Objectives: An ideal Fontan pathway should be capable of adapting to changes in circulatory demands. The external pericardial lateral tunnel Fontan (EPLTF) is constructed of viable, autologous tissue and may be capable of changing in size. We investigated the ability of the EPLTF to enlarge with increasing physiologic demands of somatic growth. Methods: Retrospective review of echocardiographic images for patients with a minimum of five years follow-up after EPLTF. Serial echocardiographic measurements of the EPLTF pathway were obtained at three distinct locations: the inferior vena cava junction with the EPLTF, midsection of the EPLTF, and cross-sectional area of the EPLTF visualized in a four-chamber view. Body surface area (BSA) was calculated at the time of each echocardiographic measurement. Changes in echocardiographic measurements over time were analyzed and compared with changes in BSA. Results: A total of 332 echocardiographic studies from 38 patients were reviewed. Significant enlargement of the EPLTF pathway is observed at the inferior vena caval junction (P < .001), midsection (P < .01), and cross-sectional area (P < .001). Repeated measures correlation between pathway measurements and BSA is highly significant (P < .001). Conclusions: The EPLTF pathway enlarges over time in correlation with increasing BSA. Further research is needed to define ideal pathway size, differentiate normal physiologic growth from pathologic enlargement, and correlate changes with clinical outcomes.

The mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) is a serine-threonine kinase that acts as a central mediator of translation and plays important roles in cell growth, synaptic plasticity, cancer, and a wide range of developmental disorders. The signaling cascade linking lipid kinases (phosphoinositide 3-kinases), protein kinases (AKT), and translation initiation complexes (EIFs) to mTOR has been extensively modeled, but does not fully describe mTOR system behavior. Here, we use quantitative multiplex coimmunoprecipitation to monitor a protein interaction network (PIN) composed of 300+ binary interactions among mTOR-related proteins. Using a simple model system of serum-deprived or fresh-media-fed mouse 3T3 fibroblasts, we observed extensive PIN remodeling involving 27+ individual protein interactions after 1 h, despite phosphorylation changes observed after only 5 min. Using small molecule inhibitors of phosphoinositide 3-kinase, AKT, mTOR, MEK and ERK, we define subsets of the PIN, termed "modules", that respond differently to each inhibitor. Using primary fibroblasts from individuals with overgrowth disorders caused by pathogenic PIK3CA or MTOR variants, we find that hyperactivation of mTOR pathway components is reflected in a hyperactive PIN. Our data define a "modular" organization of the mTOR PIN in which coordinated groups of interactions respond to the activation or inhibition of distinct nodes, and demonstrate that kinase inhibitors affect the modular network architecture in a complex manner, inconsistent with simple linear models of signal transduction.

