Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) are a heterogeneous group of diseases without a care standard and show variability in treatment outcomes. This Spanish, observational, prospective study ERASME (CEL-SMD-2012-01) assessed the evolution of newly diagnosed and treatment-naïve high-risk MDS patients (according to IPPS-R). 204 patients were included: median age 73.0 years, 54.4% males, 69.6% 0-1 ECOG, and 94.6% with comorbidities. Active treatment was the most common strategy (52.0%) vs. stem cell transplantation (25.5%) and supportive care/watchful-waiting (22.5%). Overall (median) event-free survival was 7.9 months (9.1, 8.3, and 5.3); progression-free survival: 10.1 months (12.9, 12.8, and 4.3); and overall survival: 13.8 months (15.4, 14.9; 8.4), respectively, with significant differences among groups. Adverse events (AEs) of ≥3 grade were reported in 72.6% of patients; serious AEs reported in 60.6%. 33.1% of patients died due to AEs. Three patients developed second primary malignant neoplasms (median: 8.2 months). Our study showed better outcomes in patients receiving active therapy early after diagnosis.

Allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (alloHCT) remains the only curative option for relapsed/refractory acute myeloid leukemia and other high-risk myeloid malignancies. To improve alloHCT results in this setting, sequential regimens were designed as a strategy to lower tumor burden and quickly induce the graft-versus-leukemia effect. We analyzed long-term outcomes of a sequential regimen based on IDA-FLAG and high-dose melphalan, as set forth by the CETLAM cooperative group. This protocol yielded a high complete response rate (89%) and a lower cumulative relapse incidence (30% at five years) compared to other regimens. Five-year non-relapse mortality, however, reached 45%, with grade 3-4 acute graft-versus-host disease being the most frequent adverse event (a 100-day incidence of 29%). Altogether, 5-year overall survival was 25% in this group of patients with otherwise dismal prognosis. Long-term survivors enjoyed a good quality of life after a median follow-up of 68 months.

The 2017 European LeukemiaNet (ELN 2017) guidelines for the diagnosis and management of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) have become fundamental guidelines to assess the prognosis and postremission therapy of patients. However, they have been retrospectively validated in few studies with patients included in different treatment protocols. We analyzed 861 patients included in the Cooperativo Para el Estudio y Tratamiento de las Leucemias Agudas y Mielodisplasias-12 risk-adapted protocol, which indicates cytarabine-based consolidation for patients allocated to the ELN 2017 favorable-risk group, whereas it recommends allogeneic stem cell transplantation (alloSCT) as a postremission strategy for the ELN 2017 intermediate- and adverse-risk groups. We retrospectively classified patients according to the ELN 2017, with 327 (48%), 109 (16%), and 245 (36%) patients allocated to the favorable-, intermediate-, and adverse-risk group, respectively. The 2- and 5-year overall survival (OS) rates were 77% and 70% for favorable-risk patients, 52% and 46% for intermediate-risk patients, and 33% and 23% for adverse-risk patients, respectively. Furthermore, we identified a subgroup of patients within the adverse group (inv(3)/t(3;3), complex karyotype, and/or TP53 mutation/17p abnormality) with a particularly poor outcome, with a 2-year OS of 15%. Our study validates the ELN 2017 risk stratification in a large cohort of patients treated with an ELN-2017 risk-adapted protocol based on alloSCT after remission for nonfavorable ELN subgroups and identifies a genetic subset with a very poor outcome that warrants investigation of novel strategies.

In the European LeukemiaNet favourable risk category, allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (alloSCT) is not indicated in first complete remission for patients with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) with NPM1 mutations (ELNfav NPM1 AML), although a proportion of these patients will relapse. Given the prognostic importance of measurable residual disease (MRD), CETLAM-12 considered a pre-emptive intervention in patients with molecular failure (MF). We analyzed 110 ELNfav NPM1 AML patients achieving complete remission (CR) after induction chemotherapy. Two-year cumulative incidence of relapse (CIR), overall survival (OS) and leukaemia-free survival (LFS) were 17%, 81·5% and 82%, respectively. Forty-six patients required additional therapy for MF (n = 33) or haematological relapse (HemR; n = 13), resulting in a molecular LFS (molLFS) and a cumulative incidence of MF at two years of 61% and 38% respectively. Two-year OS for these 46 patients was 66%, with a different outcome between patients with MF (86%) and HemR (42%) (P = 0·002). Quantitative NPM1 detection at different timepoints was predictive of molLFS; an MRD ratio (NPM1mut/ABL1 × 100) cut-off of 0·05 after first consolidation identified two cohorts with a two-year molLFS of 77% and 40% for patients below and above 0·05, respectively. In conclusion, MRD-based pre-emptive intervention resulted in a favourable outcome for ELNfav NPM1 AML patients.

