RESUMEN

Clinical evidence suggests that poor persistence of chimeric antigen receptor-T cells (CAR-T) in patients limits therapeutic efficacy. Here, we designed a CAR with recyclable capability to promote in vivo persistence and to sustain antitumor activity. We showed that the engagement of tumor antigens induced rapid ubiquitination of CARs, causing CAR downmodulation followed by lysosomal degradation. Blocking CAR ubiquitination by mutating all lysines in the CAR cytoplasmic domain (CARKR) markedly repressed CAR downmodulation by inhibiting lysosomal degradation while enhancing recycling of internalized CARs back to the cell surface. Upon encountering tumor antigens, CARKR-T cells ameliorated the loss of surface CARs, which promoted their long-term killing capacity. Moreover, CARKR-T cells containing 4-1BB signaling domains displayed elevated endosomal 4-1BB signaling that enhanced oxidative phosphorylation and promoted memory T cell differentiation, leading to superior persistence in vivo. Collectively, our study provides a straightforward strategy to optimize CAR-T antitumor efficacy by redirecting CAR trafficking.

Phosphate (Pi) is essential for plant growth and development. One strategy to improve Pi use efficiency is to enhance Pi remobilization among leaves. Using transcriptome analysis with first (top) and fourth (down) leaf blades from rice (Oryza sativa) in Pi-sufficient and deficient conditions, we identified 1384 genes differentially expressed among these leaf blades. These genes were involved in physiological processes, metabolism, transport, and photosynthesis. Moreover, we identified the Pi efflux transporter gene, OsPHO1;3, responding to Pi-supplied conditions among these leaf blades. OsPHO1;3 is highly expressed in companion cells of phloem, but not xylem, in leaf blades and induced by Pi starvation. Mutation of OsPHO1;3 led to Pi accumulation in second to fourth leaves under Pi-sufficient conditions, but enhanced Pi levels in first leaves under Pi-deficient conditions. These Pi accumulations in leaves of Ospho1;3 mutants resulted from induction of OsPHT1;2 and OsPHT1;8 in root and reduction of Pi remobilization in leaf blades, revealed by the decreased Pi in phloem of leaves. Importantly, lack of OsPHO1;3 caused growth defects under a range of Pi-supplied conditions. These results demonstrate that Pi remobilization is essential for Pi homeostasis and plant growth irrespective of Pi-supplied conditions, and OsPHO1;3 plays an essential role in Pi remobilization for normal plant growth.

The tumor necrosis factor α-induced protein 8 (TIPE, also TNFAIP8 or OXi-α) family is a newly discovered series of proteins involved in immune regulation and tumorigenesis. TIPE1, a member of the TIPE/TNFAIP8/OXi-α family, has emerged as an anticancer-drug target, as it promotes cancer cell apoptosis and inhibits cell proliferation. The current study aimed to systematically reveal that TIPE1 regulates the activity of protein arginine methyltransferase (PRMT)-1 and the subsequent methylation of signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT)-3 to suppress oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) growth. TIPE1 was down-regulated in the OSCC cell lines (Tca8113, SCC25, Cal27, SCC15, and HSC27). TIPE1 overexpression significantly inhibited cell proliferation, colony formation, in vivo tumorgenicity, and Ki-67 expression in OSCC. TIPE1 interacted with the catalytic region of PRMT1 and inhibited STAT3 methylation. The effects of TIPE1 on OSCC cells were alleviated after PRMT1 overexpression, confirming the importance of this interaction to the tumor-suppressive effects of TIPE1. Together, these findings confirmed that TIPE1 mediated PRMT1 suppression through direct binding to its catalytic domain and subsequently inhibited the methylation and expression of STAT3 in OSCC cells, thereby inhibiting cell growth and tumorgenicity.

Extracting interior photoinduced species to the surface before their recombination is of great importance in pursuing high-efficiency semiconductor-based photocatalysis. Traditional strategies toward charge-carrier extraction, mostly relying on the construction of an electric field gradient, would be invalid toward the neutral-exciton counterpart in low-dimensional systems. In this work, by taking bismuth oxybromide (BiOBr) as an example, we manipulate interior exciton extraction to the surface by implementing iodine doping at the edges of BiOBr plates. Spatial- and time-resolved spectroscopic analyses verified the accumulation of excitons and charge carriers at the edges of iodine-doped BiOBr (BiOBr-I) plates. This phenomenon could be associated with interior exciton extraction, driven by an energy-level gradient between interior and edge exciton states, and the following exciton dissociation processes. As such, BiOBr-I shows remarkable performance in photocatalytic C-H fluorination, mediated by both energy- and charge-transfer processes. This work uncovers the importance of spatial regulation of excitonic properties in low-dimensional semiconductor-based photocatalysis.

