RESUMEN

Objective: To conduct a meta-analysis on the influencing factors of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) in the Chinese elderly. Methods: The literature related to the influencing factors of MCI in Chinese elderly population was retrieved through CNKI, Wanfang, VIP, PubMed, Embase and Web of Science databases up to March 13, 2022. Stata17.0 software was used to calculate the combined risk ratio (RR) with the 95% confidence interval (CI), test the heterogeneity, and assess the publication bias. Results: A total of 2 450 articles were retrieved, and 49 articles met the inclusion criteria, including 5 cohort studies and 44 case-control studies. Meta-analysis results showed that male (RR=0.778, 95%CI: 0.696-0.870, I2=73.1), education>6years (RR=0.428, 95%CI: 0.374-0.490, I2=86.9) and regular exercise (RR=0.496, 95%CI: 0.421-0.585, I2=81.5) were protective factors for MCI, while age≥70 years (RR=2.431, 95%CI: 2.086-2.833, I2=79.3), family history of dementia (RR=3.228, 95%CI: 2.140-4.867, I2=0.0), smoking (RR=1.214, 95%CI: 1.098-1.342, I2=78.8), alcohol consumption (RR=1.165, 95%CI: 1.047-1.297, I2=68.2), solitary living (RR=2.816, 95%CI: 2.123-3.736, I2=42.0), insomnia (RR=1.402, 95%CI: 1.093-1.799, I2=41.3), overweight/obesity (RR=1.431, 95%CI: 1.207-1.696, I2=75.9), hypertension (RR=1.731, 95%CI: 1.589-1.886, I2=67.1), hyperlipidemia (RR=1.722, 95%CI: 1.541-1.924, I2=63.9), diabetes mellitus (RR=1.495, 95%CI: 1.341-1.666, I2=71.6), cardiovascular diseases (RR=1.671, 95%CI: 1.446-1.932, I2=74.6) and cerebrovascular diseases (RR=2.309, 95%CI: 2.040-2.613, I2=76.3) were risk factors of MCI. Conclusion: The present study indicates that male, junior high school education or above and regular exercise are protective factors of MCI, while age≥70 years, family history of dementia, smoking, alcohol consumption, living alone, insomnia, overweight/obesity, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and cerebrovascular diseases are risk factors of MCI.

RESUMEN

Objective: To introduce a new self-developed irrigation device(SID) that does not employ a sheath or an irrigation-suction system and evaluate to its efficiency in transcanal endoscopic ear surgery (TEES) for attic cholesteatoma. Methods: 38 patients who were subjected to TEES for attic cholesteatoma between October 2019 to June 2021 were included in this study, including 17 males and 21 females with an average age of (38.6±11.9) years. SID and underwater continuous drilling were used during operation. Width of endoscope and irrigation speed were measured when SID was applied. The operating time, surgical view and complications were compared between two groups. Results: The width of the endoscope was 3.5-4.6 mm in diameter and the irrigation speed was 20-40 ml/min when SID was used. SID cleaned the lens at the tip of the endoscope and created a clear field of view during TEES. The operation time was (86.6±18.1) min. The skin of the external ear canal was found injured during operation in 3 patients, but there were no complications such as necrosis of the flap, stenosis of external ear canal, sensorineural hearing loss, facial paralysis and cerebrospinal fluid leakage. Conclusions: SID is simple and enhances the efficacy of TEES, providing a new irrigation choice in TEES for attic cholesteatoma.