Broad-spectrum antifungal prophylaxis is currently considered the standard of care for adults with de novo AML for the prevention of invasive fungal infections (IFIs), especially invasive pulmonary aspergillosis (IPA). Because fluconazole has been used in our center as anti-yeast prophylaxis, we sought to analyze in detail the incidence of IFIs over a 17-year period, as well as their impact on outcome. A standardized protocol of patient management, including serum galactomannan screening and thoracic CT-guided diagnostic-driven antifungal therapy, was used in all patients. A total of 214 consecutive adults with de novo AML who were treated in 3 CETLAM (Grupo Cooperativo para el Estudio y Tratamiento de las Leucemias Agudas y Mielodisplasias) protocols from 2002 to 2018 were included. The 90-day incidence of any IFI (including possible cases) was 11% (95% CI 4-15%), most cases occurred during induction chemotherapy (8%, 95% CI 4-12%), and most cases were probable/proven IPA (8%, 95% CI 3-13%). Developing an IFI during induction and consolidation had no impact on 1-year survival. A case-control study with 23 cases of IPA and 69 controls identified induction/re-induction chemotherapy, chronic pulmonary disease and age > 60 years/poor baseline performance status as potential pretreatment risk factors. The current study proves that inpatient induction and consolidation chemotherapy for de novo AML can be given in areas with "a priori" high-burden of airborne molds with fluconazole prophylaxis, while the selective use of anti-mold prophylaxis in patients at very high risk may further reduce the incidence of IFI in this specific clinical scenario.

INTRODUCTION: Inv(3)(q21.3q26.2)/t(3;3)(q21.3;q26.2) is a rare poor prognosis cytogenetic abnormality present in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and other myeloid neoplasms. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to evaluate the outcome of a cohort of 61 patients with newly diagnosed AML with inv(3)/t(3;3) treated with homogeneous intensive chemotherapy protocols conducted by the Spanish PETHEMA and CETLAM cooperative groups between 1999 and 2017. METHODS: In this retrospective study the main clinical and biologic parameters were collected. The complete response (CR) rate, the cumulative incidence of relapse (CIR) and the overall survival (OS) were calculated. An analysis of prognostic factors for survival was performed. RESULTS: Sixty-one patients received induction and only 18 (29%) achieved CR (median age, 46 years). Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (alloHSCT) was performed in 36 patients (59%), 15 with active disease. One- and 4-year CIR were 52% and 56%. One- and 4-year OS probabilities were 41% and 13%. By multivariate analysis monosomal karyotype (MK) was associated with poorer OS (HR 2.0, P = .017). CONCLUSION: Inv(3)/t(3;3) AML is a poor prognosis entity with low response to standard chemotherapy and to alloHSCT because of frequent and early relapse. MK was associated with a poorer prognosis. Improved therapeutic strategies are clearly needed.

