[Systemic manifestations and diseases related to positive serology for Yersinia pseudotuberculosis. Apropos of 9 observations]. / Manifestations systémiques des affections associées à une sérologie positive pour Yersinia pseudotuberculosis. A propos de 9 observations.

A series of 9 cases of systemic affections associated with positive serology for yersinia pseudotuberculosis is reported. The clinical presentation of four cases was classical reactive arthritis with or without erythema nodosa; in two cases the patients had sacroileitis or Reiter's syndrome. The other three patients had unusual presentations: one Löfgren's syndrome, one cutaneous leukocytoclasis vasculitis with polyarthritis and glomerulonephritis, and one rhizomelic pseudopolyarthritis. Four patients (45 p. 100) had a positive HLA B27 antigen. In the absence of absolute bacteriological proof of cause and effect the authors discuss the relationship between these syndromes and Yersinia pseudotuberculosis infection. Although a Yersinia infection has not been formally established as the cause, there is some indirect evidence pointing to the reality of systemic Yersinia pseudotuberculosis infection.

[Treatment of cyclic attacks of acute intermittent porphyria with an LH-RH agonist administered by the intranasal route]. / Traitement d'une porphyrie aiguë intermittente avec attaques cycliques par un agoniste LH-RH administré par voie nasale.

A 31 year old woman suffering of acute intermittent porphyria (AIP) developed within 9 months 7 cyclical attacks occurring in a average of 5,2 days before menses. In order to inhibit ovulation, we experiment a long-acting agonist LH-RH (D-SER (TBU) 6-EA10 LH-RH--Buserelin) administered during 8 months by nasal spray. Menses did not occur during the test and the patient developed only 2 attacks. The initial ovarian stimulation phase lasted 15 days and was marked by the induction of an AIP attack after 3 days of treatment and occurrence of ovarian cysts. Our case suggests that LH-RH analogues may be useful in the prevention of cyclical attacks of porphyria.

Contribution to the aetiology of diabetes insipidus: Yersinia pseudotuberculosis infection.

A case concerning a young man presenting with polyuria and polydipsia which were preceded 1 month earlier by a febrile enteritis is reported. The role of Yersinia pseudotuberculosis in diabetes insipidus of this type is discussed on the basis of clinical, biological and evolutional criteria.