Redox-active tetrathiafulvalene (TTF)-based covalent organic frameworks (COFs) exhibit distinctive electrochemical and photoelectrical properties, but their prevalent two-dimensional (2D) structure with densely packed TTF moieties limits the accessibility of redox center and constrains their potential applications. To overcome this challenge, an 8-connected TTF linker (TTF-8CHO) is designed as a new building block for the construction of three-dimensional (3D) COFs. This approach led to the successful synthesis of a 3D COF with the bcu topology, designated as TTF-8CHO-COF. In comparison to its 2D counterpart employing a 4-connected TTF linker, the 3D COF design enhances access to redox sites, facilitating controlled oxidation by I2 or Au3+ to tune physical properties. When irradiated with a 0.7 W cm-2 808 nm laser, the oxidized 3D COF samples ( I X - ${\mathrm{I}}_{\mathrm{X}}^{-}$ @TTF-8CHO-COF and Au NPs@TTF-8CHO-COF) demonstrated rapid temperature increases of 239.3 and 146.1 °C, respectively, which surpassed those of pristine 3D COF (65.6 °C) and the 2D COF counterpart (6.4 °C increment after I2 treatment). Furthermore, the oxidation of the 3D COF heightened its photoelectrical responsiveness under 808 nm laser irradiation. This augmentation in photothermal and photoelectrical response can be attributed to the higher concentration of TTF·+ radicals generated through the oxidation of well-exposed TTF moieties.

The entanglement properties of quantum synchronization, based on a single-ion phonon laser subjected to an external drive, have been studied. It is found that the maximum value of steady-state entanglement between the ion's internal and external states occurs near the noiseless boundary from synchronization to unsynchronization, accompanied by noticeable oscillatory behaviors during the corresponding time evolution of entanglement. In addition, the later time dynamics of entanglement also indicates the occurrence of frequency entrainment, as evidenced by the strong consistency between the bending of the observed frequency and the emergence of Liouvillian exceptional points (LEPs) in the first two eigenvalues of the Liouvillian eigenspectrum. Moreover, the emergence of LEPs, which is intimately associated with frequency entrainment, should be widely observed in quantum synchronization and can be explored in LEPs-based applications.

PURPOSE: To evaluate the quality of guidelines on the pancreatic perioperative enhanced recovery after surgery both domestically and internationally, providing reference and reference for clinical practice. METHODS: Systemically retrieved in the guideline websites, professional association websites and databases, such as up to date, BMJ Best Practice, PubMed, Embase, The Cochrane Library, Web of Science, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wan Fang Data, China Science and Technology Journal Database(VIP), China Biology Medicine disc (CBMdisc), Medlive, Guidelines International Network(GIN), National Guideline Clearinghouse(NGC), National Institute for Health and Care Excellence(NICE), Registered Nurses Association of Ontario(RNAO), Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network(SIGN), Joanna Briggs Institute Library(JBI), including guidelines and expert consensus on enhanced postsurgical recovery in pancreatic surgery published as of December 20, 2023. The Appraisal of Guidelines for Research and Evaluation II(AGREE II) tool was applied to evaluate the quality of the guidelines by four assessors. RESULTS: This study included seven guidelines, all of which were rated as Grade B in terms of quality, with ICC coefficients ranging from 0.752 to 0.884, indicating a high level of consistency. CONCLUSION: When formulating guidelines in the future, it is recommended to use AGREE II as a reference, emphasizing the standardization of the guideline development process and methods, fully considering patients' values and preferences, focusing on the applicability of the guidelines, and striving to create high-quality evidence-based recommendations.