Haploidentical related (Haplo) and umbilical cord blood (UCB) donors are the main "alternative donor" options for allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HCT) for patients without identical donor. At our institution, UCB was the main alternative donor type until 2013, when HaploHCT was introduced as the preferred procedure. A common myeloablative conditioning regimen was used, based on thiotepa, busulfan, and fludarabine. We analyze the outcomes of 47 patients (61%) who received a single UCB transplantation (UCBT) and 30 patients (39%) who received a HaploHCT with post-transplant cyclophosphamide. No differences were found in the rate of neutrophil engraftment, whereas platelet recovery was earlier with HaploHCT. NRM was higher after UCBT at 3 months and 3 years (13% and 13% vs. 23% and 45% in HaploHCT and UCBT, respectively; p < 0.001 for both time points). The 3-year relapse incidence was 35% after HaploHCT vs. 17% after UCBT, respectively (p = 0.13). The 100-day incidence of grade 3-4 acute GVHD (3% vs. 11%) and the 3-year moderate-to-severe chronic GVHD (4% vs. 15%) did not differ between HaploHCT and UCBT, respectively (p > 0.2). There was a trend for higher overall survival at 1 and 3 years in HaploHCT recipients (69% vs. 45% and 64% vs. 38%, respectively; p = 0.055 for both time points). Despite the small sample sizes, multivariate analysis adjusted for patient age and disease status at transplant showed a better 3-year OS in HaploHCT recipients, mostly due to a lower NRM (p < 0.001). Our results support the use of HaploHCT when feasible when an identical donor is not available.

OBJECTIVE: The obesity/overweight may have an influence on APL outcomes. METHODS: This is the biggest multicentre analysis on 1320 APL patients treated with AIDA-induction and risk-adapted consolidation between 1996 and 2012. Patients body mass index (BMI) was classified as underweight (<18.5 kg/m2 ), normal (18.5-25 kg/m2 ), overweight (25-29.9 kg/m2 ), and obese (≥30 kg/m2 ) according to the World Health Organization (WHO) criteria. RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS: Relationship between male gender, older age, and other known laboratory abnormalities in overweight/obese patients was significant. The induction mortality rate was significantly higher in APL with BMI ≥25 vs BMI <25 (10% vs 6%; P = .04). APL patients with BMI ≥25 had a trend to lower OS (74% vs 80%; P = .06). However, in the multivariate analysis, BMI did not retain the independent predictive value (P = .46). There was no higher incidence of differentiation syndrome with BMI ≥25, but there was a trend in obese. There was no difference in relapse rate according to the BMI. In summary, overweight/obesity does not represent an independent risk factor for APL outcomes. The influence of obesity in APL patients treated with chemotherapy-free regimens remains to be established.

INTRODUCTION: Increased levels of Wilms' tumor (WT1) mRNA have been used to establish risk categories in patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Raised values of WT1 have been associated with progression in myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed the available bone marrow (BM) samples from 115 patients with myeloid neoplasms obtained before and during treatment with 5-azacytidine. A threshold of 100 copies in BM was used to define risk groups: group 1: patients with WT1 levels always below < 100 copies; group 2: cases with initial WT1 levels greater than 100 copies but with a conversion to sustained levels below 100; and group 3: cases with follow-up WT1 levels greater than 100. RESULTS: Twenty patients were included in group 1, 17 in group 2, and 78 in group 3. Survival analysis showed statistically significant differences in terms of OS between groups (p: 0.016). Patients in group 2 showed the best 5-year overall survival (OS). In multivariate analysis, only the cytogenetic risk category and receiving an allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HCT) independently predicted the survival. CONCLUSIONS: Further studies are needed to assess whether BM WT1 levels could be useful to predict the survival of patients with myeloid neoplasms treated with 5-azacytidine.

Acute promyelocytic leukemia is infrequent among patients aged ≥75 years old, a population that is rarely eligible for clinical protocols. This study aims to analyze the treatment strategies and clinical outcomes of very old APL patients reported to the international PETHEMA registry. Between 1997 and 2017, among 2501 APL cases registered 120 were ≥75 years old. Treatment approaches were: AIDA regimen, 79 patients; ATRA alone, 23; 16, supportive care (SC) and 2, other strategies. Patients treated with AIDA were younger, had better ECOG and lower leukocytes. Complete remission (CR) was achieved in 65% of AIDA-group vs. 45% in the ATRA-group, being infections followed by bleeding the most frequent causes of induction death. Patients in CR after AIDA showed 3-year DFS of 73%. Our real-life series of very old APL patients provides a reference basis for future treatment strategies aiming to improve clinical outcomes in this challenging population.