BACKGROUND: Bovine Digital Dermatitis (BDD) is a prevalent infectious disease, causing painful foot skin lesions and lameness in cattle. We describe herein the bovine foot skin microbiota and its associations with BDD using 16S rRNA gene amplicon and shotgun metagenomic sequencing on samples from 259 dairy cows from three UK dairy farms. RESULTS: We show evidence of dysbiosis, and differences in taxonomy and functional profiles in the bovine foot skin microbiome of clinically healthy animals that subsequently develop BDD lesions, compared to those that do not. Our results suggest that taxonomical and functional differences together with alterations in ecological interactions between bacteria in the normal foot skin microbiome may predispose an animal to develop BDD lesions. Using genome-wide association and regional heritability mapping approaches, we provide first evidence for interactions between host genotype and certain members of the foot skin microbiota. We show the existence of significant genetic variation in the relative abundance of Treponema spp. and Peptoclostridium spp. and identify regions in the bovine genome that explain a significant proportion of this variation. CONCLUSIONS: Collectively this work shows early changes in taxonomic and functional profiles of the bovine foot-skin microbiota in clinically healthy animals which are associated with subsequent development of BDD and could be relevant to prevention of disease. The description of host genetic control of members of the foot skin microbiota, combined with the association of the latter with BDD development offer new insights into a complex relationship that can be exploited in selective breeding programmes. BACKGROUND: Contagious Ovine Digital Dermatitis (CODD) is an emerging and common infectious foot disease of sheep which causes severe welfare and economic problems for the sheep industry. The aetiology of the disease is not fully understood and control of the disease is problematic. The aim of this study was to investigate the polybacterial aetiopathogenesis of CODD and the effects of antibiotic treatment, in a longitudinal study of an experimentally induced disease outbreak using a 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing approach. RESULTS: CODD was induced in 15/30 experimental sheep. During the development of CODD three distinct phenotypic lesion stages were observed. These were an initial interdigital dermatitis (ID) lesion, followed by a footrot (FR) lesion, then finally a CODD lesion. Distinct microbiota were observed for each lesion in terms of microbial diversity, clustering and composition. Porphyromonadaceae, Family XI, Veillonellaceae and Fusobacteriaceae were significantly associated with the diseased feet. Veillonellaceae and Fusobacteriaceae were most associated with the earlier stages of ID and footrot rather than CODD. Following antibiotic treatment of the sheep, the foot microbiota showed a strong tendency to return to the composition of the healthy state. The microbiota composition of CODD lesions collected by swab and biopsy methods were different. In particular, the Spirochaetaceae family were more abundant in samples collected by the biopsy method, suggesting that these bacteria are present in deeper tissues of the diseased foot. CONCLUSION: In this study, CODD presented as part of a spectrum of poly-bacterial foot disease strongly associated with bacterial families Porphyromonadaceae, Family XI (a family in Clostridiales also known as Clostridium cluster XI), Veillonellaceae and Fusobacteriaceae which are predominately Gram-negative anaerobes. Following antibiotic treatment, the microbiome showed a strong tendency to return to the composition of the healthy state. The composition of the healthy foot microbiome does not influence susceptibility to CODD. Based on the data presented here and that CODD appears to be the severest end stage of sheep infectious foot disease lesions, better control of the initial ID and FR lesions would enable better control of CODD and enable better animal welfare.

Studies have demonstrated that people with CF with pancreatic insufficiency (PI) have fecal dysbioses. Evidence suggests the causes of these dysbioses are multifactorial, and that important drivers include antibiotic exposure, dietary intake, and CF gastrointestinal tract dysfunction, including nutrient malabsorption. In this pilot study, we tested whether initiation of the CFTR modulator treatments ivacaftor (in a cohort of pancreatic sufficient (PS) people with CF and an R117H CFTR variant) or lumacaftor/ivacaftor (in a cohort of PI people with CF and an F508del variant) changed fecal measures of malabsorption or fecal microbiomes. While we identified no statistically significant fecal changes with either treatment, we detected trends in the PI cohort when initiating lumacaftor/ivacaftor towards decreased fecal fat content and towards fecal microbiomes that more closely resembled the fecal microbiota of people without PI. While these findings support a model in which nutrient malabsorption resulting from CF-induced PI drives fecal dysbiosis, they must be validated in future, larger studies of fecal microbiome and malabsorption outcomes with highly effective CFTR modulator therapies.

The goal of glioma surgery is maximal safe resection in order to provide optimal tumor control and survival benefit to the patient. There are multiple imaging modalities beyond traditional contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) that have been incorporated into the preoperative workup of patients presenting with gliomas. The aim of these imaging modalities is to identify cortical and subcortical areas of eloquence, and their relationship to the lesion. In this article, multiple modalities are described with an emphasis on the underlying technology, clinical utilization, advantages, and disadvantages of each. functional MRI and its role in identifying hemispheric dominance and areas of language and motor are discussed. The nuances of magnetoencephalography and transcranial magnetic stimulation in localization of eloquent cortex are examined, as well as the role of diffusion tensor imaging in defining normal white matter tracts in glioma surgery. Lastly, we highlight the role of stimulated Raman spectroscopy in intraoperative histopathological diagnosis of tissue to guide tumor resection. Tumors may shift the normal arrangement of functional anatomy in the brain; thus, utilization of multiple modalities may be helpful in operative planning and patient counseling for successful surgery.