RESUMEN

Objective: To characterize the histopathological subtypes and their clinicopathological parameters of gender and onset age by common, rare and sparse primary esophageal malignant tumors (PEMT). Methods: A total of 272 437 patients with PEMT were enrolled in this study, and all of the patients were received radical surgery. The clinicopathological information of the patients was obtained from the database established by the State Key Laboratory of Esophageal Cancer Prevention & Treatment from September 1973 to December 2020, which included the clinical treatment, pathological diagnosis and follow-up information of esophagus and gastric cardia cancers. All patients were diagnosed and classified by the criteria of esophageal tumor histopathological diagnosis and classification (2019) of the World Health Organization (WHO). The esophageal tumors, which were not included in the WHO classification, were analyzed separately according to the postoperative pathological diagnosis. The χ2 test was performed by the SPSS 25.0 software on count data, and the test standard α=0.05. Results: A total of 32 histopathological types were identified in the enrolled PEMT patients, of which 10 subtypes were not included in the WHO classification. According to the frequency, PEMT were divided into common (esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, ESCC, accounting for 97.1%), rare (esophageal adenocarcinoma, EAC, accounting for 2.3%) and sparse (mainly esophageal small cell carcinoma, malignant melanoma, etc., accounting for 0.6%). All the common, rare, and sparse types occurred predominantly in male patients, and the gender difference of rare type was most significant (EAC, male∶ female, 2.67∶1), followed with common type (ESCC, male∶ female, 1.78∶1) and sparse type (male∶ female, 1.71∶1). The common type (ESCC) mainly occurred in the middle thoracic segment (65.2%), while the rare type (EAC) mainly occurred in the lower thoracic segment (56.8%). Among the sparse type, malignant melanoma and malignant fibrous histiocytoma were both predominantly located in the lower thoracic segment (51.7%, 66.7%), and the others were mainly in the middle thoracic segment. Conclusion: ESCC is the most common type among the 32 histopathological types of PEMT, followed by EAC as the rare type, and esophageal small cell carcinoma and malignant melanoma as the major sparse type, and all of which are mainly occur in male patients. The common type of ESCC mainly occur in the middle thoracic segment, while the rare type of EAC mainly in the lower thoracic segment. The mainly sparse type of malignant melanoma and malignant fibrous histiocytoma predominately occur in the lower thoracic segment, and the remaining sparse types mainly occur in the middle thoracic segment.

RESUMEN

The present study investigated the individual and combined effects of xylo-oligosaccharides (XOS) and gamma-irradiated astragalus polysaccharides (IAPS) on the immune response, antioxidant capacity and intestinal microbiota composition of broiler chickens. A total of 240 newly hatched Ross 308 chicks were randomly allocated into 5 dietary treatments including the basal diet (control), or the basal diet supplemented with 50 mg/kg chlortetracycline (CTC), 100 mg/kg XOS (XOS), 600 mg/kg IAPS (IAPS), and 100 mg/kg XOS + 600 mg/kg IAPS (XOS + IAPS) respectively. The results showed that birds in the control group had lower the thymus index and serum lysozyme activity than those in the other 4 groups (P < 0.05). Moreover, there was an interaction between XOS and IAPS treatments on increasing the serum lysozyme activity (P < 0.05). Birds in the CTC and XOS + IAPS groups had lower serum malondialdehyde concentration and higher serum total antioxidant capacity activity and mucosal interleukin 2 mRNA expression of jejunum than those in the control group (P < 0.05). In addition, birds in the control groups had lower duodenal and jejunal IgA-producing cells number than these in other 4 groups (P < 0.05). As compared with the CTC group, dietary individual XOS or IAPS administration increased duodenal IgA-producing cells number (P < 0.05). Meanwhile, there was an interaction between XOS and IAPS treatments on increasing duodenal and jejunal IgA-Producing cells numbers (P < 0.05). Dietary CTC administration increased the proportion of Bacteroides, and decreased the proportion of Negativibacillus (P < 0.05). However, dietary XOS + IAPS administration increased Firmicutes to Bacteroidetes ratio, the proportion of Ruminococcaceae, as well as decreased the proportion of Barnesiella and Negativibacillus (P < 0.05). In conclusion, the XOS and IAPS combination could improve intestinal mucosal immunity and barrier function of broilers by enhancing cytokine gene expression, IgA-producing cell production and modulates cecal microbiota, and the combination effect of XOS and IAPS is better than that of individual effect of CTC, XOS, or IAPS in the current study.

