RESUMEN

Objective To compare the macular structure and microcirculation in both eyes of the patients with myopic anisometropia.Methods Optical coherence tomography angiography(OCTA)was employed to scan the macular areas in both eyes of 44 patients with myopic anisometropia.The patients were assigned into high and low groups based on the refractive diopter,and the parameters such as retinal thickness,choroidal thickness,vascular density,and perfusion density in the macular areas of both eyes were compared between the two groups.Results Other macular areas except the central and external nasal areas and the choroid of the fovea in the high group were thinner than those in the low group(all P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in retinal vascular density or perfusion density in different areas between the two groups(all P>0.05).Conclusion In the patients with myopic anisometropia,most areas of the retina in the case of high myopia is thinner than that in the case of low myopia,while there is no difference in retinal vascular density or perfusion density in both eyes.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are found in extremely low concentrations in cells, so highly sensitive quantitation is a great challenge. Herein, a simple dual-amplification strategy involving target-activated catalytic hairpin assembly (CHA) coupled with multiple fluorophores concentrated on one X-shaped DNA is reported. In this strategy, four hairpin probes (H1, H2, H3, and H4) are modified with FAM and BHQ1 at both sticky ends, while a circulating hairpin probe (H0) is used to activate CHA circuits once it binds to complementary sequences in the target miR-21 (T). The powerful dual-amplification cascades in Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET)-based nonenzymatic nucleic acid circuits are triggered by T-H0-activated formation of the X-shaped DNA nanostructure, freeing T-H0 for the next CHA reaction cycle. CHA circuits increase the fluorescence due to the wide distance between FAM and BHQ1 in the formed X-shaped DNA nanostructure, resulting in signal amplification and highly sensitive detection of miR-21, with a limit of detection (LOD, 3σ) of 0.025 nM, which is 25.6 or 57.6 times lower than that obtained through a single-amplification strategy without multiple fluorophores on one X-shaped DNA or CHA circuit. Furthermore, this cascade reaction was completed in 45 min, effectively avoiding target degradation. This new enzyme-free signal amplification strategy holds promising potential for sensitively detecting different DNA or RNA sequences by simply adapting the fragment of the H0 sequence complementary to the target.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) can progress gradually to liver failure, early warning of which is critical for improving the cure rate of NAFLD. In situ imaging and monitoring of overexpressed miR-21 is an advanced strategy for NAFLD diagnosis. However, this strategy usually suffers from the high background imaging in living cells owing to the complexity of the biological system. To overcome this problem, herein, we have developed a one-donor-two-acceptor nanoprobe by assembling gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) coupled with BHQ2 (AuBHQ) and quantum dots (QDs) through DNA hybridization for imaging of miR-21 in living cells. The fluorescence of QDs was quenched up to 82.8% simultaneously by the AuNPs and the BHQ2 via nanometal surface energy transfer and fluorescence resonance energy transfer, reducing the background signals for target imaging. This low background fluorescent nanoprobe was successfully applied for imaging the target miR-21 in nonalcoholic fatty liver cells by catalyzing the disassembly of QDs with the AuBHQ and the fluorescence recovery of QDs. In addition, the sensitivity of this nanoprobe has also been enhanced toward detecting miR-21 in the range of 2.0-15.0 nM with the detection limit (LOD, 3σ) of 0.22 nM, which was 13.5 times lower than that without BHQ2. The proposed approach provides a new way for early warning, treatments, and prognosis of NAFLD.

The viability and vigor of crop seeds are crucial indicators for evaluating seed quality, and high-quality seeds can increase agricultural yield. The conventional methods for assessing seed viability are time consuming, destructive, and labor intensive. Therefore, a rapid and nondestructive technique for testing seed viability has great potential benefits for agriculture. In this study, single-kernel Fourier transform near-infrared (FT-NIR) spectroscopy with a wavelength range of 1000-2500 nm was used to distinguish viable and nonviable supersweet corn seeds. Various preprocessing algorithms coupled with partial least squares discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) were implemented to test the performance of classification models. The FT-NIR spectroscopy technique successfully differentiated viable seeds from seeds that were nonviable due to overheating or artificial aging. Correct classification rates for both heat-damaged kernels and artificially aged kernels reached 98.0%. The comprehensive model could also attain an accuracy of 98.7% when combining heat-damaged samples and artificially aged samples into one category. Overall, the FT-NIR technique with multivariate data analysis methods showed great potential capacity in rapidly and nondestructively detecting seed viability in supersweet corn.

