La Bioética llega al Ecuador con un retardo de dos décadas en relación a su inicio en USA con Potter en 1971. En la primera etapa destacan los aportes de Eduardo Estrella, Dimitri Barreto, Edmundo Estevez y Oswaldo Chávez. Este último en el 2003, convocó a profesionales humanistas y, junto con ellos, fundó la SEB, de la cual fue su primer presidente. Al presente hay grupos de estudio en la PUCE, Academia de Medicina y Universidad San Francisco. El CONASA (Consejo Nacional de Salud) ha publicado la Política Nacional de Bioética. Existen CHB en algunos hospitales y CEIs en dos universidades. La Sociedad Ecuatoriana de Bioética ha consolidado su presencia nacional este año, en el que cumplió su primera década de existencia y labores. El futuro se presenta con buenas perspectivas y está ligado al funcionamiento de la Comisión Nacional de Bioética en Salud, como órgano asesor del MSP.(AU)
Bioethics arrived in Ecuador with a delay of twenty years with respect to its beginning in the USA with Potter in 1971. In the first phase we find the works of Eduardo Estrella, Dimitri Barreto, Edmundo Estévez y Oswaldo Chávez. The latter in the year 2003 called on humanistic professionals and along with them founded SEB (Ecuadorean Society of Bioethics), of which he became the first president. Currently there are groups of study in the Catholic University (PUCE), Academy of Medicine and UniversitySan Francisco. CONASA (National Council of Health) has published the National Policy of Bioethics. There are commitees of bioethics (CHB) in some hospitals and committees for research (CEIs) in two universities. The Ecuadorean Society of Bioethics (SEB) has consolidated its national presence during this year, in which it celebrated its first ten years of life and work. The future offers good perspectives and is related to the functioning of the National Commission of Bioethics on Health, as a counselor of the Nationals Health Ministry (MSP).(AU)
