RESUMEN

Various physical and chemical reaction processes occur in non-aqueous liquid systems, particularly in oil phase systems. Therefore, achieving efficient, accurate, controllable, and cost-effective movement and transfer of substances in the oil phase is crucial. Liquid-phase photothermal actuators (LPAs) are commonly used for material transport in liquid-phase systems due to their remote operability and precise control. However, existing LPAs typically rely on materials like hydrogels and flexible polymers, commonly unsuitable for non-aqueous liquids. Herein, a 3D porous poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF)/Ti3C2Tx actuator is developed using a solvent displacement method. It demonstrates directional movement and controlled material transport in non-aqueous liquid systems. When subject to infrared light irradiation (2.0 W cm-2), the actuator achieves motion velocities of 7.3 and 6 mm s-1 vertically and horizontally, respectively. The actuator's controllable motion capability is primarily attributed to the foam's oil-wettable properties, 3D porous oil transport network, and the excellent photothermal conversion performance of Ti3C2Tx, facilitating thermal diffusion and the Marangoni effect. Apart from multidimensional directions, the actuator enables material delivery and obstacle avoidance by transporting and releasing target objects to a predetermined position. Hence, the developed controllable actuator offers a viable solution for effective motion control and material handling in non-aqueous liquid environments.

RESUMEN

Gas sensors based on conducting polymers offer great potential for high-performance room temperature applications due to their cost-effectiveness, high-sensitivity, and operational advantage. However, their current performance is limited by the deficiency of control in conventional polymerization methods, leading to poor crystallinity and inconsistent material properties. Here, the quasi-liquid layer (QLL) on the ice surface acts as a self-regulating nano-reactor for precise control of thermodynamics and kinetics in the polymerization, resulting in a 7.62 nm thick two-dimensional (2D) polyaniline (PANI) film matching the QLL thickness. The ultra-thin film optimizes the exposure of active sites, enhancing the detection of analyte gases at low concentrations. It is validated by fabricating a chemiresistive gas sensor with the 2D PANI film, demonstrating stable room-temperature detection of ammonia down to 10 ppt in ambient air with an impressive 10% response. This achievement represents the highest sensitivity among sensors of this kind while maintaining excellent selectivity and repeatability. Moreover, the QLL-controlled polymerization strategy offers an alternative route for precise control of the polymerization process for conducting polymers, enabling the creation of advanced materials with enhanced properties.

RESUMEN

High-capacity electrochemical energy storage systems are more urgently needed than ever before with the rapid development of electric vehicles and the smart grid. The most efficient way to increase capacity is to develop electrode materials with low molecular weights. The low-cost metal halides are theoretically ideal cathode materials due to their advantages of high capacity and redox potential. However, their cubic structure and large energy barrier for deionization impede their rechargeability. Here, the reversibility of potassium halides, lithium halides, sodium halides, and zinc halides is achieved through decreasing their dimensionality by the strong π-cation interactions between metal cations and reduced graphene oxide (rGO). Especially, the energy densities of KI-, KBr-, and KCl-based materials are 722.2, 635.0, and 739.4 Wh kg-1 , respectively, which are higher than those of other cathode materials for potassium-ion batteries. In addition, the full-cell with 2D KI/rGO as cathode and graphite as anode demonstrates a lifespan of over 150 cycles with a considerable capacity retention of 57.5%. The metal halides-based electrode materials possess promising application prospects and are worthy of more in-depth researches.

