Green biosynthesis, one of the most dependable and cost-effective methods for producing carbon nanotubes, was used to synthesize nonhazardous silver-functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (SFMWCNTs) successfully. It has been shown that the water-soluble organic materials present in the olive oil plant play a vital role in converting silver ions into silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs). Olive-leaf extracts contain medicinal properties and combining these extracts with Ag-NPs is often a viable option for enhancing drug delivery; thus, this possibility was employed for in vitro treating cancer cells as a proof of concept. In this study, the green technique for preparing SFMWCNTs composites using plant extracts was followed. This process yielded various compounds, the most important of which were Hydroxytyrosol, Tyrosol, and Oleuropein. Subsequently, a thin film was fabricated from the extract, resulting in a natural polymer. The obtained nanomaterials have an absorption peak of 419 nm in their UV-Vis. spectra. SEM and EDS were also used to investigate the SFMWCNT nanocomposites' morphology simultaneously. Moreover, the MTT assay was used to evaluate the ability of SFMWCNTs to suppress cancer cell viability on different cancer cell lines, MCF7 (human breast adenocarcinoma), HepG2 (human hepatocellular carcinoma), and SW620 (human colorectal cancer). Using varying doses of SFMWCNT resulted in the most significant cell viability inhibition, indicating the good sensitivity of SFMWCNTs for treating cancer cells. It was found that performing olive-leaf extraction at a low temperature in an ice bath leads to superior results, and the developed SFMWCNT nanocomposites could be potential treatment options for in vitro cancer cells.

In this study six new s-triazine bishydrazino and bishydrazido-based polymers were synthesized via condensation of bishydrazino s-triazine derivatives with terephthaldehyde or via nucleophilic substitution of dichloro-s-triazine derivatives with terephthalic acid hydrazide. The synthesized polymers were characterized by different techniques. The new polymers displayed good thermal behavior with great values in terms of limited oxygen indexed (LOI) 27.50%, 30.12% for polymers 5b,c (bishydrazino-s-triazine based polymers) and 27.23%, 29.86%, 30.85% for polymers 7a-c (bishydrazido-s-triazine based polymers) at 800 °C. Based on the LOI values, these polymers could be classified as flame retardant and self-extinguishing materials. The thermal results also revealed that the type of substituent groups on the triazine core has a considerable impact on their thermal behavior. Accordingly, the prepared polymers were mixed with ammonium polyphosphate (APP) in different proportions to form an intumescent flame-retardant (IFRs) system and were introduced into polypropylene (PP) to improve the flame-retardancy of the composites. The best results were obtained with a mass ratio of APP: 5a-c or 7a-c of 2:1, according to the vertical burning study (UL-94). In addition, the presence of 25% "weight ratio" of IFR in the composite showed great impact and passed UL-94 V-0 and V-1 tests.

We estimated HLA allele and haplotype frequencies of the Saudi Arabian population from a sample of 45,457 registered stem cell donors. The most frequent HLA alleles were A*02:01g (18.5%), C*06:02g (16.1%), B*51:01g (14.1%), DRB1*07:01g (16.2%), DQB1*02:01g (30.5%), and DPB1*04:01g (33.6%). The most frequent 5-locus haplotypes were A*02:05g~C*06:02g~B*50:01g~DRB1*07:01g~DQB1*02:01g (1.73%), A*02:01g~C*06:02g~B*50:01g~DRB1*07:01g~DQB1*02:01g (1.66%), and A*26:01g~C*07:02g~B*08:01g~DRB1*03:01g~DQB1*02:01g (1.38%). Furthermore, we used the calculated haplotype frequencies to estimate stem cell donor matching probabilities for Saudi Arabian donor and patient populations under various matching requirements. These results are relevant for strategic donor registry planning in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
