OBJECTIVE: To investigate the clinical efficacy of body-surface guide plates for lateral segmental positioning in the thoracolumbar spine. METHODS: From March 2018 to March 2021, 768 gerontal patientss underwent percutaneous vertebroplasty with balloon dilatation due to thoracolumbar compression fracturess, 356 males and 412 females. aged from 64 to 92 years old with an average of (77.9±13.5) years old. All patients were treated in hospital within 1 week after injury. All patients underwent preoperative localization, and were divided into localization plate group and locator group according to different localization methods. There were 390 patients in the localization plate group, 180 males and 210 females, aged from 64 to 92 years old, with an average age of (78.4±14.3) years old. There were 378 patients in the locator group, 176 males and 202 females, aged from 64 to 90 years old, with an average age of (77.5±13.4) years old. After preliminary positioning with the above two methods, skin markers were made, cloth was routinely disinfected, and the spinal lateral position was fluoroscopically examined after the fine needle was inserted into the marked point and the vertical body at the near tail end. The accuracy of the original positioning method was evaluated. The number of times, time and accuracy of positioning of the two groups of patients were compared and analyzed. RESULTS: The specific data of patient positioning in the two groups were collected for statistical analysis. The number of times of fluoroscopy in the positioning plate group and the locator group was(3.3±0.5) times and (5.0±1.2) times, and the positioning time was (60.4±9.4) s and (105.0±30.9) s, respectively. The accuracy of fluoroscopy was 97.5% (380/390) and 85.7% (324/378), respectively, with statistical significance (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: The lateral segmental positioning plate of the body surface spine has the advantages of simple operation, accurate positioning, and reducing X-ray radiation for patients, which is worthy of clinical application.

BACKGROUND: Due to the lack of corresponding clinical symptoms, small calcified gastric gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) are often overlooked in clinical practice. Therefore, there is an unmet need to define the imaging features of calcified micro-gastric GISTs to facilitate diagnosis. This study retrospectively analyzed the computed tomography (CT) features of pathologically confirmed calcified micro-gastric GISTs. METHODS: The medical records (gastroscopy, pre-treatment gastric CT imaging [pre- and post-contrast scans], pathology) of patients with calcified gastric GISTs < 1 cm in diameter confirmed pathologically after endoscopic submucosal dissection, endoscopic submucosal excavation, or endoscopic full-thickness resection were retrospectively reviewed. RESULTS: Seven patients had 8 calcified gastric GISTs < 1 cm in diameter. Six patients hadsingle lesions, and 1patients had multiple lesions. Six patients had lesions in the gastric fundus, 1 patient had a lesion in the body of the stomach. Lesions had a mean diameter of 5.2 mm (range, 1.3 mm ~ 7 mm). Unenhanced CT scans showed spots and high-density nodular calcifications in 3 submucosal lesions, 2 lesions in the muscularis propria, and 3 subserosal lesions that protruded outside the stomach. Among the 8 lesions, only two had solid soft tissue components surrounding the calcification, with one of these two showing post contrast enhancement of the solid soft tissue component. CONCLUSIONS: Novel CT features of gastric GISTs included: commonly found in the gastric antrum, small size (< 1 cm in diameter), calcification, few solid soft tissue components, and no abnormal enhancement in most cases.