RESUMEN

Proteus mirabilis, a naturally resistant zoonotic bacterium belonging to the Enterobacteriaceae family, has exhibited an alarming increase in drug resistance. Consequently, there is an urgent need to explore alternative antimicrobial agents. Bacteriophages, viruses that selectively target bacteria, are abundant in the natural environment and have demonstrated potential as a promising alternative to antibiotics. In this study, we successfully isolated four strains of Proteus mirabilis phages from sewage obtained from a chicken farm in Sichuan, China. Subsequently, we characterized one of the most potent lytic phages, Q29, by examining its biological and genomic features. Comparative genomic analysis revealed the functional genes and phylogenetic evolution of Q29 phages. Our findings revealed that Proteus mirabilis bacteriophage Q29 possesses an icosahedral symmetrical head with a diameter of 95 nm and a tail length of 240 nm. Moreover, phage Q29 exhibited stability within a temperature range of 37 ℃ to 55 ℃ and under pH conditions ranging from 4 to 9. The optimal multiplicity of infection (MOI) for this phage was determined to be 0.001. Furthermore, the one-step growth curve results indicated an incubation period of approximately 15 min, an outbreak period of approximately 35 min, and an average cleavage quantity of approximately 60 plaque-forming units (PFU) per cell. The genome of phage Q29 was found to have a total length of 58,664 base pairs and encoded 335 open reading frames (ORFs) without carrying any antibiotic resistance genes. Additionally, genetic evolutionary analysis classified phage Q29 within the family Caudalidae and the genus Myotail. This study provides valuable research material for further development of Proteus mirabilis bacteriophage biologics as promising alternatives to antibiotics, particularly in light of the growing challenge of antibiotic resistance posed by this bacterium.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: A tracheal foreign body is a common airway aspiration that creates an emergency, which often causes unobserved respiratory problems and requires management. Iatrogenic tracheal foreign bodies are rarely observed, which results in tracheal obstruction. If the foreign body were removed from the tracheobronchial system, it would save lives. A similar case of a tracheal foreign body was focused on, which was caused by medical glue used during preoperative computed tomography localization of pulmonary nodules. CASE PRESENTATION: The foreign body was deposited in the right upper bronchi, accidentally discovered after anesthesia when a double-lumen tube was located by fiber bronchoscopy. Following a video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery, the foreign body was removed using a respiratory endoscopy without subsequent adverse consequences for the patient. CONCLUSIONS: There is a risk of complications from iatrogenic airway foreign bodies for preoperative localization of pulmonary nodules by injecting cyanoacrylate glue.

RESUMEN

Coulombic efficiency (CE) and cycle life of metal anodes (lithium, sodium, zinc) are limited by dendritic growth and side reactions in rechargeable metal batteries. Here, we proposed a concept for constructing an anion concentration gradient (ACG)-assisted solid-electrolyte interphase (SEI) for ultrahigh ionic conductivity on metal anodes, in which the SEI layer is fabricated through an in situ chemical reaction of the sulfonic acid polymer and zinc (Zn) metal. Owing to the driving force of the sulfonate concentration gradient and high bulky sulfonate concentration, a promoted Zn2+ ionic conductivity and inhibited anion diffusion in the SEI layer are realized, resulting in a significant suppression of dendrite growth and side reaction. The presence of ACG-SEI on the Zn metal enables stable Zn plating/stripping over 2000 h at a high current density of 20 mA cm-2 and a capacity of 5 mAh cm-2 in Zn/Zn symmetric cells, and moreover an improved cycling stability is also observed in Zn/MnO2 full cells and Zn/AC supercapacitors. The SEI layer containing anion concentration gradients for stable cycling of a metal anode sheds a new light on the fundamental understanding of cation plating/stripping on metal electrodes and technical advances of rechargeable metal batteries with remarkable performance under practical conditions.

RESUMEN

Hyaluronic acid-binding protein (HABP4) plays important roles in regulating cell cycle and apoptosis. However, its functions in regulating cell apoptosis remain unclear. To reveal the effects of HABP4 on cell proliferation, cell cycle and apoptosis, the HABP4 sequence was cloned, and we investigated the gain and loss functions of HABP4 in goat turbinate bone cells. Our results showed that a 1,496-bp HABP4 sequence was cloned successfully. The interference effect of siRNA1 on HABP4 was the strongest, reducing its mRNA expression level by 83%, decreasing the cells in the G0/G1 and S phases of the cell cycle and inhibiting cell growth and apoptosis. The overexpression of HABP4 produced contrasting results. Furthermore, an HABP4 knockdown caused the up-regulated expression of genes associated with apoptosis, including Bcl-2 and BCL2L11, but the down-regulation of Caspase3, Caspase7, Bax, PARP1, SOCS2 and P53 mRNA levels. Additionally, HABP4 overexpression significantly up-regulated the expression levels of Bax, Caspase3, Caspase7, BCL2L11, P53, SOCS2 and PARP1. However, the expression of Bcl-2 was down-regulated. These data provide an important foundation for further in-depth studies of HABP4 functions.

