OBJECTIVES: To assess potential correlations between intraepidermal nerve fiber densities (IENFD), graded with light microscopy, and clinical measures of peripheral neuropathy in elderly male subjects with normal glucose tolerance (NGT), impaired glucose tolerance (IGT), and type 2 diabetes (T2DM), respectively. MATERIALS AND METHODS: IENFD was assessed in thin sections of skin biopsies from distal leg in 86 men (71-77 years); 24 NGT, 15 IGT, and 47 T2DM. Biopsies were immunohistochemically stained for protein gene product (PGP) 9.5, and intraepidermal nerve fibers (IENF) were quantified manually by light microscopy. IENFD was compared between groups with different glucose tolerance and related to neurophysiological tests, including nerve conduction study (NCS; sural and peroneal nerve), quantitative sensory testing (QST), and clinical examination (Total Neuropathy Score; Neuropathy Symptom Score and Neuropathy Disability Score). RESULTS: Absent IENF was seen in subjects with T2DM (n = 10; 21%) and IGT (n = 1; 7%) but not in NGT. IENFD correlated weakly negatively with HbA1c (r = -.268, P = .013) and Total Neuropathy Score (r = -.219, P = .042). Positive correlations were found between IENFD and sural nerve amplitude (r = .371, P = .001) as well as conduction velocity of both the sural (r = .241, P = .029) and peroneal nerve (r = .258, P = .018). Proportions of abnormal sural nerve amplitude became significantly higher with decreasing IENFD. No correlation was found with QST. Inter-rater reliability of IENFD assessment was good (ICC = 0.887). CONCLUSIONS: Signs of neuropathy are becoming more prevalent with decreasing IENFD. IENFD can be meaningfully evaluated in thin histopathological sections using the presented technique to detect neuropathy.

RESUMEN

Continuous monitoring of electroencephalography (EEG), with a focus on amplitude-integrated EEG (aEEG), has been used in neonatal intensive care for decades. A number of systems have been suggested for describing and quantifying aEEG patterns. Extensive full-montage EEG monitoring is used in specialised intensive care units. The American Clinical Neurophysiology Society published recommendations for defining and reporting EEG findings in critically ill adults and infants. Swedish neonatologists and clinical neurophysiologists collaborated to optimise simplified neonatal continuous aEEG and EEG recordings based on these American documents. CONCLUSION: This paper describes the Swedish consensus document produced by those meetings.

BACKGROUND: Electroencephalography (EEG) is widely used to assess neurological prognosis in patients who are comatose after cardiac arrest, but its value is limited by varying definitions of pathological patterns and by inter-rater variability. The American Clinical Neurophysiology Society (ACNS) has recently proposed a standardized EEG-terminology for critical care to address these limitations. METHODS/DESIGN: In the TTM-trial, 399 post cardiac arrest patients who remained comatose after rewarming underwent a routine EEG. The presence of clinical seizures, use of sedatives and antiepileptic drugs during the EEG-registration were prospectively documented. DISCUSSION: A well-defined terminology for interpreting post cardiac arrest EEGs is critical for the use of EEG as a prognostic tool. PURPOSE: To compare clinical outcomes 5 years after carpal tunnel release among patients with and without diabetes. METHODS: In a prospective consecutive series, 35 patients with diabetes (median age, 54 y; 15 type 1 and 20 type 2 diabetes) with carpal tunnel syndrome were age- and sex-matched with 31 control patients without diabetes (median age, 51 y) with idiopathic carpal tunnel syndrome. Exclusion criteria were other nerve entrapment, cervical radiculopathy, inflammatory joint disease, thyroid disorder, previous wrist fracture, and long-term exposure to vibrating tools. Participants were examined independently at baseline, 1 year, and 5 years after surgery for sensory function (Semmes-Weinstein), motor function (abductor pollicis brevis muscle strength and grip strength), cold intolerance, and completion of the Boston Carpal Tunnel Questionnaire symptom severity and functional status score. RESULTS: Five years after surgery, the overall attendance rate for clinical examinations and completion of the Boston Carpal Tunnel Questionnaire were 86% and 95%, respectively. Between 1 and 5 years after surgery, there was a tendency toward a decrease in sensory function but an increase in motor function, with no statistically significant difference between groups. Cold intolerance demonstrated long-term significant improvement for patients with diabetes. The improvement in symptom severity and functional status score, as well as the large effect size, were maintained at 5 years in both patient groups. CONCLUSIONS: Long-term improvement in patients with diabetes remained after carpal tunnel release to the same extent as for patients without diabetes. Furthermore, improvement in cold intolerance in patients with diabetes suggests the potential for the long-term regeneration of small nerve fibers. TYPE OF STUDY/LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: Prognostic I.