BACKGROUND: Bovine digital dermatitis (BDD) is an infectious foot disease found commonly in dairy herds. Foot-trimming is an important husbandry procedure for reducing the ensuing lameness; however, epidemiological, and microbiological studies have identified this as a risk activity for transmitting BDD. Three disinfectants have previously been identified in laboratory work as effective for removing viable BDD-associated Treponema spp., from hoof knife blades. The present study enrolled 133 dairy cattle with BDD lesions, and swabbed hoof knife blades before and after foot-trimming, and after knife disinfection with one of three disinfectants (1:100 FAM30®, 2% Virkon® and 2% sodium hypochlorite) to assess their efficacy under field conditions. RESULTS: Detection of BDD treponeme phylogroup DNA was undertaken by direct PCR of swabs, and viable treponemes were detected by PCR of swab cultures after 6 weeks' incubation. Where hoof knives did not contact the lesion, BDD-associated treponemes were detected after foot-trimming in 12/22 (54.5%) cases by direct PCR and 1/22 (4.5%) cases by PCR of cultured organisms. Where contact was made with the lesion, 111/111 (100%) samples taken after trimming were positive by direct PCR and 47/118 (39.8%) were positive by culture PCR. Viable organisms were identified in cultures from lesion stages M2, M3, M4 and M4.1. No viable organisms were detected after disinfection of hoof knives. CONCLUSIONS: Hoof knives post-trimming were frequently contaminated with BDD-associated treponeme DNA. Viable organisms were identified in cultures whether contact had been made between hoof knife and lesion or not, although contact clearly increased the frequency of detection of viable organisms. The three disinfectants tested were effective for removing viable organisms. The disinfection protocol used in this study should therefore be considered reliable for adoption as standard industry practice.

BACKGROUND: Recent advances in methods used for deep brain stimulation (DBS) include subthalamic nucleus electrode implantation in the "asleep" patient without the traditional use of microelectrode recordings or intraoperative test stimulation. OBJECTIVE: To examine the clinical outcome of patients who have undergone "asleep" DBS for the treatment of Parkinson disease using robot-assisted electrode delivery. METHODS: This is a retrospective review of clinical outcomes of 152 consecutive patients. Their outcomes at 1 yr postimplantation are reported; these include Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS) assessment, Tinetti Mobility Test, Parkinson's Disease Questionnaire (PDQ)-39 quality of life assessment, Mattis Dementia Rating Scale, Beck Depression Inventory, and Beck Anxiety. We also report on a new parietal trajectory for electrode implantation. RESULTS: A total of 152 patients underwent assessment at 1 yr. UPDRS III improved from 39 to 20.5 (47%, P < .001). The total UPDRS score improved from 67.6 to 36.4 (46%, P < .001). UPDRS II scores improved from 18.9 to 10.5 (44%, P < .001) and UPDRS IV scores improved from 7.1 to 3.6 (49%, P < .001). There was a significant reduction in levodopa equivalent daily dose after surgery (mean: 35%, P < .001). PDQ-39 summary index improved by a mean of 7.1 points. There was no significant difference found in clinical outcomes between the frontal and parietal approaches. CONCLUSION: "Asleep" robot-assisted DBS of the subthalamic nucleus demonstrates comparable outcomes with traditional techniques in the treatment of Parkinson disease.