RESUMEN

To compare the effectiveness of culture methods for identifying yak Salmonella, three selective enrichment broths (SC, TTB, MSRV) and three media (SS, XLD, CAS) for detecting Salmonella were evaluated in this study. The results showed that TTB broth was better than SC broths and MSRV broths, and SS medium has the highest isolation rate, significantly higher than those of CAS and XLD media (P < 0.05). It is worth noticing that there was no overlapping of the positive results given by TTB, SC and MSRV broths. In addition, all of the yak Salmonella isolates were detected positive by the five reported PCR assays, targeting the invA, srfC, invE, stn and 16S-23S rRNA genes. The combination of TTB and MSRV broths and SS and CAS media (or XLD) recommended in this study was relatively efficient in recovering Salmonella from yak feces, and the five PCR assays can be successfully used to identify yak Salmonella.

RESUMEN

Mycoplasma synoviae, which causes the disease known as chicken synovitis, causes serious immunosuppression. We developed a rapid insulated isothermal polymerase chain reaction (iiPCR) assay for on-site detection of M. synoviae using a primer and probe set targeting the variable lipoprotein and haemagglutinin (vlhA) gene. In addition, the specificity, sensitivity, repeatability, and clinical detection of this method were evaluated. Our iiPCR assay detected M. synoviae clinical isolates and samples successfully and produced negative results on Mycoplasma galliscepticum, avian viral arthritis, Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Staphylococcus aureus and Corynebacterium, indicating that the PCR reactions were specific. Additionally, our iiPCR assay detected the prepared positive standard plasmid diluted 10 times (1.00 × 10-1 - 1.00 × 10-10) as a template. The undiluted positive plasmid was positive and double distilled water was negative indicating that the PCR reactions were sensitive, respectively. Finally, the vlhA positive standard plasmid with dilution multiple of 1.00 × 10-4 - 1.00 × 10-6 was repeatedly detected three times to evaluate the repeatability of the iiPCR method established in this experiment showing that the iiPCR of M. synoviae is repeatable. The established iiPCR was also used to detect 50 chicken joint enlargement samples. The thermostatic detection PCR established in this experiment was comparable to a reference real-time PCR (qPCR).

RESUMEN

Marine biological resources, serving as a renewable and sustainable reservoir, holds significant import for the utilization of composite material. Hence, we produced bamboo fiber/poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) (BF/PHB) biocomposites with exceptional performance and economic viability, drawing inspiration from the resilience of crustacean shells. Polyaminoethyl modified chitin (PAECT) was synthesized using the alkali freeze-thaw method and introduced into the interface between BF and PHB to improve interfacial adhesion. The resulting chitin fibers, characterized by their intertwined helical chains, constructed a flexible mesh structure on the BF surface through an electrostatic self-assembly approach. The interwoven PAECT filaments infiltrated the dual-phase structure, acting as a promoter of interfacial compatibility, while the flexible chitin network provided a greater capacity for deformation accommodation. Consequently, both impact and tensile strength of the BF/PHB composites were notably enhanced. Additionally, this flexible layer ameliorated the thermal stability and crystalline properties of the composites. This investigation aimed to leverage the distinctive helical configuration of chitin to facilitate the advancement of bio-reinforced composites.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: The frequent recurrence of early-stage non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is generally attributable to metastatic disease undetected at complete resection. Management of such patients depends on prognostic staging to identify the individuals most likely to have occult disease. We aimed to develop and validate a practical, reliable assay that improves risk stratification compared with conventional staging. METHODS: A 14-gene expression assay that uses quantitative PCR, runs on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue samples, and differentiates patients with heterogeneous statistical prognoses was developed in a cohort of 361 patients with non-squamous NSCLC resected at the University of California, San Francisco. The assay was then independently validated by the Kaiser Permanente Division of Research in a masked cohort of 433 patients with stage I non-squamous NSCLC resected at Kaiser Permanente Northern California hospitals, and on a cohort of 1006 patients with stage I-III non-squamous NSCLC resected in several leading Chinese cancer centres that are part of the China Clinical Trials Consortium (CCTC). FINDINGS: Kaplan-Meier analysis of the Kaiser validation cohort showed 5 year overall survival of 71·4% (95% CI 60·5-80·0) in low-risk, 58·3% (48·9-66·6) in intermediate-risk, and 49·2% (42·2-55·8) in high-risk patients (p(trend)=0·0003). Similar analysis of the CCTC cohort indicated 5 year overall survivals of 74·1% (66·0-80·6) in low-risk, 57·4% (48·3-65·5) in intermediate-risk, and 44·6% (40·2-48·9) in high-risk patients (p(trend)<0·0001). Multivariate analysis in both cohorts indicated that no standard clinical risk factors could account for, or provide, the prognostic information derived from tumour gene expression. The assay improved prognostic accuracy beyond National Comprehensive Cancer Network criteria for stage I high-risk tumours (p<0·0001), and differentiated low-risk, intermediate-risk, and high-risk patients within all disease stages. INTERPRETATION: Our practical, quantitative-PCR-based assay reliably identified patients with early-stage non-squamous NSCLC at high risk for mortality after surgical resection. RESUMEN