The electroencephalography (EEG) signal has a high complexity, and the process of extracting clinically relevant features is achieved by visual analysis of the recordings. The interobserver agreement in EEG interpretation is only moderate. This is partly due to the method of reporting the findings in free-text format. The purpose of our endeavor was to create a computer-based system for EEG assessment and reporting, where the physicians would construct the reports by choosing from predefined elements for each relevant EEG feature, as well as the clinical phenomena (for video-EEG recordings). A working group of EEG experts took part in consensus workshops in Dianalund, Denmark, in 2010 and 2011. The faculty was approved by the Commission on European Affairs of the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE). The working group produced a consensus proposal that went through a pan-European review process, organized by the European Chapter of the International Federation of Clinical Neurophysiology. The Standardised Computer-based Organised Reporting of EEG (SCORE) software was constructed based on the terms and features of the consensus statement and it was tested in the clinical practice. The main elements of SCORE are the following: personal data of the patient, referral data, recording conditions, modulators, background activity, drowsiness and sleep, interictal findings, "episodes" (clinical or subclinical events), physiologic patterns, patterns of uncertain significance, artifacts, polygraphic channels, and diagnostic significance. The following specific aspects of the neonatal EEGs are scored: alertness, temporal organization, and spatial organization. For each EEG finding, relevant features are scored using predefined terms. Definitions are provided for all EEG terms and features. SCORE can potentially improve the quality of EEG assessment and reporting; it will help incorporate the results of computer-assisted analysis into the report, it will make possible the build-up of a multinational database, and it will help in training young neurophysiologists.

BACKGROUND: Sedative and analgesic medications are used in critically ill newborns, but little is known about their effects on electrocortical activity in preterm infants. We hypothesized that morphine might induce prolonged neurodepression, independent of blood pressure, as compared with rapid sequence induction/intubation(RSI). METHODS: Of 34 infants enrolled in a randomized controlled trial (RCT) comparing RSI (including thiopental 2-3 mg/kg and remifentantil 1 mcg/kg) with morphine (0.3 mg/kg) as premedication for intubation, 28 infants (n = 14 + 14; median gestational age 26.1 wk and postnatal age 138 h) had continuous two-channel amplitude-integrated electroencephalogram (aEEG/EEG) and blood pressure monitoring during 24 h after the intubation. Thirteen infants not receiving any additional medication constituted the primary study group. Visual and quantitative analyses of aEEG/EEG and blood pressure were performed in 3-h epochs. RESULTS: RSI was associated with aEEG/EEG depression lasting <3 h. Morphine premedication resulted in aEEG/EEG depression with more discontinuous background and less developed cyclicity for 24 h, and during the first 9 h, interburst intervals (IBI) were significantly increased as compared with those of RSI treatment. The difference was not related to blood pressure. CONCLUSION: Premedication with morphine is associated with prolonged aEEG/EEG depression independent of blood pressure changes and may not be optimal for short procedures.

There has been a dramatic change in hospital care of cardiac arrest survivors in recent years, including the use of target temperature management (hypothermia). Clinical signs of recovery or deterioration, which previously could be observed, are now concealed by sedation, analgesia, and muscle paralysis. Seizures are common after cardiac arrest, but few centers can offer high-quality electroencephalography (EEG) monitoring around the clock. This is due primarily to its complexity and lack of resources but also to uncertainty regarding the clinical value of monitoring EEG and of treating post-ischemic electrographic seizures. Thanks to technical advances in recent years, EEG monitoring has become more available. Large amounts of EEG data can be linked within a hospital or between neighboring hospitals for expert opinion. Continuous EEG (cEEG) monitoring provides dynamic information and can be used to assess the evolution of EEG patterns and to detect seizures. cEEG can be made more simple by reducing the number of electrodes and by adding trend analysis to the original EEG curves. In our version of simplified cEEG, we combine a reduced montage, displaying two channels of the original EEG, with amplitude-integrated EEG trend curves (aEEG). This is a convenient method to monitor cerebral function in comatose patients after cardiac arrest but has yet to be validated against the gold standard, a multichannel cEEG. We recently proposed a simplified system for interpreting EEG rhythms after cardiac arrest, defining four major EEG patterns. In this topical review, we will discuss cEEG to monitor brain function after cardiac arrest in general and how a simplified cEEG, with a reduced number of electrodes and trend analysis, may facilitate and improve care.