PURPOSE: To present the results of a return to sports bridge program designed to reduce knee injuries following ACL reconstruction and physical therapy. METHODS: One hundred and fifty (male = 83, female = 67) patients participated in a whole body neuromuscular control, progressive resistance strength and agility training program. Post-program testing included functional movement form, dynamic knee stability, lower extremity power, agility, and sports skill assessments. Participants completed the Knee Outcome Survey-Sports Activity Scale (KOS-SAS) before and after program initiation. Pre-participation scores were re-estimated following program completion. RESULTS: Global rating KOS-SAS score at program entry was 75 ± 13. Post-program global rating and calculated KOS-SAS were 91.0 ± 9.8 and 90.9 ± 9.7, respectively (p < 0.0001). Pre-participation KOS-SAS score re-estimates at program completion were 54.5 ± 23.3 and 57.3 ± 18.5, respectively. The approximately 20% lower pre-program KOS-SAS score re-estimates (p < 0.0001) observed at program completion suggests that subjects had inaccurately high sports readiness perceptions at program entry. Perceived overall sports activity knee function ratings improved from 2.9 ± 0.6 (abnormal) at program entry to 1.3 ± 0.5 (normal) at completion (p < 0.0001). Most subjects returned back to sports at or above their pre-injury performance skill/performance level (84%, 126/150). By 6.8 ± 3.2 years (range = 2-13 years) post-surgery, ten subjects had sustained an ipsilateral knee re-injury or contralateral knee injury (6.7%). The 2.7% non-contact contralateral and 1.3% non-contact ipsilateral knee injury rates observed were significantly lower than those cited in previous reports. CONCLUSION: Supplementing primary ACL reconstruction and standard physical therapy with a return to sports bridge program prior to release to unrestricted sports performance was effective at improving patient outcomes and decreasing ipsilateral knee re-injury and contralateral knee injury rates. BACKGROUND: Robotics in neurosurgery has demonstrated widening indications and rapid growth in recent years. Robotic precision and reproducibility are especially pertinent to the field of functional neurosurgery. Deep brain stimulation (DBS) requires accurate placement of electrodes in order to maximize efficacy and minimize side effects. In addition, asleep techniques demand clear target visualization and immediate on-table verification of accuracy. OBJECTIVE: To describe the surgical technique of asleep DBS surgery using the Neuro|MateTM Robot (Renishaw plc, Wotton-under-Edge, United Kingdom) and examine the accuracy of DBS lead placement in the subthalamic nucleus (STN) for the treatment of movement disorders. METHODS: A single-center retrospective review of 113 patients who underwent bilateral STN/Zona Incerta electrode placement was performed. Accuracy of implantation was assessed using 5 measurements, Euclidian distance, radial error, depth error, angular error, and shift error. RESULTS: A total of 226 planned vs actual electrode placements were analyzed. The mean 3-dimensional vector error calculated for 226 trajectories was 0.78 +/- 0.37 mm. The mean radial displacement off planned trajectory was 0.6 +/- 0.33 mm. The mean depth error, angular error, and shift error was 0.4 +/- 0.35 mm, 0.4 degrees, and 0.3 mm, respectively. CONCLUSION: This report details our institution's method for DBS lead placement in patients under general anaesthesia using anatomical targeting without microelectrode recordings or intraoperative test stimulation for the treatment of movement disorders. This is the largest reported dataset of accuracy results in DBS surgery performed asleep. This novel robot-assisted operative technique results in sub-millimeter accuracy in DBS electrode placement.

Although minimally invasive posterior cervical foraminotomy (MIS-PCF) is frequently employed in the treatment of cervical radiculopathy, there are very few studies directly comparing outcomes between MIS-PCF and open posterior cervical foraminotomy and between MIS-PCF and percutaneous endoscopic (full-endoscopic) posterior cervical foraminotomy (FE-PCF). This study includes a description of technique and systematic review of literature and analysis of clinical studies comparing outcomes between MIS-PCF and open posterior cervical foraminotomy and between MIS-PCF and FE-PCF. Six comparative studies, including one randomized controlled trial were included in analysis. Average operative time ranged from 60.5 to 171 minutes in the open group and 77.65 to 115 minutes in the MIS group. Mean intraoperative blood loss ranged from 43.5 to 246 cc in the open group and 42 to 138 cc in the MIS group. Average postoperative length of stay ranged from 58.6 to 304.8 hours in the open group and 20 to 273.6 hours in the MIS group. Two studies reported significantly increased VAS-N (Neck) scores postoperatively in patients undergoing open cervical foraminotomies, however both studies reported that the differences lost statistical significance with longer follow-up. There were no significant differences in complications or reoperations between open and MIS groups. One retrospective cohort study was included in analysis that compared MIS-PCF and FE-PCF. Postoperatively at 24 months, mean NDI and VAS-N were significantly lower after FE-PCF than MIS-PCF. There was no significant change in VAS-A (Arm) between the two groups. Direct comparative studies between MIS-PCF and open cervical foraminotomy are limited in number. Although, there is a significant heterogeneity in studies comparing open and MIS-PCF there appears to be a trend of decreased hospital length of stay and postoperative analgesic usage in the minimally invasive cohort.