Although additional cytogenetic abnormalities (ACA) do not affect the prognosis of patients with t(15;17) acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL), the role of a complex karyotype (CK) is yet to be clarified. We aimed to investigate the relationship of CK with relapse incidence in 1559 consecutive APL patients enrolled in three consecutive trials. Treatment consisted of AIDA induction followed by risk-adapted consolidation. A CK (CK) was defined as the presence of ≥2 ACA, and a very CK (CK+) as ≥3 ACA. Eighty-nine patients (8%) had a CK, of whom 41 (4%) had CK+. The 5-year cumulative incidence of relapse (CIR) in patients with CK was 18%, and 12% in those with <2 ACA (p=.09). Among patients with CK+, the 5-year CIR was 27% vs 12% (p=.003), retaining the statistical significance in multivariate analysis. This study shows an increased risk of relapse among APL patients with CK + treated with ATRA plus chemotherapy front-line regimens.

In recent years, several attempts have been made to identify novel prognostic markers in patients with intermediate-risk acute myeloid leukemia (IR-AML), to implement risk-adapted strategies. The non-receptor tyrosine kinases are proteins involved in regulation of cell growth, adhesion, migration and apoptosis. They associate with metastatic dissemination in solid tumors and poor prognosis. However, their role in haematological malignancies has been scarcely studied. We hypothesized that PTK2/FAK, PTK2B/PYK2, LYN or SRC could be new prognostic markers in IR-AML. We assessed PTK2, PTK2B, LYN and SRC gene expression in a cohort of 324 patients, adults up to the age of 70, classified in the IR-AML cytogenetic group. Univariate and multivariate analyses showed that PTK2B, LYN and PTK2 gene expression are independent prognostic factors in IR-AML patients. PTK2B and LYN identify a patient subgroup with good prognosis within the cohort with non-favorable FLT3/NPM1 combined mutations. In contrast, PTK2 identifies a patient subgroup with poor prognosis within the worst prognosis cohort who display non-favorable FLT3/NPM1 combined mutations and underexpression of PTK2B or LYN. The combined use of these markers can refine the highly heterogeneous intermediate-risk subgroup of AML patients, and allow the development of risk-adapted post-remission chemotherapy protocols to improve their response to treatment.

BACKGROUND: To determine whether in patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), the clinical stage maintains prognostic significance over time and can be considered as a surrogate for the response to therapy. PATIENTS AND METHODS: The data from 229 CLL patients were retrospectively evaluated. The main aims of the study were to describe the changes in clinical stage during the course of CLL as a result of the response to treatment and to determine the time to next therapy (TTNT) and overall survival (OS) according to those changes, in particular, among the heterogeneous International Workshop on CLL (IWCLL) partial response (PR) category. RESULTS: Among the patients in the IWCLL PR category, differences were found in TTNT and OS according to the clinical stage at the response evaluation. With a median follow-up period of 91 months (range, 2-390 months), patients with a PR- Binet A at the response evaluation had significantly longer TTNT and OS compared with those with PR-Binet B/C (median TTNT, 26 vs. 11 months; P = .00; median OS, 63 vs. 43 months; P = .047). CONCLUSION: The results of the present study have shown that for patients with CLL, the Binet clinical stages are good outcome predictors throughout the disease course and also suggest that changes in Binet clinical stage could be useful as response surrogates and to divide the IWCLL PR category into different prognostic subgroups.

Programmed death 1 (PD-1) activation triggers an immune checkpoint resulting in inhibition of T cells that leads to peripheral tolerance. Some PD-1 polymorphisms have been described and associated with the development of autoimmune diseases or cancer predisposition, but there are few data concerning the relevance of such polymorphisms on the clinical outcome after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplant (alloHSCT). We analyzed the distribution of the SNPs PD-1.1G/A (rs36084323) and PD-1.3G/A (rs11568821) genotypes of the donor in a cohort of 1485 alloHSCT from HLA-identical sibling donors. We found an increased risk of grades II to IV graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) in patients receiving grafts from donors homozygous for the G allele at the rs36084323 SNP (P = 0.033; hazard ratio [HR] 2.2; 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.1 to 4.8) and also from donors homozygous for the A allele at the rs11568821 position (P < 0.001; HR 4.5, 95%CI 2.0 to 10.1). In contrast, the PD-1 genotype of the donor did not show association with overall survival or relapse incidence. These results suggest that the PD-1 genotype of the donor plays an important role for the development of acute GvHD after alloHSCT from HLA-identical sibling donors.