Within the Huaihe River Basin, Guohe River, as its second-largest tributary, serves as a critical water supply source. Recent industrial and agricultural advancements have led to increased trace element contamination, adversely impacting the water quality within Guohe River Basin. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the distribution characteristics, sources, water quality and risk assessment of trace elements in the surface water, groundwater, and sediments across the basin. The results showed that the spatial distribution of trace elements in the surface water and groundwater of Guohe River Basin was that most of the high concentrations appeared in Qiaocheng District of Bozhou City, the mean concentration of Fe in Guohe River sediments was the highest, the mean concentration of Sb was the lowest. The PMF source analysis results showed that the main source of trace elements in Guohe River Basin was natural geological processes, followed by human activities. The sodium adsorption ratio (SAR) indicated that the surface water samples of Guohe River in two seasons had high sodium and salinity hazards. The water quality index (WQI) showed that surface water and groundwater samples in the northwestern of Guohe River Basin had poor water quality. The results of the risk assessment showed that As and Mn posed great ecological risks to surface water and groundwater, respectively, and that F- was the pollutant with the most potential health risk hazard in the basin. The Geo-accumulation index (Igeo) results showed that Cd, Se and As should be taken seriously as the main contaminants of the sediments in Guohe River Basin. The rational design of porous covalent organic frameworks (COFs) with high conductivity and reversible redox activity is the key to improving their performance in sodium-ion batteries (SIBs). Herein, we report a series of COFs (FPDC-TPA-COF, FPDC-TPB-COF, and FPDC-TPT-COF) based on an organosulfur linker, (trioxocyclohexane-triylidene)tris(dithiole-diylylidene))hexabenzaldehyde (FPDC). These COFs feature two-dimensional crystalline structures, high porosity, good conductivity, and densely packed redox-active sites, making them suitable for energy storage devices. Among them, FPDC-TPT-COF demonstrates a remarkably high specific capacity of 420 mAh g-1 (0.2 A g-1), excellent cycling stability (~87% capacity retention after 3000 cycles, 1.0 A g-1) and high rate performance (339 mAh g-1 at 2.0 A g-1) as an anode for SIBs, surpassing most reported COF-based electrodes. The superior performance is attributed to the dithiole moieties enhancing the conductivity and the presence of redox-active carbonyl, imine, and triazine sites facilitating Na storage. Furthermore, the sodiation mechanism was elucidated through in-situ experiments and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. This work highlights the advantages of integrating multiple functional groups into redox-active COFs for the rational design of efficient and stable SIBs.

Increasing evidences showed that ovulatory dysfunction, possibly caused by luteinized unruptured follicular follicle syndrome (LUFS), is one of the reasons for endometriosis-related infertility. The present study was conducted to explore the potential effect of elevated progesterone in follicular fluid (FF) on ovulation in endometriosis. A prospective study including 50 ovarian endometriosis patients and 50 control patients with matched pairs design was conducted with alterations in FF and peritoneal fluid (PF) components identified by metabolomics analyses and differentially expressed genes in granulosa cells (GCs) identified by transcriptome analysis. Patients with endometriosis exhibited a significantly higher progesterone level in serum, FF, and PF. Granulosa cells from endometriosis patients revealed decreased expression of HPGD, COX-2, and suppressed NF-ĸB signaling. Similarly, progesterone treatment in vitro downregulated HPGD and COX2 expression and suppressed NF-ĸB signaling in granulosa tumor-like cell line KGN (Bena Culture Collection, China) and primarily cultured GCs, as manifested by decreased expressions of IL1R1, IRAK3, reduced pIĸBα/IĸBα ratio, and nucleus translocation of p65. On the contrary, TNF-α treatment increased expression of IL1R1, IRAK3, pIĸBα, p65, and HPGD in GCs. One potential p65 binding site was identified in the promoter region of HPGD by chromatin immunoprecipitation. In conclusion, we found that intrafollicular progesterone might downregulate HPGD and COX-2 in GCs via suppressing the NF-ĸB signaling pathway, shedding light on the mechanism underlying the endometriosis-related ovulatory dysfunction.