RESUMEN

Objective: To describe the actual efficacy of programmed death-1 (PD-1)/ programmed-death ligand 1 (PD-L1) inhibitors in patients with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and explore potential prognostic predictive biomarkers. Methods: Patients with metastatic NSCLC who were treated with PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors at Cancer Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences from January 2016 to December 2019, either as monotherapy or in combination with other agents, were consecutively enrolled into this study. We retrospectively collected the data of demographics, clinical information and pathologic assessment to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy and conduct the survival analysis. Major endpoint of our study is progression-free survival (PFS). Secondary endpoints include objective response rate (ORR), disease control rate (DCR) and overall survival (OS). Results: The ORR of 174 patients who underwent PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitor was 28.7%, and the DCR was 79.3%. Immune-related adverse events (irAEs) occurred in 23 patients (13.2%). Brain metastasis, line of treatment, and treatment patterns were associated with the ORR of metastatic NSCLC patients who underwent immunotherapy (P<0.05). After a median follow-up duration of 18.8 months, the median PFS was 10.5 months (ranged from 1.5 to 40.8 months) while the median OS was not reached. The 2-year survival rate was estimated to be 63.0%. The pathologic type was related with the PFS of metastatic NSCLC patients who underwent immunotherapy (P=0.028). Sex, age, brain metastasis and autoimmune diseases were associated with OS (P<0.05). Analysis of the receptor characteristic curve (ROC) of neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR) predicting ORR of immunotherapy in metastatic NSCLC showed that the areas under the curve of NLR before immunotherapy (NLR(C0)), NLR after one cycle of immunotherapy (NLR(C1)) and ΔNLR were 0.600, 0.706 and 0.628, respectively. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that NLR(C1) was an independent factor of the ORR of metastatic NSCLC patients who underwent immunotherapy (OR=0.161, 95% CI: 0.062-0.422), and the efficacy of combination therapy was better than that of single agent (OR=0.395, 95% CI: 0.174-0.896). The immunotherapy efficacy in patients without brain metastasis was better than those with metastasis (OR=0.291, 95% CI: 0.095-0.887). Multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that NLR(C1) was an independent influencing factor of PFS of metastatic NSCLC patients after immunotherapy (HR=0.480, 95% CI: 0.303-0.759). Sex (HR=0.399, 95% CI: 0.161-0.991, P=0.048), age (HR=0.356, 95% CI: 0.170-0.745, P=0.006) were independent influencing factors of OS of metastatic NSCLC patients after immunotherapy. Conclusions: PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors are proved to be efficacious and have tolerable toxicities for patients with metastatic NSCLC. Patients at advanced age could still benefit from immunotherapy. Brain metastasis is related to compromised response. Earlier application of immunotherapy in combination with other modalities enhances the efficacy without elevating risk of irAEs. NLR(C1) is an early predictor of clinical outcome. The OS of patients younger than 75 years may be improved when treated with immunotherapy.

RESUMEN

The damage of sweat glands in patients with extensive deep burns results in the loss of thermoregulation, which seriously affects the quality of life of patients. At present, there are many researches on the repair of sweat gland function, but the mechanism of human sweat gland development has not been fully clarified. More and more studies have shown that the cascaded pathways of Wnt/ß-catenin, ecto- dysplasin A/ectodysplasin A receptor/nuclear factor-κB, sonic hedgehog, and forkhead box transcription factor jointly affect the development of sweat glands, and it has been reported that the cascaded signaling pathways can be used to achieve the reconstruction of sweat adenoid cells in vitro. This article reviews the signaling pathways that affect the development of sweat glands and their involvement in the reconstruction of sweat adenoid cells in vitro.

RESUMEN

Aortoiliac occlusive disease (AIOD) refers to the stenosis and occlusion of the distal abdominal aorta and(or) bifurcation of the aortoiliac artery, which is mainly caused by atherosclerosis, leading to pelvic and lower limb ischemia.Open surgery has always been the main treatment for complex AIOD.However,in recent years, with the development of endovascular surgery technologies and medical instruments, its treatment concept has been greatly changed.More and more clinical evidence has proved that the long-term efficacy of endovascular therapy is not inferior to that of traditional open surgery,so minimally invasive endovascular therapy has become the preferred treatment for AIOD.