Despite considerable advances in our understanding of the pathophysiology of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), its prediction remains unresolved and depends mainly on clinical data. The aim of this study is to build a predictive model based on clinical variables and cytokine gene polymorphism for predicting acute GVHD (aGVHD) and chronic GVHD (cGVHD) from the analysis of a large cohort of HLA-identical sibling donor allogeneic stem cell transplant (allo-SCT) patients. A total of 25 SNPs in 12 cytokine genes were evaluated in 509 patients. Data were analyzed using a linear regression model and the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO). The statistical model was constructed by randomly selecting 85% of cases (training set), and the predictive ability was confirmed based on the remaining 15% of cases (test set). Models including clinical and genetic variables (CG-M) predicted severe aGVHD significantly better than models including only clinical variables (C-M) or only genetic variables (G-M). For grades 3-4 aGVHD, the correct classification rates (CCR1) were: 100% for CG-M, 88% for G-M, and 50% for C-M. On the other hand, CG-M and G-M predicted extensive cGVHD better than C-M (CCR1: 80% vs. 66.7%, respectively). A risk score was calculated based on LASSO multivariate analyses. It was able to correctly stratify patients who developed grades 3-4 aGVHD (P < .001) and extensive cGVHD (P < .001). The novel predictive models proposed here improve the prediction of severe GVHD after allo-SCT. This approach could facilitate personalized risk-adapted clinical management of patients undergoing allo-SCT.

Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) are stem cell disorders caused by various gene abnormalities. We performed targeted deep sequencing in 39 patients with high-risk MDS and secondary acute myeloid leukemia (sAML) at diagnosis and follow-up (response and/or relapse), with the aim to define their mutational status, to establish if specific mutations are biomarkers of response to 5-azacytidine (AZA) and/or may have impact on survival. Overall, 95% of patients harbored at least one mutation. TP53, DNMT3A and SRSF2 were the most frequently altered genes. Mutations in TP53 correlated with higher risk features and shorter overall survival (OS) and progression free survival (PFS) in univariate analysis. Patients with SRSF2 mutations were associated with better OS and PFS. Response rate was 55%; but we could not correlate the presence of TET2 and TP53 mutations with AZA response. Patients with sAML presented more variations than patients with high-risk MDS, and usually at relapse the number of mutations increased, supporting the idea that in advanced stages of the disease there is a greater genomic complexity. These results confirm that mutation analysis can add prognostic value to high-risk MDS and sAML patients, not only at diagnosis but also at follow-up.

In intermediate-risk cytogenetic acute myeloid leukemia (IRC-AML) patients, novel biomarkers to guide post-remission therapy are needed. We analyzed with high-density arrays 40 IRC-AML patients who received a non-allogeneic hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation-based post-remission therapy, and identified a signature that correlated with early relapse. Subsequently, we analyzed selected 187 genes in 49 additional IRC-AML patients by RT-PCR. BAALC, MN1, SPARC and HOPX overexpression correlated to refractoriness. BAALC or ALDH2 overexpression correlated to shorter overall survival (OS) (5-year OS: 33 ± 8.6% vs. 73.7 ± 10.1%, p = .006; 32 ± 9.3% vs. 66.4 ± 9.7%, p = .016), whereas GPR44 or TP53INP1 overexpression correlated to longer survival (5-year OS: 66.7 ± 10.3% vs. 35.4 ± 9.1%, p = .04; 58.3 ± 8.2% vs. 23.1 ± 11.7%, p = .029). A risk-score combining these four genes expression distinguished low-risk and high-risk patients (5-year OS: 79 ± 9% vs. 30 ± 8%, respectively; p = .001) in our cohort and in an independent set of patients from a public repository. Our 4-gene signature may add prognostic information and guide post-remission treatment in IRC-AML patients.