AIM: Cryoglobulinaemic glomerulonephritis related to hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection has been rarely reported. The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical features, renal biopsy findings in patients with HBV-associated cryoglobulinaemia. METHODS: Twelve patients with HBV-associated cryoglobulinaemia were identified in this study. The demographic, clinical, pathological characteristics, treatment and follow-up data were analyzed. RESULTS: Renal involvement was characterized by nephrotic range proteinuria with microscopic haematuria in all patients, and impaired renal function in nine patients (75%). Purpuric rash was the main extrarenal manifestation (58.3%). Type II cryoglobulinaemia was presented in three patients and type III in nine patients. Hypocomplementaemia and positive of rheumatoid factors were present in all patients. Membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis (MPGN) was observed in all kidney specimens. Seven patients also had evidence of prominent cryoglobulins thrombi on renal biopsy, but only three patients had HBV antigen deposits in renal tissues. Antiviral and steroids or immunosuppressive agents have been used in most of patients. During follow-up, two patients died, and four reaching end-stage renal disease; three patients had complete remission, and three patients had renal function improved after therapy. CONCLUSIONS: Nephrotic syndrome with haematuria and renal insufficiency are the main clinical manifestation; cryoglobulinaemic glomerulonephritis are the main renal lesion in patients with HBV-Associated cryoglobulinaemia; half of patients have poor outcome even with antiviral and immunosuppressive therapy. The results of this study indicate that cryoglobulins should be detected in hepatitis B virus-Associated nephropathy in endemic area.

OBJECTIVE: To compare the clinicopathological characteristics, treatment response, and prognosis between patients with IgAN nephropathy with minimal change disease (MCD-IgAN) and patients with minimal change disease (MCD). METHODS: 77 patients with biopsy-proven MCD-IgAN from the Jinling Hospital IgAN Registry and 77 patients with MCD followed up for ≥ 3 years were retrospectively reviewed. RESULTS: MCD-IgAN and MCD patients had similar clinical presentations, both were predominantly young males, the disease mainly manifested as nephrotic syndrome, and the patients rarely presented with microscopic hematuria. Compared with the MCD group, patients with MCD-IgAN had lower levels of baseline serum albumin (p < 0.01) and eGFR (p < 0.05), a higher level of urine n-acetylglucosaminidase (p < 0.01), higher proportion of mesangial hypercellularity (M1), and more severe acute tubulointerstitial lesions in renal pathology (p < 0.01, p < 0.01, respectively). After 8 weeks of corticosteroid therapy, no significant differences were observed in the rate of complete remission, partial remission, and no remission between MCDIgAN and MCD patients (88.3% vs. 90.9%, 10.4% vs. 5.2%, 1.3% vs. 3.9%, p > 0.05). The median time to achieve remission was 4 weeks (range 1 - 24 weeks) and 4 weeks (range 1 - 28 weeks), respectively. No significant difference existed in the efficacy of corticosteroid between the two groups. During 3.96 years (range 3.0 - 8.5 years) of follow-up, no patients in the two groups entered end-stage renal disease (ESRD), only 2 patients (2.6%) with MCD-IgAN had > 50% reduction of eGFR. CONCLUSIONS: MCD-IgAN may be controlled well achieving a comparable clinical outcome as MCD but more frequently necessitates additional immunosuppressive medication.

Inflammation is an important part of the development of various organ diseases. The inflammasome, as an innate immune receptor, plays an important role in the formation of inflammation. Among various inflammasomes, the NLRP3 inflammasome is the most well studied. The NLRP3 inflammasome is composed of skeletal protein NLRP3, apoptosis-associated speck-like protein (ASC) and pro-caspase-1. There are three types of activation pathways: (1) "classical" activation pathway; (2) "non-canonical" activation pathway; (3) "alternative" activation pathway. The activation of NLRP3 inflammasome is involved in many inflammatory diseases. A variety of factors (such as genetic factors, environmental factors, chemical factors, viral infection, etc.) have been proved to activate NLRP3 inflammasome and promote the inflammatory response of the lung, heart, liver, kidney and other organs in the body. Especially, the mechanism of NLRP3 inflammation and its related molecules in its associated diseases remains not to be summarized, namely they may promote or delay inflammatory diseases in different cells and tissues. This article reviews the structure and function of the NLRP3 inflammasome and its role in various inflammations, including inflammations caused by chemically toxic substances.