RESUMEN

Objective: To evaluate the detection of MDR-TB and XDR-TB patients and to provide evidence for further improvement of MDR-TB and XDR-TB screening strategy. Methods: Patients who were under drug resistance surveillance, registered and reported by the TB Management Information System of the Chinese Disease Prevention and Control Information System from 2012 to 2019 and resided in Guizhou province were retrospectively analyzed. The contribution of five high-risk subgroups to detection of MDR/XDR-TB were evaluated using population attributable risk proportion (PARP). Results: Of the 18 506 cases under drug resistance surveillance, patients who were male, aged between 25 and 54 years, with drug-resistant TB or with MDR/XDR-TB accounted for 68.65% (12 705/18 506), 47.69% (8 826/18 506), 15.90% (2 943/18 506) or 5.42% (1 003/18 506), respectively. Five high-risk subgroups made significant contributions to the detection of MDR/XDR-TB with a PARP of 57.00%. Specifically, the PARP were 21.70%, 19.49%, 11.90% and 2.30% for patients that were relapse and return, failed initial treatment, chronic/retreatment failure and smear-positive at the end of the second or third month, respectively. The detection rate of MDR/XDR-TB in high-risk groups was 15.89% (578/3 637) while in low-risk groups was 2.86% (425/14 869). Conclusions: Number of patients under drug resistance surveillance and the detection of MDR/XDR-TB trended to increase in Guizhou province from 2012 to 2019. The detection rate of MDR/XDR-TB in high-risk groups was higher than low-risk groups.

RESUMEN

Objective: To examine the therapeutic effects of drug-coated balloon (DCB) and bare metal stent (BMS) on primary femoropopliteal disease (FPAD) in the real world. Methods: This was a retrospective analysis of single-center follow-up results at 12,24,and 36 months of patients with FPAD lesions that were treated with DCB and BMS at Department of Aortic and Vascular Surgery, Fu Wai Hospital.One-to-one propensity score matching(PSM) was performed to balance the covariance between DCB group (137 cases) and BMS group (100 cases). Freedom from clinically driven target lesion reintervention rate(fCD-TLR) was determined by Kaplan-Meier curve.Log-rank test was used to compare the rates of fCD-TLR between DCB and BMS groups at 12,24,36 months post-operation. Results: After PSM, there were both 71 patients in each group, aged (68.0±9.6) years(range: 46 to 90 years) and (68.8±7.3) years(range: 48 to 87 years),lesion lengths were (119.6±14.2)mm(range:40 to 380 mm) and (110.8±13.1)mm(range:40 to 400 mm). The median follow-up period were 24.3 months (range:5.8 to 55.1 months). There was no death, amputation or reintervention within the 30 days after operation. The rates of fCD-TLR for DCB group at 12,24 and 36 months were 97.2%,85.9%,69.1%, and 95.8%,83.1%,59.2% for BMS group. There was no statistical difference between the two groups by Log-rank test (P=0.551). Conclusion: DCB and BMS can both maintain favorable clinical effects in FPAD patients at 12,24,36 months post-operation.

