Respeto a la autonomía de mujeres gestantes en salud: diálogo bioética-género / Respect for the autonomy of pregnant women in health attention: a bioethics-gender dialogue / Respeito à autonomia das mulheres grávidas em saúde: diálogo bioética-gênero
From the bioethics-gender dialogue, a qualitative research was performed; the purpose is to relate meanings that health professionals (dentists, doctors, nurses) and pregnant women had about the body and the exercise of the autonomy. Nine focus groups (GF) were established and 19 semi-structured interviews performed 9 pregnant women (MG) and 10 health professionals (PS) that provided care at Suba, Engativa and Usaquén hospitals, as part of the Northern network of the Secretaria Distrital de Salud de Bogota, between 2010 and 2012. The analysis was performed through a parallel perspective and showed encounters and disagreements between two different worlds; the MG world and the PS world around the pregnancy, the body, the mouth and autonomy exercise significance during the health service. The findings revealed that the respect for the GP autonomy throughout the health care is mediated by the meanings of the body and female autonomy that both the women and the PS have while providing the service.