Aim: This study was conducted to explore differences in static functional connectivity (sFC) and dynamic functional connectivity (dFC) alteration patterns in the primary visual area (V1) among high myopia (HM) patients and healthy controls (HCs) via seed-based functional connectivity (FC) analysis. Methods: Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) scans were performed on 82 HM patients and 59 HCs who were closely matched for age, sex, and weight. Seed-based FC analysis was performed to identify alterations in the sFC and dFC patterns of the V1 in HM patients and HCs. Associations between mean sFC and dFC signal values and clinical symptoms in distinct brain areas among HM patients were identified via correlation analysis. Static and dynamic changes in brain activity in HM patients were investigated by assessments of sFC and dFC via calculation of the total time series mean and sliding-window analysis. Results: In the left anterior cingulate gyrus (L-ACG)/left superior parietal gyrus (L-SPG) and left V1, sFC values were significantly greater in HM patients than in HCs. In the L-ACG and right V1, sFC values were also significantly greater in HM patients than in HCs [two-tailed, voxel-level P < 0.01, Gaussian random field (GRF) correction, cluster-level P < 0.05]. In the left calcarine cortex (L-CAL) and left V1, dFC values were significantly lower in HM patients than in HCs. In the right lingual gyrus (R-LING) and right V1, dFC values were also significantly lower in HM patients than in HCs (two-tailed, voxel-level P < 0.01, GRF correction, cluster-level P < 0.05). Conclusion: Patients with HM exhibited significantly disturbed FC between the V1 and various brain regions, including L-ACG, L-SPG, L-CAL, and R-LING. This disturbance suggests that patients with HM could exhibit impaired cognitive and emotional processing functions, top-down control of visual attention, and visual information processing functions. HM patients and HCs could be distinguished from each other with high accuracy using sFC and dFC variabilities. These findings may help to identify the neural mechanism of decreased visual performance in HM patients.

Background: There is increasing evidence that patients with retinal detachment (RD) have aberrant brain activity. However, neuroimaging investigations remain focused on static changes in brain activity among RD patients. There is limited knowledge regarding the characteristics of dynamic brain activity in RD patients. Aim: This study evaluated changes in dynamic brain activity among RD patients, using a dynamic amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (dALFF), k-means clustering method and support vector machine (SVM) classification approach. Methods: We investigated inter-group disparities of dALFF indices under three different time window sizes using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) data from 23 RD patients and 24 demographically matched healthy controls (HCs). The k-means clustering method was performed to analyze specific dALFF states and related temporal properties. Additionally, we selected altered dALFF values under three distinct conditions as classification features for distinguishing RD patients from HCs using an SVM classifier. Results: RD patients exhibited dynamic changes in local intrinsic indicators of brain activity. Compared with HCs, RD patients displayed increased dALFF in the bilateral middle frontal gyrus, left putamen (Putamen_L), left superior occipital gyrus (Occipital_Sup_L), left middle occipital gyrus (Occipital_Mid_L), right calcarine (Calcarine_R), right middle temporal gyrus (Temporal_Mid_R), and right inferior frontal gyrus (Frontal_Inf_Tri_R). Additionally, RD patients showed significantly decreased dALFF values in the right superior parietal gyrus (Parietal_Sup_R) and right paracentral lobule (Paracentral_Lobule_R) [two-tailed, voxel-level p < 0.05, Gaussian random field (GRF) correction, cluster-level p < 0.05]. For dALFF, we derived 3 or 4 states of ALFF that occurred repeatedly. There were differences in state distribution and state properties between RD and HC groups. The number of transitions between the dALFF states was higher in the RD group than in the HC group. Based on dALFF values in various brain regions, the overall accuracies of SVM classification were 97.87, 100, and 93.62% under three different time windows; area under the curve values were 0.99, 1.00, and 0.95, respectively. No correlation was found between hamilton anxiety (HAMA) scores and regional dALFF. Conclusion: Our findings offer important insights concerning the neuropathology that underlies RD and provide robust evidence that dALFF, a local indicator of brain activity, may be useful for clinical diagnosis.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of combination chemotherapy with bleomycin, etoposide and cisplatin (BEP) regimen on the patients with high-risk gestational trophoblastic neoplasia (GTN). METHODS: Forty-two patients with high-risk GTN admitted in Sichuan Cancer Hospital between Jan.1997 and Oct. 2011 were analyzed retrospectively. The International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) prognostic score of all patients was more than 7. The mean age of patients was 30.2 years (range 20 - 49 years). All patients were treated with more than two cycles BEP regimen and followed up to the patients' death or at the end of Feb.2012. The clinical response, toxicity and the occurrence of secondary tumors were investigated. RESULTS: Forty-two high-risk GTN patients received the total of 251 courses of the BEP regimen, the average number of courses for each patient was 6.0 courses. Thirty-seven patients achieved complete remission and 5 patients showed drug-resistant. The total complete remission rate of BEP regimen was 88% (37/42). Among the complete remission patients, the total courses of BEP regimen of cases getting normal serum ß-hCG level was 129 courses (average 3.5 courses), and the total courses of cases achieving complete remission was 227 courses (average 6.1 courses). Among the 37 complete remission patients, 31 cases were treated with BEP regimen chemotherapy alone, 4 patients with BEP regimen chemotherapy combined with surgical treatment (1 case had no cancer after surgery) and 2 cases with BEP regimen chemotherapy combined with radiation therapy. Therefore, the complete remission rate of BEP regimen chemotherapy alone was 74% (31/42). There were 5 patients who showed drug-resistance after 24 courses of BEP regimen chemotherapy (average 4.8 courses), then received etoposide, methotrexate and dactinomycin (EMA)/cyclophosphamide and vincristine sulfate (CO) regimen chemotherapy after drug-resistance, 2 cases combined with radiation therapy, 1 case combined with surgical treatment. Ultimately, 4 cases achieved complete remission, 1 case died of cancer. The major toxicities of BEP regimen were included bone marrow suppression, digestive tract side effect and alopecic, followed by mild peripheral neuritis and abnormal liver function, rare cases of mild pulmonary toxicity. There were no severe anaphylaxis and obvious impairment of cardiac, liver, pulmonary and kidney function, except 1 patient (49 years old) had grade IV bone marrow suppression and pulmonary fibrosis worsened after chemotherapy. The bone marrow suppression was mainly I-III degree neutropenia, and Incidence rate was 66.5% (167/251). All the survival patients without secondary tumor. CONCLUSION: For young high-risk GTN patients, BEP regimen chemotherapy may be safe and effective.