RESUMEN

The caecum is the primary site where microbial fermentation and acidosis occurred. The supplementation of starter feed and alfalfa hay has the potential to influence caecal microbiota and then affect caecal fermentation. This study aims to investigate the effect of starter feed and alfalfa hay supplementation on caecal microbiota, immune homeostasis, and growth of preweaning yaks. Twenty 30-day-old male yak calves were randomly assigned to four groups, which separately fed with milk replacer (CON group), milk replacer with alfalfa hay (A group), milk replacer with starter feed (S group), and milk replacer with starter feed plus alfalfa hay (SA group) throughout the trial. Growth performance and plasma physiological and biochemical indicators were measured every 30 days. Calves were sacrificed at 120 days of age. The caecal contents were collected for measuring pH and contents of volatile fatty acids (VFAs) and lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and for characterizing caecal microbiota. The results indicated that individual or simultaneous supplementation with alfalfa hay and starter feed all significantly increased the BW, body height, body length, and chest girth of yak calves. However, supplementation with starter feed significantly increased plasma cortisol, nitric oxide, tumor necrosis factor-α, and interferon-γ concentrations and the ratio of aspartate aminotransferase to alanine aminotransferase of yak calves when compared with the control and alfalfa hay feeding groups, while the co-supplementation of starter feed and alfalfa hay could significantly decrease these inflammation-related indices when compared with the starter feeding group. Sequencing of the 16S rRNA gene showed that starter feed and alfalfa hay separately stimulated the proliferation of starch-decomposing and cellulose- or hemicellulose-decomposing bacteria. This also significantly increased the levels of acetate, propionate, butyrate, valerate, isobutyrate, and isovalerate in the caecal contents. Furthermore, compared with the S and CON groups, the significantly increased genera of Desulfobulbus, Olsenella, Pseudoflavonifractor, and Stomatobaculum in the SA and A groups were beneficial to the immune homeostasis, and the significantly decreased Blautia, Clostridium IV, Bacteroides, Eubacterium, Clostridium XVIII, and Mogibacterium in the SA and A groups were related to the reduced caecal lactate and LPS contents, the decreased inflammatory reaction, and the improved healthy hepatic condition of yak calves. In conclusion, milk replacer supplemented with alfalfa hay and starter feed is recommended during preweaning to improve yak calf health and growth because this regimen promotes the growth and maintains the immune homeostasis of yak calves.

RESUMEN

This study was designed to evaluate the effects of γ-irradiated Astragalus polysaccharides (IAPS) on growth performance, cecal microbiota populations, and concentrations of cecal short-chain fatty acids of immunosuppressed broilers. A total of 144 one-day-old broiler chicks were randomly assigned into 3 groups: nontreated group (control), cyclophosphamide (CPM)-treated groups fed either a basal diet or the diets containing 900 mg/kg IAPS, respectively. On day 16, 18, and 20, broilers in the control group were intramuscularly injected with 0.5 mL sterilized saline (0.75%, wt/vol), and those in the CPM and IAPS groups were intramuscularly injected with 0.5 mL CPM (40 mg/kg of BW). The trial lasted 21 d. Compared with the control group, CPM treatment decreased the broiler average daily gain (ADG) and feed intake (P < 0.05) but did not affect the overall microbial diversity and compositions, as well as the concentrations of cecal acetate, propionate, and butyrate in cecum of broilers (P > 0.05). Dietary IAPS supplementation increased broiler ADG, Shannon index, and decreased Simpson index (P < 0.05). Specifically, broilers fed diets containing IAPS showed lower abundances of Faecalibacterium, Bacteroides, and Butyricicoccus and higher proportions of Ruminococcaceae UCG-014, Negativibacillus, Shuttleworthia, Sellimonas, and Mollicutes RF39_norank, respectively (P < 0.05). The IAPS treatment also increased butyrate concentration (P < 0.05) and tended to elevate acetate concentration (P = 0.052) in cecal digesta. The results indicated that IAPS are effective in increasing the cecal beneficial bacteria and short-chain fatty acids production, contributing to improvement in the growth performance of immunosuppressive broilers. These findings may expand our knowledge about the function of modified Astragalus polysaccharides in broiler chickens.