PURPOSE: This study aimed to characterize the Swedish cohort of surgically treated patients with TSC and explore differences in preoperative investigation and outcome over time. METHODS: Data on patient and seizure characteristics were retrieved from the Swedish National Epilepsy Surgery Register. Two-year follow-up results were compared between the years 1997-2010 and 2011-2018. Preoperative investigations were re-evaluated. RESULTS: Eighteen tuberectomies and seven callosotomies were identified. Seizure freedom after tuberectomy was achieved in 11 % (1/9) 1997-2010 and 56 % (5/9) 2011-2018. The number of tuberectomies increased each decade. Patients operated on in 1997-2010 had higher seizure frequency (median 175 seizures/month vs. 102) and incidence of infantile spasms (4/9 vs. 1/9, none after 2011). There was a trend towards surgery at a younger age (median 86 months 1997-2010 vs. 48 months 2011-2018). None with >200 seizure/month, SEGA, or history of infantile spasms achieved seizure freedom. Two patients underwent anterior callosotomy (1992 and 1994) and became free of drop attacks. Five callosotomies were performed between 2011 and 2013, one patient became free of drop attacks. Two complications with new neurological deficits were reported. The median age at surgery was higher in the callosotomy group (14 years) than in the tuberectomy group (5 years). CONCLUSION: Seizure freedom after tuberectomy in patients with TSC has increased over time in our cohort. Signs of a heavier disease burden were more frequently observed 1997-2010 and associated with worse outcomes. Callosotomy operations were prevalent at the beginning of the 2010s.

AIM: To characterize early amplitude-integrated electroencephalogram (aEEG) and single-channel EEG (aEEG/EEG) in very preterm (VPT) infants for prediction of long-term outcome. PATIENTS: Forty-nine infants with median (range) gestational age of 25 (22-30) weeks. METHODS: Amplitude-integrated electroencephalogram/EEG recorded during the first 72 h and analysed over 0-12, 12-24, 24-48 and 48-72 h, for background pattern, sleep-wake cycling, seizures, interburst intervals (IBI) and interburst percentage (IB%). In total, 2614 h of single-channel EEG examined for seizures. Survivors were assessed at 2 years corrected age with a neurological examination and Bayley Scales of Infant Development-II. Poor outcome was defined as death or survival with neurodevelopmental impairment. Good outcome was defined as survival without impairment. RESULTS: Thirty infants had good outcome. Poor outcome (n = 19) was associated with depressed aEEG/EEG already during the first 12 h (p = 0.023), and with prolonged IBI and higher IB% at 24 h. Seizures were present in 43% of the infants and associated with intraventricular haemorrhages but not with outcome. Best predictors of poor outcome were burst-suppression pattern [76% correctly predicted; positive predictive value (PPV) 63%, negative predictive value (NPV) 91%], IBI > 6 sec (74% correctly predicted; PPV 67%, NPV 79%) and IB% > 55% at 24 h age (79% correctly predicted; PPV 72%, NPV 80%). In 35 infants with normal cerebral ultrasound during the first 3 days, outcome was correctly predicted in 82% by IB% (PPV 82%, NPV 83%). CONCLUSION: Long-term outcome can be predicted by aEEG/EEG with 75-80% accuracy already at 24 postnatal hours in VPT infants, also in infants with no early indication of brain injury.

Lucas, Voss, and Paller sympathize with our intentions but disagree with our findings. They argue that a relation between frequency and conceptual priming may have been obscured by methodological details in our second experiment, therefore failing to complete a bridge between conceptual priming and FN400 with name frequency as the mediator. However, renewed inspections of our experiment and a new additional experiment, designed to meet the objections, fail to find any role for name frequency in conceptual priming and therefore re-establish the dissociation of priming and the FN400. On closer inspection, our differing views seem to derive from different interpretations of the term "concept."