BACKGROUND: Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have been used in liver transplantation and have certain effects in alleviating liver ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) and regulating immune rejection. However, some studies have indicated that the effects of MSCs are not very significant. Therefore, approaches that enable MSCs to exert significant and stable therapeutic effects are worth further study. AIM: To enhance the therapeutic potential of human menstrual blood-derived stromal cells (MenSCs) in the mouse liver ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) model via interferon-γ (IFN-γ) priming. METHODS: Apoptosis was analyzed by flow cytometry to evaluate the safety of IFN-γ priming, and indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO) levels were measured by quantitative real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction, western blotting, and ELISA to evaluate the efficacy of IFN-γ priming. In vivo, the liver I/R model was established in male C57/BL mice, hematoxylin and eosin and TUNEL staining was performed and serum liver enzyme levels were measured to assess the degree of liver injury, and regulatory T cell (Treg) numbers in spleens were determined by flow cytometry to assess immune tolerance potential. Metabolomics analysis was conducted to elucidate the potential mechanism underlying the regulatory effects of primed MenSCs. In vitro, we established a hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R) model and analyzed apoptosis by flow cytometry to investigate the mechanism through which primed MenSCs inhibit apoptosis. Transmission electron microscopy, western blotting, and immunofluorescence were used to analyze autophagy levels. RESULTS: IFN-γ-primed MenSCs secreted higher levels of IDO, attenuated liver injury, and increased Treg numbers in the mouse spleens to greater degrees than untreated MenSCs. Metabolomics and autophagy analyses proved that primed MenSCs more strongly induced autophagy in the mouse livers. In the H/R model, autophagy inhibitors increased the level of H/R-induced apoptosis, indicating that autophagy exerted protective effects. In addition, primed MenSCs decreased the level of H/R-induced apoptosis via IDO and autophagy. Further rescue experiments proved that IDO enhanced the protective autophagy by inhibiting the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathway and activating the AMPK pathway. CONCLUSION: IFN-γ-primed MenSCs exerted better therapeutic effects in the liver I/R model by secreting higher IDO levels. MenSCs and IDO activated the AMPK-mTOR-autophagy axis to reduce IRI, and IDO increased Treg numbers in the spleen and enhanced the MenSC-mediated induction of immune tolerance. Our study suggests that IFN-γ-primed MenSCs may be a novel and superior MSC product for liver transplantation in the future.

Although research into how spiders respond to cadmium (Cd)-induced toxicity is ongoing, little is known about the effects of Cd contamination on the exogenous microorganisms of spiders. The current study used 16 S rRNA gene sequencing to evaluate the richness and structure of external bacterial communities in the wolf spider Pardosa pseudoannulata under long- and short-term Cd stress. Our results showed that Proteobacteria and Acidibacter were the dominating bacterial phylum and genus. The alpha diversity analysis showed that the high background of Cd concentration (Cd) reduced bacterial alpha diversity, and short-term Cd (SCd) stress elevated bacterial richness and diversity. Hub bacterial genera, including Stenotrophobacter, Hymenobacter, Chitinophaga, and Bryobacter, were identified by co-occurrence network analysis and showed high connectance with other bacterial genera. Further investigation revealed 15 and 14 bacterial taxa that were classified distinctively under SCd and Cd stresses. Interestingly, functional prediction analysis showed that Cd stress enhanced some crucial pathways involved in specialized functions, including manganese oxidation and aromatic compound degradation. Random forest and correlation analyses found that the spider's molting time was the dominant driver affecting bacterial phyla (i.e., Proteobacteria and Planctomycetes) and genera (e.g., Acidibacter, Reyranella, and Haliangium). Collectively, this comprehensive analysis creates new perspectives to investigate the divergent responses of microbial communities in the spiders' external habitat under Cd stress, and provides valuable viewpoints for Cd pollution evaluation and control.

Clinical observation indicates that exercise capacity, an important determinant of survival in patients with congenital heart disease (CHD), is most decreased in children with reduced pulmonary blood flow (RPF). However, the underlying mechanism remains unclear. Here, we obtained human RPF lung samples from children with tetralogy of Fallot as well as piglet and rat RPF lung samples from animals with pulmonary artery banding surgery. We observed impaired alveolarization and vascularization, the main characteristics of pulmonary dysplasia, in the lungs of RPF infants, piglets, and rats. RPF caused smaller lungs, cyanosis, and body weight loss in neonatal rats and reduced the number of alveolar type 2 cells. RNA sequencing demonstrated that RPF induced the downregulation of metabolism and migration, a key biological process of late alveolar development, and the upregulation of immune response, which was confirmed by flow cytometry and cytokine detection. In addition, the immunosuppressant cyclosporine A rescued pulmonary dysplasia and increased the expression of the Wnt signaling pathway, which is the driver of postnatal lung development. We concluded that RPF results in pulmonary dysplasia, which may account for the reduced exercise capacity of patients with CHD with RPF. The underlying mechanism is associated with immune response activation, and immunosuppressants have a therapeutic effect in CHD-associated pulmonary dysplasia.