Chicken infectious anemia (CIA) poses a significant threat to the chicken industry in China. Due to its non-specific symptoms, the disease is often overlooked. This study aimed to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the etiology and pathology of CIA in Guangxi Province, China. Three strains of the chicken infectious anemia virus (CIAV) were isolated from liver samples of diseased 20-week-old chickens. The complete genomes of these strains were sequenced, and experiments on specific pathogen-free (SPF) chicks revealed that the GX21121 strain exhibited high virulence. Histopathological examination of the deceased chickens showed liver cell necrosis, fibrous serous exudation, inflammatory cell infiltration, hemorrhage in liver tissues, and congestion in lung and renal tissues. Phylogenetic analysis of the genome revealed that the three strains had a close genetic relationship to the Heilongjiang wild-type strain (GenBank KY486144). The genetic evolution of their VP1 genes indicated that all three CIAV isolates belonged to genotype IIIc. In summary, this study demonstrated the genomic diversity of three CIAV strains in adult layer hens. The isolation and characterization of the GX21121 strain as a highly virulent isolate provide valuable information for further investigations into the etiology, molecular epidemiology, and viral evolution of CIAV.

RESUMEN

The emergence of Goose astrovirus (GoAstV) has led to the gout in geese. This study aimed to isolate and identify the GoAstV from diseased goslings in Sichuan Province, China, followed by performing whole genome phylogenetic analysis of the isolate. The GoAstV was successfully isolated by inoculating the diseased gosling liver and kidney homogenate into the 11-day-old goose embryo allantoic cavity for 3 passages, and the isolate was named as GoAstV-C2 strain. The virus particles were spherical, without capsule, and the size was about 28 nm under transmission electronic microscope. The complete genome length of GoAstV-C2 was 7.035 nt, and the whole genome sequence phylogenetic analysis revealed that it belongs to the GoAstV genotype II (GoAstV-II) subgenotype IIc. The isolated GoAstV-C2 strain was able to be stably passaged in the goose embryo and uric acid sedimentation was observed. The complete genome bioinformation of GoAstV-C2 determined the evolutionary characteristics of the GoAstV isolated from Sichuan, China. This finding lays a foundation for the development of preventive measures, effective vaccines, and therapeutic drugs.