OBJECTIVE: To assess the prognostic value of continuous amplitude-integrated electroencephalogram in comatose survivors after cardiac arrest and treated with hypothermia. DESIGN: Prospective observational study. SETTING: General intensive care unit at a university hospital. PATIENTS: Comatose patients after cardiac arrest and treated with hypothermia. INTERVENTIONS: Patients were sedated and continuously monitored using an amplitude-integrated electroencephalogram. Monitoring was commenced on arrival in the intensive care unit and continued until recovery of consciousness, death, or 120 hrs after cardiac arrest. The amplitude-integrated electroencephalogram was interpreted together with the original electroencephalogram and analyzed without knowledge of the patient's clinical status. The amplitude-integrated electroencephalogram patterns at start of registration and at normothermia and the transitions of the amplitude-integrated electroencephalogram patterns over time were correlated to outcome. MEASUREMENTS AND MAIN RESULTS: A total of 111 consecutive patients were assessed; 11 patients were not included because of technical reasons and five were excluded because of death before normothermia. Ninety-five patients remained; 57 (60%) eventually regained consciousness, of whom 49 (52%) lived an independent life at 6 months. Thirty-one patients (33%) at start of registration and 62 patients (65%) at normothermia had a continuous electroencephalogram pattern, and this was strongly associated with recovery of consciousness (29/31 [90%] and 54/62 [87%]). A suppression-burst pattern was always transient and patients with suppression-burst at any time remained in coma until death. An initial flat pattern was registered in 47 patients, but this had no prognostic value. Electrographic status epilepticus was a common finding (26/95 patients [27%]) and two types of electrographic status epilepticus were identified: one developed from suppression-burst and one developed from a continuous background. Two patients from the latter group regained consciousness. CONCLUSIONS: Continuous amplitude-integrated electroencephalogram adds valuable early positive and negative prognostic information in comatose survivors after cardiac arrest. We identified two types of postanoxic electrographic status epilepticus, which is a novel finding with possible therapeutic implications.

OBJECTIVE: To study if comatose cardiac arrest patients can be assessed with a reduced number of EEG electrodes. METHODS: 110 routine EEGs from 67 consecutive patients, including both hypothermic and normothermic EEGs were retrospectively assessed by three blinded EEG-experts using two different electrode montages. A standard 19-electrode-montage was compared to the reduced version of the same EEGs, down-sampled to six electrodes (F3, T3, P3, F4, T4, P4). We used intra-rater and inter-observer statistics to assess the reliability of the reduced montage for background features and discharges. RESULTS: The reduced montage had almost perfect performance for background continuity (κ 0.80-0.88), including identification of highly malignant backgrounds (burst-suppression/suppression) (κ 0.85-0.94) and benign backgrounds (continuous/nearly continuous) (κ 0.85-0.91). We found substantial performance for identifying rhythmic/periodic discharges (κ 0.79-0.86). The reduced montage had high accuracy for assessment of both highly malignant (sensitivity 91-95%, specificity 94-99%) and benign (sensitivity 89-98%, specificity 91-96%) backgrounds, and periodic/rhythmic patterns (sensitivity 79-100%, specificity 89-99%), compared to the full montage. The inter-observer variability was not increased by the reduced montage. CONCLUSION: Reduced EEG had high performance for classifying important background and discharge patterns in this post cardiac arrest cohort. SIGNIFICANCE: Our results support the use of reduced EEG-montage for monitoring comatose cardiac arrest patients.