The investigation of the toxic effects of cadmium (Cd) on rice field invertebrates has attracted accumulating attention. Spider grants a novel insight into the impacts of Cd stress on invertebrates, but the effects of Cd-induced toxicity and molecular response mechanism of related metabolites in spider's egg sacs remain elusive. This investigation found that Cd stress distinctively decreased vitellogenin (Vg) content and hatched spiderlings numbers in the egg sac of Pardosa pseudoannulata. In addition, Cd stress exerted oxidative stress in the egg sac, manifested as the increase of superoxide dismutase and malondialdehyde levels. Further results showed that Cd exposure could affect egg sacs' energy metabolism, including protein and lipid contents. Metabolome analysis generated 73 up-regulated and 63 down-regulated differentially expressed metabolites (DEMs), mainly affecting phenylalanine metabolism, alpha-linolenic acid metabolism, pentose phosphate pathway, and biosynthesis of amino acids. Specifically, pathway analysis showed that Cd exposure down-regulated several key factors, including tyrosine, L-phenylalanine, O-phospho-L-serine, and L-cystathionine, and inhibited the metabolism of amino acids in the egg sacs. The subsequent correlation analysis found that three metabolite indicators, 9-Oxo-ODE, PG (17:0/18:2), and PE (17:0/20:5), were the dominant contributors to the egg sec's properties (i.e., Vg content and gained spiderlings). Collectively, this study hopes to provide valuable data for the protection of rice field spiders and offer novel perspectives for Cd pollution assessment and management.

Cadmium (Cd) is a kind of toxic heavy metal widely distributed in the environment, posing life-threatening challenges to organisms. The paddy field spider is a natural enemy of pests and an essential component of rice biodiversity. Nonetheless, the effects of Cd stress on the postembryonic development of spiders and its detailed mechanism remain to be investigated. In the present study, we found that Cd stress posed adverse impacts on the growth indicators (e.g., carapace length, development duration, and survival rate) and increased the levels of three antioxidants (i.e., superoxide dismutase, glutathione S-transferase, and glutathione peroxidase) in the spiderlings of Pirata subpiraticus. An in-depth transcriptome analysis was employed in the study, and the results displayed that differentially expressed genes (DEGs) involved in postembryonic morphogenesis, development involved in symbiotic interaction, postembryonic development, and growth were distinctively altered under Cd stress. Further enrichment analysis showed that Cd exposure could activate the apoptosis pathway in the spider via the up-regulation of several key factors, including caspase-10, α-tubulin, actin, etc. In addition, we demonstrated that the increased level of glutathione-related enzymes in spiderlings was caused by the activation of glutathione metabolic pathway. The altered hedgehog signaling pathway might affect cell proliferation, tissue patterning, and development of spiderlings. Further protein interaction network displayed that Cd stress could affect multiple biological processes in spiderlings, particularly cellular response to stimulus and system development. To sum up, this study can provide multi-level perspectives to understand the toxicity of Cd on the growth and development of spiders.

Nonsmall-cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) is one of the deadliest malignancies in the world. LncRNAs are confirmed to be involved in the progression of NSCLC. Meanwhile, lncRNA CRNDE is known to be upregulated in NSCLC; however, the mechanism by which CRNDE regulates the tumourigenesis of NSCLC remains unclear. To test the function of CRNDE in NSCLC, cell proliferation, invasion, and migration were investigated by colony formation and Transwell assays, respectively. qPCR and Western blotting were applied to test gene and protein levels. In addition, the relationship among CRNDE, miR-455-3p, and HDAC2 was explored by dual-luciferase and RIP assays. The data revealed that the expression of CRNDE was upregulated in NSCLC tissues, while miR-455-3p was downregulated. CRNDE knockdown inhibited the viability, migration and invasion of NSCLC cells or epidermal growth factor receptor gene (EGFR)-mutant NSCLC cells. Moreover, inhibition of miR-455-3p exhibited the opposite effect. CRNDE bound with miR-455-3p, and HDAC2 was found to be targeted by miR-455-3p. Meanwhile, miR-455-3p downregulation reversed the effect of CRNDE knockdown on NSCLC cell function. Furthermore, miR-455-3p notably inhibited the growth and invasion of NSCLC cells via downregulation of HDAC2. Knockdown of CRNDE attenuated NSCLC progression via modulation of the miR-455-3p/HDAC2 axis. Thus, those findings might provide a novel strategy against NSCLC.