Bovine digital dermatitis (BDD), an infectious disease of the bovine foot with a predominant treponemal etiology, is a leading cause of lameness in dairy and beef herds worldwide. BDD is poorly responsive to antimicrobial therapy and exhibits a relapsing clinical course; an effective vaccine is therefore urgently sought. Using a reverse vaccinology approach, the present study surveyed the genomes of the three BDD-associated Treponema phylogroups for putative ß-barrel outer membrane proteins and considered their potential as vaccine candidates. Selection criteria included the presence of a signal peptidase I cleavage site, a predicted ß-barrel fold, and cross-phylogroup homology. Four candidate genes were overexpressed in Escherichia coli BL21(DE3), refolded, and purified. Consistent with their classification as ß-barrel OMPs, circular-dichroism spectroscopy revealed the adoption of a predominantly ß-sheet secondary structure. These recombinant proteins, when screened for their ability to adhere to immobilized extracellular matrix (ECM) components, exhibited a diverse range of ligand specificities. All four proteins specifically and dose dependently adhered to bovine fibrinogen. One recombinant protein was identified as a candidate diagnostic antigen (disease specificity, 75%). Finally, when adjuvanted with aluminum hydroxide and administered to BDD-naive calves using a prime-boost vaccination protocol, these proteins were immunogenic, eliciting specific IgG antibodies. In summary, we present the description of four putative treponemal ß-barrel OMPs that exhibit the characteristics of multispecific adhesins. The observed interactions with fibrinogen may be critical to host colonization and it is hypothesized that vaccination-induced antibody blockade of these interactions will impede treponemal virulence and thus be of therapeutic value.

Using data from the Hertfordshire cohort study, this study examined the effect of breastfeeding and bottle feeding on adult lumbar spine and femoral neck bone mineral content (BMC) and bone mineral density (BMD). The type of infant milk feeding was significantly associated with lumbar spine BMD in males. INTRODUCTION: Using data from the Hertfordshire cohort study (HCS), this study aims to examine the effect of infant milk feeding on bone health in later life by comparing the effect of breastfeeding and bottle feeding on lumbar spine and femoral neck BMC and BMD. METHODS: Information about infant milk feeding, birth weight (kg) and weight at 1 (kg) was collected by health visitors between 1931 and 1939 in Hertfordshire. BMC and BMD measurements were taken by DXA scan between 1998 and 2004. Linear regression models adjusted for conditional weight at 1, age at DXA scan, sex, adult BMI, smoking behaviour, alcohol consumption, physical activity, dietary calcium, and prudent diet score. RESULTS: Infant milk feeding was significantly associated with lumbar spine BMD (b = - 0.028; 95% CI, - 0.055; - 0.000; p value, 0.047) in males. On average, males who consumed breastmilk alternatives in infancy had lower lumbar spine BMD measurements than those who were fed only breastmilk. These associations remained significant in fully adjusted models. There were no significant associations between infant milk feeding and bone health for females. CONCLUSIONS: Significant associations between infant milk feeding and lumbar spine BMD in males indicate that breastmilk may be protective for the bone health of male babies. The evidence presented here underscores the potential lifelong benefits of breastfeeding and may highlight the differences between osteoporotic risk factors for males and females.

PURPOSE: This study sought to assess the frequency of refractive surgery complications in HIV+ individuals and related risk factors. SETTINGS: Multiple centers in the United States. DESIGN: Prospective observational cohort study. METHODS: The U.S. Military HIV Natural History Study is a prospective observational cohort study of HIV+ service members and beneficiaries. Participants were selected who had Current Procedural Terminology codes for laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK), photorefractive keratectomy (PRK), and other refractive surgeries. The frequency of complications was determined using International Classification of Diseases-9 codes. Covariates included age, sex, antiretroviral therapy, time since HIV diagnosis, history of AIDS, and CD4 (T lymphocytes) count and viral load. Statistical analysis was completed using univariate (χ2 and Wilcoxon-Mann-Whitney tests) and multivariate analyses. RESULTS: Seventy-nine of 2073 participants had refractive surgery. Fifty-three patients underwent PRK, 23 LASIK, 2 radial keratotomy (RK), and 1 astigmatic correction. Complications occurred in 6 (7.6%) of 79 participants, including 5 patients who underwent PRK and 1 after RK, occurring between 8 and 217 days after surgery. Five ulcers and 1 unspecified keratitis were noted. In the univariate analysis, type of surgery (P = .02) and history of AIDS (P = .02) were risk factors for complications. In logistic regression analysis, no variables were found to be risk factors for complications. CONCLUSION: Complications were infrequent among HIV+ participants after refractive surgery. Point estimates suggest that PRK might have more complications than LASIK and that advanced HIV, reflected by previous AIDS, might be associated with an increased risk for complications. Further study will be required to confirm these findings.