Aim: Resting state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) was used to analyze changes in functional connectivity (FC) within various brain networks and functional network connectivity (FNC) among various brain regions in patients with high myopia (HM). Methods: rs-fMRI was used to scan 82 patients with HM (HM group) and 59 healthy control volunteers (HC group) matched for age, sex, and education level. Fourteen resting state networks (RSNs) were extracted, of which 11 were positive. Then, the FCs and FNCs of RSNs in HM patients were examined by independent component analysis (ICA). Results: Compared with the HC group, FC in visual network 1 (VN1), dorsal attention network (DAN), auditory network 2 (AN2), visual network 3 (VN3), and sensorimotor network (SMN) significantly increased in the HM group. FC in default mode network 1 (DMN1) significantly decreased. Furthermore, some brain regions in default mode network 2 (DMN2), default mode network 3 (DMN3), auditory network 1 (AN1), executive control network (ECN), and significance network (SN) increased while others decreased. FNC analysis also showed that the network connection between the default mode network (DMN) and cerebellar network (CER) was enhanced in the HM group. Conclusion: Compared with HCs, HM patients showed neural activity dysfunction within and between specific brain networks, particularly in the DMN and CER. Thus, HM patients may have deficits in visual, cognitive, and motor balance functions.

Aim: Patients with high myopia (HM) reportedly exhibit changes in functional brain activity, but the mechanism underlying such changes is unclear. This study was conducted to observe differences in dynamic spontaneous brain activity between patients with HM and healthy controls (HCs) via dynamic regional homogeneity (dReHo) analysis. Methods: Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) scans were performed on 82 patients with HM and 59 HCs who were closely matched for age, sex, and weight. The dReHo approach was used to assess local dynamic activity in the human brain. The association between mean dReHo signal values and clinical symptoms in distinct brain areas in patients with HM was determined via correlation analysis. Results: In the left fusiform gyrus (L-FG), right inferior temporal gyrus (R-ITG), right Rolandic operculum (R-ROL), right postcentral gyrus (R-PoCG), and right precentral gyrus (R-PreCG), dReHo values were significantly greater in patients with HM than in HCs. Conclusion: Patients with HM have distinct functional changes in various brain regions that mainly include the L-FG, R-ITG, R-ROL, R-PoCG, and R-PreCG. These findings constitute important evidence for the roles of brain networks in the pathophysiological mechanisms of HM and may aid in the diagnosis of HM.