Cadmium (Cd) pollution poses a serious threat to agricultural production and paddy field fauna. Crystalline proteins (e.g., Cry1Ab and Cry1Ac) are secreted by Bacillus thuringiensis, which can manage pests via a complicated toxic mechanism and have been widely used for pest control due to the commercialization of transgenic crops (e.g., cotton and rice) that expresses Bt insecticidal proteins. Nonetheless, studies on the effects of combined stress of Cd and Cry1Ab protein on field indicator species are limited. In the present study, we showed that spiders, Pirata subpiraticus, fed with Cd-containing flies+Cry1Ab had dramatically higher Cd accumulation than that in the spiders fed with Cd-containing flies (p < 0.05). In addition, the enrichment of Cd led to the activation of the protective mechanism by elevating the concentrations of glutathione peroxidase, glutathione S-transferase, and metallothionein in the spiders (p < 0.05). An in-depth transcriptome analysis revealed that the activities of ion metal binding proteins, transporters, and channels might play essential roles in the Cd accumulation process. More importantly, the higher Cd concentration in the combined Cd+Cry1Ab exposure prolonged developmental duration of P. subpiraticus, due to the down-regulated cuticle proteins (CPs) encoding genes involved in the molting process, which was regulated by a series of putative transcriptional factors such as ZBTB and zf-C2H2. Collectively, this integrated analysis illustrates that the combined Cd+Cry1Ab exposure increases the adverse effects of Cd stress on the growth, antioxidase, and CPs encoding genes of P. subpiraticus, thus providing a research basis and prospect for the rationality of transgenic Cry1Ab crops in the cultivation of heavy metal contaminated soil.

The accumulating evidence revealed that gut microbiota plays an important role in pathological process of disease including obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus, heart failure, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Polysaccharides extracted from Chinese medicine (CM) can not only alleviate pathological status but also promote health by anti-inflammatory, regulating immunity, lowering blood glucose and lipids, anti-cancer, and anti-oxidation. The alterations of gut microbiota composition and metabolism pathways are the potential mechanisms of CM polysaccharides treatment. In addition, they exert functions through gut-organ axis or play an indirect role by synergistic actions with other drugs or components mediated by gut microbiota. This review summarizes the molecular mechanisms of CM polysaccharides interacted with intestinal microbial inhabitants as potential prebiotics for promoting health.

The single nucleotide polymorphisms of COX-2 gene, also known as PTGS2, which encodes a pro-inflammatory factor cyclooxygenase-2, alter the risk of developing multiple tumors, but these findings are not consistent for lung cancer. We previously reported that the homozygous COX-2 -1195A genotype is associated with an increased risk for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in Japanese individuals. COPD is a significant risk factor for lung cancer due to genetic susceptibility to cigarette smoke. In this study, we investigated the association between COX-2 -1195G/A polymorphism and lung cancer susceptibility in the Japanese population. We evaluated the genotype distribution of COX-2 -1195G/A using a polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism assay for 330 newly diagnosed patients with lung cancer and 162 healthy controls. Our results show that no relationship exists between the COX-2 -1195G/A polymorphism and the risk of developing lung cancer. However, compared to the control group, the homozygous COX-2 -1195A genotype increased the risk for lung squamous cell carcinoma (odds ratio = 2.902; 95% confidence interval, 1.171-7.195; p = 0.021), whereas no association is observed with the risk for adenocarcinoma. In addition, Kaplan-Meier analysis shows that the genotype distribution of homozygous COX-2 -1195A does not correlate with the overall survival of patients with lung squamous cell carcinoma. Thus, we conclude that the homozygous COX-2 -1195A genotype confers an increased risk for lung squamous cell carcinoma in Japanese individuals and could be used as a predictive factor for early detection of lung squamous cell carcinoma.

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the clinical features, imaging characteristics, treatment options and prognosis of prostatic abscess (PA), and provide some new ideas for the diagnosis and treatment of the disease. METHODS: This retrospective study included 11 cases of confirmed PA treated in the Fifth Medical Center of PLA General Hospital. We analyzed the clinical data obtained from the electronic medical records, including basic demographic statistics, risk factors, clinical symptoms, laboratory results, imaging findings, treatment methods, treatment-related complications and outcomes. RESULTS: The 11 patients diagnosed with PA between May 2016 and August 2022 were aged (64.18 ± 7.19) years and all had at least 1 comorbidity, including 5 cases of diabetes mellitus (45.5%) and 8 cases of dysuria (72.8%). PA was confirmed in 3 cases by CT and in 8 cases by MRI, 6 (54.5%) multifocal and 10 (90.9%) >2 cm in diameter, with a median size of 3.84 cm. After admission, positive urine culture was found in 3 cases, positive blood culture in 1, Klebsiella pneumoniae in 2 and Enterococcus Faecalis in 1. Three of the patients were treated by intravenous administration of antibiotics alone, and the other 8 by transurethral PA unroofing in addition. Antibiotics medication lasted for a median of (12.9 ± 3.88) d and hospital stay averaged (19.18 ± 8.20) d. The patients were followed up for 3 months, which revealed the presence of PA in 2 of the cases treated with antibiotics alone, but not in any of the cases treated by surgery. CONCLUSION: PA is relatively rare and has no specific symptoms clinically. Imaging examination is very important for accurate diagnosis, and transurethral PA unroofing plus antibiotics administration could be considered as an optimal management of the disease.