This study aimed to investigate the biological effects and underlying mechanisms of the total ginsenosides from Panax ginseng stems and leaves on lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced acute lung injury(ALI) in mice. Sixty male C57BL/6J mice were randomly divided into a control group, a model group, the total ginsenosides from P. ginseng stems and leaves normal administration group(61.65 mg·kg~(-1)), and low-, medium-, and high-dose total ginsenosides from P. ginseng stems and leaves groups(15.412 5, 30.825, and 61.65 mg·kg~(-1)). Mice were administered for seven continuous days before modeling. Twenty-four hours after modeling, mice were sacrificed to obtain lung tissues and calculate lung wet/dry ratio. The number of inflammatory cells in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid(BALF) was detected. The levels of interleukin-1ß(IL-1ß), interleukin-6(IL-6), and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) in BALF were detected. The mRNA expression levels of IL-1ß, IL-6, and TNF-α, and the levels of myeloperoxidase(MPO), glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px), superoxide dismutase(SOD), and malondialdehyde(MDA) in lung tissues were determined. Hematoxylin-eosin(HE) staining was used to observe the pathological changes in lung tissues. The gut microbiota was detected by 16S rRNA sequencing, and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS) was applied to detect the content of short-chain fatty acids(SCFAs) in se-rum. The results showed that the total ginsenosides from P. ginseng stems and leaves could reduce lung index, lung wet/dry ratio, and lung damage in LPS-induced ALI mice, decrease the number of inflammatory cells and levels of inflammatory factors in BALF, inhibit the mRNA expression levels of inflammatory factors and levels of MPO and MDA in lung tissues, and potentiate the activity of GSH-Px and SOD in lung tissues. Furthermore, they could also reverse the gut microbiota disorder, restore the diversity of gut microbiota, increase the relative abundance of Lachnospiraceae and Muribaculaceae, decrease the relative abundance of Prevotellaceae, and enhance the content of SCFAs(acetic acid, propionic acid, and butyric acid) in serum. This study suggested that the total ginsenosides from P. ginseng stems and leaves could improve lung edema, inflammatory response, and oxidative stress in ALI mice by regulating gut microbiota and SCFAs metabolism.

Nitrate-containing industrial wastewater poses a serious threat to the global food security and public health safety. As compared to the traditional microbial denitrification, electrocatalytic nitrate reduction shows better sustainability with ultrahigh energy efficiency and the production of high-value ammonia (NH3 ). However, nitrate-containing wastewater from most industrial processes, such as mining, metallurgy, and petrochemical engineering, is generally acidic, which contradicts the typical neutral/alkaline working conditions for both denitrifying bacteria and the state-of-the-art inorganic electrocatalysts, leading to the demand for pre-neutralization and the problematic hydrogen evaluation reaction (HER) competition and catalyst dissolution. Here, we report a series of Fe2 M (M=Fe, Co, Ni, Zn) trinuclear cluster metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) that enable the highly efficient electrocatalytic nitrate reduction to ammonium under strong acidic conditions with excellent stability. In pH=1 electrolyte, the Fe2 Co-MOF demonstrates the NH3 yield rate of 20653.5 µg h-1 mg-1 site with 90.55 % NH3 -Faradaic efficiency (FE), 98.5 % NH3 -selectivity and up to 75 hr of electrocatalytic stability. Additionally, successful nitrate reduction in high-acidic conditions directly produce the ammonium sulfate as nitrogen fertilizer, avoiding the subsequent aqueous ammonia extraction and preventing the ammonia spillage loss. This series of cluster-based MOF structures provide new insights into the design principles of high-performance nitrate reduction catalysts under environmentally-relevant wastewater conditions.

Combining the chemistry of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent organic frameworks (COFs) can bring new opportunities for the design of advanced materials with enhanced tunability and functionality. Herein, we constructed two COFs based on Ni-bis(dithiolene) units and imine bonds, representing a bridge between traditional MOFs and COFs. The Ni-bis(dithiolene)tetrabenzaldehyde as the 4-connected linker was initially synthesized, which was further linked by 4-connected tetra(aminophenyl)pyrene (TAP) or 3-connected tris(aminophenyl)amine (TAA) linkers into two COFs, namely, Ni-TAP and Ni-TAA. Ni-TAP shows a two-dimensional sql network, while TAA is a twofold interpenetrated framework with an ffc topology. They both exhibit a high Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface area (324 and 689 m2 g-1 for Ni-TAP and Ni-TAA, respectively), a fairly good conductivity (1.57 × 10-6 and 9.75 × 10-5 S m-1 for Ni-TAP and Ni-TAA, respectively), and high chemical stability (a stable pH window of 1-14 for Ni-TAA). When applied in lithium metal batteries as an intermediate layer for guiding the uniform Li electrodeposition, Ni-TAP and Ni-TAA displayed impressive lithiophilicity and high Li-ion conductivity, enabling the achievement of smooth and dense Li deposition with a clear columnar morphology and stable Li plating/stripping behaviors with high Li utilization, which is anticipated to pave the way to upgrade Li metal anodes for application in high-energy-density battery systems.