PURPOSE: Converging evidence demonstrated that bronchial asthma (BA) individuals with hypoxia were associated with functional and morphological reorganization in the brain. However, the alterations of the interhemispheric functional connectivity in BA individuals remain unknown. The purpose of this study was to assess the interhemispheric functional connectivity changes in individuals with hypoxia due to middle-aged BA using voxel-mirrored homotopic connectivity (VMHC) methods. METHODS: In total, 31 BA individuals and 30 healthy controls (HCs) closely matched in age, sex, and education underwent resting-state magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans. VMHC analysis was performed to investigate differences in interhemispheric functional connectivity between the two groups. Then, a seed-based resting-state functional connectivity (rsFC) analysis was conducted to further reveal the abnormal functional connectivity between the altered VMHC regions and the whole brain. RESULTS: Compared with HCs, BA individuals had significantly lower VMHC values in the bilateral basal ganglia/thalamus/insula, cuneus/calcarine/lingual gyrus, precentral and postcentral gyrus. [voxel level P < 0.01, Gaussian random field (GRF) correction, cluster level P < 0.05]. Taking VMHC altered brain areas as seed points, the rsFC values of left insula/supramarginal/postcentral gyrus (PostCG)/inferior parietal lobule (IPL) brain areas in BA were increased. CONCLUSION: The abnormal resting-state functional connectivity of middle-aged BA is altered in specific brain regions related to the basal ganglia network, visual network, and sensorimotor network, which may be related to the neuropathogenesis of asthma patients. Furthermore, these VMHC and FC values may be important clinical indicators for the diagnosis and treatment of asthma patients.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the effect of combined gene therapy with interference hTERT and TRF2 gene on the treatment of breast cancer. METHODS: Recombinant adenovirus rAd-hTERT and rAd-TRF2 expressing siRNA-hTERT and siRNA-TRF2 was constructed, and the vectors were transfected into MCF-7 cells. Than the expressions of hTERT and TRF2 proteins were detected by Western blot, the inhibition of MCF-7 cell proliferation by MTT colorimetry, and the changes of MCF-7 cell cycle by flow cytometry and the colony forming ability of MCF-7 cells by clone form test. RESULTS: At 48 h after transfection, the relative expression amounts of hTERT protein of the PBS control group, rAd-blank group, rAd-HK control group, rAd-hTERT group, rAd-TRF2 group and rAd-hTERT and rAd-TRF2 group were 1.00, 0.94 +/- 0.02, 0.95 +/- 0.04, 0.18 +/- 0.04, 0.95 +/- 0.01 and 0.18 +/- 0.04, respectively. The relative expression amounts of TRF2 protein were 1.00, 1.01 +/- 0.08, 0.96 +/- 0.02, 0.95 +/- 0.08, 0.22 +/- 0.01 and 0.26 +/- 0.02, respectively. After transfection of rAd-hTERT or rAd-TRF2 into MCF-7 cells separately, the inhibition rate of cell proliferation was only 54.6% and 48.4%, there was 8.9% +/- 1.2% or 9.2% +/- 2.3% of MCF-7 cells into M phase, 66.4% +/- 1.5% or 64.6% +/- 1.9% of MCF-7 cells was arrested at G(0)/G(1) phase, and the cell colony forming ability was decreased significantly (cell colony number from 100 in PBS control group down to 41.3 +/- 5.1 and 43.7 +/- 6.4). But after transfection by rAd-hTERT and rAd-TRF2 simultaneously, the inhibition rate of cell proliferation was about 82.1%, and M phase cells was significantly reduced to 4.4% +/- 1.2%. Large numbers of cells were arrested at G(0)/G(1) phase (81.4% +/- 1.3%), and the cell colony forming ability was more significantly decreased (cell colony number there were only 29.2 +/- 3.9). CONCLUSION: More effective effect of tumor gene therapy can be achieved by combination of interference hTERT and TRF2 genes as compared with interference by either of the single gene alone.