BACKGROUND: Cardiac angiosarcoma is a rare but highly malignant cardiac tumor. It is characterized by poor prognosis, and current treatment approaches are not effective. CASE PRESENTATION: A 37-year-old female with 35 weeks pregnancy experienced chest tightness and shortness of breath for 1 month. She was diagnosed with primary cardiac angiosarcoma. Delivery of fetus was performed early to treat the mother. The patient underwent resection of the tumor then she was treated with chemotherapy. However, the tumor recurred 11 months after surgery. CONCLUSION: Angiosarcoma is a highly malignant tumor explaining recurrence of the tumor recurred after surgery. Cardiac angiosarcoma should be treated through a comprehensive treatment plan, comprising surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy approaches.

OBJECTIVE: To develop a universal screwdriver for sealing the end of the central hole of the femoral interlocking intramedullary nail, so as to shorten the operation time of the tail cap implantation of the intramedullary nail and improve the accuracy of implantation. METHODS: Total 77 patients with intertrochanteric fractures underwent femoral interlocking intramedullary nail (FIIN) surgery from June 2018 to June 2019. There were 28 males and 49 females, aged 55 to 80 (76.22± 7.32) years old, and course of disease was 20 to 40 h. All patients were divided into universal screwdriver group (39 cases) and ordinary screwdriver group (38 cases) according to whether the self-developed universal screw was applicable during the operation. The blood loss during tail cap implantation, the time of tail cap implantation, the success rate of one-time implantation, and the postoperative curative effect were compared between two groups. RESULTS: All patients were followed up for 12 to 36 months, with an average of(20.00±6.38) months. The bleeding volume and the time of tail cap implantation in the universal screwdriver group were significantly lower thanthose in the ordinary screwdriver group (P<0.05);The one-time success rate (100%) of the universal screwdriver group was significantly higher than that of the ordinary screwdriver group (75.4%)(P< 0.05);at the last follow-up, the efficacy scores of two groups were improved compared with preoperatively, but the efficacy scores of the universal screwdriver group were significantly better than those of the ordinary screwdriver group(P<0.05). CONCLUSION: The universal screwdriver is easy to operate during the operation when using the cap of the femoral intramedullary nail, the operation time is shortened, the amount of bleeding is reduced, and the treatment effect is satisfactory.

Cadmium (Cd) is a widely distributed heavy metal in south of China. Growing evidence indicates that systemic exposure to Cd, particularly the long-term exposure, may cause neurotoxic effects. Nevertheless, mechanisms underlying Cd neurotoxicity remain not completely understood. In this report, we investigated the neural alterations in the spider Pardosa pseudoannulata (Bösenberg and Strand, 1906) exposed to long-term Cd (LCd) and short-term Cd (SCd) pressure. Cd stress lowered foraging ability and prey consuming time in the spiders. In addition, enzymatic analysis results indicated that Cd exposure reduced the level of acetylcholinesterase at subcellular level. We then identified differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in the Cd exposed spiders using pairwise comparisons and found that a large number of DEGs were related to neurotransmitter receptors and ion transport and binding proteins. Notably, LCd exposure harbored more altered genes in ion transporter activity comparing with SCd exposure. From six K-means clusters, 53 putative transcriptional factors (TFs) belonging to 21 families were characterized, and ZBTB subfamily displayed the most distinctive alterations in the characterized genes, which is assumed to play a key role in the regulation of ion transmembrane process under Cd stress. A protein-to-protein interaction network constructed by the yielded DEGs also showed that ion and receptor binding activities were affected under long-term Cd exposure. Four key modules from the network indicated that Cd may further down-regulate energy metabolism pathway in spiders. Collectively, this comprehensive analysis provides multi-dimensional insights to understand the molecular response of spiders to Cd exposure.