BACKGROUND: Embryos with higher morphologic quality grading may have a greater potential to achieve clinical pregnancy that leads to a live birth regardless of the type of cleavage-stage embryos or blastocysts. Few studies have investigated the impacts of embryo grading on the long-term health of the offspring. OBJECTIVE: This pilot study aimed to examine the associations between embryo morphologic quality and the physical, metabolic, and cognitive development of singletons conceived by in vitro fertilization and intracytoplasmic sperm injection at preschool age. STUDY DESIGN: This matched cohort study included singletons born to infertile couples who underwent fresh cleavage-stage embryo transfer cycles with good- or poor-quality embryos from 2014 to 2016 at the reproductive center of the Women's Hospital, School of Medicine, Zhejiang University. A total of 144 children, aged 4 to 6 years, participated in the follow-up assessment from 2020 to 2021, and the response rate of poor-quality embryo offspring was 39%. Singletons in the good-quality embryo group were matched with singletons in the poor-quality embryo group at a 2:1 ratio according to the fertilization method and the children's age (±1 year). We measured the offspring's height, weight, body mass index, blood pressure, thyroid hormone levels, and metabolic indicators. Neurodevelopmental assessments were performed using the Chinese version of the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence, Fourth Edition, and the Adaptive Behavior Assessment System, Second Edition. We also collected data from the medical records. A linear regression model was used to analyze the association between embryo morphologic quality and offspring health outcomes. RESULTS: A total of 48 singletons conceived with poor-quality embryo transfer and 96 matched singletons conceived with good-quality embryo transfer were included in the final analysis. Age, sex, height, weight, body mass index, blood pressure, thyroid function, and metabolic indicators were comparable between the 2 groups. After adjustment for potential risk factors by linear regression model 1 and model 2, poor-quality embryo offspring exhibited a tendency toward higher free thyroxine levels than offspring of good-quality embryo transfers (beta, 0.22; 95% confidence interval, 0.09-0.90; beta, 0.22; 95% confidence interval, 0.09-0.91, respectively), but this difference was not clinically significant. Regarding neurodevelopmental assessments, there was no difference in the full-scale intelligence quotient based on the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence (109.96±12.42 vs 109.60±14.46; P=.88) or the general adaptive index based on the Adaptive Behavior Assessment System (108.26±11.70 vs 108.08±13.44; P=.94) between the 2 groups. The subindices of the 2 tests were also comparable. These findings remained after linear regression analysis. CONCLUSION: At 4 to 6 years of age, singletons born from poor-quality embryo transfers have comparable metabolic and cognitive development as those born from good-quality embryo transfers using fresh cleavage-stage embryos. The results of this pilot study indicate that poor-quality embryos that can survive implantation and end in live birth are likely to have a developmental potential comparable to that of good-quality embryos.

Herein we report Lewis acid HfCl4-catalyzed [4 + 2] cycloaddition between ß,γ-unsaturated α-keto esters and various symmetric or unsymmetric alkynes, giving the desired polysubstituted 4H-pyrans in up to 98% yield and with excellent regioselectivity (>99:1) via a vinyl carbocation under mild conditions.

BACKGROUND: Tripterygium Wilfordii Hook F (TwHF) preparation has been widely used in the treatments of IgA nephropathy (IgAN) in China. However, the effectiveness and safety of the new generation of TwHF preparation, KuxXian capsule, on the treatment of IgAN remains unknown. METHODS: Here, we retrospectively describe our experience treating 55 consecutive IgAN patients with KunXian. We defined complete remission as proteinuria < 0.5 g/24 h and partial remission as proteinuria < 1 g/24 h, each also having > 50% reduction in proteinuria from baseline. RESULTS: At first follow-up after KunXian treatment (5.7 weeks, IQR 4.7-7.9), all but two patients (96%) showed a reduction in proteinuria. The overall median proteinuria decreased from 2.23 g/day at baseline to 0.94 g/day (P < 0.001) at the first follow-up. During a median follow-up of 28 weeks after KunXian administration, 25(45.5%) patients achieved complete remission, 34 (61.8%) patients achieved complete/partial remission. Of the 12 patients discontinued KunXian treatment during the follow-up, the median proteinuria was increased from 0.97 g/24 h to 2.74 g/24 h after a median of 10.9 weeks (P = 0.004). Multivariable Cox models showed that female, treatment switching from previous generation of TwHF preparation, lower initial KunXian dosage, and higher proteinuria at baseline were independently associated proteinuria remission. Of the 20 pre-menopausal females, 12 of them developed oligomenorrhea or menstrual irregularity and ten of them developed amenorrhea. CONCLUSION: KunXian is effectiveness and safety for the treatment of IgA nephropathy. Woman of childbearing age to be informed of the risk of ovarian failure after being treated with TwHF preparations.