Carbon quantum dots (CQDs), prepared by one-step hydrothermal treatment of perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic dianhydride (PTCDA) and triethylamine (TEA), could be exfoliated or delaminated into single-layered graphene quantum dots (s-GQDs) with methanol for the first time, with fluorescence (FL) emission at 500 nm when excited at 417 nm. The s-GQDs, with more sufficient carboxyl groups on the surface than CQDs, could be induced to be aggregated by metal ion dysprosium (Dy3+), resulting in aggregation-induced emission quenching effect subsequently. However, the presence of phosphate (PO43-) destroys the Dy3+-induced aggregates of s-GQDs owing to the strong coordination between Dy3+ and PO43-, inducing the FL emission recovery of the s-GQDs and providing selective detection method of PO43- in the artificial wetlands with the linear range of 0.2-30 µM and determination limit of 0.1 µM (3σ).

Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been identified as novel biomarkers for the diagnosis, staging and prognosis for gastric cancer. However, various studies have reported a series of significances based on different diagnostic values. Therefore, the current study performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of lncRNAs for gastric cancer, and to discuss lncRNA types and sources of heterogeneity. The Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, MEDLINE, PubMed, EMBASE, the Chinese Biomedical Literature Database, the China Academic Journals Full-text Database and the Chinese Scientific Journals Database were systematically searched for potential studies. Studies were included if they were associated with lncRNAs, gastric cancer and reported diagnostic outcomes. Analysis of diagnostic values was used to summarize the overall test performance of lncRNAs. Ten studies were included in this meta-analysis. The ranges of the diagnostic value of lncRNAs for gastric cancer were as follows: Sensitivity was 0.45-0.83, and pooled sensitivity was 0.63; specificity was 0.60-0.93, and pooled specificity was 0.75; positive likelihood ratio was 1.80-6.92, and pooled positive likelihood ratio was 2.51; negative likelihood ratio was 0.23-0.67, and pooled negative likelihood ratio was 0.50; diagnostic odds ratio was 3.33-13.75, and pooled diagnostic odds ratio was 5.47. An overall area under the curve value of the summary receiver operating characteristic curve was 0.7550. LncRNAs did not have a high accuracy for identifying gastric cancer at present, but may be a useful screening tool for diagnosing gastric cancer due to their correlation with gastric cancer biological features. LncRNAs are potential biomarkers for gastric cancer if the screening strategy is altered, or they are combined with other biomarkers to diagnose gastric cancer.

A two-season soil culture experiment was continually conducted to study the effects of three organic materials,namely Danty, Peat and Biochar,respectively,on combined forms and bio-availability of cadmium (Cd) and lead (Pb) under Cd and Pb in single and combined pollution during 2014-2015. This study aimed to provide a theoretical basis for remediating greenhouse soil contaminated with heavy metals Cd and Pb using organic materials. The main results were as follows: the content of DTPA-Cd decreased significantly by 11.9%(P<0.05) in the soil of Cd and Pb combined pollution with the application of danty, the total of exchangeable Cd, carbonate-bound Cd and iron-manganese oxide bound Cd was reduced by 26.4% and 34.4% in the soil, and the accumulation of Cd in shoots was significantly cut down by 32.0% and 28.0% (P<0.05) respectively in Cd single and Cd and Pb combined pollution after applying danty; the content of DTPA-Pb was significantly depleted by 83.5% and 83.8%(P<0.05), the total of exchangeable Pb, carbonate-bound Pb and iron-manganese oxide bound Pb was decreased by 34.5% and 13.9% in the soil and the accumulation of Pb in shoots was significantly reduced by 32.0% and 30.0% (P<0.05) in Pb single and Cd and Pb combined pollution respectively as the use of danty. The content of DTPA-Cd was significantly decreased by 18.9% (P<0.05) in the soil of Cd and Pb combined pollution with the use of peat, the accumulation of Cd in shoots was reduced by 38.0% and 23.4%(P<0.05) in Cd single and Cd-Pb combined pollution respectively after the application of peat; The content of DTPA-Pb was significantly decreased by 2.7% and 7.2%(P<0.05), the total of exchangeable Pb, carbonate-bound Pb and iron-manganese oxide bound Pb was decreased by 15.8% and 14.6% in the soil and the accumulation of Pb in shoots was significantly reduced by 12.7% and 23.4% (P<0.05) respectively in Pb single and Cd and Pb combined pollution due to the application of peat. The pH value of the soil was increased by the use of biochar, the content of DTPA-Cd was reduced by 4.7% and 15.0% respectively in the soil of Cd single and Cd and Pb combined pollution, and the accumulation of Cd in shoots was significantly minified by 38.0% and 23.4% respectively in Cd single and Cd and Pb combined pollution as the application of biochar. The content of DTPA-Pb was decreased by 6.8% and 1.0% and the total of exchangeable Pb, carbonate-bound Pb and iron-manganese oxide bound Pb was cut down by 11.9% and 30.0% in the soil of Pb single and Cd and Pb combined pollution respectively by the application of biochar. The content of Cd in plant was most significantly positively correlated with the content of exchangeable Cd in soil (P<0.01). The content of Pb in plant was most significantly positively correlated with the total of exchangeable Pb, carbonate-bound Pb and iron-manganese oxide bound Pb (P<0.01). In summary, after the application of danty, peat and biochar, the proportion of highly active content of Cd and Pb was minified through adjusting soil pH and immobilizing Cd and Pb by means of adsorption and complexation in greenhouse soil. With the analysis of input-output, the application of danty, peat and biochar costs 4050 yuan·hm-2, 11250 yuan·hm-2 and 22500 yuan·hm-2, respectively. Thus danty, peat and biochar could be used as effective organic agents in the remediation of Cd and Pb contaminated greenhouse soil.