RESUMEN

Objective: To verify the risk prediction efficacies of COMPASS-cancer associated thrombosis (COMPASS-CAT) risk assessment model and the new prediction probability model established based on COMPASS-CAT for venous thromboembolism (VTE) in hospitalized patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Methods: We retrospectively collected the clinical data of 373 patients with NSCLC admitted to National Clinical Research Center for Cancer/Cancer Hospital from March 2013 to June 2017. All of them were divided into VTE group (63 cases) and non-VTE group (310 cases) according to VTE occurred or not. According to the COMPASS-CAT risk assessment model, all patients were scored and classified by risk. Chi-square test was used to compare the clinical features between two groups, and multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to evaluate the independent risk factors of VTE in NSCLC patients. Based on the COMPASS-CAT risk assessment model, D-dimer≥1.03 mg/L and hemoglobin<10 g/dl were included to construct a new COMPASS-CAT prediction probability model, the ROC curve was also drawn. We used MedCalc software to compare the difference of ROC curves and analyze the application value of different risk assessment models in predicting VTE risk of NSCLC patients. Results: The incidence of VTE was 16.9% (63/373). The COMPASS-CAT score of VTE group was 6.37±3.40, which was higher than 2.74±2.04 of non-VTE group (P<0.001). Univariate analysis showed that the proportion of patients with KPS≤80, COMPASS-CAT≥7, D-dimer≥1.03 mg/L, central venous catheter (CVC), hemoglobin<10 g/L, cardiovascular complications≥2, hyperlipidemia, clinical stages Ⅲ and Ⅳ, KPS≤80 in VTE group was significantly higher than that in non-VTE group (P<0.05). Logistic regression analysis showed that D-dimer≥1.03 mg/L, compass-cat score≥7 and hemoglobin <10 g/dL were independent risk factors for VTE. Based on the COMPASS-CAT risk assessment model, a new risk assessment model of COMPASS-CAT was constructed by incorporating the variables of D-dimer ≥1.03 mg/L and hemoglobin <10 g/dl. The area under ROC curve (AUC) of COMPASS-CAT model and new COMPASS-CAT prediction probability model were 0.745 and 0.804, respectively. Compared with COMPASS-CAT model, AUC of new COMPASS-CAT prediction probability model increased by 0.059, with statistically significant difference(P=0.007). RESUMEN

Objective: To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of adult inpatients with gas burns in the Department of Burns of Hwa Mei Hospital of University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (hereinafter referred to as the author's unit) , so as to provide evidence for the prevention of gas burn. Methods: Medical records of all inpatients with flame burns admitted to the author's unit from January 2011 to December 2017 were collected. The percentage of adult inpatients with gas burns in total inpatients with flame burns in the same period, and their gender, age, injury season, accident place, burn severity, common compound injury, complication, population caliber, education, industry, as well as the pre-injury disease and prognosis of elderly inpatients with gas burns were retrospectively analyzed. In addition, the age, accident place, education, and industry of the floating population in the adult inpatients with gas burns were analyzed separately and compared with the total population of adult inpatients with gas burns in 7 years. Data were processed with chi-square test or Fisher's exact probability test (Monte Carlo algorithm). Results: During the 7 years, 1 490 inpatients with flame burns were admitted to the author's unit, among which 511 were adult inpatients with gas burns, accounting for 34.30%. The number of adult inpatients with gas burns increased gradually during the 7 years, but its percentage in the total inpatients with flame burns during the same period showed no significant difference (χ(2)=7.087, P>0.05). Among the 511 adult inpatients with gas burns (hereinafter referred to as the patients in this group), there were 315 males and 196 females, with a male/female ratio of 1.61 to 1.00, and the middle-aged patients were the most, up to 270 cases, accounting for 52.84%. The distribution of adult inpatients with gas burns during the 7 years was significantly different in gender and age (χ(2)=54.810, 27.832, P<0.01). Among the patients in this group, most were injured in summer, totally 251 cases, accounting for 49.12%, and the accident place was mainly at home, totally 388 cases, accounting for 75.93%. The distribution of adult inpatients with gas burns during the 7 years was significantly different in injury season (χ(2)=42.254, P<0.01), but not in accident place (χ(2)=6.782, P>0.05). The patients in this group were mainly with moderate burns (237 cases, accounting for 46.38%), and the distribution trend of burn severity of adult inpatients with gas burns was basically the same during the 7 years (χ(2)=19.680, P>0.05); 176 patients (34.44%) were accompanied by inhalation injury, and 30 patients (5.87%) were accompanied by blast injury of lung; post injury complications occurred in 20 patients (3.91%). In the elderly inpatients with gas burns, 44.44% (32/72) were accompanied by pre-injury basic diseases, and the proportion of death or unhealed reached 18.06% (13/72). Most of the patients in this group were permanent residents (358 cases, accounting for 70.06%) and received secondary education (304 cases, accounting for 59.49%), and the majority of them were engaged in manufacturing/construction (138 cases, accounting for 27.01%), self-employed business (90 cases, accounting for 17.61%), and catering (90 cases, accounting for 17.61%) industries. The distribution of adult inpatients with gas burns during the 7 years was significantly different in population caliber, education, and occupation (χ(2)=17.496, 29.898, 88.896, P<0.05 or P<0.01). Among the patients of this group, the floating population were mainly young (90 cases, accounting for 58.82%) and middle-aged (62 cases, accounting for 40.52%), with main accident place at home (97 cases, accounting for 63.40%), generally received secondary education (101 cases, accounting for 66.01%), and were mainly engaged in manufacturing/construction (71 cases, accounting for 46.41%), self-employed business (26 cases, accounting for 16.99%), and catering (20 cases, accounting for 13.07%) industries. Compared with the total adult inpatients with gas burns in 7 years, the floating population were younger, more injured in the workplace, and more concentrated in industry (χ(2)=42.924, 9.390, 27.819, P<0.01). Conclusions: Gas burn was the leading injury cause of inpatients with flame burns in the author's unit, which mainly occurred in summer and at home; the patients were mainly male, young and middle-aged, and permanent residents, most of which were with moderate burn, often accompanied by inhalation injury. Most of the patients were of secondary education, engaged in manufacturing/construction, self-employed business, and catering industries, among which the floating population were younger, more injured in the workplace, and more concentrated in industry. In order to prevent gas burn, we should pay more attention to the propaganda and education of gas safety among young and middle-aged men, floating population, retired old people and housewives, especially in summer, we should do a good job in gas safety inspection at home. In addition, we should urge enterprises to further strengthen the supervision of production safety.