BACKGROUND: The urine protein-creatinine ratio (UPCR) in a spot first-morning urine sample is used to estimate 24-h urine proteinuria (24hUP) in patients who underwent urine protein testing. UPCR cannot be directly compared with 24-h proteinuria. Thus, an equation to estimate 24-h total protein excretion rate, using age, gender, and the UPCR may improve its bias and accuracy in patients who underwent urine protein testing. METHODS: We simultaneously measured 24-h urine protein and the same day's first-morning spot urine from patients with kidney disease. Generalized linear and no-linear models, using age, gender, and UPCR, were constructed to estimate for 24-h urine protein and the best model (NJ equation) was selected to estimated 24 hUP (e24hUP). RESULTS: A total of 5435 paired samples (including a training cohort of 3803 patients and a validation cohort of 1632 patients) were simultaneously measured for UPCR and 24-h urine protein. In the training cohort, the unadjusted UPCR obviously underestimated 24-h urine protein when UPCR ≤1.2 g/g (median bias - 0.17 g/24 h) and overestimated 24-h urine protein when UPCR > 1.2 g/g (median bias 0.53 g/24 h). In the validation cohort, the NJ equation performed better than the unadjusted UPCR, with lower root mean square error (0.81 vs. 1.02, P < 0.001), less bias (median difference between measured and estimated urine protein, - 0.008 vs. 0.12), improved precision (interquartile range of the differences, 0.34 vs. 0.50), and greater accuracy (percentage of estimated urine protein within 30% of measured urine protein, 53.4% vs. 32.2%). Bland-Altman plot indicated that the agreement of spot and daily estimates was less pronounced with 24 hUP > 2 g than lower values. CONCLUSIONS: The NJ e24hUP equation is more accurate than unadjusted UPCR to estimate 24 hUP in patients with kidney disease and could be used for laboratory application.

Our current research aims to evaluate the efficiency of a flavor enhancer, maltol (produced by heating ginseng) against cisplatin-evoked cardiotoxicity by establishing cisplatin-induced heart injury in vivo and H9C2 rat cardiomyocyte model. The cisplatin-treated mice at 3 mg/kg for four times on the 7th, 9th, 11th and 13th day, and in them appeared a serious cardiac damage accompanied with the increase in indicators of heart damage. Multiple exposure of 3 mg/kg for four times of cisplatin increased cardiac cells apoptosis with increased expression of Bax and cleaved-caspase 3, and decreased expression of Bcl-2. Interestingly, supplement of maltol at doses of 50 and 100 mg/kg for 15 days significantly suppressed the cardiac disturbance. In cultured H9C2 cells, maltol enhanced PI3K/Akt expression level during cisplatin treatment, and reduced cisplatin-induced apoptosis. Notably, inhibition of PI3K/Akt by LY294002 and HY-10249A lessened the efficacy of maltol. In mice, maltol apparently induced PI3K/Akt in heart tissues and protected against cisplatin-induced cardiotoxicity. In conclusion, maltol exerted the protective effects against cisplatin-induced cardiotoxicity, at least partially by inhibiting the activation of PI3K/Akt signaling pathways in cardiomyocytes, to ease oxidative stress, and alleviate reactive oxygen species-mediated apoptosis.

The occurrence of stress is unavoidable in the process of livestock production, and prolonged stress will cause the decrease of livestock productivity. The stress response is mainly regulated by the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis (HPA axis), which produces a large amount of stress hormones, namely glucocorticoids (GCs), and generates a severe impact on the energy metabolism of the animal body. It is reported that m6A modification plays an important role in the regulation of stress response and also participates in the process of muscle growth and development. In this study, we explored the effect of GCs on the protein synthesis procession of porcine skeletal muscle cells (PSCs). We prove that dexamethasone affects the expression of SLC7A7, a main amino acid transporter for protein synthesis by affecting the level of m6A modification in PSCs. In addition, we find that SLC7A7 affects the level of PSC protein synthesis by regulating the conduction of the mTOR signaling pathway, which indicates that the reduction of SLC7A7 expression may alleviate the level of protein synthesis under stress conditions.

Controlled hydration leads to four derivatives of a metal-organic framework consisting of cadmium ions, N1,N1,N4,N4-tetrakis(4-(pyridin-4-yl)phenyl)benzene-1,4-diamine, and coordinated and free nitrates. The balance of water coordination and the multitude of bonding of the weakly coordinated nitrate lead to a progressive change in the coordination number of the Cd2+ ions from eight to seven to six without great perturbation to the 4-fold interpenetration three-dimensional framework.
