Uso de mídias sociais: um caso de urgência e emergência para profissionais da saúde / Use of social media: a case of urgency and emergency for health professionals
The use of technology in the health sector brings to the surface moral conflicts that were not previously experienced. The bioethics of emergent situations initially analyzed the conflicts related to medical technology such as the cases of assisted fertilization and organ donation. However, the use of non-medical technologies has more and more presence in the life of the professionals of the area. This is the case of the use of social networks. Situations in which health professionals publicly disclose information about their patients have become more frequent and professional councils have the role of supervising the ethical behavior. This article sought to carry out an ethical and legal reflection on this context, emphasizing it as an emerging problem requiring urgent intervention, since it presents real and / or potential risks to patients, society and health professions. Ethical and legal precepts contraindicate the dissemination of patient information in social networks, however, specific situations should be analyzed in contrast to technological advances and their potential benefits to patients. Health professionals must act prudently in relation to the novelties that technology offers.