PURPOSE: To compare the clinical outcome after carpal tunnel release in diabetic and nondiabetic patients. METHODS: We evaluated a prospective, consecutive series of 35 diabetic patients (median age, 54 years; 15 with type 1 and 20 with type 2 diabetes) with carpal tunnel syndrome, who were age- and gender-matched with 31 nondiabetic patients (median age, 51 years) having idiopathic carpal tunnel syndrome. Exclusion criteria were other focal nerve entrapments, cervical radiculopathy, inflammatory joint disease, renal failure, thyroid disorders, previous wrist fracture, and long-term exposure to vibrating tools. Participants were examined independently at baseline (preoperatively) and 6, 12, and 52 weeks after surgery, including evaluating sensory function (Semmes-Weinstein), motor function (abductor pollicis brevis muscle strength and grip strength), pillar pain, cold intolerance, and patient satisfaction. RESULTS: The number of patients with normal sensory function (pulp of index finger) increased notably in both patient groups from baseline (diabetic patients, 7 of 35; nondiabetic patients, 10 of 31) compared with the 52-week follow-up (diabetic patients, 25 of 35; nondiabetic patients, 24 of 31). Grip strength decreased temporarily at 6 weeks but recovered completely after 12 weeks. At the 52-week follow-up, mean grip strength (95% confidence interval) had improved significantly in both patient groups (diabetic patients: 3.0 kg [-0.3 to 6.2], nondiabetic patients: 3.4 kg [0.2 to 6.6]). Pillar pain correlated significantly with grip strength at the 6-week follow-up (r(s) = -0.41 to -0.54 [p < .05]). The number of patients reporting cold intolerance decreased over time (diabetic patients, 22 of 35 to 19 of 35; nondiabetic patients, 18 of 31 to 8 of 31), but decreased markedly less for the diabetic patients. Level of patient satisfaction was equal between groups. Comparing type 1 and type 2 diabetic patients, no important difference was noted on any test variables. CONCLUSIONS: Patients with diabetes have the same beneficial outcome after carpal tunnel release as nondiabetic patients. Only cold intolerance demonstrated a lesser extent of relief for diabetic patients. TYPE OF STUDY/LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: Prognostic I.

Excessive sleep during the night and for >2 hours during the day is part of the fluctuating wakefulness criterion of dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB). The phenomenon 'sleep days' is not uncommon in nursing homes. Here, we describe a woman who, for months, slept for 3 days and nights in a row and thereafter was awake for 3 days and nights. Electroencephalogram (EEG) showed slow background activity and increased delta activity. No epileptiform activity was detected. Polysomnography showed a severely disturbed, markedly fragmented sleep pattern. On her death, neuropathology revealed degeneration and loss of neurons along with α-synuclein-containing Lewy body inclusions and neurites in the substantia nigra, locus coeruleus, hypothalamus, and neocortex, thus fulfilling the criteria of DLB, cortical type. We propose that the hypothalamic degeneration contributed significantly to the clinical profile in this case. We suggest that patients with sleep days should be investigated for other DLB signs.

The current study aimed to characterize changes in EEG-related measures after noxious stimuli in neonates and to assess their potential utility as measures of pain and/or discomfort during neonatal intensive care. Seventy-two healthy term infants were investigated: Twenty-eight had a non-skin-breaking pin-prick on the heel, randomized to receive either oral glucose (n = 16) or water (n = 12) before the stimulus. Twenty-one infants were studied during a venous blood sample from the dorsum of the hand, 23 infants during a capillary heel stick. Behavioral pain responses were assessed with the Premature Infant Pain Profile Scale. The stimulus evoked a significant increase in higher frequency components (10-30 Hz) which also correlated to behavioral measures. The frontotemporal localization of the increased activity with frequency bands similar to electromuscular artifacts and the relation to behavioral measures confirmed that this activity corresponds to an increase in muscle tone. There was no change in frontal EEG asymmetry in any of the groups. The present results indicate that responses in cortical activity recorded by EEG are not useful for clinical assessment of infants' responses to noxious stimuli.

The efficacy of serotonin reuptake inhibitors in depression and anxiety disorders suggests the gene coding for the serotonin transporter (5-HTT), SLC6A4, as a candidate of importance for these conditions. Positive findings regarding associations between polymorphisms in SLC6A4 have been reported, indicating that these polymorphisms may influence anxiety-related personality traits, as well as the risk of developing depression and suicidality. Serotonin 5-HTT availability was assessed with single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT), using (123)I-beta-CIT as ligand, in a population of unmedicated male suicide attempters (n=9) and in matched controls (n=9). Two polymorphisms in SLC6A4 were assessed, including the 5-HTTLPR located in the promoter region and a variable number of tandem repeats (VNTR) polymorphism in intron 2 (STin2). In suicide attempters, but not in controls, low 5-HTT availability was associated with the S allele of 5-HTTLPR and with the 12 repeat allele of STin2. Data suggest that polymorphisms in SLC6A4 may influence the expression of the brain serotonin transporter in suicide attempters.