Since the first report of bovine digital dermatitis (DD) in 1974, there is a large body of the literature published; however, effective prevention and control of the disease remain elusive. Although many aspects of the pathogenesis of DD have been investigated, even some of the most basic questions such as the aetiology of this disease remain under debate. Treponema spp. have been strongly associated with DD lesions and occur in abundance in advanced lesions; however, efforts to induce disease with pure cultures of these organisms have been largely underwhelming and inconsistent. Furthermore, although the disease has been presented for several decades, there is limited scientific evidence regarding effective treatment of DD. Apparent discrepancies between effectiveness in vitro and in vivo have challenged the scientific community to identify new potential treatment options. With no treatment resulting in a 100% cure rate, the current expectation is manageable control, but prospects for the eradication of the disease are unlikely using current approaches. In order to develop more effective approaches to control DD on-farm, there is a critical need for a deeper understanding regarding the causation, ecology, transmission and treatment of this disease. In this article, we attempt to provide insights into specific research needs related to DD in order to assist the industry, researchers, pharmaceutical companies and research sponsors with decision-making and identified research gaps.

AIMS: To investigate the impact of the method of treatment on the oncological outcomes in patients with epithelioid sarcomas managed at two international speciality sarcoma centres. METHODS: The databases of two centres were used to identify patients treated for epithelioid sarcomas between 1985 and 2012. Patient, tumor, treatment and outcome data was collected. RESULTS: There were 36 males and 18 females with a mean age of 38.3 years (range 9-79). Of 49 patients who were treated surgically, limb salvage surgery was carried out in 38 patients (78%) and limb amputation in 11 (22%). Of 49 total patients who underwent surgery for ES, 48 (98%) with ES had negative margin resection and 24 (49%) received (neo) adjuvant radiotherapy. Regional lymph node metastases developed in 5 (13%) patients. The five-year risk of local recurrence was 14%. The overall survival rate at five and ten years was 70% and 66% respectively. In multivariate analysis of patients with localized disease and negative margins, survival and risk of metastases was worse in those treated by amputation. CONCLUSION: This series has shown that although the rate of local recurrence is not influenced by the type of surgery, the risk of metastases is higher following amputation. This finding is likely due to patients with larger, deeper and more locally advanced tumors requiring amputation. However, we could not prove that immediate amputation was likely to affect overall survival.

BACKGROUND: Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) is a rare congenital disease that affects growth, sexual development, cognitive function and behavior. Individuals exhibit food preoccupation and hyperphagia, which may lead to obesity with premature morbidity and mortality. The aim of this work was to evaluate the risk of venous thromboembolisms (VTEs), myocardial infarction, pulmonary hypertension, sleep apnea, depression, anxiety and all-cause mortality among persons with PWS as compared with an age- and sex-matched general-population cohort. METHODS: All persons diagnosed with PWS (n=155) were identified in the Danish Health Registries; an age- and sex-matched comparison group was selected from the general population of Denmark (n=15 500); diseases of interest were identified through the health registry and cause of death register. Follow-up began on date of birth or first medical record availability through to first occurrence of an outcome of interest; follow-up ceased at emigration from Denmark or end of study. Incidence rates (IRs) were calculated and Cox's proportional hazards models were used to understand the relative risk (RR) of disease. RESULTS: The IRs for VTE among patients with PWS was 144 (60-347) per 100 000 person-years. Risks for VTE events and all-cause mortality were 9.4 times (95% confidence interval (CI): 3.7-23.5) and 11.0 times (95% CI: 5.7-21.1) higher, respectively, for patients with PWS versus the general population. Increased risks were also found individually for deep venous thromboses (DVTs) (RR: 9.1; 95% CI: 3.2-25.2), pulmonary embolisms (RR: 11.0; 95% CI: 1.4-86.9), myocardial infarction (RR: 7.2; 95% CI: 1.7-30.2) and anxiety (RR: 2.8; 95% CI: 1.0-7.5). No cases of pulmonary hypertension, sleep apnea or depressive disorders were identified within this PWS cohort. CONCLUSIONS: Multiple cardiovascular and behavioral illnesses are more likely to occur among patients with PWS than within the general population. These increased risks may provide an impetus for enhanced disease prevention, screening, diagnosis and treatment.