RESUMEN

Escherichia coli is a major bacterial pathogen which causes diarrhea in the giant panda. This study investigated the biological characteristics of 100 E. coli strains isolated from fecal samples collected from 100 captive giant pandas of different age groups and sexes. A standard Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion antimicrobial susceptibility test was performed with the isolates and we then further evaluated the antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) by high-throughput quantitative PCR. Additionally, we then analyzed O serogroups through a slide agglutination test, virulence genes and the multi-locus sequence typing (MLST) by PCR. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing demonstrated that the 100 E. coli strains were mainly resistant to ENR (68%), AM (56%), IPM (55%), AMX (54%) and CA (52%), but were susceptible to MEM and FOX. The resistance to TZP, AK, FEP, CAZ, AMS, AZM, AT and IPM was significantly related to age (p < 0.05); the resistance rate of E. coli isolated from female giant pandas to N was significantly higher than in males (p < 0.05). Forty-five different types of ARGs were found, which included a total of 2,258 ARGs, in the 100 E. coli isolates. The top 10 of detection rate of ARGs were: acrA-04, acrA-05, aacC, blaCTX-M-04, ampC-04, blaSHV-01, blaTEM, sul2, blaOXY, tetA-02. ARGs aac (6')I1, blaCTX-M-03, tetD-02, blaSHV-02 and blaOXY were significantly related to age (p < 0.05), blaSHV-02, blaNDM and ampC-04 were related to sex (p < 0.05). Twelve different O serogroups from 32 E. coli isolates were distinguished, including O4, O8, O9, O15, O18, O20, O55, O88, O112, O157, O158, and O167. The most prevalent O serotype was O20, but O28, O45, O101, O149, and O152 were not detected. Fourteen different types of virulence genes were detected in the 100 E. coli isolates, of which papA (99%) were highly detected, while hlyA, elt and estA were not detected. MLST showed that 41 STs, which had one CCs and six groups with SLVs, in the 100 E. coli strains were identified, the main type was ST37. Our results advocate the need of strict biosecurity and surveillance programs in order to prevent the spread of pathogenic bacteria in the captive giant panda population.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: Contagious ecthyma is a severe and highly contagious disease caused by an orf virus (ORFV). The virus is responsible for substantial economic losses in the goat industry and threatens humans. We previously determined the role of ORFV129 protein, one of the five ankyrin-repeat proteins coded by the orf genome, in suppressing the transcription of pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-6, IL-1ß and IFN-γ. In the present study, we identified 14 cellular proteins (complement C1q binding protein [C1QBP], MCM7, EIF5A, PKM, SLC6A, TSPAN6, ATP6AP2, GPS1, MMADHC, HSPB6, SLC35B1, MTF1, P3H4, and IL15RA) that interact with ORFV129 using a yeast two-hybrid system in goat turbinate bone cells (GFTCs). The interaction between ORFV129 and (C1QBP), an immune-related protein, was confirmed using immunofluorescence co-localization and co-immunoprecipitation assays. C1QBP overexpression inhibited ORFV replication, whereas the knockdown of C1QBP promoted ORFV replication in GFTCs. Furthermore, ORFV or ORFV129 increased C1QBP expression in GFTCs, indicated that ORFV129-C1QBP interaction might contribute to the ORFV-induced host immune process. In addition, our research showed that ORFV increased the expression of ORFV129, cytokine IL-6, IL-1ß and IFN-γ. C1QBP overexpression induced IFN-γ production and reduced IL-6 and IL-1ß production. Conversely, C1QBP knockdown induced IL-1ß production and reduced IFN-γ and IL-1ß production. Moreover, augmentation of ORFV129 expression enhanced the inhibition of the secretion of cytokines IL-6, IL-1ß, and IFN-γ induced by the altered expression of C1QBP. These findings suggest different downstream pathways might be involved in regulating different cytokines induced by ORFV129 expression in GFTCs.

RESUMEN

The miR-17∼92 family microRNAs (miRNAs) play a key role in germinal center (GC) reaction through promoting T follicular helper (TFH) cell differentiation. It remains unclear whether they also have intrinsic functions in B cell differentiation and function. Here we show that mice with B cell-specific deletion of the miR-17∼92 family exhibit impaired GC reaction, plasma cell differentiation, and antibody production in response to protein antigen immunization and chronic viral infection. Employing CRISPR-mediated functional screening, we identify Socs3 as a key functional target of miR-17∼92 in regulating plasma cell differentiation. Mechanistically, SOCS3, whose expression is elevated in miR-17∼92 family-deficient B cells, interacts with NIK and promotes its ubiquitination and degradation, thereby impairing NF-κB signaling and plasma cell differentiation. This moderate increase in SOCS3 expression has little effect on IL-21-STAT3 signaling. Our study demonstrates differential sensitivity of two key signaling pathways to alterations in the protein level of an miRNA target gene.