PURPOSE: The purpose was to quantify changes of epileptiform activity during ketogenic diet (KD) treatment in children with therapy resistant epilepsy, and evaluate how these changes are related to activity stage and to clinical effects on seizure frequency, seizure severity, attentional behaviour, quality of life (QOL), and beta-hydroxybutyrate (betaOHb). METHODS: Eighteen children were investigated with 24h ambulatory EEG monitoring 1 week prior to KD initiation and, after 3 months of KD treatment. Epileptiform activity was evaluated by automated spike detection. This data was compared with data presented in a previous study published in Epilepsia 2006, on sleep structure and different activity stages, clinical data on seizure frequency, seizure severity, QOL and attentional behaviour on the same children [Hallbook, T., Lundgren, J., Rosén, I., 2007. Ketogenic diet improves sleep quality in children with therapy resistant epilepsy. Epilepsia 48, 59-65]. RESULTS: After 3 months of KD treatment the number of interictal epileptiform discharges (IEDs) was significantly reduced (p<0.001). When considering the four activity stages separately, the reduction was significant during non-rapid eye movement sleep stage 2, slow wave sleep (SWS) and rapid eye movement (REM) sleep (p=0.001, 0.001, 0.002), and not significantly so during awake (p=0.07). Beta-hydroxybutyrate was significantly increased (p<0.001). There was a significant correlation between the reduction in IEDs and clinical seizures (Spearman r=0.6, p=0.005) and between improvement in attentional behaviour and the increase in betaOHb (Spearman r=0.5, p=0.03). There was no significant correlation between changes in attentional behaviour and IEDs or clinical seizures. CONCLUSION: This study shows that KD reduces the number of IEDs, especially during sleep. It shows a correlation between reduction in epileptiform activity and clinical seizures. There were no correlations between reduction in epileptiform activity and clinical seizures and improvement in QOL or attention. The increase in betaOHb correlated with improvement in attention.

OBJECTIVES: The progression and pathophysiology of neuropathy in impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) and type 2 diabetes (T2DM) is poorly understood, especially in relation to autophagy. This study was designed to assess whether the presence of autophagy-related structures was associated with sural nerve fiber pathology, and to investigate if endoneurial capillary pathology could predict the development of T2DM and neuropathy. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Sural nerve physiology and ultrastructural morphology were studied at baseline and 11 years later in subjects with normal glucose tolerance (NGT), IGT, and T2DM. RESULTS: Subjects with T2DM had significantly lower sural nerve amplitude compared to subjects with NGT and IGT at baseline. Myelinated and unmyelinated fiber, endoneurial capillary morphology, and the presence and distribution of autophagy structures were comparable between groups at baseline, except for a smaller myelinated axon diameter in subjects with T2DM and IGT compared to NGT. The baseline values of the subjects with NGT and IGT who converted to T2DM 11 years later demonstrated healthy smaller endoneurial capillary and higher g-ratio versus subjects who remained NGT. At follow-up, T2DM showed a reduction in nerve conduction, amplitude, myelinated fiber density, unmyelinated axon diameter, and autophagy structures in myelinated axons. Endothelial cell area and total diffusion barrier was increased versus baseline. CONCLUSIONS: We conclude that small healthy endoneurial capillary may presage the development of T2DM and neuropathy. Autophagy occurs in human sural nerves and can be affected by T2DM. Further studies are warranted to understand the role of autophagy in diabetic neuropathy.

Standardized terminology for computer-based assessment and reporting of EEG has been previously developed in Europe. The International Federation of Clinical Neurophysiology established a taskforce in 2013 to develop this further, and to reach international consensus. This work resulted in the second, revised version of SCORE (Standardized Computer-based Organized Reporting of EEG), which is presented in this paper. The revised terminology was implemented in a software package (SCORE EEG), which was tested in clinical practice on 12,160 EEG recordings. Standardized terms implemented in SCORE are used to report the features of clinical relevance, extracted while assessing the EEGs. Selection of the terms is context sensitive: initial choices determine the subsequently presented sets of additional choices. This process automatically generates a report and feeds these features into a database. In the end, the diagnostic significance is scored, using a standardized list of terms. SCORE has specific modules for scoring seizures (including seizure semiology and ictal EEG patterns), neonatal recordings (including features specific for this age group), and for Critical Care EEG Terminology. SCORE is a useful clinical tool, with potential impact on clinical care, quality assurance, data-sharing, research and education.
