RESUMEN
The ion-molecule reaction is one of the most important pathways for the formation of new interstellar chemical species. Herein, infrared spectra of cationic binary clusters of acrylonitrile (AN) with methanethiol (CH3SH) and dimethyl sulfide (CH3SCH3) are measured and compared to those previous studies of AN and methanol (CH3OH) or dimethyl ether (CH3OCH3). The results suggest that the ion-molecular reactions of AN with CH3SH and CH3SCH3 only yield products with S HN H-bonded or Sâ´N hemibond structures, rather than the cyclic products as observed in AN-CH3OH and AN-CH3OCH3 studied previously. The Michael addition-cyclization reaction between acrylonitrile and sulfur-containing molecules does not occur due to the weaker acidity of CH bonds in sulfur-containing molecules, which results from their weaker hyperconjugation effect compared to oxygen-containing molecules. The reduced propensity for the proton transfer from the CH bonds hinders the formation of the Michael addition-cyclization product that follows.

Direct analysis of chemical components in fresh cigarette smoke in real time is a challenging task. In this work, by using a novel continuous cigarette-pushing and smoke-introducing setup combined with synchrotron radiation photoionization mass spectrometry (SR-PIMS), the photoionization mass spectra of fresh gaseous cigarette sidestream smoke (SSS) from the combustion of solid tobacco could be recorded in real time, and the photoionization efficiency (PIE) curves of each mass peak could be obtained for the first time. Hence, lots of well-known chemical components and even isomers could be identified by their discriminated onsets or PIE curve simulation. Moreover, diimine, 2H-azirine, and sulfur monoxide, which have never been reported in cigarette smoke, were observed in cigarette SSS, and even two intermediates, ethenol and propen-2-ol, anticipated to exist were actually observed and distinguished. To increase the qualification accuracy, a new simulation method based on multiple linear regression (MLR) was developed and applied for the PIE curve simulation, where qualification mistakes caused by subjective judgements could be eliminated as far as possible.
RESUMEN
BACKGROUND: Tobacco stalk (TS), a major agricultural waste abundant in pectin, has resulted in concerns about the need for its reuse. The nicotine in TS is considered a chemical that is to\xic and hazardous to the environment. RESULTS: In this study, Bacillus tequilensis CAS-MEI-2-33 was isolated from cigar wrappers to produce alkaline pectinase using TS. Subsequently, the medium and fermentation conditions for the production of pectinase by B. tequilensis CAS-MEI-2-33 were optimized. The optimal fermentation period, pH of the initial fermentation medium, concentration of TS, and inoculum amount for B. tequilensis CAS-MEI-2-33 were 40 h, 40 g/L, 7.0, and 3%, respectively. Under optimal conditions, the pectinase activity was 1370 U/mL. Then, the enzymatic properties, such as the optimum pH, reaction temperature, temperature stability, and effects of metal ions, were studied. The optimal pH was determined to be 10.0, indicating that the enzyme was an alkaline pectinase. The optimal temperature was 40 °C, and pectinase activity was stable at 40 °C. The Ag+ metal ions were shown to remarkably promote enzyme activity. The pectinase was partly purified by ammonium sulfate precipitation, ion exchange chromatography, and Sephacryl S-100 chromatography. Sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) and LC-MS/MS analyses were utilized to analyze the pectinase. CONCLUSIONS: This study provided a new alkaline pectinase candidate and a new strategy for the use of TS.