BACKGROUND: The clinicopathological characteristics, treatment response and long-term outcome of immunoglobulin (Ig)A nephropathy with minimal change disease (MCD-IgAN) are not well defined. METHODS: Patients with biopsy-proven MCD-IgAN from the Jinling Hospital IgA nephropathy Registry were systematically reviewed and compared with those with IgA nephropathy without minimal change disease (Non-MCD-IgAN). RESULTS: We compared data of 247 MCD-IgAN patients and 1,121 Non-MCD-IgAN patients. Compared to Non-MCD-IgAN, MCD-IgAN patients were younger,with male predominance, had higher levels of proteinuria, total cholesterol and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), lower incidence of hypertension and microhematuria, lower level of serum creatinine, and had less severe glomerular, tubulointerstitial and vascular lesions in renal pathology. In the Non-MCD-IgAN group, 157 patients (14.0 %) reached the renal endpoint and 103 patients (9.2 %) entered end-stage renal disease (ESRD). The 5-,10-, 15- and 20-year cumulative renal survival rates from ESRD, calculated by Kaplan-Meier method, were 95.0, 83.0, 72.9 and 65.4 %, respectively. In the MCD-IgAN group, no patients entered ESRD and only 4 (1.6 %) reached the renal endpoint. Patients with MCD-IgAN had a significantly better renal outcome than Non-MCD-IgAN (p < 0.01). At multivariate Cox analysis, proteinuria >1.0 g/day, hypertension, eGFR <60 ml/min/1.73 m(2), hypoproteinemia and hyperuricemia were independent risk factors of renal survival for Non-MCD-IgAN patients [hazard ratio (HR) 3.43, p < 0.001; HR 1.65, p < 0.05; HR 2.61, p < 0.001; HR 2.40, p < 0.001; HR 2.27, p < 0.001, respectively), but not for patients with MCD-IgAN. CONCLUSIONS: The long-term outcome of patients with MCD-IgAN is significantly better than that of patients with Non-MCD-IgAN.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the correlation between mental disorder and craniocerebral injury, and notifying its related risk factors. METHODS: 342 patients from Sep. 2008 to Sep. 2012 with craniocerebral injury were selected and related clinical data on general their conditions, including sex, age, educational level, satisfaction on careers and relations to family were collected. All the patients received CT-scans to the head, IQ test, MQ test, SCID-1/P, PDQC and SCICP detection. Multivariate logistic regression was used to analyze the general information and cerebral injurious conditions of patients regarding the incidence of mental disorders. RESULTS: 249 patients with mental disorder were noticed out of the total 342 patients with craniocerebral injury, with the incidence rate as 72.8% including 117 depression (47.0%), 95 anxiety disorders (38.2%), 27 mania (10.8%), 69 intelligence and memory disorders (27.7%) cases. Data from correlation analysis showed that factors as sex, age, educational level, satisfaction on careers and family of patients as well as type, severity and location of the craniocerebral injuries appeared to have important correlation with mental disorder. RESULTS: also showed that the age of patients (OR > 1.04), severity and location of the craniocerebral injuries (OR1 > 1.28, OR2 > 1.31) were independent risk factors (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: The age of patients, severity and location of the craniocerebral injuries were independent risk factors for mental disorder in patients with craniocerebral injury.