Mesenchymal stem cells can be replaced by exosomes for the treatment of inflammatory diseases, injury repair, degenerative diseases, and tumors. Exosomes are small vesicles rich in a variety of nucleic acids [including messenger RNA, Long non-coding RNA, microRNA (miRNA), and circular RNA], proteins, and lipids. Exosomes can be secreted by most cells in the human body and are known to play a key role in the communication of information and material transport between cells. Like exosomes, miRNAs were neglected before their role in various activities of organisms was discovered. Several studies have confirmed that miRNAs play a vital role within exosomes. This review focuses on the specific role of miRNAs in MSC-derived exosomes (MSC-exosomes) and the methods commonly used by researchers to study miRNAs in exosomes. Taken together, miRNAs from MSC-exosomes display immense potential and practical value, both in basic medicine and future clinical applications, in treating several diseases.

Insulinoma is the most common functional neuroendocrine tumor that originates from the islet of beta cells. Insulinoma is usually an isolated benign tumor and small in size (<2 cm). Due to the small size of the lesion, it often leads to difficulty in clinical preoperative localization diagnosis. However, we have unexpectedly discovered that the diffusion-weighted-imaging (DWI) adds great value in the preoperative localization diagnosis of insulinoma in non-invasive examination technique.We verified using operative pathology data and retrospectively analyzed the clinical and imageology findings of 5 cases who reported to have an insulinoma. All the 5 cases underwent DWI examination, among non-contrast enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in 1 case, contrast-enhanced MRI in 4 cases.Five cases of DWI showed a nodular high signal <1.3 cm with pancreatic tail in 3 cases, pancreatic neck, and pancreatic head in 1 case each, respectively. Non-contrast enhanced MRI showed suspicious abnormal signals in the tail of the pancreas were detected in 1 case. MRI enhanced scans presented 2 cases with abnormal enhancement in the arterial phase and 2 cases without abnormal enhancement in arterial phase. Also, 3 cases showed mild persistence enhanced in the portal venous phase and delayed phase. However, 1 case remained normal in the portal venous phase and the delay period.DWI examination has high clinical value in the localization diagnosis of insulinoma and thus it can be used as a routine examination for preoperative localization diagnosis.

Phthalate acid esters (PAEs) are one of the essential plastic additives which may lead to plenty of harmful effects, including reproductive toxicity, teratogenicity, and carcinogenicity. Increasing attention has been paid to the migration of plasticizer. In this article, the disposable plastic lunch boxes were taken as the research object. The result showed that dibutyl phthalate (DBP) and diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP) have been mainly found, whose content was 1.5 mg/kg and 2.4 mg/kg, respectively. The LOD was 2 ng/g, and LOQ was 6.7 ng/g. We further investigated the migration of PAEs into the simulated liquid at different temperature conditions. Then, the linear fitting performing by first-order kinetic migration model revealed that the lower the polarity of the simulated liquid, the larger the rate constant K 1 and initial release rate V 0. The higher the temperature, the bigger the K 1 and V 0.

OBJECTIVE: This study aims to evaluate the execution of robot-assisted laparoscopic nephroureterectomy without repositioning the patient. METHODS: The clinical data of 9 patients who underwent robot-assisted laparoscopic nephroureterectomy between May 2017 and November 2018 were analyzed, proceeding in a single position, without repositioning the patient. This involved 5 men and 4 women, with an average age of 61.67 ± 10.37 years and an average body mass index (BMI) of 24.78 ± 3.84. We considered the duration of the intervention, the blood loss, the duration of the hospital stay, the duration of maintenance of the drainage and the follow-up on all patients, with or without complications and recurrence of the tumor. RESULTS: The intervention was completed in all 9 cases. The average duration of the intervention was 242.89 ± 13.37 minutes, the average blood loss was 166.67 ± 70.71 ml, the average hospitalization time was 2 ± 0.71 days, the average time drainage maintenance was 5.11 ± 1.05 days and the average follow-up times without complications and tumor recurrence were 12.56 ± 6.19 months. CONCLUSION: Robot-assisted laparoscopic nephroureterectomy without repositioning the patient during the procedure simplifies the procedure and shortens the duration of the procedure. It is also a safe, effective and feasible minimally invasive treatment method.
