specifically low serum glucose concentration and disturbances of consciousness. Greater attention to correcting preanaesthetic patient abnormalities may reduce the risk of anaesthesia-related death.

Numerous topoisomerase inhibitors with proven efficacy have been used extensively to treat various human neoplasms. However, among these, only doxorubicin has been used and studied extensively in veterinary oncology. The current study was performed to evaluate the responsiveness of canine osteosarcoma (cOSA), mammary gland tumour (cMGT), and malignant melanoma (cMM) cell lines to several topoisomerase inhibitors. In addition, the correlation between the sensitivity to treatment and multi-drug resistant (MDR) factors was investigated. cOSA cell lines exhibited higher sensitivity than cMGT and cMM cell lines to all the topoisomerase inhibitors tested in vitro; this was associated with the levels of multi-drug resistance protein 1 (MDR1) gene expression in the cOSA cell lines. Treatment of cOSA (HMPOS) and cMGT cell line (CHMp) xenograft mouse models with etoposide markedly delayed tumour progression in HMPOS xenografts, but failed to elicit lasting anti-tumour effects on CHMp xenograft mice. The present findings suggest that MDR1 represents a molecular signature for prediction of treatment efficacy of topoisomerase inhibitors, especially that of etoposide, which may be a clinically useful anti-tumour agent for cOSA; however, further study is necessary to refine the treatment protocol.

The atlanto-occipital (AO) overlap in combination with atlanto-axial (AA) instability was found in a dog. We hypothesized that ventral fixation of the AA junction can stabilize the atlas and prevent AO overlap by reviewing our past cases with AA instability. A standard ventral fixation of the AA junction using stainless k-wires and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) was performed. The dog fully recovered, and no complication was noted. The results of the postoperative CT imaging supported our hypothesis. The ventral fixation of the AA junction is a feasible treatment option for similar cases, although craniocervical junction abnormalities (CJA) including AA instability are varied, and careful consideration is required for each case.

A 10-month-old female toy poodle was referred to the University of Tokyo Veterinary Medical Center with a urogenital anomaly found during sterilization. An exploratory laparotomy revealed a cyst adhering to the cervix and a unilateral renal agenesis. Histopathology and immunohistochemical analysis of the cyst was consistent with remnants of the Wolffian duct or a Gartner duct cyst. This is a rare case of a canine Gartner duct cyst with renal agenesis and uterine anomaly. We discuss the similarity of this case to that of humans and introduce a classification in the literature for these complex urogenital malformations for further clinical research into the precise diagnosis and appropriate surgical planning.

OBJECTIVE: The current study compared canine corneal epithelial cell sheets cultivated from limbal stem cells on amniotic membrane, atelocollagen gel, and temperature-responsive culture dish. PROCEDURES: We collected limbal epithelial cells from the intact eyes of beagles and cultivated the cells on denuded canine amniotic membranes, temperature-responsive cell culture labware, and collagen gel with 3T3 feeder cells. Immunofluorescence staining for Ki-67 was used to analyze the capacity of cell proliferation in the sheets. Immunofluorescence staining was also performed for the corneal epithelium-specific marker cytokeratin 3 and putative stem cell markers ABCG2 and p63. Reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was performed to detect ABCG2 and p63. RESULTS: The growth rates of the cultivated cells, or the times it took them to reach confluency, were different for the three scaffolds. The cultivated sheet on the temperature-responsive dish consisted of 2-3 layers, while those on the collagen gel and on the amniotic membrane consisted of 5-8 layers. The basal layer cells grown on all three scaffolds expressed putative stem cell markers. In real-time RT-PCR analysis, the highest level of p63 was observed in the sheets grown on collagen gel. CONCLUSIONS: In this study, the cells cultured on the collagen gel demonstrated a capacity for cell proliferation, and the expressions of stem cells in the sheets suggested that collagen gel is the most suitable carrier for clinical use.

OBJECTIVE: To examine the expressions of ABCG2 and p63 in canine corneal epithelia and to evaluate their significance in corneal regeneration. PROCEDURES: Canine corneal and limbal epithelial cells were obtained from five healthy beagle dogs. We analyzed the morphological properties of cultivated limbal and corneal epithelial cells. We compared the expressions of ABCG2 and p63 in the limbus and central cornea by immunohistochemistry and real-time quantitative PCR. We analyzed the expression of these markers in cultivated cells by immunocytochemistry and real-time quantitative PCR. RESULTS: The limbal epithelial cells were smaller and proliferated more rapidly than the corneal epithelial cells in primary cultures. The corneal cells failed to be subcultured, whereas the limbal cells could be subcultured with increasing cell size. ABCG2 was localized in the basal layer of the limbal epithelium, and p63 was widely detected in the entire corneal epithelia. ABCG2 expression was significantly higher, and p63 was slightly higher in the limbus compared with the central cornea. ABCG2 was detected only in limbal cells in primary culture, not in corneal cells or passaged limbal cells. p63 was detected in both limbal and corneal cells and decreased gradually in the limbal cells with the cell passages. CONCLUSIONS: ABCG2 was localized in canine limbal epithelial cells, and p63 was widely expressed in canine corneal epithelia. ABCG2 and p63 could prove to be useful markers in dogs for putative corneal epithelial stem cells and for corneal epithelial cell proliferation, respectively.

The cases of 10 dogs with transitional cell carcinoma of the urinary bladder that underwent total cystectomy were retrospectively reviewed to evaluate the feasibility and outcome of total cystectomy and ureteral transplantation to the prepuce or vagina. Dehiscence of ureterostomy (n = 2), pyelonephritis (n = 3), oliguria (n = 2), azotemia (n = 1), and ureteral obstruction (n = 1) were observed complications. The estimated median survival time was 385 days. This study demonstrates the feasibility of total cystectomy and subsequent urinary diversion to the prepuce or vagina in dogs. Compared to previous ureterocolonic anastomosis, this technique is associated with fewer gastrointestinal and neurologic complications.


Cystectomie totale et diversion urinaire subséquente au prépuce ou au vagin de chiens atteints du carcinome transitionnel de la région du trigone vésical : rapport sur 10 cas (2005­2011). Les cas de 10 chiens atteints du carcinome transitionnel de la vessie urinaire qui avaient subi une cystectomie totale ont été examinés rétrospectivement afin d'évaluer la faisabilité et les résultats d'une cystectomie totale et d'une transplantation urétérale au prépuce ou au vagin. La déhiscence de l'urétérostomie (n = 2), la pyélonéphrite (n = 3), l'oligurie (n = 2), l'azotémie (n = 1) et une obstruction urétérale (n = 1) figuraient parmi les complications observées. L'estimation de la durée médiane de survie était de 385 jours. Cette étude démontre la faisabilité d'une cystectomie totale et d'une diversion urinaire subséquente vers le prépuce ou le vagin chez les chiens.