RESUMEN

Duck hepatitis A virus genotype C (DHAV-C), recognized recently, is one of the pathogens causing fatal duck viral hepatitis in ducklings, especially in Asia. To demonstrate the pathogenesis of the DHAV-C isolate, 3-day-old specific pathogen free ducklings were inoculated subcutaneously with a DHAV-C isolate and the clinical signs were observed. Virus distribution, histological and apoptotic morphological changes of various tissues were examined at different times post inoculation. The serial, characteristic changes included haemorrhage and swelling of the liver. Apoptotic cells and virus antigen staining were found in all of the tissues examined. Where more virus antigen staining was detected, there were more severe histopathological and apoptotic changes. The amount of virus antigen and the histological and apoptotic morphological changes agreed with each other and became increasingly severe with length of time after infection. Apoptotic cells were ubiquitously distributed, especially among lymphocytes, macrophages and monocytes in immune organs such as the bursa of Fabricius, thymus and spleen, and in liver, kidney and cerebral cells. Necrosis was also observed within 72 h post inoculation in all organs examined, except the cerebrum, and was characterized by cell swelling and collapsed plasma membrane. These results suggest that the recent outbreak of disease caused by DHAV-C virus is pantropic, causing apoptosis and necrosis of different organs. The apoptosis and necrosis caused by the DHAV-C field strain in this study is associated with pathogenesis and DHAV-C-induced lesions.

RESUMEN

Purpose: Lung cancer is a relatively common type of cancer, and the incidence rate has been on the rise in recent years. MicroRNAs are a class of endogenous small RNA molecules, which are essential for the posttranscriptional regulation of genes. miR-29b is closely related to the occurrence and development of tumors, including prostate cancer, colon cancer, and breast cancer. However, few studies have been performed to explore the expression and pathway of miR-29b in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Methods: Using bioinformatics analysis, we found that patients with low relative expression of the miR-29b gene have a low long-term survival rate. The results of in vitro research showed that when miR-29b expression was upregulated, the invasion, migration, and proliferation of A549 and NCI-H-1792 cells was inhibited, and the apoptosis was accelerated. Results: The results showed that FEM1B is a miR-29b target gene, and the expressions of FEM1B and miR-29b were negatively correlated. Like the upregulation of miR-29b expression, silencing the FEM1B expression could also impair the invasion, migration, and proliferation abilities of A549 and NCI-H-1792 cells. When FEM1B expression was restored, the inhibitory effect of miR-29b could be reversed. Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and western blot (WB) analysis showed that overexpression of miR-29b could inhibit the expression of FEM1B, AKT, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), and Sirt3 in A549 and NCI-H-1792 cells and upregulate the expression of FOXO1 protein. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that miR-29b inhibits the proliferation and deterioration of NSCLC cells by targeting FEM1B and inhibiting the activation of the FOXO1/AKT pathway. miR-29b may become a new target for the clinical diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer, and it is expected to become a new inhibitor of NSCLC.

RESUMEN

Lilium concolor Salisb. is a perennial herb with high ornamental and medicinal value in China. The complete chloroplast genome sequence of L. concolor was assembled using high-throughput sequencing data. The chloroplast genome of L. concolor is 152,625 bp in length and consists of large single-copy (82,056 bp) and small single-copy (17,585 bp) regions, and a pair of inverted repeat (26,492 bp) regions. A total of 131 genes were annotated, these included 85 protein-coding, 38 tRNA, and eight rRNA genes, with an overall GC content of 37.0%. Phylogenetic analysis with 48 chloroplast genomes fully resolved L. concolor in a clade with L. amabile, L. callosum, and L. pumilum. This study further confirmed that chloroplast genomes in the genus Lilium are highly conserved, which supports the conclusions from previous reports.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: The family environment is essential for elementary school children's development. With smartphone penetration into all aspects of people's lives, how parenting affects children's behavior may show new patterns. OBJECTIVE: This study constructed a mediated moderation model, focusing on the mediating role of child self-control and parental phubbing to clarify the relationship between helicopter parenting (over-parenting) and child procrastination and its mechanisms. METHODS: The Smartphone Addiction Scale for Chinese Adults, Brief Self-Control Scale, Over-Parenting Questionnaire, and Short General Procrastination Scale were employed to investigate 562 elementary school-age children and their parents. RESULTS: After data analysis, this study showed the following: (1) helicopter parenting was significantly and positively related to child self-control, child procrastination, and parental smartphone use; (2) child self-control partially mediated the relationship between helicopter parenting and child procrastination; and (3) pathways between helicopter parenting and child self-control were moderated by mother-phubbing behavior. CONCLUSION: These findings inform parents of their roles in family education.