AIM: The present study is to investigate the association between T790M status and clinical characteristics of patients with EGFR-sensitive advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who progressed the initial epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKIs) administration. METHODS: A total of 167 patients with EGFR-sensitive mutations advanced NSCLC who had successful genetic tests and progressed the initial EGFR-TKI treatment were included in this study retrospectively. The clinical and demographic characteristics of these patients were collected, which were manifested as pathological type, metastasis location, initial biopsy method, initial genetic test specimens, and baseline gene mutations status. Correlation analysis between T790M status and these characteristics was performed and prognostic analysis regarding the different subgroups was carried out accordingly. RESULTS: The prevalence of secondary T790M after resistance to initial EGFR-TKIs among the 167 patients was 52.7%. Correlation analysis indicated that the median progression-free Survival (PFS) to initial EGFR-TKIs >12 months were more likely to develop secondary T790M in univariate analysis. However, the conclusion failed to show statistically significant in multivariate analysis. Additionally, patients with intracranial progression of initial EGFR-TKIs therapy were associated with secondary EGFR-T790M. However, it should be noted that those whose best overall response was partial response (PR) during the EGFR-TKI therapy were relevant to secondary T790M. Furthermore, The median PFS of the initial EGFR-TKIs administration was longer among patients with T790M positive mutation and patients with PR reaction than those without T790M mutation and patients with stable disease (SD), respectively (median PFS: 13.6 vs 10.9 months, P=0.023) and (median PFS: 14.0 vs 10.1 months, P=0.001). CONCLUSION: This retrospective study highlighted the real-world evidence that the best efficacy and intracranial progression with initial EGFR-TKIs therapy among patients with advanced NSCLC might be the promising indicators to predict the occurrence of EGFR-T790M. Patients with PR reaction and T790M positive mutation conferred longer PFS of the initial EGFR-TKIs administration. Also, the conclusion should be confirmed in more patients with advanced NSCLC subsequently.
RESUMEN
Although existing research has discussed the impact of market strategy or non-market strategy on corporate legitimacy thoroughly, there is limited research on the joint role of the two strategies. Based on the big data analysis of media coverage, this study addresses this research gap by using a sample of Chinese listed firms during 1999-2018. Our finding reveals that positive media coverage promotes corporate financial performance, and advertising intensity and corporate donation strengthen this relationship. However, the simultaneous application of market and non-market strategies diminishes the effect of both strategies on the expansion of corporate legitimacy. This study extends the literature on the impact of corporate strategies on corporate legitimacy by highlighting the joint role of the corporate market and non-market strategies.

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) restrictions, including national lockdown, social distancing, compulsory quarantine, and organizational measures of remote working, are imposed in many countries and organizations to combat the coronavirus. The various restrictions have caused different impacts on the employees' mental health worldwide. The purpose of this mini-review is to investigate the impact of COVID-19 restrictions on employees' mental health across the world. We searched articles in Web of Science and Google Scholar, selecting literature focusing on employees' mental health conditions under COVID-19 restrictions. The findings reveal that the psychological impacts of teleworking are associated with employees' various perceptions of its pros and cons. The national lockdown, quarantine, and resuming to work can cause mild to severe mental health issues, whereas the capability to practice social distancing is positively related to employees' mental health. Generally, employees in developed countries have experienced the same negative and positive impacts on mental health, whereas, in developing countries, employees have reported a more negative effect of the restrictions. One explanation is that the unevenly distributed mental health resources and assistances in developed and developing countries.

In the papermaking industry (reconstituted tobacco), a large number of tobacco stems, dust, and fines are discharged in the wastewater. This high salinity wastewater rich in ionic constituents and nicotine is difficult to be degraded by conventional biological treatment and is a serious threat that needs to be overcome. Electrodialysis (ED) has proved a feasible technique to remove the inorganic components in the papermaking wastewater. However, the fouling in ion exchange membranes causes deterioration of membranes, which causes a decrease in the flux and an increase in the electrical resistance of the membranes. In this study, the fouling potential of the membranes was analyzed by comparing the properties of the pristine and fouled ion exchange membranes. The physical and chemical properties of the ion exchange membranes were investigated in terms of electrical resistance, water content, and ion exchange capacity, as well as studied by infrared spectroscopy (IR) spectra, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) analyses. The results indicated that the membrane fouling is caused by two different mechanisms. For the anion exchange membranes, the fouling is mainly caused by the charged organic anions. For the cation exchange membrane, the fouling is caused by minerals such as Ca2+ and Mg2+. These metal ions reacted with OH- ions generated by water dissociation and precipitated on the membrane surface. The chemical cleaning with alkaline and acid could mitigate the fouling potential of the ion exchange membranes.