Vascular endothelial growth factor C (VEGFC) stimulates leukemia cell proliferation and survival, and promotes angiogenesis. We studied VEGFC expression in bone marrow samples from 353 adult acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients and its relationship with several clinical, cytogenetic, and molecular variables. We also studied the expression of 84 genes involved in VEGF signaling in 24 patients. We found that VEGFC expression was higher in AML patients with myelodysplasia-related changes (AML-MRC) than in patients with non-AML-MRC. We also found an association between VEGFC expression and the patient cytogenetic risk group, with those with a worse prognosis having higher VEGFC expression levels. No correlation was observed between VEGFC expression and survival or complete remission. VEGFC expression strongly correlated with expression of the VEGF receptors FLT1, KDR, and NRP1. Thus, in this series, VEGFC expression was increased in AML-MRC and in subgroups with a poorer prognosis, but has no impact on survival.

The outcome of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HCT) in patients with myeloid malignancies is better in those without minimal residual disease (MRD) than in those with MRD+, as assessed by multiparametric flow cytometry (MPFC). WT1 quantitation also has been used to assess the probability of relapse in acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) treated with chemotherapy. We analyzed the clinical value of normalized bone marrow WT1 levels as a measure of the expanded myeloid progenitor compartment in a consecutive series of 193 adult patients with myeloid malignancies who underwent HCT. Bone marrow WT1 levels before the HCT, at the first bone marrow aspirate after infusion, and in the follow-up samples after HCT were determined by means of real-time PCR using the European LeukemiaNet normalized method. We sought to clarify the prognostic relevance in terms of overall survival (OS), progression-free survival (PFS), and cumulative incidence of relapse (CIR). Based on earlier experience in AML, we selected a threshold of 100 copies, defining 2 groups: patients with <100 WT1 copies and those with ≥100 copies. Patients with <100 WT1 copies before HCT (median time, 36 days; range, 4 to 268 days) had a better OS, PFS, and CIR than those with ≥100 copies (40 ± 1 versus 29 ± 6 days, P = .004; 35 ± 9 versus 26 ± 6 days, P = .002; and 29 ± 7 versus 37 ± 6 days, P = .051). In the first bone marrow study after the HCT (median time, 42 days; range 14 to 157 days, respectively), patients with <100 WT1 copies also had better outcomes in terms of OS, PFS, and CIR (40 ± 7 versus 31 ± 9 days, P = .025; 36 ± 7 versus 30 ± 8 days, P = .004; and 29 ± 6 days versus 54 ± 9, P < .001, respectively). At this time point, bone marrrow samples with >100 copies also included patients who were negative for MRD as assessed by MPFC (19 of 32). During the HCT follow-up, patients with sustained WT1 levels <100 copies showed a marked benefit in terms of OS, PFS, and CIR even compared with those with only a single measurement >100 copies (mean, 68 ± 11 versus 26 ± 7 days, P < .001; 63 ± 11 versus 20 ± 8 days, P < .001; and 20 ± 8 vs. 71 ± 8 days, P < .001, respectively). Standardized bone marrow WT1 levels using a 100-copy threshold in samples obtained before HCT, at leukocyte recovery, and during follow-up provided relevant prognostic information in patients with myeloid malignacies submitted to HCT.

Intermediate-risk acute myeloid leukemia (IR-AML) is the largest subgroup of AML patients and is highly heterogeneous. Whereas adverse and favourable risk patients have well-established treatment protocols, IR-AML patients have not. It is, therefore, crucial to find novel factors that stratify this subgroup to implement risk-adapted strategies. The CAS (Crk-associated substrate) adaptor protein family regulates cell proliferation, survival, migration and adhesion. Despite its association with metastatic dissemination and prognosis of different solid tumors, the role of these proteins in hematological malignancies has been scarcely evaluated. Nevertheless, previous work has established an important role for the CAS family members NEDD9 or BCAR1 in the migratory and dissemination capacities of myeloid cells. On this basis, we hypothesized that NEDD9 or BCAR1 expression levels could associate with survival in IR-AML patients and become new prognostic markers. To that purpose, we assessed BCAR1 and NEDD9 gene expression in a cohort of 73 adult AML patients validating the results in an independent cohort (n = 206). We have identified NEDD9, but not BCAR1, as a new a marker for longer overall and disease-free survival, and for lower cumulative incidence of relapse. In summary, NEDD9 gene expression is an independent prognostic factor for favourable prognosis in IR-AML patients.
