RESUMEN

Development of biomarkers for predicting the occurrence of hepatitis E virus related-acute liver failure (HEV-ALF) is conducive to prevention and early intervention. Serum samples from 250 HEV-ALF patients, 250 patients with acute hepatitis E (AHE) and 250 health controls (HCs) were collected. We assessed the predictive ability of extracellular vesicle (EV)-derived argininosuccinate synthase 1 (ASS1) levels for HEV-ALF occurrence. Serum EVs were successfully isolated. EV-derived ASS1 levels in the HEV-ALF patients were significantly higher than those in the AHE patients and HCs. In HEV-ALF patients, EV-derived ASS1 levels were positively correlated with the number of failed organs and disease progression. The logistical regression showed that EV-derived ASS1 level is an independent risk factor for HEV-ALF, and orthogonal partial least squares discriminant analysis (OPLS-DA) also suggested that EV-derived ASS1 level has high predictive capability. Besides, the area under the curve (AUC) of EV-derived ASS1 level to predict HEV-ALF occurrence was 0.728 (0.684-0.772) with the sensitivity and specificity being 72.80% and 64.80%, which had a high decision-making ability. Furthermore, there existed no significant difference between the age ≥60 and age <60 groups in EV-derived ASS1 levels. Serum EV-derived ASS1 level is a promising predictor for the occurrence of HEV-ALF.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Limited research has looked at the physical activity (PA) among Chinese children and adolescents with intellectual disabilities. METHODS: The Children's Leisure Activities Study Survey-Chinese version was applied in evaluating PA levels among children and adolescents with intellectual disabilities. RESULTS: The data indicated that only 29.5% of children and adolescents with intellectual disabilities met the PA recommendation. Boys engaged in significantly more MVPA and had higher energy expenditure than girls during weekdays and the whole week. The general trend in PA levels demonstrated a downtrend with the growth of age of children and adolescents with intellectual disabilities. The students aged 6-12 years old performed more MVPA and had greater energy expenditure compared with those 13-15 and 16-18 years old. CONCLUSION: The level of PA among Chinese children and youths with intellectual disabilities is remarkably low, and there is a large gap compared with the PA recommendation.

RESUMEN

Fe3C modified by the incorporation of carbon materials offers excellent electrical conductivity and interfacial lithium storage, making it attractive as an anode material in lithium-ion batteries. In this work, we describe a time- and energy-saving approach for the large-scale preparation of Fe3C nanoparticles embedded in mesoporous carbon nanosheets (Fe3C-NPs@MCNSs) by solution combustion synthesis and subsequent carbothermal reduction. Fe3C nanoparticles with a diameter of ∼5 nm were highly crystallized and compactly dispersed in mesoporous carbon nanosheets with a pore-size distribution of 3-5 nm. Fe3C-NPs@MCNSs exhibited remarkable high-rate lithium storage performance with discharge specific capacities of 731, 647, 481, 402 and 363 mA h g-1 at current densities of 0.1, 1, 2, 5 and 10 A g-1, respectively, and when the current density reduced back to 0.1 A g-1 after 45 cycles, the discharge specific capacity could perfectly recover to 737 mA h g-1 without any loss. The unique structure could promote electron and Li-ion transfer, create highly accessible multi-channel reaction sites and buffer volume variation for enhanced cycling and good high-rate lithium storage performance.