Osteoporosis (OP) and osteoporotic fractures are becoming a serious health care issue in the world. Calcium and vitamin D are the basic treatment for osteoporosis. Nonetheless, they do not effectively reduce the incidences of fracture. Currently approved treatments for osteoporosis include selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERMs), bisphosphonates, denosumab, teriparatide, calcitonin and others. However, the appearance of some adverse effects including atypical fracture and breast cancer has limited long-term treatments above mentioned. Therefore, treatment decision should be made on an individual basis, taking into account the relative benefits and risks in different patients. Bone metabolism test helps to assess the patient's condition, which may ultimately lead to therapeutic options and better clinical outcomes.

A method was developed for rapid quantitative determination of cellulose in tobacco by utilizing (13)C cross polarization magic angle spinning NMR spectroscopy ((13)C CP/MAS NMR). Sample powder was loaded into NMR rotor, which was customized rotor containing a matched silicon tube as an intensity reference. (13)C CP/MAS NMR spectra of tobacco samples were processed with spectral deconvolution to obtain the area of the C-1 resonance at 105.5ppm and the internal standard at 0ppm. The ratio between the area of 105.5ppm and 0ppm of a set of standard cellulose samples was used to construct a calibration curve. The cellulose content of a tobacco sample was determined by comparison of the ratio between the area of 105.5ppm and 0ppm to the calibration curve. Results of this developed method showed good agreement with those obtained from chemical analysis. The proposed method has such advantages of accuracy, quickness and efficiency, and could be an alternative to chemical analyses of cellulose.

The present study investigated the influence of the cigarette smoke extract (CSE) on mammalian thioredoxin reductase (TrxR) activity. TrxR is a selenoenzyme with a selenocysteine (Sec) residue exposed on the enzyme's surface. This unique Sec residue is particularly susceptible to modification by numerous types of electrophiles, leading to inactivation of TrxR and consequent cytotoxicity. Cigarette smoke contains various electrophiles, and the present study showed that CSE could inhibit intracellular TrxR through causing crosslinking and alkylation of TrxR1. TrxR inhibitory capacities of various CSEs were evaluated by using mouse-liver homogenate. Among the CSEs prepared from 18 commercial cigarette brands, TrxR inhibitory capacities of the maximum and the minimum had a 2.5-fold difference. Importantly, CSE's inhibitory capacity greatly paralleled its cytotoxic potency in all cell lines used. Compared to cytotoxic assays, which have been widely used for evaluating cigarette toxicity but are not suitable for simultaneously examining a large number of cigarette samples, the present method was simple and rapid with a high-throughput feature and thus could be used as an auxiliary means to predict the cytotoxicity of a large number of cigarette samples, making it possible to extensively screen numerous agricultural and industrial measures that potentially affect cigarette safety.

The determination of hydrogen cyanide in cigarette mainstream smoke has been achieved by ion chromatography (IC) with pulsed amperometric detection (PAD). The proposed method of totally trapping whole cigarette mainstream smoke by Cambridge filters, which are treated with sodium hydroxide/ethanol solution, possesses the advantage of fast analysis time over the widespread used solution absorption method. The possible co-existing interferents are evaluated under the optimized detection conditions and excellent recoveries of cyanide are obtained. The cyanide content of absorption solution can be directly determined by the optimized IC-PAD method without any pretreatments. The linear range is 0.0147-2.45 µg/mL with R² value of 0.9997. The limit of the detection is 3 µg/L for a 25 µL injection loop. The overall relative standard deviation of the method is less than 5.20% and the recovery range from 94.3% to 101.0%. The results obtained from the developed method are in good agreement with that of continuous flow analyzer (CFA) method.