RESUMEN

Objective: To explore the clinical features and risk factors of hepatic injury due to immune checkpoint inhibitors (CPI) therapy in malignant tumor. Methods: Data of 112 patients (64 men and 48 women) who received CPI between January 2016 and March 2019 in Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College Shenzhen Hospital, and Huazhong University of Science and Techology Union Shenzhen Hospital were retrospectively collected. The median age of these patients was 60 years. Results: Hepatic adverse events were observed in 30 patients out of 112 patients (26.8%). Among them, the incidence of grade 3-5 hepatic adverse events were 7.14% (8/112). The median time of hepatic adverse event occurrence was 3 weeks (2-30) after undergoing therapy. The results of univariate and multivariate analyses showed that liver cancer was attributed to the CPI induced hepatitis (P<0.05). Patients with severe hepatic injury got almost complete resolution after receiving methlprednisolone for 4 to 6 weeks. Conclusion: Live cancer is the risk factor of CPI-related hepatic adverse events.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: Wilms' tumor (WT) is the most common malignant renal tumor in children. MicroRNAs (MiRNAs) function in the progression of various cancers. Recent reports have reported that miR-140-5p and miR-92a-3p are dysregulated in WT tissues, but the potential mechanisms of the two miRNAs in modulating WT progression are still poorly understood. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Quantitative Real Time-Polymerase Chain Reaction (qRT-PCR) was conducted to detect the expression levels of miR-140-5p, miR-92a-3p, and fibroblast growth factor receptor substrate 2 (FRS2) in WT tissues and cells, as well as matched controls. 3-(4, 5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2, 5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay and flow cytometry assay were employed to check cell proliferation and apoptosis, respectively. The abilities of cell migration and invasion were evaluated by transwell assay. The protein level of FRS2 in samples was measured by Western blot. The starBase was used to predict the binding sites between FRS2 and miR-140-5p or miR-92a-3p and the Dual-Luciferase reporter assay was performed to verify the interaction. Xenograft tumor model was established to investigate the biological roles of the two miRNAs in WT in vivo. RESULTS: The levels of miR-140-5p and miR-92a-3p were significantly downregulated in WT tissues and cells, while the expression of FRS2 was significantly upregulated. The two miRNAs both inhibited proliferation, migration, invasion, and induced apoptosis of WT cells. Besides, FRS2 was a target of the two miRNAs and its overexpression reversed the effects of the two miRNAs-mediated suppression on WT progression. Moreover, the upregulation of the two miRNAs repressed tumor growth in vivo. CONCLUSIONS: MiR-140-5p and miR-92a-3p attenuated the aggressive progression of WT via targeting FRS2.
